She looks nothing like Jana to me. Jana is much prettier. Abbie's features are "too big" for her face or something, I don't know what it is but she's quirky looking. They look happy together though.

Abbie's features remind me of my husband's ex-fiancee, I realized today. I'm trying not to hold that against her.

I think Abbie's really cute while still looking like a normal person. Something kind of girl next door about her.

I agree, she's cute in a girl-next-door, approachable way.  I also don't think she looks much like Jana who is also cute, IMO.

Well, they only have "graduation" when somebody suddenly realizes, "Oh, crap, sometime in the past few years two or three kids have stopped even pretending to study third-grade math and fifth-grade reading!

"We'd better pretend they've just 'graduated' from our high-school-diploma-providing 'academy' so we can uphold our image with everybody gullible enough to still buy it!"

It’s pretty amazing to think about how much JD loves being a pilot- yet his parents denied him that job choice for years.  Right up until Josh’s scandal, and then JD got to have the job he wanted.  

I wish they had waited a few more months before they chose to start a family. However they are at least older than the rest.

No bump cradling and I can see her knees. This announcement doesn't bother me because they are not teenagers.  JD will be 30 on his birthday. He appears to have had more real world experience and is more self-sufficient than his siblings.  And Abbie had a real job before marriage.  Congratulations to them. They look happy and I doubt they will have a ton of kids.

I had my first at 30. A good age I think for JD. Too bad his sisters (minus Jana but looking at you 18 year old Joy ) didn’t have a chance to mature some before becoming a parent.

Not a big chance that they'll have double digit kids, so that's a huge plus.  They've been married how long now?  Seems like it's been a year, or close to it.  

Here's hoping for a family of 4 kids, or less.

Technically Jessa is still 26 until early November. Abbie turned 27 in April.

Slight correction: 9 months married in early August. So, it took 6-ish months to get pregnant? Not bad for a Duggar.

I can't find it, but they did a video for TLC. According to the video, Abbie was feeling really sick, went to see a doctor and found out she was pregnant. 

Also a poster on FJ claims to know the family and says Abbie is due in January.

I only figured it out since I was trying to figure out a conception timeline. And I subtracted 8 from 11 and realized it was 9 months.

And I just went to FJ to read the insider's comments. She said she's been sitting on this since Grandma Mary's funeral which was 6/17. She suspects Abbie is about halfway through her pregnancy. So, it took a lot less time to get knocked up than I initially suspected.

Update on the due date. The Duggar insider days that Abbie was 10 weeks at the funeral, which apparently gives her a due date of 1/13 or thereabouts.

Relative to the rest of the Duggars, I like JD and Abbie. In reality, though, that probably has more to do with them having a smaller SM footprint than them being better people. I would like to be happy for them as a young couple expecting their first child, but I really can't.

They seem like a nice young couple in all of their photos, but there is simply no reason to believe that this is going to turn out well. There is no reason to believe (other than we WANT to believe) that JD and Abbie will have a modest sized family, or will treat their daughters with the same dignity that they treat their sons, or that they will educate their children, or that they will allow them to choose their own life paths, or that they won't beat them,

I hope for all these things, but I wouldn't be sad if all of the Duggar children were unable to reproduce going forward. Regardless of what they display for the camera, they are all deeply damaged and all need real help to confront what they've been through -- and that doesn't include more children.
