Cute kid, but I don't know how Kendra's going to manage a newborn and a toddler.

She is a cutie.
My kids were all 2 years apart, and I found the second and third to be much easier, because I knew what to expect.  Having said that, Garrett is only 16 months old, so I imagine he is still quite clingy, and I’m sure it will be quite a transition.

But if you insist that you are going to joyfully accept as many children as the Lord chooses to bless you with, you can’t complain when your blessings are close in age. 🙄

One of my first thoughts as well...and I was another who majorly crushed on him. There's an intersection a couple of towns away where Addison Rd crosses Willys St, and though the spelling may be off, I still think of those Moonlighting days whenever I am down in that neck of the woods.

I think she will manage just fine. She has the temperament for it, and if hopefully Addie will be an easy baby as well. Most of the Duggar spawn do seem to be, somehow. Maybe that's why none of them have rebelled to any great extent.

My first two were 22 months apart, so a bit bigger of a space, but I don't recall it being difficult. The third was a much bigger adjustment, and there was a three and a half year gap there. It did help that my middle child was an exceptionally easy baby after the temperamentally very challenging first (she actually slept through the night consistently before she was a month old). I always said I'd have a dozen if I knew they would all be like her. Not that I would, really, but it would be tempting. I feel as though Kendra could quite happily raise a large brood.

Agree with other posters.  Mine are 21 months apart.  After second one slept through the night it got easier and then much easier.  They really did play with each other.  But I stopped at 2.  I think her future passel will be a little tougher.

Kendra will have another one in 2021. I see her having a kid every 2 years.

Addison is 16/17 months younger than Garrett which technically closer to a year younger than 2.  Michelle had kids every 16 months or every year. I hope Kendra and Joe go to slower pace with kids every 2 years.

I had two in two years. They have no idea what they’re in for. Just wait until you’re trying to clean up Baby’s diaper blowout and Toddler wants your attention RIGHT NOW!  It’s like three times as much work.

Mine are 16 months apart and as for her saying she thinks it'll be easy....BAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Mine are almost 5 and 3 now and while it's better, the first year of baby #2's life was TOUGH.

(Granted, she does have a bevy of sister-aunt-moms around - her sisters & Joe's - so I supposed it will be easier for her than for me. My husband & I don't have any family that lives close by.  And we both have full-time jobs. I suppose everything is easier with free childcare always available and when neither parent works a job.)

She looks like the same baby Jessa gave birth to 3 months ago.  A wrinkly, red potato.

I just don't ever get how anybody "sees" the features of a relative in a newborn.  And sorry, none of them are cute to me when they're fresh from the oven.

I want to see if Kendra's makeup with Addie's birth is as on-point as hers was with Garrett.  Her hospital look with him was excellent.

My sister had her daughters on valentines 2018 and 4th of July 2019.  She really thought that it would be no huge problem.  She got her tubal ligation in august.  Ha!  She says it was because of health problems - bedrest for the whole third trimester, early labor that had to be stopped, high blood pressure - but she also almost had a nervous breakdown when she finally got both kids at home together for the first time (she had to send the older girl to stay with relatives for a lot of her bedrest, so it was hard for the baby to adjust back to being at home all the time).  Good luck to you Kendra

i just saw it too - by accident. was reading about shawn johnson east having her baby and joe and kendra were posted about below it.

so the baby boom begins!

As a Scorpio, I hope this litter of Scorpio girls will bring about the downfall of Duggar Gothardism. They don’t know who they’re giving birth to.

Seems like one of these girls would want to try and outpace Michelle and pop out a new one every 12-13 months or so.  It's not going to be Jessa, Jill or Joy so my money's on Kendra, with Lauren trying desperately to keep up.

Addie and names that start with "Ad" are extremely popular in my little corner of Idaho.

Kendra probably didn't have problems coping with Garrett until he started crawling, which is also about the time she got pregnant. Hopefully, she will not want to have 3 in diapers and will space out the next one or she's going to end up having her own laundry room breakdown in about 7 years.

Not Anna. She's only good for one every other year.

Lauren might be one to watch.

I was actually thinking that Anna is the only one who's shown any overt interest in beating J'chelle. I see her as the only DIL who has any genuine respect for J'chelle and any real desire to emulate her. I think that Kendra and Abby may be too emotionally healthy to want that lifestyle, and Lauren is too vain and emotionally fragile to be pregnant non-stop.

I didn't understand Kendra's statement about being overwhelmed with Garrett. I didn't have to entertain my sons every waking moment of the day. Why does she think she has to either be holding him, talking to him or playing with him 24/7/365? Am I missing something here? My sons received my attention, love and interaction with them yet I had time to keep the house clean, do the laundry, shop and cook the meals.

2 out of 4 of my kids were as Kendra describes Garrett

Some kids are just more high needs than others

I definitely see Kendra and Joy hitting Michelle’s numbers (or close to it). Michelle got started later and had two sets of twins, but the Duggar births are on average 18months apart. The closest births were Jessa/Jinger (13 months) and I think Jinger/Joe(15months). Her biggest gaps Between live births were between Johannah/Jennifer And Josh/ Jana JD.

If anyone is going to have that many kids Kendra would do a better job than most. She would be organized and keep things clean and at least try to see child as an individual.

When Kendra was doing the talking-heads statements on the show, Garrett was about 6 months old. When my kid was 6-months old, he wanted to be held all the time.  All.the.time. Which means my husband had to do all the packing up for our move on his own, and it took me months to unpack the house. But as he got older I taught him how to entertain himself for a bit, which enabled me to cook and get stuff done.

What I am finding frustrating right now is we are hearing and seeing stuff that took place 8 months ago - and life with kids changes a lot over 8 months. They grow and develop and change so rapidly at that age. Finding things tough with a 6-month-old doesn't mean you're going to find things difficult with a 14-month-old. I have no clue why the broadcast is such old material. Once they learned of all the babies due this month, they could have aired this stuff over the summer, taken a break, and then the show could have returned in December/January with the births. Everything wouldn't be quite so out-of-date.

All kids have fussy and needy days, and fussy and needy periods of development. Kendra had one interruption with Garrett while making dinner and eating dinner (minus any edits). For sure a pain in the ass to stop what you're doing and clean up a dirty diaper, and the timing can often suck, but in reality it probably took less than 15 minutes to get Garrett cleaned up.

Parents of infants/babies know they'll be interrupted in most things they do, so sometimes it feels more overwhelming than it actually is.

Kendra will find the next year very hard. It's easy to stop folding laundry to give a child attention when they cry, not so easy to change a one year old's shitty diaper when you're nursing a newborn.

I only put the No Spoilers tag on the episode threads in case a newbie wanders in and doesn't know the lay of the land (or only follows them on teevee).

I see other candid reality similarly tagged on other boards, so rather be safe and not get in trouble. 😁

Oh, I totally understand. It just strikes me as amusing in a Duggar context.

How many siblings does Kendra have now?  Is it correct that her mother was about to give birth as Kendra announced baby #1?  The Caldwell Family Instagram main photo shows Kendra's mother pregnant (again?).

Kendra's mother had her 8th baby after Garrett was born. Isaiah Caldwell was born late last year probably in November. She was the oldest of 7 when she was married so 6 siblings. She's now the oldest of 8 so seven siblings currently. Her mother is 40 and could possibly have more children. There was even speculation that her mother is pregnant again.

She might have 3 kids in diapers. It’s sad that all she will do is have baby after baby for 20 years. It’s disgusting that her parents robbed her of a choice in life. No college no job of her own. nothing just breed for Jesus.

No way will Lauren keep up with Michelle. She’s likely to freak out once she realizes not everything goes back like it was before, the stretch marks get worse, and the weight is harder to get off with each pregnancy and she claims the lord just isn’t blessing them anymore—and poor Josiah breathes a sigh of relief.

Lauren is all about Lauren at the end of the day. And more babies equals less attention for her too.

On the other hand I see Kendra having a ton because she and Joe seem to actually like each other and we all know the end result of that when you’re barely 20 and been proven to be pretty fertile.

  • Love 10

I always thought Jessa would be one and done after pregnancy. She's surprised me with three (and possibly more). Lauren may surprise us all and continue to pop them out.

Early fertility doesn't always predict continued fertility. Right now Joe and Kendra are predicted to surpass Michelle. Secondary infertility can happen to anyone for a variety of reasons. Other complications can arise during pregnancy and birth that make pregnancy impossible. Jessa has been lucky so far that she hasn't bled out to the point her uterus is in jeopardy.

Shit can go downhill fast. Kendra has been pretty proactive in making sure everything remains a-ok for future births. But you just never know.

We don't know yet what Lauren will do for delivery (i.e., stay at home or go to a hospital). But Kendra, like Michelle, has given birth in a hospital and planned that, so I agree that she is more likely to take the Michelle route than even the Duggar daughters. It depends on her fertility. She may be more like her own mother rather than Michelle.

They are very nice pictures.  I like the beige/tan color scheme and think Kendra's muted flowered shirt blends in nicely.  My favorite is the one of Joe holding the baby with Kendra looking on from behind. A different kind of shot but shows they are deeply in love with their new addition.

ETA:   Addison looks tiny but chunky in her own little way. Love those cheeks & her little hands peeking out of her blanket.  I could hold and snuggle with her all day.
