I really hope these rubes don't go to Spain especially Barcelona.   I couldn't handle them getting to tour the Sagrada Familia before I get to.  Alas, I don't have a TV network paying for my vacations.   Someday.

 

Now, I could also see them going to Italy.  I could handle that since I have already been there.

There was every kind of abuse (emotional, physical, sexual, verbal) in our house growing up.  It has affected all of us our entire lives.  Forgiveness will never be in the cards for our monster.  My brothers & I fully intend to dance on the grave of the monster when he dies.  We keep track of the monster just so we will know when he dies.  Some will say it's bad to hold onto that anger, but that anger has kept us safe and is a security blanket of sorts.  Anger and even spite has helped all of us put one foot in front of the other many times in our lives.  We just can't forgive someone who systematically abused everyone in the house & had no remorse for it.  Karma has done it's own wonderful job on the monster, but for us, anger has been an amazing motivator. 

 

If we ever heard that Jessa was motivated to make Counting on successful to spite Josh or out of anger towards Josh, I could totally understand it and support her for it.  If we heard that the abuse & then forgiveness is what makes Jill so totally incapable of, well, anything, I wouldn't be surprised.  I do think Jill's version of forgiveness included acceptance and even responsibility for what happened to her.  While I think Jessa would be most likely to look at Josh and tell him to go fuck himself because she knows she's not responsible and she's pissed at even the idea that she holds some responsibility.  Unfortunately for Jessa, she's surrounded by people who wouldn't understand her justified anger, so she'll never have the freedom to express it openly.  None of them have ever been able to truly express their anger at Josh for all he destroyed.  It's just not allowed in their world.  And that's one of the few things that makes me feel sorry for them all.  Forgiveness wasn't their decision, it was forced on them and they had no choice in the matter.

I love every thing you said here. I was abused in all those ways too. I never forgave my abuser either. Karma got him good. He was beaten to death by some drunks out back of the bar he owned. I wish I could have seen it. I hope he suffered the way he made me suffer.   I did actually dance on his grave. Yelled and screamed and stomped and spit on the the ground and kicked and spit on his headstone. I got it all out. I wanted to literally pee on his grave, but my husband stopped me. He said he understood, but what I had done was enough. I fought him, but he held me in his arms and and helped me through it. And he was right. It was enough.  I have the best husband in the world. I felt like a weight had been lifted off me. I will never forgive my stepfather, but I got a lot of the anger and hatred out. I hope you can do the same when your abuser dies. ❤️

Topic? It's too bad none of the Duggar girls will ever be able to express their anger or hatred towards Josh. They have to stay sweet.  Which is bullshit.

I was thinking the same thing.  He could work for or start up some type of plane business & I'm sure Abbie could find a nursing job.

I think you meant Jesus, not Jim Bob. Surely JB would let his children move out from under his control if the Lord would simply "lay it on his heart" to do so.

Since JD won the Constable position, it would seem that he has no intention of leaving Arkansas. Being a pilot he may have a little more freedom,but he’s under his father’s thumb just as much as the others.

None of them has been taught to think for themselves, be independent, be confident and obviously, work a 9-5 job.

I would bet the farm that Abby will be pregnant shortly,foregoing any hope of her getting a nursing position.

JD seems easy-going so I don’t think he will pull the  patriarchal crap with Abby, but he’s too mild mannered to go against his father. 

I would love to see them set out on their own without JB’s influence but I don’t see that happening at all.

I can see JD & Abbie having 4-5 kids given her age AND that JD remembers the lean years and all of the hardship the kids went through. She may go back to nursing when her youngest is 7-8yrs old, but I don’t see her working full time in the next decade. 

I can also see Abbie as the designated caregiver for JB and Michelle- Jana’s put in her time with the Littles, she may not have any interest in elder care.

On TLC last night in a commercial break somewhere between 7 Little Johnston's and The Little Couple, they broke in and announced JD and Abbie's wedding! They looked like such a happy (normal) couple too. JD said something along the lines of "I've been waiting all this time for this day to happen.....well....since I first met Abbie". I was so happy he decided not to say what they all are programmed to say....waiting MY ENTIRE LIFE! JD looked thinner too. Boy is thriving in the married life!

Things in these pictures not worth snarking on:

    JD and Abbie. They both look great, and they look genuinely happy.

    Jana looks sad. She never looks especially happy, but in the pictures and in her congratulatory video, she looks really sad.

Things worth snarking on:

Jessa and Anna both looked like they dressed out of the hamper. I thought weddings were a BIG DEAL to these people. Exactly what occasion is special enough in their lives to put on a nice dress and comb their hair? I'm not going to cut them any slack for being cold, either. Did Jesus forget to remind them that an airplane hanger might be cold in November? The girl in the photos is dressed nicely, and so are all of the other young women she posed with except Jessa and Anna.

I do too. Just a feeling, but I think they kissed before marriage. They have a very easy, natural intimacy between them that I haven't seen in any of the other couples.

They look like a normal, happy couple. Very refreshing. Love Abbies dress. Reminds me somewhat of mine. John has that unfortunate Duggar male hairline. I also love the kiss on the forehead. My husband did that when we got married. I've got a picture just like that. Very sweet.

I think their hair looks fine.  Michael Bates  is wearing her hair just like Jessa's and Annas.  They obviously like their hair down.

Basically. Married couples who want to dance in private may do so, but watching others dance is equivalent to pornography in their minds.

The wedding party looks great except for the little girls in their short dresses and white leggings. Why not put them in white tights or long dresses like the bridesmaids? I get that leggings are big for these people but they're casual wear, not formal wear.

I think they're worried about stirring up desires for people other than their spouse. Like if JD saw Erin Bates shakin' it at his wedding he'd be turned on by her instead of Abbie, which would of course ruin his marriage.

Aww the swaying (not dancing) to the music was beautiful.  These two are so truly in love.  So nice to see. 

 

How many sisters does she have?  I spotted 2 definite ones in her wedding party and have spotted to possible definites as well.
