Oh I guess I misunderstood. I always thought it was speculation the girls publicly (or privately) were made to say they were at fault.

I've read that information here several times.   I don't have any way of knowing if it's absolutely true, however in light of the current events and the many explanations of Gothard's position on sexual abuse of children it does fit the (abhorrent) beliefs that the girls were forced to state their responsibilities along with Josh.

I wonder if the Duggars had a big family meeting yesterday or this weekend. If so, I can imagine that got awkward fast.

I was thinking that the TTH probably has a very dark pall over it lately and I really feel for the ones stuck at home with no ability to retreat to their own home and close their doors and attempt to find a means to cope, or even simply some escapism in a movie, a book, a video game, or whatever it is that may let them forget for even a few minutes what's going on.

Based on the last minute Mother’s Day posts, it seems like there was a gathering at TTH, but that’s probably true of any random day. Maybe they spent the day praying, either for Josh (JimBoob and Meechelle) or perhaps for a quick resolution, one way or another (everyone else)

One day do you think that they will have a come to Jesus meeting and wake up that they did everything wrong parenting wise or are their heads so far up their asses that they can never pull them out?

I wish they would ...before the next generation is wrecked.   But I don’t see it happening

I wonder how Blob is handling the situation with Smuggar because he always has to be in control and now he's not in control?

Every time I think about that aspect all that I can see is either that giant donkey maw in a straight line, lips pursed; or just opening to say something and then closing without uttering a word, over and over again.

I believe Josh is "in the know" of information that could destroy Jim Bob financially and that is why Jim Bob will do everything possible to get Josh off.

I completely agree that Joshie has *something* on JB, and I think this whole situation will get a whole lot worse before it gets better, and unfortunately a lot of lives will be upended. That said, my 12-year old self giggled uncontrollably at the last 4 words of your statement.

Have y'all seen the picture that superimposes Michelle's hair on Jim Bob and his hair onto her? I've never quite recovered from seeing it, particularly Jim Bob with her hair.  He's basically Joe Dirt. 🤣

He'd fit right in with the heavy metal wanna-bees of the 80s.

More proof that she’s a nut case.

Not necessarily (in the opinion of another possible "nut case"). It's really more a matter of fashion than anything else, and what's "attractive" will vary wildly from decade to decade, with most women (I read this once, and at least it fits with my own reactions) tending to favor styles which were in fashion at the time that they felt at their most attractive.

I personally find a lot of the looks from the mid to late 80's more flattering than any of the styles which came either earlier or later. Mostly, I suppose, because those were what I wore when I was "hot". And given that "The Golden Girls" wore only slightly modified versions of those same looks, I feel as though I'd look pretty awesome if those clothes were back in style now. Were the styles of the 80's the be-all, end-all of fashion? Almost definitely not. But do I still find them more appealing than pretty much anything since? Mostly yes. Whatever that says of my taste, I don't know, but I certainly don't blame Michelle for finding the look in the makeover uncomfortable. I can't stand to see myself with straight hair either.

I think makeovers can also make people feel defensive because the implication is obviously that you're doing something wrong to begin with to necessitate one. I had a well-meaning friend in college tell me I needed a makeover and provide me with one. The reasoning behind it was because she thought it would help me in my quest to get some boy I liked to notice me. Spoiler alert: It didn't work.

It was less than successful for several reasons--one of which was she just basically put me in her things, and she was a really pale redhead, and I am a fairly swarthy brunette, and what looked nice on her looked like shit on me.

Intellectually, I could understand that my style left much to be desired (and still does), but someone telling me I needed to change what I was doing irritated me, even though I went along with it and have, since then, asked other people for their thoughts on what I could do with my hair and clothes and appreciate that advice.

I think Michelle's "normal" look is pretty awful, but I can see why she maybe had a kneejerk reaction to it being changed.

Is Michell’s hair even actually naturally curly? Is she still perming it?

Her hair is naturally curly...I think she said as much once and you can tell by her old pictures--they have the look of curly hair that's been straightened instead of being naturally straight.

Trends are tough and don't look good on everyone. I love the look of the current high waisted, wide leg pants, however I've seemed to have misplaced my waist during the pandemic, so they're a no for me - at least for now.

I loved What Not To Wear, but lets face it, Stacy and Clinton, put everyone in the same classic basics. Again a no for me, I would have felt extremely uncomfortable is most of those outfits.

Hair too, can't always be on trend. Face shape matters. Long thin faces look longer and thinner with long straight hair. And hair matters, thin straight hair can't always be made curly, and some curly hair looks foolishly forced when straighten.

Michelle is lucky though, she has a pretty oval/round shaped face and hair that can do almost anything. Her current (& only) style is not all that nice. And her make-over was extreme. She would look really nice with loose curls and waves, like a more modern version of Charlie's Angels Farrah Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith.

Wasn't there speculation here at one point that the new "look" made Michelle look too much like Grandma Mary?  I can see why one wouldn't necessarily want to look like (or remind one's husband of) their mother, lol.

Well she has time to practice new looks.  It’s not like she has little children at home to be raised or anything. ....  let Josie loose on her with a hairbrush 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Perhaps Josie could use baby lotion to style Meechelle’ s mop just like Meechelle did to Josie.

OMG!  I was watching a program called Log Cabin Living andthe woman who was searching for a cabin in Vermont sounded exactly like Michelle.  Her name was Shelley.  The woman has a doppelganger!

Hey Clown Car I heard that you adopted Tyler. What happened to the sins of the father and because of this Got Hard disallowed adoption so how did you get around that rule?

She got down on her hands and knees and begged TLC to set up a completely new show called  "Twenty Kids and Counting".

They didn't adopt him.  They have legal guardianship.

I know that but in a interview with might of been People magazine I think but it's been a few years she was the one who said that they adopted Tyler.

There have been several articles that mention adopted rather than guardianship. So, who knows anymore

The pickle lady obtained the renewed guardianship a few years ago (IIRC). I thought it was despicable, but she did. No idea how she got them. She also found out Tyler’s mom had a young baby, and began pestering her about why she didn’t have Tyler with her.

I do remember hearing about this, and I have to agree with her about Tyler’s mom. Take your son back and get him out of that fucking cult!

I understand, but to pester a complete stranger without knowing the situation is wrong. There is a reason Tyler’s grandmother was his guardian prior to her stroke. YMMV.

I thought that was because Tyler’s mom had a drug problem, which I’m assuming she beat because she now has custody of another child. And I don’t agree with the pestering, but I do wonder why his mom doesn’t try to get him out of the cult.

If Tyler's mom was having issues and couldn't care for him properly I can't fault her for finding family members to take him in.  I personally would never pick Jim Bob and Michelle for that job, but maybe no one else could/would do it.

However, if she has pulled herself together and has had another child then maybe she should think about taking him back.  Because if you really want to mess up your kid, sending him away while raising any subsequent children is a good way to do it.

That said, Pickles had no business pestering her.

Addicts tend to ditch kids without a second thought. I have a cousin who's a user, and she has five kids by three men. Each set got dumped on her parents once she took up with a new guy. It's fucked up to say, but Tyler's mother probably doesn't want him back.

She's since apparently cleaned up and had at least one more kid. It's sad, but I guess poor Tyler doesn't fit in her new life. He's probably better off in the damn cult than with his bio mom.

Taking Tyler in and treating him as one of their own is maybe the most compassionate thing the Duggars have ever done. Not that it’s such a big deal to take care of your own relative (who you presumably love), but they really are so selfish otherwise. So while I think it’s horrible for him to be raised in the cult, welcoming him into their home is literally the one decision I can’t fault them for. I’m surprised that they’ve shown some compassion and humanity, to be honest. I didn’t think they had it in them.

I agree. That’s the one decent thing I can say that JB & Michelle did, just to be decent human beings.

Tyler may be happy there, he may have formed a bond with Jackson and the lost girls.

This is true. We certainly can’t tell with what we know of the situation.

It could also be that her new man (father to the latest child) doesn’t want Tyler and she’s content with that arrangement.

I know it happens, but what a horrible mother to turn her back on her child to keep a man.

Could be worse…. The child could end up being abused for it then going on to be an escort at 14 to get away and then living in hiding while also being found by a secret agent as an adult. 😉
