Did Jinger get her GED?  Getting a degree from a real college would expand her horizons so much, and I suspect it would help her feel more comfortable with Jeremy's family and friends.  Thankfully, preacher's spouses are no longer expected to work free for the church almost full-time, but there is still some expectation that they will help with Sunday School, etc.  Even an associate's degree in early childhood development, art, music, etc. would be a plus for Jinger and for Jeremy.  

There are some very good online programs if she wants to stay home with the baby.  Although it would be great if she could attend some live classes, too.  

I just never want to see Jinger sitting in a classroom with Jeremy because she does not have her own life.  The whole Jill as study buddy story creeped me out.

Someone in the comments noted that Jingle's dress is from Brooks Brothers. I'm assuming she got it on sale or snagged it at the outlet mall, but my, my! Looks like her thrift store days are over. I can't imagine the Laredo Goodwill is teeming with designer duds.

And it was Jinger herself who replied she got it at Brooks Bros ? Jeremy's high-end sartorial taste is certainly rubbing off on her. She was previously Instagrammed in a blouse from there also. That post had the store tagged, so maybe they got the merch in exchange for advertising?

When they first moved to Laredo, I looked it up on google maps, and they have a sizeable Tanger outlet! They had a Nike there. Remember when Jing was dressed in head to toe Nike? I suspect Jeremy quite frequently can be found at the Tanger outlet. If it's anything like the ones in NC, they really do have some nice clothes!

I don’t know if Jinger has her GED. They used to post it when one of them “graduated”, but that was a long time ago.

Jinger had a great opportunity to further her education since she waited a year after marriage to get pregnant, but she didn’t do so. From what we’ve seen, she didn’t do much without Jeremy at her side.

Personally, I think Jeremy likes her the way she is because then he can spew his hatred and most of it will go over way her head. The same goes for Derick. He likes his wife the way she is because most of the time she doesn’t get it. 

Jeremy is a just a prettier version of Derick.

Those outlets are amazing.  I’ve gotten North Face jackets for $60, discounted from $350.  You have to shop smart and buy off season, and be okay one season behind the trends.  You can get designer brands for just a lil more than a thrift shop.  Jinger also follows Brooks Brothers on IG, so I assume she likes their aesthetic and that could also explain why she looks so put together now.  She follows other brands and bloggers for inspiration.

Jinger has her GED, but Jessa does not.  If you remember, Jessa was put in charge of the home school studies when she lived at the Duggar compound.  Other than Jinger, no sibling younger than Jessa ever passed the GED test. Jana didn't pass the test either, but John David did.

Wow, I didn’t know that about Jana and the younger ones. What a shame. Their haphazard homeschooling did them no favors, and their stupid parents stifled any ambition and natural curiosity that they might have had. 

They are all doomed to a life of mediocrity, and they’re too dumb to notice.

Jeremy's parents really seem to be enjoying that first grandbaby.  It's cute.  I loved the pic with Grandpa.  Very sweet!

On the GED subject, I thought Jessa was the one with the GED, which was why she was able to take over homefooling.  I don't remember hearing that Jinger took the GED.  I feel for those kids.  I still wonder why Josh didn't try to improve his education.  He certainly could have taken the GED and gone on to college.  I know he is persona non grata, but it has to hurt to see Derwood going to law school, which was supposedly his dream.  I guess he's too lazy to do it because I would think with his lack of income, he could get some funding.  Of course, their stupid teachings that you can't take on debt are yet another way they hold their kids back and keep them from becoming educated.  They probably have no idea about grants and student loans that would allow them to better themselves.  JimBoob and MEschelle are just horrible!!!

I really wish Josh would write that tell all book.  It needs to come from one of the older kids like him who lived through the hungry days while daddy spend bucket loads of money on a vanity campaign and left them with their mother who was apparently having a nervous breakdown.

I liked your post but I had to quote this part- I don’t want the tell all book from Josh. Because even though what he might be saying is true (I mean it is, about the closed quarters etc), he repeated molested and terrorized his little sisters and THEN very smugly and arrogantly stood by while they had to clean his dirty underwear, cook his meals and made jokes about their first kiss and incest in Arkansas. 

He can just be quiet. I wouldn’t want him to profit from his parents poor choices. If I actually thought he’d spend it on The M kids that would be one thing but it would probably go to sex workers and porn.

It's sad, because it's less than mediocrity. When I think of someone mediocre, they usually have a high school education and a job, just not a great one. Women who are functionally literate and homemakers who don't cook or clean would fall far below mediocre IMO!

These are the kids Michelle says passed the GED test:  Josh, John David, Jill, and Jinger. You can go back and read all of the posts on Michelle's blog.  Homeschool graduation used to be at age 16; now it is at age 17.  So, only 4  of the 13 kids over the age of 17 have passed the GED test.  This means that most of the Duggar siblings would have difficulty finding a job at a burger joint.

All the high school "diplomas" we've seen lately have been homespun, not official. I know some states have very lax rules when it comes to homeschooling, but I can't imagine that most potential employers would accept a home printed piece of paper with the words Duggar Academy on it as evidence of an applicant's qualifications. Surely homeschoolers must pass some kind of official exam in order to count as high school graduates?

That's funny. I always pegged Jana and Jessa for the most intelligent of the older girls. Maybe they're just better spoken. Jill is obviously an idiot, but maybe Jing has some hidden intelligence.

Jill strikes me as being more “book smart” than “street smart.” But Jana and Jessa could probably function better than she could without a husband or a father telling them what to do.

Just about the only "book" that statement would be valid for as far as Jill is concerned is the Bible and that may be debatable (I'm not a Christian, so don't ask me). ?

I like Diana's and daughter's diastema smiles.  I have a small one myself, and had it duplicated when I had my upper "smile 6" teeth crowned several years ago.

Ooh, does SIL (don't know her name) show a hint of naughty cleavage there?  I like her already.  Nothing fundie about that!

I also wonder what Jing and SIL would have to talk about!  I imagine stories about Jeremy growing up, the Bible, and not sure what else there could be.
