Do they randomly show up at fires?

And you wanna bet than none of them has any firemen training?

Get with it, grandma. All the hip 20-year-olds drive fire trucks now!

Sorry about the above post. I don’t know what happened.

When my brother was three, he had a fire truck birthday.  Our dad asked at the fire house, and they said they had to take the truck out anyway, so all his little friends, and I, were driven around town on the truck. My brother had a great birthday that year. I doubt they will do that now, however.  Please excuse my poor posting. I am in a hotel room, and my iPad is acting up with their WiFi.

Remember, James had the worst 19 Kids & Crap birthday in history when he spent it with Michelle and the Precious Miracle in the NICU. And he was made to choose his own birthday present from the hospital gift shop. I’m sure he’ll never forget that, because I can’t. I can definitely see him wanting to spoil his nephew with what he didn’t have.

So using emergency public utilities is A-OK in Arkansas to entertain 2 kids?

Nice to know.  I'm sure their local resource conservation association just loves seeing that kind of thing.  Probably encouraging everybody to use up as much of that water as possible!

I think that was... Jason? Josie was born in December and would have been home by James's birthday in July.

It was definitely James because he’s always been the only one of these weebles that I can distinguish from the others lol. Now, TLC may have fiddled around with the editing a bit to make it appear that it was James’ birthday when it wasn’t, but I do remember that Josie spent several months in the hospital after she was born.

It is possible to rent a fire truck for a kids' birthday party or other special event.

I seem to recall that some of the kids were volunteer firefighters at one point.  If James does that, it is possible that he was able to borrow the truck for an hour or two.  My cousins had an uncle who was a firefighter and I remember he was able to arrange a firetruck to show up and give us rides up and down the street for a birthday party when I was a kid.

It was Jason. Forever the forgotten Duggar!

You can buy a firetruck, police car and ambulance on govdeals.com.  It's an auction site for local and state governments to sell surplus items.  Some are in better condition than others, but one can be bought for cheap.  It's very possible that JB picked up a cheap firetruck that was decommissioned.  Now, hooking it up to a fire hydrant is probably not kosher.

Yeah, my point was so NOT about the actual truck.  It was about a wanton disregard for environmental resources, in order to show off for some bored people who have no more responsible or thoughtful way to celebrate a small child's birthday.

Obviously they've never heard of, or experienced being anywhere that water rationing is required.

Maybe they DID get permission.  Because everyone knows how diligent these folks are about following rules and making intelligent decisions.

Which was the Duggar boy that had to pick his birthday present from a pawn shop and JB basically telling him to pick the scooter or something so the other kids could use it? He didn't even want the scooter?

Maybe Jana was also sent along to spy on the Dillards and report back to Boob.

She was probably James escort. To do exactly that. Can’t have another boy escaping Jim Bob’s clutches.  Seems like Joy and Jessa always visit together for much the same reason.

The picture in the truck where Sam is sitting next to James, he kind of looks like James, his eyes and nose. Israel looks like the Dillards.  James seems like a nice guy, hope he can find his way out of the house. I am sure Jana was there to keep an eye on him since he is close to his sister mom, Jill, and also Derick. He was really cute when he would chaperone them on dates and Derick taught him how to drive.  I do wish Jenni could have spent time with them too. Ugh, JB is such a horrible father.

There was something written on the driver's door but I could not make it out from the video, on part of the cab it did say call 911 for emergency.

It was Fire Protection Association.

The Duggars and their kind don’t give a fuck about the environment.

Interesting gifts from Sam’s grandmothers. I wonder why Mamaw didn’t stay.

Isn’t she Lolli? Or does MeeChelle go by another name for the splintered Dillards?

Glad to hear Michelle came by earlier. In the comments Jill said it is James fire truck that he got it to have on hand when he is clearing land and burning brush. I guess it is more fun than using a regular truck with water.  They seem to have a lot of big equipment on hand.  Another good way to keep the younger boys home, make jobs for them in the family businesses and provide big boy toys.  No need to go out into the world when you have it all at home. Justin is lucky to have moved even though he is still with a fundie family, at least they know there is a Justin and he gets lots of attention. Plus it seems his brothers visit often.  I wonder what they really are thinking about Josh and his arrest.

In California they need permission and pay for the water used. Just asked my husband because it’s part of his job.

I'm wondering if this was when the fire department needed to check the hydrant anyway.  They check the ones in my community on a rotating basis.  Same with the fire engines.  They need to take them out even if there is not an immediate call.  Maybe not, but I think this is a possibility.

So they just give the truck and equipment to a random dude to test out instead of sending REAL firefighters or inspectors?

No offense, but that isn't even remotely possible or plausible.  Licensed professionals are used, not Duggars.  Lives depend on the equipment functioning.  None of them are trained for that and no city or municipality would just lend out their working rigs for entertainment.

Yes, some versions of the trucks are used for parades, fundraisers, parties, etc.  But not the real equipment that's used for legitimate emergencies.  The entertainment vehicles have most of the functions disabled before being taken into pubic for displays.

was it shown hooked up to a hydrant? If Jill or James mentioned he takes it to jobs where he is clearing land and burning, it possibly has a tank that holds water. I didn't watch, so maybe it was shown actually hooked up to a hydrant.

In our area we have no fire hydrants so all the fire trucks have large tanks and pumps.

No, I meant the actual fire fighters have to check the hydrants and the trucks.  I was thinking that James was just part of the birthday party group.  I did not know that James owned the truck.

I really don’t think James owns anything. Not even his underwear.

No, there is no photo or video where the hose is connected to a hydrant.  In the video, there are a couple of quick pans of the street where the Dillards live and there are no hydrants anywhere in sight and none next to the fire truck which is parked at the curb in front of the house.  Unless there was a hydrant in front of the house across the street and James ran the hose from there, across the street and under the truck; it seems very unlikely that they were using a hydrant.

Watching the video, the amount of water coming out of the hose was roughly equivalent to what would be sprayed from a typical garden hose and, at most, the stream traveled maybe 20 feet.  Seems to be more proof that they were using a water tank and not a hydrant.

If, as Jill claimed, James used the truck when he was clearing land and burning, this probably wouldn't be happening on a paved road with hydrants available; so it makes sense that the truck would carry its own water supply.

I think James 'owns' it the same way JD 'owns' airplanes or Anna 'owns' whatever property is stashed in her LLC.

Duggarfam posted about James being the "funcle." Of course, Hilaria had to chime in about how James has invested in the lives of her kids. 🙄

I wonder how Hilary feels that her daughter is not gonna be a tv star!

Yes.  Either Jill's kids are performing on command (which Sam Does. Not. Ever. Do.  In my opinion.  😀 He usually looks sullen or confused), or Jessa's boys (who do seem capable of performing on command) are very unhappy and/or leery of the strangers from the production crew....or of something.

Edit to add, I'm only referring to the picture posted earlier at their lunch with the former crew, not to the kids in general.  Except for Sam, who never seems to have a lot of f's to give, IMO.

I wonder if Derek was taking the photo maybe that’s why Israel and Sam are so relaxed but spurge and Henry aren’t, I mean when was the last time they even saw Derek?

For those concerned about using a hydrant, the pictures show the hose starting in the yard not the curb where hydrants are located. So (as Jill would say) Yay, James!  Also, as others pointed out if the truck used for brush clearing etc. it has a water tank which might be what they are using to have the block party, less water pressure than a hydrant.

My mistake! I thought the hose running across the lawn was connected to a hydrant.
