Things heat up when the women are given the power; a few couples establish their relationships and aren't afraid to show it; one bachelor gets annoyed when an aggressive suitor steals his lady.

What is Evan doing?  The path to true love isn't easy?  So you go for the girl that's been making out with the biggest guy in the house?  How does this guy have 2 kids?  He has no game.  I thought Carly's breakup with him was kind and to the point.

Daniel rubbing his hands over the anticipation of drama between Nick and Josh "for people who like that sort of thing." That's all of Bachelor Nation, Daniel.

Aw, Sarah, don't send Daniel home. He just became the new Chad minus the unmurdering! Can Daniel date Haley, or is only one twin allowed to give out a rose at a time? Oh, well, if Sarah and Christian find true love, then good for them.

Oh, now I need to feel badly for Evan, too, poor sap.

I THINK Brandon may be a street sign holder--I had a flash of a guy who was spinning around a sale arrow sign in his Bachelorette package intro, but that could be someone from an entirely different season.

The look on Carly's face when Brandon asked out Haley! Oh, wait, there goes the hope of Haley keeping Daniel. But maybe Carly will choose him just so she's not stuck with Evan.

Aw, deep talks with Daniel! I hope Sarah sticks with him.

The old twin switcharoo?! This stranger doesn't know you yet to pull this. Are they ever even going to tell him? Awkward.

Whaaaat?! Amanda has been making out with Josh NONSTOP all day, and she has Nick on deck if Josh pulls a lip muscle and cannot perform his duties. And yet Evan thinks that he can walk up to Amanda mid-makeout and steal her away with a fake date?!?! This is the most insane thing I've ever heard! Carly thinks she's too good for you! In what universe could he steal away perfect 10 Amanda?! But this confidence is what Carly wanted to see, so if he can harness this confidence and point it toward Carly, she's all his.

Josh and Amanda remind me of that Buffy episode where her and Riley spend the whole episode making out.

One part of me is so sorry for Evan.  Carly is so delusional thinking she had dibs on Brandon or something and making all those cruel talking heads.  But then he goes and decides he can have true love with Amanda and decides to interrupt Josh and Amanda to ask her out.  What the hell are they putting in the water?

Oh, and I second the recommendation that someone made after Monday's episode to go get yourself spoiled.  It adds an extra layer of enjoyment

A couple things bugging me... what is the love affair so many of these girls have with false eyelashes? They look so dumb. And Carly? Your hair looks like crap. You want to increase your chances out there on fantasy island? Pick a color, get a conditioning treatment and a good cut. And get rid of the silly lashes. Everything else about you is great.

Carly needs to cut her hair just above her shoulders and go with a dark blonde color and a side bang.  That would put her eyes front and center, and she would be stunning.  Her current look plays up her chin and nose, which are her weakest features.   And yes, get rid of the lashes.  They drag her eyes down.   With the right styling, she would be gorgeous.   Still, the personality and self confidence need work.   And burn those fucking rompers!  They don't work on her.

I agree, and also  -  I know "Ombre"  is a thing.  But to achieve the look, you have to be subtle.  Dyeing your hair blond, then letting it grow out so you have 4 inches of dark roots, is NOT the way to achieve the ombre look.

Amanda looked really, really beautiful with her hair up - I didn't know who it was.  That's the only positive thing I have to say about her anymore.

And Jared looked hot - like oh yeah, he's hot, isn't he, okay - I forgot -- when he sidled up to someone and just started talking in a friendly way.  Oh, it was Carly.  And he showed personality!  And he showed personality at the end with Evan.  I guess he was looking for the phrase The Road less travelled?  And then Evan starting talking about roads "divulging".  What a wank.

Daniel is just the best.  His superficial advice for Evan was actually good!  I'd love to see Daniel give Evan a makeover.

I always thought Christian seemed like such a catch from his introductory package (haha) at the beginning of Jojo's season.  But she seemed really uninterested in anyone who wasn't a square headed "white guy into sports" (someone else posted that) so we never got to see it.  So yeah I still think so.

I just need some machinations to happen to keep Daniel on the show til the end.  (Oh, and don't spoiler me here. I don't want to see it.)

(Edited to write "uninterested" instead of "interested".  Sorry, guys.)

I am a bit leery because he was so over the top with his excitement about being with Sarah. But I don't know much about him to know if he is just playing the game or was geniune.

It seems like a lot of the people on the show have been communicating on social media and/or by phone, and already have ideas about who they want to meet once they get there.

I call 100 percent producer shenanigans on Evan deciding to hit on Amanda. Oh look, two plates with grilled lobsters magically appear on this table!

How did Daniel steal my heart!!! More please. Sarah, be kind to him.

Josh and Amanda must have the deadliest, most boring talking heads if we are being shown only the liplocks. Too pathetic. Get a room, you two.

Carly Eyebrows continues to be so full of herself--and she reminded us when she had to tell Brandon that her brother was on the Bachelorette with him that she rode into her spot in this franchise on her brother's coattails. Yet she can make fun of Evan. Yeah you're cool, keep thinking that.

Two roads divulge in a wood (and I meant to diverge a secret to you...)  LOL, that was cute at the end.

What is Evan thinking? Why do guys go for the one woman other guys are going for? There's no other choices there? Josh is literally thrusting his tongue into her mouth and he goes over to interrupt them. Insane.

I thought the twin thing was kind of mean, this early. Brandon shouldn't have insisted he could tell them apart, but he also wasn't really looking for that. I've always defended Carly (she gives voice to my inner snarker) but I cheered when Brandon didn't choose her for the date. And I laughed when he said he didn't like people who have been doing what Carly does so well -- being snide behind people's backs. Brandon looks too young for Carly anyway.

Nice to see someone's interested in Sarah -- and I'm actually liking Daniel now, when on JoJo's show he was nothing to me but an idiot who drank too much and thought Chad was The Man.

Oh my god.  That scene with the three couples kissing on a divan or whatever reminds me of that time I watched '70s porn.   Daisy chains and other embarrassing suches.

Who the hell is Izzy, and why has she been punched in the face?  She's the one with the little horse, right?    Or she was the lone brunette from Rock of Love.   Or hell, she's a apprentice grip and they needed another chick and was tossed in.   Her and that guy with fucking Gary Busey hair circa 1984.

The end of this episode was a little like watching a horror movie for me.  I wanted to scream at the television, "No, Evan!  NOOOOOOOO!  Don't do it!  Turn around!" as he approached Amanda and Josh.  Getting dumped by Carly gave him the confidence to approach Amanda...how, exactly?  I cannot make the connection with the whole path less traveled thing - considering how Amanda is already kind of a well-worn path in just the first few days.  Although I did enjoy the Masterpiece Theatre music playing during that segment as we watched the two scholars try to sort out which anecdote best applies to creeping up and saying, "Hey guys!" to a couple mid-kiss, with the intention of luring the female away for a quick snack of lobster, awkwardness and humiliation.

I will admit that Daniel is growing on me.  When he made all the comments about street dogs and rotten fruit I thought I was going to hate him, but maybe that was another instance of him being funny in his deadpan way.  I did not see it coming that he would be into Sarah to the point of jealousy when she was taken on a date by someone else.  His little beach date was cute, but then, I'm a sucker for chocolate covered strawberries.  I know they try to hide from the cameras how miserably hot and humid it is there, but things like chocolate melting off the strawberries - at night - are kind of a giveaway.  They must have a production assistant standing near each group ready to mop them off and floof them with powder every 5 minutes.

When the twins pulled the switch, I thought he noticed it right away.  It seemed so obvious when she sat down that her voice and manner of speaking were different, and definitely not a smooth transition from how their conversation had been going before.  I was disappointed that he actually had not picked up on the change, and glad that the other twin put the brakes on him trying to kiss her by saying she likes to go slow.  I *almost* think the switch was funny, but not quite, because I'm not really comfortable with people being made to look foolish on TV.  I always hated those candid camera prank shows.  Which makes me ask myself the question, if I don't enjoy watching people get humiliated on television, then why on earth would I watch this show???  Maybe what I enjoy is when people make fools of themselves on TV, and just dislike it when other people do it to someone unsuspecting.

Evan just doesn't belong on this show.  Everyone comments about how disgusting and ugly he is, but all I see is an everyday guy whose place really is not on reality television.  I don't find him hideous, nor do I find him particularly attractive, I just think of him as a guy I might stand in line with at the grocery store who seems nice enough, and then never think of him again.

What would possess Evan to eat a damn banana in the intro segment ??   Is he so stupid that production may have suggested it and he doesn't get the implications?  I tried with him for BiP and wanted to at least be sympathetic to his dorky-ness, but he's a whiner, and a weenie.  Such a dunderhead he probably was convinced by production that he has a chance with Amanda.  Either that or they promised him a rose somehow if he did it.

Yep, I thought so too. There was just a look from him when sister #2 sat down that I thought, "he knows", but then they continued on their date like nothing. So my theory is that he figured it out and simply played his part. Maybe even had fun with it by going for a kiss and seeing what she'd do? Not really sure how it would've played out if he had said something right away?

I assume this date (with whoever first asked a twin) was the reason for keeping both of them.

He probably figured that if he was going to get turned down, he may as well get turned down by the most popular girl there. But he definitely overplayed his hand; if he had continued to pine for Carly he may have gained some sympathy points with Bachelor Nation and gotten some pity sex after the show. This way, he'll be known as completely out of touch with reality, and he also looked like a pervert sneaking up on Amanda and Josh while they were passionately making out.

The opening scene of Josh kicking the soccer ball and hitting Nick with it was really OTT. We get it already, Josh took Nick's woman. I'm not a fan of Nick's - he's a smarmy douche like every other Salesforce salesman I've ever met - but even I am not enjoying this level of humiliation of him.

I remember Brandon being a dweeb on Desiree's season, and yes he did wear the jockstrap in the Wrong Reasons rap video. Then he tried to talk to Des while still wearing the jockstrap and kept "adjusting" himself. Carly is so desperate, she'll try to latch on to anyone who's not Evan.

There is something called a reality check that seems to have missed Evan.  First, Josh has "that look" that Evan never will have.  Second, you never go up to a couple that spends all day and night swapping spit and say, "Excuse me, but how about I interrupt your hot and horny time?"  Third, he's already been outted as a horrible kisser.  Now, the last one could be subjective, but c'mon ladies, if you heard that would you go, "Oh HELL YEAH, I can't WAIT to get with that one!"

The sad thing?  He's truly a nice guy.  But, does anyone really believe these babes are seeking nice guys?

What stood out to me was that she came back from the restroom, to what looked like a table filled with dinners for the two of them, and she immediately asks to walk over to the railing, where the lighting is poor.  First  - someone needs to eat that dinner.   Second, if you move out of the light, to a dark outdoor setting, yeah, he might not notice that you are the "other"  twin.  Give a guy a break!

I look at Evan, and I think that someone (his mother?)  told him early on that he looked like Eroll Flynn, and that's the look he is going for.   He doesn't really look like him, but the hair/mustache suggest Eroll Flynn to me.

I'm sure it's the way it was edited, but I was cracking up over how Josh and Amanda were making out NON-STOP the entire episode.  Not walking on the beach, sitting around getting to know each other, socializing with others, eating, drinking, etc.   No, making out every minute.  And sometimes with sound effects.

I am not getting the "I must have Sarah" thing, either.  She's cute, but she's definitely not one of the key lookers there.  And she has a sort of bland, understated personality or manner of speaking that might put most men to sleep.  So yes, I thought that too.

This show continues to bring the funnies.

Jared to Carly - "I mean, you went on a date with him and you threw up."  What more can be said about Carly and Evan?  She should never have gone on the date with him and for her to kiss and tell to all the other girls is just wrong.

Carly's brother was on Desiree's season?  Are they the first brother-sister to both be on the show?

Why did Brandon and Chris pretend not to recognize each other?  I don't get that schtick.  I think I remember Brandon.  Izzy - no clue.  It didn't seem like many people remembered him either.

Evan trying to steal away hot Amanda while she's playing tongue Twister with apparently hot Josh?  WTF?  He's like the captain of the chess team trying to steal away the head cheerleader from the high school quarterback.  It's not going to end pretty.  It seems like from the previews that he spends his time with her telling her how bad of a person Josh is, and not trying to make out with her.  Typical Evan.  Pretending like you're looking out for the best interests of the girl rather than putting yourself forward and making it about you.

I don't mind the twin switcheroo.  What else are they there for?  I thought it was pretty funny.  Twin 2 appeared really nervous and even asked the same question again about why Brandon picked her for the date.  Maybe Twin 1 should have prepped Twin 2 a bit before they switched, though it didn't seem to matter.

I'm guessing it is because he is the "Erectile Dysfunction Expert" it is SUPPOSED to be symbolic. Clearly this is just a light and fun jokey summer show (as evidenced by Chad's T-Rex rumbling ground intro) and this is just more of the same. Seems to me that he is in on the joke.

If I try very hard to shut out everything I know about him and just look at him they way I would a stranger across a room, I actually think Evan is handsome, certainly more than weak chinned Brandon.  Evan has nice even features and only needs a shave and less time  mooning on his bed and more working out on the beach.  It's the personality.  The terrible, terrible personality.  The self-consciously sweet smile, the baby voice, the whining, the ridiculous belief that if he tells a woman something negative about the guy she's with she'll say, "Oh thank you for telling me Evan!  Now I don't like him anymore.  I like you instead!  Lets go make out!"  It never works that way.  If it would work with anyone it would work with Amanda -- and it would be hilarious with Amanda and Evan sucking face on a different beach blanket, five feet away and the porn music tinkling in the back ground -- but we can't have that.  People might start thinking this show was scripted.

But I've lost all sympathy with Evan.  He's not only  stupid and lacking in self-awareness, he isn't even nice. Nice people aren't chronic tattletales.  Nice people listen to what you say, they don't follow up, "I like to be alone when I'm sick,"  with an intrusive visit to your sick bed, removing your ice packs and smothering you with kisses all over you body. Shudder. He's the sort of man that the, "No means no," campaign was designed for. He must be terrible at his job if he can't hear people any better than that.

I do like that Carly got rejected for being snide and I'm sorry such a nice guy had that mean trick played on him. He was probably thinking, "Hmmm, I thought Haley was quieter and a little nicer than Emily but as the dinner went on I could see she was just the same."

The guy with stupid hair should have known by watching the Parent Trap that a twin switcheroo would happen.

As for Evan, he is just cringy.  No he's not ugly, but his simp personality makes him unattractive.  I can tell you for a fact that men who are awful kissers think they're wonderful at it yet get worse with time.   A mouth full of loose spit after getting tongue stabbed makes any guy look awful.  And just what does his lame tattoo say?   Yes, Daniel should be allowed to give him a makeover.  He is Canadian after all.

Jared doesn't like Twin or Twinner.  They're a sure thing to keep him on the show as long as possible to earn a bigger bonus.

I can't even feel bad for Evan, he's so incredibly awkward and lacks the awareness to realize how he comes across. Shyness and quirkiness can be attractive but he seems like the combination of both that isn't endearing at all. Not sure how objective the topic of 'good kisser' is but Evan seems like the guy who has absolutely no game with women that the moment one of them shows him some affection or attention, he gets all starry eyed and thinks that there might be love in the air.

Does Amanda and Josh ever talk? All they do is lay out and swap spit and it's actually quite uncomfortable to see them so often in the background doing that. Amanda is a pretty woman who seems like she has the personality of a limp noodle. I guess if you have nothing interesting or intelligent to say, might as well use your mouth in other ways I guess.

Not sure it was supposed to happen, but I really like Daniel. I take back everything I said about him just being along for the ride. I thought he was incredibly superficial, then I thought that he was just incredibly picky with finding the girl who looked and spoke just right. Sarah is a naturally beautiful woman but I'm absolutely surprised that she caught Daniel's attention because I never pegged him for someone who prioritized a connection of minds over pure lust. His conversation with Sarah peeled back some layers to him and while he makes analogies that seem incredibly arrogant at times, I think that's just part of his quirkiness that women probably don't get when trying to see him as a romantic interest - he seems to make friends very easily though.

Can we get some real conversations going on please? Just give me some glimpse into what interactions are going on that are resulting in the pairings that we're seeing. So many hours of footage, surely production can spare a minute or two showing more conversations like the one Daniel and Sarah had, right?

Yes, it was like the opening scene of an orgy. Gross. Don't these people have any concept of privacy? Well I guess not, since they keep signing up for this show.

The constant making out also reminded me of high schoolers who aren't yet ready to go all the way. I don't know anyone pushing 30 who keeps eating their partner's face all day long in real life.

I must be the only person watching who immediately recognised Brandon. I think he was my early favourite during Des's season. I liked how he was more interested in the quiet twin than the one who won't shut up. I also think he totally noticed something was up, but didn't know what to do about it without seeming paranoid. Maybe he thought he'd just drank one glass too many.

Josh and Amanda were disgusting. Fine, they kiss all day rather than talk, because they have no thoughts to talk about. But the way that they kissed was stomach churning, not hot. From a distance, with Josh's stupid "Mmmm" and "Grrrr" sounds, and no attempts to close the gap. Who the hell kisses that way for an extended period of time? (Even if they didn't spend all day doing it... still gross.) I guess the distance was meant to show respect or somesuch, but when he's not pulling you closer, dear, he's just playing around. He's completely caught up in his own world, and you are a prop. This was the "Josh Is So Hot" show, in Josh's head. It had nothing to do with actually wanting Amanda. I could almost see the thought bubble over his head, reading "Damn, I'm hot."

Maybe he got tired of hearing her baby-voice.

I ended up holding my hand up to block my view of the screen so I could hear what the voiceovers were saying without having to watch that.

And Evan was pathetic; Carly's hair a disaster; and for God's sake, does no one pay attention when they're studying poetry in school anymore??? It's Robert Frost, you idiots. I expected better of Jared, for some reason. I shouldn't have.

Does anyone find the slurping and moaning and visible saliva remotely sexy?  It makes my stomach turn.  It is such a mood killer, and if any guy I dated ever "uh-uh-uh'd" while kissing me it would have been the last time.

Evan needs a makeover...stop going to Supercuts and asking for the schoolboy special.  Shave that "no-tee" off your face.  Then, go home. Reintroduce yourself to your kids and stay off TV. You will only be recast as the nerdy, wimpy puppy dog who is perpetually in the friend zone. Fill out a profile on Match or e-Harmony.

I wonder if any university or research hospital will do any investigation on the long term effects of the vocal fry on an entire generation of women?  Aside from making them sound less intelligent, I would hypothesize that it causes polyps due to the irritation on the vocal chords. Lord knows, it irritates the Hell outta me!

Does anyone else think if Nick did to Amanda what Amanda is doing to Nick, Nick would be seen as a total a**hole and whatever new girl he'd be making out with would be seen as some kind of slut?

From the way the whole Nick-Amandaa-Josh thing is edited, it complete looks like Amanda went on the date with Josh and began to make out with him ever since with no conversation with Nick that she's no longer into him. If the situation was reversed and Nick did that to Amanda (who was so dreadfully boring on Ben's season and is no different on BIP) then Nick would be vilified for doing that to beautiful mother Amanda who's looking for a father for her children. I think it's just really hypocritical on the show's part to give Amanda a pass on that. Say what you will about Carly but at least she told Evan to his face and didn't just blatantly make out with someone in front of his face.

Good point!    Yes, if that happened, Amanda would be crying, EVERYONE would comfort her, and Nick would get the asshole edit.    Instead, Josh is the one who "stole the girl", and Amanda is the innocent object who was stolen.

I do think that the editors took footage of Josh and Amanda making out and inserted it between scenes to give the impression that it was an all-day all-night makeout session.  And really, they are grown-ups, not 16 year old virgins.  Who does that?

It looks like a transliteration of the Hebrew "ani l'dodi," which is one of the most overused phrases in love letters, jewelry, wedding invites, etc.  "I am my beloved, and my beloved is mine." I am Jewish. My wife and I wanted Hebrew wedding bands, and we refused to have this used-so-much-it-means-nothing phrase on the bands. We had custom rings made that are adorned with a Hebrew phrase that actually means something to us.

Poor Evan, everything he's saying and doing on this show makes me think he believes he's the star of an 80s teen rom com.

Yes, if that happened, Amanda would be crying, EVERYONE would comfort her, and Nick would get the asshole edit.    Instead, Josh is the one who "stole the girl", and Amanda is the innocent object who was stolen.

Honestly I think it's rather douchey of Amanda to make out with Josh so openly without having some sort of conversation with Nick first about it.  She knows he likes her and if she likes Josh more that's fine but good lawd honey at least have the decency to talk to Nick about it.

I kinda like Carly a bit more for at least talking to Evan about how she feels and letting him know she's not that into him.

Poor Evan seems so completely clueless. Then there is the fact that these people have known each other for a few days at most at this point. So, I don't see Nick as being horribly wronged because a girl he went on one date with and has known for two days is now with another man. I agree the close-up of people kissing is kind of gross, but what else are they going to show?

I still liked Bachelor Pad better because at least people played games and contests and got to do something. Here, the only thing to do is drink and sit around gossiping. I would die of boredom on that show. I would even consider kissing someone for hours to escape said boredom. Don't get me wrong, I love sitting on the beach reading or listening to music, but these guys can't even do that. I do wonder if they are at least offered coffee in the morning, I could not start out drinking without at least a few cups of coffee!

I also find it boring that so many people are coupled up so early. The reason we have to see so much of Evan is because most of the others are already a two day old couple. Daniel went up a bit in my estimation although he doesn't seem too bright. Jared has been going down. He seems to have zero personality, not really good looking and not too smart. is he only on here to hang with Ashley I when she appears? (Is she on this year, not sure).

Sara is a pretty girl and seems reasonably smart but like many smart girls before her she has a little of the "If he likes me he can't be worthwhile' thing which will cause her to sabotage any budding relationship. Evan on the other hand is just clueless. It what world would you approach people making out to ask one of them for a date? Unless the whole thing, the making out and the approaching is scripted.

What is the German word for feeling embarrassment on behalf of another? Because: Evan, no. Just no. Stop. For the love of all that is holy.

You may be thinking of schadenfreude, happiness at the misfortune of others. Alternate spelling: b-a-c-h-e-l-o-r-n-a-t-i-o-n.

I hold a throw pillow with fringe over my eyes while watching Amanda and Josh.  The fringe blocks out much of the scene and I can still hear the voice overs.  I started using the pillow block when I tried watching scary movies with my husband.   It works well for any disturbing images.

Come to think of it, it is sort of like a reverse of last season's situation where Joe dropped some woman, whose name I can't remember, for the beautiful but wooden Samantha, the moment she walked in.  Joe was a huge villain for being so fickle and some of the men were almost ready to fight him because the girl he made cry was a Single Mother.

In fairness, Joe was also sort of a douche too but yes, your point stands. And the woman was Juelia who everyone acted like she was a saint and deserved to have the guy because she had a child.
