Tarik and Ricky are being lead by the little brain in their pants. They both mentioned how much money they are investing in the trip, and on their 'dream woman' Yet, both have young children. It makes the words, 'my kids are my world'  sound extremely hollow. Their kids should be their priority right now. They can run off and play with fantasy International barbie once the kids are grown and self-sufficient. 

Besides,  Melissa couldn't give two shits about Ricky. He is an walking ATM for her to help pay off dentist bills and fake boobies.   And Hazel is all about harvesting the American dollar. She wants to leave her life of poverty, and makes no bones about it. 

Jon "Babies are humans." isn't very bright, and is a nervous nelly. His Mom seems to know how to calm him. "Cuppa tea, Jon?"  Rachel in bed just waiting to get it on, and Jon, who knows nothing about babies, jumped up so fast to go check on Lucy. Oh and for goodness sakes, please use a condom. 

Someone needs to remove the enormous stick out of Jesse's ass. He is humourless, and a total buzzkill. He's got cold dead eyes. There is no warmth to him at all. I laughed when the older daughter said that Jesse's a millennial so she could relate to him. BURN! I highly doubt they want him as their step-fadder. 

Kareeknee's parents seems very sweet. They really believed Pole's song and dance that he's not an unhinged nutbar. If only they knew that he demanded that Kareeknee take a pregnancy test.  Not only is that an unhinged nutbar thing to do, but Pole is too stupid to understand that a woman can still have sex without getting pregnant.

The guys/gal going abroad aren't easy on the eyes either.

There are several men in my hometown that have gone abroad and married  Filipino or Chinese women because they consider them more submissive than North American women. That was their words. They want someone willing to cook, clean, and sex them up every night with no nagging, or complaining. It's a total misconception they have of women in general.

My husband's uncle married a Vietnamese woman. She is in her late 30s and is a very nice woman, but there is that charm of the the subservient wife that these men like. She did okay, he has to be in his late 60s but looks much younger and is in good shape. He is very nice and she has a good life and a nice family. She didn't have much in Vietnam but I believe she did office work. 

Its easy to wonder why a woman (or man) would do this but until you walk in their shoes, you just don't know.

Ricky & Tarik are both horny idiots. Ricky who never thought of himself as a handsome man now seems to think he's a charmer. Melissa can probably stand her ground with him since she was completely unimpressed & is just getting some money for now. She probably doesn't need him so he'll be history at some point (probably before he even leaves Columbia). 

Hazel feels Tarik is her only chance, & she wants her son back so I do feel badly for her. Him demanding a 'smooch' was obnoxious.

Neither of these guys knows what being a 'gentleman' truly means.

I can't stand the Darcy-Jesse crap show.

Jon's mother seemed genuinely concerned about the whole situation, maybe in part due to him not handling stress well. Lucy is a sweet, calm baby; I can't imagine what he would be like if she was truly fussy. I also think Rachel was just too much coming in & demanding he feed her right away, burp her, etc. She should've just cared for her own child that evening & eased him into baby care starting the following day. She keeps saying Jon doesn't know much about babies, but leaving Lucy in another room & having a strange man 'comfort' her in the dark, is ignoring her baby's fundamental need to feel secure. I'm not liking her at all at this point.

As much as Angela is probably a nice enough person, she's also ridiculously inconsiderate & rude. He's already embarrassed by her & will no doubt have a difficult time coping for two weeks.

I have no problem with Hazel's plans as long as she is honest with Tarek about that.  Whether he hears it or not is on him.  They may not be the greatest love story, but they could have a nice life together, if they can come to an agreement on it (kind of like Matt and Alla a few years ago).

Yup I am aware. If said man isn’t an abuser, a pedophile, an addict, goes to work and treats them nicely I can see why a woman would be motivated to marry him to improve her quality of life.

Yes he wanted a younger woman to care for him and who would be grateful for the lifestyle upgrade he offered. If you’re a woman in that position you hope he’s like the guy you mentioned and not one of the horrible things I mentioned above. I worked immigration right out of law school and a few VAWA cases- women in these positions are prime targets for abuser. I’m not getting that vibe from Ricky or Tariq....Paul is a maybe. I don’t think Rachel or Angela would be abusive either.

Colonization and missionaries- lots of people from other countries have Anglo and/or Christian names, perhaps in addition to names with linguistic roots to their culture but not always. 

Filipano persons often have Spanish last names due to colonization.

Speaking of Ricky, Melissa is the "love of his life", and he has no idea what she likes to do? She likes dancing and horseback riding and he doesn't. That never came up? I don't think couples have to have identical interests, but at least give it some thought. And how about saying "I don't normally feel confident dancing, but I would with you and I bet you could teach me some steps" or "I've never tried horseback riding, it sounds like fun." If you show up planning to propose to someone, you might want to know how compatible you are. Just sayin'.

 Ricky seems like a nice guy. He really can't find anyone in the US? His female friend at the restaurant was very attractive. She doesn't have any friends she could introduce to him?

As an aside, I just started watching this train wreck last season. It seems that in all the couples with a noticeable age difference, the older one is always American. Has it ever been the opposite?

I don't see her withholding sex very long.  She agreed to stay with him at the condo, she was pretty quick to agree to him sleeping in the bed with her with the "barrier," she agreed to kiss him.  She wants out of the Philippines, which means marrying him, which means having sex.  I don't see her saying no to Tarik on anything.

I’m not one to say, “these people need to find someone their own age/race/ zip code,” I mean, who am I to judge, like I know it all.

What bugs me is the sense of entitlement some of these people have, Angela, Tarik and Ricky in particular.  The way they grouped and pawed over their “loves” upon meeting them just didn’t feel right, it was like they were treating Michael, Hazel and Melissa like they were things, not like they were people with feelings.

Hazel and Tarik were funny, each thinks the other is playing them.

I think Melissa wanted to just meet Ricky and that’s all folks, he’ll never see her again.

I have a friend who is very religious, she once said that the only thing we are assured of is God’s love and we’re not entitled to anything else, we might want it, but we’re not entitled to it.
