JD and Abbie: Captured Before the Rapture

Now that I've been educated on the handiness of laundry bins to help keep babies in one place, I understand why they brought one for Gracie. What I don't understand is leaving it perched precariously on two beams at the bottom of the boat. One little jolt and that basket falls between them and Gracie could hit her head on the bin, the bottom of the boat, etc. Do better, Duggars.

I am glad to see Abbie and Gracie in life vests, but JD should be in one, too.

That's the plane that went to Iowa.

Maybe we should all quit our jobs and start our own online LCC. A private investigation service.

We just need a good name, to go along with all the different strengths and talents this bunch of posters have.

I'm more in support of this idea than is strictly emotionally healthy. It would be so much fun!

i only looked at the 3 planes in Jeer's LLCs because one said registration pending last time I looked and I wondered if it was put in Jeer's name or in the Learn to Fly Here LLC.  today all 3 planes are still registered to Duggar Aviation.

Whoa!  Too close to home!  Not revealing my husband's clever name for his LLC.  🤔

You aren't suggesting we become part of Jim Bob's LLC stable, are you? 😁

Wouldn't that plastic bin get really hot?

Just asking for Gracie's sake.

Wonder if maybe they just put her in there for very limited amounts of time -- like for a couple minutes when they're occupied elsewhere, taking this picture and the like? That's what I'd hope, anyway.

I know this is petty but I expected JD to have a bigger boat, not a dinghy.

IIRC the Dillards borrowed Joe’s boat awhile back. The adventure where they scared the hell out of Izzy and threw a chicken carcass overboard. It was a good size for their family.

I like the laundry basket hack not sure about the storage container. However, I would put a cushion for the baby.

What's wrong with looking like Abbie? She's not Helen of Troy, but she also doesn't look like Quasimodo either. She looks pretty everyday and normal to me, so it doesn't seem like it would be a great tragedy if her kid looked like her.

Abby is cute.  She looks like a lot of young women at the college where I work.  Gracie really is a cutie pie.

True.  Although the above picture is probably JD looking about the best he ever has.  It's clear he is truly happy with Abby.

He sure is! I just noticed that they're in a row boat. This is no fancy boating outing, and they look about as happy and excited as they can possibly be. Good for them.

Many of them seemed to interpret the theme... oddly. A lot of ugly wigs instead of sweaters, and a lot of "old-fashioned" or "stuffy" outfits that aren't actually ugly. And yeah, some of them are actually improvements to the Duggar wardrobe... (I also think the Lost Girls could have just dug out the plaid frumpers their sisters wore on the early "Kids and Counting" days, and would be good to go...)

I forget if it was here or on Reddit, but someone pointed out that Ben's "ugly" outfit looked a lot like something Jeremy would wear in his everyday life...

Leave it to the Duggars to change-up an ugly sweater contest. You know, because they have do things a little differently. 🙃

Didn't they say it was called something like the Duggar Ugly Christmas Sweater & other attire contest?

I thought Jim Bob explained they could wear other tacky outfits besides the Christmas sweaters if they wanted to.

Maybe I'm dreaming up this part.

I believe it turned into that after the first year.

Ugly Christmas sweaters tend to be huge. And I expect they must have felt that they wanted to -- for fun's sake -- and needed to -- for TeeVee's sake -- look different every year? But if you bought everybody another ugly Christmas sweater every year your home would soon fill up with them....

And if you just traded them around from person to person each year, then the party would look the same every year, just with different heads sticking out of the same sweaters. ..... And that wouldn't be all that much fun, seems to me.....

.I think going with "wacky or semi-wacky Christmas wear" instead was a good idea........Spurge sort of looks like a combo of Dickensian Christmas and Little Lord Fauntleroy Christmas. Nice change of pace from an ugly sweater, I think. As Jana's outfit is, to me anyway.

My daughter got her ears pierced when she turned 9 (for her birthday). and we did hers at Claire's. I got a second piercing in my ears at the same time. No problem at all for either of us. I think it's more about the upkeep than where you actually get a needle stuck through your earlobe. Unless you go somewhere truly filthy, I don't see that there's any reason the procedure itself would result in infection. Of course, I may be wrong, so someone is welcome to explain the differences to me. It just seems that as long as you keep it clean as it heals after the fact, it should be a fairly safe thing regardless of whether a doctor or a store which does them probably daily and would no doubt have been shut down if there was any history of things going wrong actually does the deed.

Places like Claire's use a piercing gun, which are absutely impossible to sterilize adequately between customers. A qualified piercing shop will autoclave instruments it reuses (the way surgical instruments are) and open new, sterile equipment in front of you for single use products.

The "care" instructions Claire's give out are similarly dangerous and dismal. The last thing you should be putting on healing tissue is rubbing alcohol (or peroxide). It's the easiest way to lose a new piercing.

If you wouldn't get a tattoo or hell even a flu shot from a teenager at the mall with equipment they can't clean thoroughly, please don't get a piercing there. Crappy consequence is localized infection. Serious consequences are MRSA, various kinds of hepatitis, and whatver said teenager has on his/her hands.

Did Anna pierce her daughters' ears? Any of the other Duggars? I don't recall it..

Someone needs to wear this gem in December.

I can't speak to how Claire's does ear piercing, even though that's where I had mine done in 4th grade, but I worked at Piercing Pagoda in college.  At the time, the gun was sterilized after each use, and we were subjected to health department visits, unannounced at any time.  Regardless if you go to a store in the mall or a tattoo/piercing parlor, that's not necessarily going to stop someone from using alcohol on a new piercing.  I would venture to say that if you're going to get an infection, self-care, or lack thereof, is more than likely the culprit.

I don't know if i'll ever not be mystified that Jana is still single (only because of their world; not IRL where a single 30 year old would be normal). I really think she's the Duggar daughter that's going to age the best. She's more classically pretty than any of the rest of them.

Back in the olden days when I was a little girl, my grandma would take me places on the bus.  She would always point out the "maiden ladies" (no clue how or if she really knew) and say they had beautiful skin and hands because they didn't have to take care of anyone.  The idea of maiden ladies now is quite funny, but, we know a lot of "maiden ladies" have to take care of themselves so maybe what she meant was the idea of a husband and all that entails. Jana is a "maiden lady" right now.
