Josiah and Lauren: He Has To Marry Somebody

I can overlook Meghan cradling her bump since she is in her late 30s and finally had her first child.  Lauren on the other hand is 20 and this is only the second time she has had a positive pregnancy test in the last year.  She has not had years of infertility and multiple miscarriages like some of the women i know in my age bracket.

That picture of Lauren just makes me sad.  I guess it shouldn’t, because she has exactly what she wants, which is a healthy pregnancy after her miscarriage.  I certainly wish for a safe and healthy pregnancy for both mom and baby.  I also understand that becoming a mother is a dream come true for lots of women, even ones with totally different world view from Lauren.  I guess it’s just that the poor girl seems so desperate about it.  She’s still a teenager, right?  She’s been married for less than a year.  It’s not like she has been waiting forever for this or that the biological clock has almost run out.

She turned 20 a few weeks ago.

Exactly.   If you mention having a baby to most 20 yr olds, you would get looks of disbelief & "are you serious?"

My exact thoughts.  Lauren usually wears loose clothing.  All of a sudden, she is in a painted on dress.

It's like Fundie Porn

Before her first pregnancy 🙄, Lauren was not afraid of a body con dress. She wouldn't show a lot of skin but I remember thinking girl knew how to highlight the assets.

This is a girl who gushed about finally getting married after waiting so long... at eighteen.

Lauren has a terrific little figure, which her wedding dress highlighted.  It reminded me of Pippa Middleton as a bridesmaid in her sister Kate's wedding to Prince William.

What is birthing 8-10-12 babies going to do to it?  Time will tell.

I agree that Meghan Markle should get somewhat of a pass on clutching the bump.  Pushing 40 and having a first baby is quite different than rushing into marriage & pregnancy as a teenager.

My youngest sister just turned 21 and spent the weekend at Harry Potter World with her friends. Most 20-somethings are in school and hanging with friends, it's just sad the only thing these fundie girls look forward to getting married and breeding. Well, I can't blame them when their parents don't encourage any type for higher education or hobbies. I hope Lauren's younger sister fulfills her dream of getting a Master's degree.

I hope she not only earns the degree, but puts it to use as an employed woman in some way, shape or form.  That's probably not going to happen.

Wouldn't it have been easier to cube the watermelon at home and put it in a Tupperware container? That gigantic knife looks like it's waiting for Michael Myers to pop out from behind a tree and start murdering parkgoers.

Also, yes to eye-rolling date day. Josiah frittering around for Boob does not qualify as "work."

I watched the IG Story - they had a picnic in a field “where Josiah grew up” - so I guess on TTH land? But didn’t he propose at the original small house/land where the Duggars first lived? So maybe that’s where they picnic-ed.

Then they picked blueberries and maybe strawberries at a “you pick” farm. Then they went to a drive-in movie - looks like they saw Secret Life of Pets.

Siah seemed affectionate a couple times in the video, BUT he also seemed a little frustrated with Lauren at the beginning because she was acting so clueless about what was going on.

He wrote clues on a note and there was a series of numbers. He asked her what could the numbers mean; she said I have no idea. He said, “well how do you figure things out?” She said, “Ask you.” He seemed a bit annoyed and said, “Look it up. Enter the numbers in a search.” She slowly pulled her phone out, still looking puzzled. (We viewers never did learn what the #’s meant.) I was feeling frustrated myself, saying “Google it!”

Hahahaha this will be me, if I'm lucky enough to be an older mom. 😂😂😂 I definitely don't obsess about not being married at 31 like I did at, say, 27, but lauren is ridiculous. I can't imagine being eighteen and proclaiming that you're fiiiiiiiiiiiinally married after waiting sooooooooo long!!! Girl, please. Come back in ten years, and we'll talk.

Hahahahaha regarding looking more pregnant than lauren, I was super bloated one time, and took a fake pregnancy pic and sent it to my friends! They thought it was soooo funny! I had to be very careful that day to suck in my stomach lol. I assumed it was from going on a trip the weekend before, but it was actually the beginning of my rapid 50 pound weight pile on. Hahaha I wish I could go back and tell that girl to only eat celery for the next few months, but honestly, I don't think it would have made a difference. But it was pretty funny!

These two remind me of a wedding sermon performed by a priest a long time ago. He said in some marriages there are two rings. In other marriages there are three rings: his wedding ring, her wedding ring, and bicke-ring.

Eh. I feel like at the TTH life revolves around the little kids interests more so than the older kids (like going to the Bitmore Estate to learn about colors and shapes and what not). I suspect that secular entertainment geared towards little kids is OK. I would be more impressed when they watch something secular geared toward adolescents or adults.

I expect JB and M have always and everywhere put the kibosh on anybody trying to explore or enjoy adolescent or adult interests. For fear that, in moving the goal posts upward from about age 9 or so, they'd be encouraging involvement with "adult interests."

"Act and think like an 8-year-old" is the parental standard for all Duggarlings, regardless of how damn old they get, I would guess.

The fetus at this stage is about the size of a large plum or a nectarine.  So she's mostly cradling her intestines at this point.

I had three full term pregnancies and don't recall ever holding my abdomen.  I understand they do it to emphasize that they're pregnant.  It just looks to me as if the Duggar and Duggar-by-marriage women have weak abdominal muscles and have to support their pregnant bellies manually.

Every intestine is sacred! 😏

I think she's a beautiful woman. I honestly do. However, I could see how she could be grating at times. It's like she's trying too hard. While I do appreciate that Siah made a picnic lunch, which is more than JimBlob ever did, and nothing is out of a can, which is more than his sister Jilly Muffin ever does, give me a break. Date day? I hate that crap. And enough with the "best hubby ever" hashtags. To think, all the time I wasted not bragging on Mr Quinn. Oh well, what's done is done.

The only time I ever held my belly like that was when I was quite far along. And with the twins from 20 weeks onward. I was a whale.

The "made it all by himself" nonsense just pisses me off.  Since when is Josiah so lacking in the ability to make a meal for himself let alone two people?   Is it really that common for a young man to NOT know how to do something so basic?  It seemed like every other 19KAC episode showed all of them making meals, you can't tell me that putting together that lunch was some massive huge feat that shocked and surprised her.

And does she really need to clutch her abdomen while looking at an orchard?  Drama queen indeed.

Doesn't Josiah work for the Duggar empire helping with their properties and house flips?

Well this is the same guy that served her a leftover take home meal someone else already ate out of while they were courting. So yes, making a lunch for two is a big deal for them. But I do agree with you.

Joe was the one who asked Kendra to court while they were at the lot where a former Duggar house stood.

Maybe Si & Lauren picnicked near the log cabin or the tree house.  I'm sure it was exciting enough to be on the show.

Right if I had that on my forehead I’d shave it off.

Wow Josiah made sandwiches, cut some watermelon and looks like a salad all by himself, what a good boy I hope she patted him on the back and gave him a gold star to stick on his cap 🙄

I'm dying to know if that bread is gluten free.

I like that they went to a secular movie, even if it's a kids movie (The Secret Life of Pets 2).  Some people just like going to movies that are easy going and fun. Also I doubt either one of them went to a lot of movies growing up.

I guarantee you their one and only criterion for an acceptable secular movie is that it be "clean."

Lauren is one of those women if she hadn't been taught she would be an old maid by the time she was 20 and needed to procreate for Jesus that would have made it in the "secular" world.

I think that makes her even harder to take because she could be channeling her energy elsewhere rather than being Josiah's proof that he's the manliessly man who ever manned. Narrator: "You aren't fooling anyone Si Duggar."

I predict that he’ll be completely bald on top in 3 years or less.  It’s quite unfortunate considering his age.

Yeah, Prince William can pull the balding look off, because he's tall, has excellent posture, wears clothes that fit and looks generally robust and healthy, The Duggar boys, not so much.
