leighdear November 19, 2018 Share November 19, 2018 I will say that hands down, they had the BEST wedding exit of all the kids. Jump into a plane & fly away? Unique and very cool. I hope the rest of their lives are equally non-Duggarlike. 24 Link to comment

Did Jesus forget to remind them that an airplane hanger might be cold in November? The girl in the photos is dressed nicely, and so are all of the other young women she posed with except Jessa and Anna. I think since Jessa and Anna weren't asked to be bridesmaids, they probably decided they didn't give a F and would show up looking like they didn't care because the wedding wasn't worthy of them caring since they weren't in the wedding party. 10 Link to comment

BitterApple November 20, 2018 Share November 20, 2018 JD and Abbie are so adorably dorky and sweet. Interesting that she worked as a nurse's aid for two years prior to getting her LPN. If I'm not mistaken, several people here speculated it earlier. Mrs. Burnett in an appropriate Mother of the Bride dress was a shock to my system. Michelle looked nice and JB appears to have lost some weight. Lauren totally hates Si. I feel badly for Jana that the camera always seems to catch her looking sad, regretful or pissed off. 8 Link to comment
SMama November 20, 2018 Share November 20, 2018 I’m too lazy to rewatch the video, but did JB and MEchelle enter the church ahead of Abbie’s mom? Does it always have to be about them? I must admit that it was sweet how JD approached their first kiss. Sadly they had to go over the no hand holding or kissing trope. IF it’s what she wants I truly hope Jana is next. When is she going to be pampered and given the respect she deserves? Abbie, you may like little old people, but your in laws are monsters. I truly hope you don’t end up saddled with them. 10 Link to comment

It's one thing if he had just kissed one hand & then they had "the" kiss. Sorry I'm old & hope you all understand what I'm trying to say. Hardly any shots of the groomsmen to hide Josh and unfortunate closeups of the audience to hide Jill and her idiot. I hate that I felt a little warm and fuzzy when JB walked by Jinger and lit up as he was walking down the aisle past her. It was a sweet moment that seemed very natural. Abbie seems lovely. I like her humor and the way she interacts with those around her. My mom works in a nursing home and loves her old people. It’s nice that Abbie works with that population and seems to enjoy them, it’s truly a thankless job (for someone else, definitely not me!). sixlets November 21, 2018 Share November 21, 2018 Abbie's mom is beautiful! She chose an appropriate dress as mother-of-the-bride. Michelle appeared to have taken the correct dosage of her meds that morning and looked nice. The expression on Jana's face when the parents walked down the aisle was priceless. She was over the entire thing within the first 5 minutes. It takes a special person to work with the elderly and in nursing homes. God bless her for doing it! 9 Link to comment

SabineElisabeth November 21, 2018 Share November 21, 2018 I liked that neither John-David nor Abbie so much as mentioned "the first kiss" when asked what they were looking most forward to about getting married. And when asked directly about it by a producer, John-David's answer made me think he was implying that the wedding night was a lot more on his radar than the first kiss LOL. Not sure if that's a product of them being more mature, just different personalities from the other couples, or what...but was refreshing nonetheless that a kiss wasn't at the forefront of things they were anticipating. I wonder if Abbie is still working as a nurse now that they are married? And I still can't find anything I find particularly redeeming about Lauren. Her singing didn't suck, but I have yet to be able to say there's anything I really like about her. And lots of things I quite dislike.... 9 Link to comment

Popular Post RebeccatheWriter November 21, 2018 Popular Post Share November 21, 2018 (edited) The "little old people" comment got a raised eyebrow from me. But I will still hold off too much judgement for the moment. Abbie is in an actual career field and not a glamorous one at all. She did not seem very at ease in front of the camera and probably made the comment without regard for how it would sound. Given what she went through (probably) as an assistant and then as a nurse, I'm sure she's been around enough to know working in gerontology is not all sunshine, roses, and glitter. I also appreciate that despite her tone deaf words, she apparently chose that field rather than the norm of something like some of these girls say about wanting to "play with the babies all day." Time will tell though... There were more positives for me about her than negative. She corrected John David a few times and disagreed with him. That's a step up from the stepford wife gazes and giggles of so many of these girls and women. She was kind and complimentary to her bridesmaids with the comment about how they all looked. Her comments to her father were not all that inappropriate. She clearly had her own opinions and didn't go with an overly Duggarfied wedding. I liked that she evidently didn't think she was going to get married and was seemingly okay with that (JD too). So many of these fundie girls are all about when not if they are going to land a man. I'm curious to see how that would have gone! I wonder if Jeremy would have been interested in her, as she does fit his requirements of being young, hot but modest, not worldly, not well educated, etc. However, beyond that, I'm sure he wouldn't be attracted to her ball busting personality, but would she have acted sweet and meek to reel him in? I could totally see her putting on an act where she pretends to be more like Jinger, and maybe even being able to keep it up after marriage for a while. I could also see her being fine with not having a baby for the first year, as I think she wishes she could have delayed longer with Bin, since she seemed to fall in love with parenting when she had her own kids. Those two are too similar IMO to get along, but it would be interesting to see how it would have worked out if she'd pretended for a while. I wonder if he would have squelched it when her true personality started to come out, or would have fought like cats and dogs. I could see him euphemistically referring to their marriage as "hard but passionate" or something like that lol! 5 Link to comment

My mother was born in 1929 and grew up in the middle of nowhere but she was a huge proponent of doing things Properly. For the most part I'm sure she would have been a huge fan of the Duggars' values but she would roll over in her grave if she saw how they treat guests. Mom financed our wedding and insisted on an open bar and full sit-down meal. To her, that is how a wedding is done, end of conversation. You limit your guest list to the number of people you're able to treat like royalty. I think we had about 70 because that's how many we could feed and accommodate in a nice little ballroom. Given the way the Duggars claim to embrace traditional values, I would have expected them to be on the same page as my mother. Old-fashioned hospitality, ya know? I guess it shows how they pick and choose which bits of an ideology suit their selfish little lives. But, if they narrow down the amount of guests, then that limits their ability to grift. And let's be real, they really love those gifts. Also, could you imagine the scandals that would play out in their circles if someone was snubbed from one of the weddings. When you have so many circles of friends and those circles are massive---who decides who come? What if the Bates don't get invited? What gossip will that spur on? To be honest, I think the Duggars should look at the Royals as examples. Have you insanity wedding with 1200 people and do a lite reception after with juice and cake. Have that done by Noon-1 PM. Let the groom and bride go off and enjoy some time together, change clothes and then do an evening reception with the grooms family, the brides family, the wedding party and some of their closest friends (people who they actually interact more than once or twice a year at a meet n greet or conference) and do an evening reception. (Holy run on sentence, I apologize but I'm too lazy to fix). That reception could be hosted at a nicer restaurant or a small ballroom with catering and some nice wholesome music. The bride and groom could meet with those closest to them and have a nice evening before leaving on their honeymoon. 12 Link to comment

Anything that flies off, and lands on the ground could be run over or sucked into a jets engine. Pretty stupid, but it's the Duggars. So it's expected. Barb23 November 22, 2018 Share November 22, 2018 I was watching one of my mystery shows & it was mentioned the couple involved had gotten married at that glass chapel church in the Ozarks. They cut to a picture of it. This was the one where Bennessa got engaged but is much too small for a Duggar size wedding since I think it holds about a 100 people. I know Jessa nixed the idea to get married there because of size when Grandma Mary suggested it. I love that church & wish one of the Dugaloos would break tradition & get married there. They could have the selected 100 people for the actual wedding & then a big reception for the masses.at Cross Church hall/parking lot. BTW, did anyone else notice in the wedding video that JB had to make it all about him & Mechelle when him & JD were remembering the spot at the church where JD met Abbie? JB said something like "me & Momma were over there signing books when you saw Abbie....." Since their meeting involved JB & Mechelle, JB will never let JD & Abbie forget it.
