I know there were severe complications when he was born and maybe he is suffering long-term effects from oxygen deprivation during birth. Samuel seldom smiles, either. He always looks like he doesn't understand what is happening around him. Two things. First, I think there is a wide range of when kids learn to talk. I have two examples. One is my brother who didn't make intelligible sound til he was almost 5 and ready for kindergarten. My mother said he would go to school with a diaper, a bottle in his pocket and not being understandable (only to me and an aunt). Over the last period before school, it all fell into place. He went on to get a PhD. Second example. Niece, now 19, said no words except DAH DAH for her father. She never said mama. She was basically mute. But she had a way of communicating. Sister in law said the pediatrician said if she didn't start saying more words by age 3 they would have her tested. Just before she turned 3 she started speaking. She is a sophomore in college doing well. Here's a third example - we have a cousin nearby, for now. First baby is 19 months old. He says very little. They just had the second baby on Sunday. First baby is alert, has a way to communicate, knows what people are saying to him. He will be fine. Second thing, but not related to your comment, but, here I am and I had a thought. When the first Mr. lookeyloo and I were married, he was in medical school. We had one, then two babies. I was a stay at home mom, and he worked 36 on and 12 off for a long time. I did fine in the daytime. Babies and I went on walks every nice day, I took care of them and the small apartment. Neighbors were hit or miss. We had a car but lived in a city so if I took it out, no telling where I could get a parking space. Anyway, by dinner time, everyone else was in their house with their families and I tell, you, those evenings can get very long. Sometimes first Mr. lookeyloo would get us passes to something called "staff house" where students, interns and residents could eat, but, family needed a pass. It was really nice to walk over there and have a meal with him, and then I'd have to go home, bathe the babies and get them into bed and sit alone... When he was home he was studying or exhausted and sleeping. So while I love to snark on the Duggars/Dillards, I think maybe I have a clue why she goes to eat with him. 50 Link to comment

I'm pretty sure the classmate who posted on Reddit would have mentioned it if she had brought the kids. I think she attends class with Derick to get away from them. Continuing on @lookeyloo's theme. I think Jill has been taking her kids outside all along. However, it may be that their after-dinner routine included time with daddy and now that he's not there as often, she was at a loss as to what to do to fill those long hours between dinner and bedtime. Hence the friend suggesting the great outdoors and a couple of balls. Plus, it sounds like she packed them up and went to the park since I don't recall seeing any ditches in their backyard. 8 Link to comment

Popular Post leighdear October 5, 2018 Popular Post Share October 5, 2018 (edited) I do agree with those who think Jill is so desperate for content on her social media sites, that she's inflating every meal, trip outside or jaunt to Costco into something, ANYTHING that might elevate her wretched existance into something her followers might appreciate. No matter how dull the activity or unappetizing the food looks, she probably feels that she's making a valuable contribution. She's not very bright and has limited prospects for a rich and full life. Her husband is an albatross and her children will have futures almost as bleak as hers. She just doesn't know any better, so I can summon up some pity for her and the kids. Deartick however, gets ZERO compassion, ZERO understanding and ZERO consideration from me. He knows better. Idiot. Edited October 5, 2018 by leighdear 33 Link to comment
xwordfanatik October 5, 2018 Share October 5, 2018 I can't be the only one that just thought of something like this. OK, here it is. Dillweed & Jill seem to share a brain. The downside to this, of course, is that when one learns anything new, the other one loses an equivalent number of words, sentences, or whatever it happened to be. I'm sure I read upthread that at least one other poster thought that Jill has regressed as of lately. Could it be due to Dillweed going back to school, and learning new words, or even new thoughts, to crowd out all his previous hateful thoughts he's had in the last months or years? Wouldn't that be nice? Weird, I know. 3 Link to comment

My husband was active duty army and spent a lot of time deployed, so when he was stateside, I tried to make sure the kids had lots of time with him. When he had CQ (an overnight indoor guard duty), the kids and I would bring him supper and hang out and watch a movie with him or play games in the dayroom.
