The last thing I saw Gerald McRaney in was Deadwood (binged it during the summer) so I kept expecting him to do something really, really bad.

I think he works better as a mean, ornery badass in a Western.

Loved him on Longmire as the evil land baron.

I have a friend who watches shows on CBS, that is her network.  I watched Code Black last season and thought it was okay, so I watched a few episodes this season.  I was glad to see a black female in the show, but shit, since the show is on CBS that meant

Spoiler

they killed her off in episode four.

Guess CBS really doesn't like black women in regular roles.  Fuck CBS, I'll stick to cable, especially OWN.

C. C. H. Pounder is the coroner on NCIS: New Orleans and they have a black female agent on the team too. I'm on the verge of giving that show up though due to the new agent they brought on this season who I refer to as "New Girl". She's played by Vanessa Ferlito and she's just ughhhhh.

  • Love 2

Code Black...really enjoyed the Neal/Christa pairing and their storylines in season 1.  Then when the show was renewed for season 2 after being on the bubble, they decided not bring these characters back without any explanation.  That killed my interest in the show and I haven't watched a minute of season 2.

  • Love 1

Yeah, that is my dilemma with NCIS:NO, does my liking of CCH Pounder and Shalita Grant outweigh the total ugh-ness of Vanessa Ferlito's character?  Because she is making the show practically unwatchable.  But... I genuinely like the rest of the cast they all have great chemistry and I am kinda liking the hint of a romance between Sonja (Selita's character) and LaSalle (Lucas Black's character).

So I am in for now.  Still.  Maybe they plan to tone Vanessa down and make her not so abrasive.  One can only hope.

  • Love 4

As soon as I saw Vanessa Ferlito's mug on NCIS:NO, I turned away.  I cannot stand her and her acting and there's just something about her mouth that I can't stand.  I know she can't help it, but I don't even like looking at her, not to mention listening to her.   There must be other B-level actresses out there who need a job.

  • Love 3

My mother, who loves all things NCIS related, quit watching NCIS:NO because of Ferlito's mouth. She literally groans when she sees the actress in ads for the show. I'm hanging on by a thread because I like the other characters/actors (& love me some CCH Pounder) but it's getting iffy.

I just cancelled This Is Me this week. I'm a sappy lady but that show didn't work for me. I didn't really care about any of them.

Also cancelled, Bull, two episodes was two too many.

  • Love 1

Add me to the list of those who is close to dropping NCIS: NO.  The cases are fairly entertaining, and the cast chemistry is wonderful. However, the new FBI agent has got to go. She's killing this show. I remember her from CSI: NY. She was OK on there, but she is intolerable here.  She has no chemistry with the cast and her attitude, lips and wild hair is just not working at all. Her presence has completely disrupted the flow of the show.

I'm still hanging on though because I enjoy CCH Pounder, Scott Bakula, Shalita Grant and Lucas Black, but I don't know how much longer I can hang on with VF on the show.

I think I've finally broken up with Agents of SHIELD. I haven't seen an episode in three weeks and feel no desire to catch up. I tried so hard to love the show because of Marvel but I've had issues with it since season one. And, being one of the handful of people who liked Grant Ward, I feel less loyalty to the show now that he's gone.

Lethal Weapon. Good grief, but this show is bad. I made it one and a half episodes, before concluding that it is, quite possibly, the worst paced TV show I have ever watched. They leap from one emotional beat to another without ever letting a single one land, characters act one way in one scene, then completely differently in the next, the is so rushed that it feels like it's just jammed into the gaps where they aren't doing explosions or snark. And the action scenes are appallingly bad, and unrealistic even for a dumb 'cops shoot guns' Fox show.

The acting is uniformly terrible. Particularly the main characters. It's like the producers said 'we want Riggs and Murtaugh, but without an ounce of the charm and natural chemistry. Find us those guys!'

How can shows like this succeed? I honestly do not get it.

This is interesting, because Clayne Crawford is riveting in Rectify.  I will never watch Lethal Weapon, as it's just not my thing, but I'm disappointed to hear he's not good in it.

I think he's excellent in it, and other fans/ reviewers have said similar. I'm really enjoying the range both he and Abigail Spencer are showing in their new shows as opposed to Rectify.

I didn't watch Rectify but I am enjoying Lethal Weapon and think it is a fun action show Clayne Crawford is fun in it.

Blackish. It has just gotten too preachy. I've only made it through 3 episodes this season. Tired of most of the episodes being like A Very Special Episode.

I get it, the issues are important, but i don't watch comedies to be hit over the head with a sledgehammer that Racism is Real.

Last season overall they did much better at navigating issues without me feeling like I was being lectured.

It's a shame, bc I love the cast.

Good riddance to The Walking Dead. Usually, when I watch a show for six seasons, it's unlikely that I drop it, but this show really doesn't respect its audience at all. Thus, I'm done with it.

Agreed, the first episode this season did it for me, tired of the torture porn.

For example:

I've never watched Survivor, Breaking Bad, Sopranos, Dexter, Walking Dead, Dynasty, Modern Family, Miami Vice, NYPD Blue, Amazinr Race, Battlestar 2.0, Game of Thrones (beyond S2).

Surely I'm not the only one who hasn't watched the most popular shows?

Is there any popculture shows you might be missing out on?

Star Trek: Enterprise

Star Trek: DS9

Battlestar Galactica

Between going to college in a place that only got one tv channel over air and only had cable in the dorm lounges and a few years spent working swing shifts during  time when it was a pain to program the VCR for stuff. (It was reserved for Buffy and Babylon 5 use) I have large gaps in my 90s television viewing habits. I've never seen an episode of Friends, only caught up with beyond season 3 of ER when we bought the DVDs years later, and am only now watching Seinfeld for the firest time because there are a zillion episodes on the streaming services. Never saw Ally Mc Beal or Mad About You or pretty much any 90s sitcom.

Any and all comedies of this millennium.  Big Bang, How I Met Your Mother, 2.5 Men, etc.  They look stupid.

The comedies of this milennium are....directed toward a specific demographic that I do not belong to.

I can count on one hand the comedies this past decade that I've enjoyed: Enlisted and Community. Those two comedies are good because they don't undermine my intelligence. Everything else I either haven't watched and am not interested to, have watched one episode and dropped it immediately, or watched for an amount of time but eventually dropped because of boredom/repetition etc.

The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones are shows that it seems everyone watches but me. I tried both shows (I tried TWD five separate times) but I just can't. It's odd, but neither are for me. I haven't watched a lot of shows like The Sopranos and Breaking Bad either because of no desire to. To be fair, my parents were very strict on shows that I could watch and as a 23 year old, I've only been out of my parents' home for 4 years, so I've missed a lot of the older shows.

  • Love 1

The funny thing is Breaking Bad never had that many viewers.  The final episode topped off at six million viewers but those who actually watched from start to finish in real time was actually about half that.  The shows explosion came toward the end from word of mouth and Netflix.

Battlestar Galactica was the same.  It was a critical darling and a sci-fi crossover but in real time was never a super bier hit.  Those who loved it though.....

I won't even get into Firefly.  Sad just sad.

  • Love 1

I'll admit that I never watched Breaking Bad until it was over.  It just didn't seem like my thing.  I can't even remember why I started watching it.  I did end up loving it though.

I tried watching Game of Thrones at the start because my friend really likes it but I was bored, bored, bored.  Never bothered with it again.  Same with Mad Men.  So boring.

  • Love 1

The Ha! Mad Men.  I tried Mad Men found it boring as all hell.   For whatever reason I never got into the Lost craze.

It would be shorter to list the comedies I do whatch then those I don't.  However I never understood the appeal of Seinfeld.

And I hate The Walking Dead just because it exists.

  • Love 2

The Real Housewives and all their spinoff shows on Bravo.  All that fake drama is way too over the top for me.

Not into zombie or vampire shows like The Walking Dead, Vampire Diaries, etc..

Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, Mad Men, Scandal, American Horror Story, Breaking Bad, Lost, 24 , Empire...I have never watched an episode or have any interest in any of these shows. Occasionally, I will feel like I'm missing out when I hear co-workers or radio people rave about these shows, but not enough to make me want to watch.

  • Love 2

I think I might go back on what I said before.  I think This is Us although a well written and acted show might be too sweet for me.  I do think it relies too much on twists though.

When it was off I didn't miss it and I watched it  the most recent episode along side two other shows and honestly don't really care to watch the whole thing.    Mind you I agree this is an awesome show.  Just not for me.

I think I'm over The Affair.  I watched the first episode of this season and was bored.  No thanks.

I've always been a huge Maura Tierney fan.  Huge.  As in I've traveled many miles and spent a lot of money to see her in plays, met her several times, etc.  And I'm thrilled that The Affair is giving her meaty material, critical recognition, awards, etc., because she's deserved all that stuff for years.  But I just cannot get into it.  I fast-forwarded through the majority of S1 and have still never even seen S2.  I hated all the characters, thought Dominic West & Ruth Wilson had anti-chemistry, had no interest in the story itself...I just disliked the whole show.  So, yay Maura, but it's not for me.

Bumping this up: Sanford and Son. I got Sony's lot release of this 1972-77 NBC comedy w/the late Redd Foxx, and for some odd reason, it's not something that's for me, even though I've enjoyed quite a few shows from that time. I think one reason is because of that "Elizabeth-- I'm comin' to join ya, honey!" line that Redd's character Fred said frequently in it, IINM.
