 I think he is nice looking, but he looks like a lot of (mostly Greek and Italian) guys I knew growing up, so I personally don’t find him hot. Objectively, I can understand why many people would find him hot. His poses make me think he has a high opinion of himself though, which is a turn-off to me.

Also, didn't she mention that they found out the sex during their "20-week ultrasound"? That would imply they were going for routing ob visits in contrast to her sisters.

It does seem like a vanity scan, however that doesn't mean she's not getting real care. She may have had a anatomy scan at a medical facility as well. TLC and the Duggars often skirt reality.

Absolutely true. We do know that she had a vanity scan in San Antonio about 6 weeks ago. Other than that, we don't know what she has or hasn't had done. And given her Duggar pedigree, and the fact that none of her sisters had nothing beyond cheap ass midwife care, I am not very hopeful. The only thing that would get her to a real OB would be Jeremy, but he may well trust the Duggar Way. It's really broke, but do they even recognize that?

In that picture he certainly looks very long and lean - which is not necessarily my "type", as I tend more toward the slightly stocky in general, but the way he looks in that photo would probably make me do a double-take if I saw him in person and had no idea who he was. Most things he has posted, I just find him rather rabbity.

I think he looks good in the second picture. The first one is not flattering, in my opinion, though pictures with one's mouth agape rarely are. As a general rule, I don't think he's a bad-looking guy (better with facial hair), but he's not exactly my type.

I think Jeremy is handsome, but I'm old school with men's looks, and Jeremy looks like he tries just a tad too hard. I'm the same way with women too. I personally find it off putting when folks look too put together to the point of looking fake.

With all that said, I'm thinking it's a me-thing due to the fact that I'm only a few notches above the Duggars when putting time into my own clothing and hair styling and only wear make-up when going to parties, weddings, etc.

I don't think Jeremy is terrible looking, but I do not like his new look one bit. Facial hair made all the difference and compared to the Duggars and the son-in-laws, Jeremy wins that competition by a mile!

Jer's poseur tendencies are to me, the biggest turnoff.  That, and the fact he was a semi-pro athlete.  He's too enamored with himself for my taste. 

He looks much better with facial hair.  Without it, he looks even more like he could be Jin's father, age-wise.

Okay, I'll just say it. ... Sort-of-successful male athletes who wish they were more successful and look arrogant and impressed-with-their-own-looks into the bargain tend not to be such great lays either. Although they sure as heck think they are. (Yes, Jer's hey-don't-I-look-like-a-model shots make me nuts.)

Admittedly, that's based on my (somewhat) limited experience and blabbed reports from a few friends, both male and female,

But I remain skeptical of the proclamations that Jingle's getting great sex out of this. Would Jingle have any idea what great sex was?

Of course, if my experiences hold true for Jer then it's all to the good that no Duggar woman is going to have high expectations for this. .. Just as they have no high expectations for how much help their husbands will be around the house. OMG, he brought me a yogurt on his way back from the fridge! He is the BEST husband EVER!

I don't generally like beards on guys, but Jeremy looked way hotter with a beard (which IMO, is rare.  I know some women are into guys with beards but I'm not).

But....(if I was single), I still would.  Tall, dark hair/eyes, and athletic-build = my weakness in guys.

You know, I think you're right. I find Jeremy attractive, though not turn-my-head hot.  I'd totally swipe right if I saw him on a dating app and he didn't have some bible quote or otherwise faux deep nonsense posted (and he didn't mention being a former athlete, because @Churchhoney hit it right on the nose with that one).  While Ben does nothing for me, part of that is his baby face. He has nice features and chances are good that when he gets around 30 he'll be a real looker. 

On to baby names. Everyone's been focusing on J, but I think Jinger would hate that and Jeremy fancies himself sophisticated, so he won't go for something so cheesy as both parents and child have J names. I think they'll go with a V name. Remember that horrendous giant V at their wedding? Maybe Victoria or Vivienne. Or maybe something a little out there for them but fitting in more with their Mexican "friends," like Valeria or Valentina.

I think Jeremy is attractive in a general sense. He looked better with the beard. However, I prefer Caucasian men to be very fair (light hair and eyes). Ben is attractive as well- looking young isn’t a crime. He IS YOUNG, (23 right?).

His "me and Jessa" is a turn-off.  Physically, he looks somewhat like my son-in-law.  I don't think Ben is dumb, but he comes off a little like that.

Jer is too dark for my taste, I've always preferred blond men.  He doesn't look bad, but I wouldn't call him hot.  Jin is the best looking of the sisters, and sisters-in-law thus far.  YMMV

He won't be 23 until May 19.  I always thought Ben acted a little effeminate.  It's the way he talks that I can't stand, plus the fact that when he was introduced on the show he didn't know how to use a hammer and a saw when he helped the Duggar boys.  Jim Bob ended up having him mow lawns because that's all he seemed capable of doing.  Also, the attempts at being romantic with Jessa (like the creepy love letters) are more like what you would expect from a 12-year-old girl.

I actually found bearded Jeremy hot (in pictures) until I saw him on the show.  I found him effeminate, which I think is a common trait in this fundie lifestyle.  I think they tend toward beta male so they need submissive women to make them feel they are in charge.

That's why I still can't get on board with Ben, even though it seems like maybe he's as good a husband as a fundie can get? That whole thing was so creepy considering how not-into it Jessa was that he came off as controlling and a potential future abuser. I'm mostly convinced I was wrong, but part of me is still waiting for him to snap.

I think Bin was brought up with a very rose-coloured view of romance and marriage, very Disney old fashioned, and was acting like he thought he was supposed to do according to that rose-coloured view (hence the over the top love letters, gushing over the wonderfulness that is Jessa etc). His love letters weren't creepy imo, just very old-fashioned and cringe. Like a very sheltered fourteen year old boy copying from a Victorian "how to write a love letter to your betrothed" instruction book. I think he is (or was, Jessa might have beaten it out of him) a romantic at heart but real marriage has been quite the reality check for him and isn't even remotely what he expected it to be. However, I don't think he has any abusive tendencies at all; he seems more the type to withdraw and suffer in hurt silence.

From what little I've seen of Jeremy, he seems to be more mature in this respect; there appears to be a somewhat realistic view of marriage and how it should work. I still find him an overbearing, arrogant professor Higgins wannabe oddly obessed with what other people do with their genitals, but at least he's an adult overbearing, arrogant professor Higgins wannabe oddly obessed with what other people do with their genitals.

My first thought on the half birthday thing was, can a Dugger even do "math" to figure out when that is? But then I remembered they can manage to track period cycles and due dates, so maybe they can.

For these boutique ultrasound places, and apologies if this has been answered before and I missed it, are they only for determining the sex and getting pictures? Are they allowed/able to make any diagnoses on any kind of abnormalities? If they see something is potentially wrong, are they obligated to give the woman a referral to a real doctor? Just seems like something that I would have expected to be a little more well regulated than it seems to be.

They wouldn't be allowed to make diganoses, period, since they're not doctors. But I don't know if they're legally obligated to refer patients if they see something wrong. That's likely something that varies by state, and Texas being Texas, I'm going to make the educated guess that boutique ultrasounds are entirely unregulated. Although, I have to wonder if they hire people competent enough to spot anomalies to begin with, so the whole issue of obligation and referral might be moot.

The boutique places make sure to get a disclaimer signed before any ultrasound that says it is being done purely for entertainment, that no medical professional will be viewing or interpreting it and that no medical information will be obtained.  I suppose a conscientious ultrasound technician might tell the woman if there appears to be something amiss (a well trained prenatal ultrasound tech knows when there's something obviously wrong); but the clients are informed very clearly that there are no guarantees or diagnoses made.

I read a brief article a while back that a vanity scan place wasn't even really doing scans. They were showing like a test scan or something and every woman saw the same 'scan' and left the place with the same photos. Hmmm, maybe it was owned by Duggar Studios.

Agree.  Jeremy has the benefit of not only distance but living away in the sports world for a tiny bit.  Ben seems pretty happy to let Jessa take the reins, except for relegating his playstation to the closet.  Derelict has already started snapping; Austin I can see snapping when he realizes how immature Joy truly is, and Josh is gonna snap at some point because he's not going to be able to live without his porn and other issues.

when my daughters had their scans to find out gender, they had to give the name and address of their doctor and were told that a report would be sent to their doctor if there was anything amiss. they personally were not notified, but that the doctor would be given a head sup.

I'm sure Jeremy smells the best of all the Duggar &  Duggar son-in-law men.  He seems to be the type to regularly wear cologne or at the least, a nice aftershave as well as having good hygiene habits.  That's a lot to be said for in this family.

We should set up a system -- everyone's base score is ten, and s/he gets points for each act of hygiene: +1 for uses soap, +2 for hair appears clean and combed, +3 for no pit stains, and so on. We take points off for obvious hygienic sins: Jilly's ratty hair gets her -3, Smuggar's grease gets him -4.
