If the accountability partner is to help you avoid sin, what happens when your accountability partner is the sinful one?  I.E. Josh

I know, I know it was Anna's fault for Josh's sinful behavior. /s

So is Jana Laura's accountability partner also? Or does she not need one? I would never make it, sometimes you just want to be alone, as in by yourself.

I agree.  Also what is the point of going to church and putting your faith/trust in God, when that's not enough to lead you away from sin?

But apparently it's impossible for two people who have been brought up so strictly to ever both decide to do something adventurous? In some situations it might even be easier for two young adults, say,  to conspire and sneak out than it might be for a single, sheltered and unconfident one to brave a similar thing.

I think their way of life promotes such suspicion among them, that they're never quite certain who they can really trust. They seem to work at isolating, even within their own cult.  It reminds me of the KGB where friends and family turned on each other and you could never trust your neighbor.  Two of them together might feel exactly the same way, but they would never express it out of fear.  What a horrible thing to inflict on your own children.

So Laura is an adult she had to sign her own contract she will get to keep her own money unless Boob brainwashes her to give him all her money.

I don't know one way or the other if Laura has a contract, but not everyone, adult or not, who appears on these TLC shows has a contract.  Many of them or their parents have simply signed a waiver allowing themselves to be filmed.

If she gets to keep the money, JimBob probably convinces her that it's her pay from him to watch/tutor/whatever the kids so he doesn't have to actually pay her himself.

Yeah, good point. I forgot to note that she may get TLC money if she actually appears on the show. Don't know how much, if anything, non-speaking extras like that actually do get paid on reality tv, though. I doubt it's much, given that there are no unions or anything remotely comparable in that biz. And it actually wouldn't surprise me if those who don't speak aren't paid anything -- some shows have tons of people like that, and I'm sure they just sign releases and then the show doesn't have to blot out their faces .... Hard to say what would happen here.

What I'm wondering about is how well she gets paid by the Duggars for working 24-hours-a-day in Duggardom. She tutors and such, doesn't she? I've never been confident those women get paid much, if anything. Since it seems to be spinster daughters who get shipped there from other Gothard households.

Seems to me that their parents might figure that it's a potential place for them to meet more eligible-for-them guys. .... And that women don't actually need to -- and probably SHOULDN"T, lest it give them ideas -- get paid money for their work.

And as for the Duggars -- early on they kind of got used to volunteer help, didn't they?

Of course they don't get paid, silly!  Isn't that what they would call a love offering?  Can't have these wimmen folk thinking they are of any value now, can we?

I highly doubt that TLC is paying Laura for appearing on the show.  She probably just signed a release for them to use her, like most of the people on the Real Housewives shows (only the housewives get paid).   I also don't see her getting much money from JB.  She is probably paid in room and board.  This feels right out of the 19th century when the only acceptable employment for impoverished gentlewomen was governess or lady companion.

Remember when Jon and Kate Gosslin had their first first show on TLC?  While Kate was rapidly working to gain her nickname of kHate, her brother Kevin and his wife Jodi appeared on the show frequently.  Aunt Jodi often watched all of kHate's kids while wrangling her own brood of four, and was often filmed in her home baking cookies with all the kids while Jon and kHate were off doing other things.

All of that came to a screeching halt when kHate got word that TLC wanted to put Jodi on the payroll because of the large amount of time she was being filmed.  kHate reportedly declared that nobody was going to make money off her kids but herself and suddenly Kevin and Jodi didn't exist in the Jon & Kate + 8 universe.  Not only did Jodi, Kevin, and their children stop appearing on the show, kHate cut them all out of her life entirely.

Later interviews from the Kreiders gave some insight into how TLC and probably most other reality shows pay out.  The family formed a corporation headed by one or two people (Mom and Dad) and they distributed the money as they saw fit.  The Gosselins were paid and if they decided to put any money aside for their children it was up to them.  I suppose if a celebrity appeared they might negotiate a separate payment from the production company, but for the most part anyone else that appeared signed an appearance agreement and were not paid.

I took a quick look at the picture while eating my bowl of Fruit Loops (yes, I like Fruit Loops,) and I noticed Jinger is not standing next to Jeremy. Is this a first because she is suppose to be standing next to him staring up to him like he is some type of God like creature.

Fellow Fruit Loop lover here (fist pump!) and I also wondered why she was not standing next to her headship and gazing upon him. Made me like her more.

Now I want Fruit Loops.

IIRC, PA changed their laws to ensure the kids got paid.

Yes, I know that kids in PA who appear on reality shows that focus on their families will have a portion of the salary put into accounts, thanks to the Gosselins.

But not long after that there was a lot of talk about those accounts.  I hear that 'reasonable expenses' related to the child can be deducted from those accounts.  What counts as reasonable expenses?  Their food?  Their 'share' of the rent or house payment?  Clothes?  School fees?  Transportation fees?  Medical expenses?

Anything for the upkeep and maintenance of the child so school fees, clothes, uniforms, medical expenses are absolutely covered.  I'm sure a case could be made for reasonable food and rent expenses especially if the parent was able to show straightened circumstances.

I honestly have never seen so much belly holding, heart hands on belly, etc. , until these boards!  Why does it annoy me so much?  Maybe because I get the impression that Fundies think they are the only woman to be pregnant???

But I agree, Jinger looks great!

Well, they're the only ones that matter. lol

And she does look lovely

Like a Hummel figurine.

Get Jana into a pottery class ASAP. Sister Jana Luxus Surplus and her figurines would sell really well.

Oh my word, my mother inherited a set of Hummels when my grandmother passed and I just remembered she has one of a young boy in the exact same pose as Spurgeon!

Am I just an old lady out of the loop with things today or what? Maternity Shoot? Courting Shoot? Engagement Shoot? New baby shoot? Why do these people always seem to take endless professional photographs and lots of them? I understand a photo or two is nice and wedding pictures, of course, are taken, but I think they do everything to the extreme.

It never ends, I swear. I remember we took school pictures every year and family pictures for Christmas and that was it. What's next, divorce pictures? With the level of narcissism and over-sharing in our society, I'm starting to regret not becoming a photographer....

Eh.  I was in theatre in high school and a lot of my friends got into photography and makeup as a way to express themselves.  Every other week we’d be doing these semi professional photo shoots and I remember feeling pimply and fat and showing up at the shoots and when the photos came out, they would make my skin look clear, the clothes flattering, and I would have a few moments where I’d feel beautiful.
