Popular Post Sakura12 May 29, 2018 Popular Post Share May 29, 2018 I'm sure they gave her lots of warnings and this was the last straw. Because that was a quick decision by ABC. I'm sure her followers will scream free speech without ever understanding the meaning of it. We are free to say what we want and not go to jail or be killed for it. Free speech doesn't mean free from other consequences. Like getting your show canceled and having a bunch of people lose their jobs. I enjoyed the show but I'm not upset by the cancellation. She was a ticking time bomb and it was getting harder and harder to separate her from the show. 74 Link to comment

Same here. I was expecting a PR statement excusing her comments. Guess, she was too hot for ABC especially with their decision not to air that episode of Black-ish. I was so excited for the revival, but then I read her NY Times interview and decided no way I was watching the show. Boy, did I get that one right. 14 Link to comment
Popular Post junemeatcleaver May 29, 2018 Popular Post Share May 29, 2018 Yeah, it was really selfish of her not being able to control her Tweeting. I'm sure she got stern warnings before the show premiered and after her David Hogg tweet and she just wouldn't quit. If she just *had* to talk nonsense on the web, there are certain anonymous message boards she could have shared her filth with. Roseanne owes the cast members and crew that really needed this gig a more sincere apology than the one she gave this morning. 25 Link to comment
hendersonrocks May 29, 2018 Share May 29, 2018 Quote She just stupidly pissed away a hit show. Good luck getting work again. Let's be real: she's going to have plenty of opportunities and money thrown her way. I feel badly for all the people she just put out of work who 1) don't share her abhorrent views, and 2) aren't going to have people lining up to throw money at them. 21 Link to comment

Popular Post mtlchick May 29, 2018 Popular Post Share May 29, 2018 I can only imagine Sara right now as she's hosting on The Talk. I feel for the cast, I feel more for the crew as it's job security that got yanked from under them simply because Roseanne pushed the limits too far. But for someone that had a multi racial grand child on the show, she should have considered who she worked with. God knows if I was Jayden Ray's parents, I would have immediately walked away too. 36 Link to comment

Kazu May 29, 2018 Share May 29, 2018 I had read her show was going to become more political during the second season. This was not a revival. This was Roseanne using a beloved show to use as her platform. The President of ABC Entertainment being an African American woman, I knew that the shoe was going to drop quickly. There was no excuse for those Tweets. Absolutely none. As much as I loved the original, I also had a hard time separating this reboot from real life Roseanne. So, am I upset? Not really. I'm upset about not seeing the supporting cast. Popular Post Bastet May 29, 2018 Popular Post Share May 29, 2018 While I've had a few minor quibbles and a couple of major issues with the revival, I have been enjoying it, but I support the cancellation. On a different show, she should just be fired, but on an eponymous show, and not just that, but one where Roseanne Barr has - despite the valiant efforts of her fellow executive producers - bled through into Roseanne Conner, that's not a realistic option. So, with that off the table (I mean, if someone wants to try Roseanne's Family, go ahead, and I'll be there, but I don't really see a Roseanne-less Roseanne gaining traction), better to shitcan the whole thing that to continue the impression that Roseanne Barr speaks through Roseanne Conner, when everything out of Barr's mouth is unhinged vitriol. 28 Link to comment

I kind of thought the opposite; lesser known crew/cast have fewer options for employment. The core cast can afford to walk away, but don't want to be held responsible for everyone else losing their jobs, so they would reach out to ABC to do what needed to be done. 5 Link to comment

ThatsDarling May 29, 2018 Share May 29, 2018 I understand ABC's decision to cancel the show; there is no way to excuse the highly offensive nature of Roseanne's off-screen comments. It horrifies me that someone who has enjoyed so much success and good fortune in her life can respond by spewing such hateful, ignorant language. Had the show continued despite this, I think it would have done significant damage to the careers and reputations of everyone else involved. People would ask how the supporting actors and crew could associate with someone who said such vile things. In that sense, I am relieved that Laurie Metcalf, John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, etc. are free from this mess, but I will miss seeing them every week. Saddened for the lesser-known names who just lost their jobs and won't bounce back as easily.
