Eggs are healthy and extremely economical. If they're happy eating a frittata or scrambled eggs a few nights a week, that's a huge grocery savings (and goes towards explaining how they can be so well dressed-they may choose to be frugal in other areas).

Jill and Jeremy have a fancy, expensive expresso machine, and an expensive water filtration system.

In my newlywed days, we had the cheapest Mr. Coffee and drank from the tap. (Still do). That dinky church with the rotting window frames cannot provide him with much income, if any at all. TLC money, for sure.

Jeremy, Jinger and JD are all in traditional church clothes. Jill and Derick look super casual. Jeans? I realize they were traveling but they had nice clothes for the wedding.

Wonder if that ticked Jeremy off, ya know, like a little respect issue there? Maybe I'm over reading but I did notice it.

Oh, I don't know. I have a 50 year old bachelor friend that posts about his vacation trips to Spain, Ireland, etc.

2. The Duggars do not know the true meaning of respect even if the dictionary came up and slap them along side the head.

For a fundie girl, JD seems to be a decent guy. I liked when he appeared sincerely mad and disgusted by Josh. Prior to that, i never noticed him very much.

Actually, both their expressions there make me think of performing seals.

Jill's is more obvious and we're very used to seeing her fly-catching look. But Jingle's strained and putting on something "for the camera," too, I think. Makes me wonder whether they're not just conditioned to pretty habitually be performing seals.

Maybe this is what happens to you if you've spent most of your life being in a cult that tells you to have a smiling countenance no matter what and then you're required to pretend your life is a holy fairyland for reality TeeVee. To me it's sort of as if some kind of phony baloney "I'm having fun" look is just their default position for the camera most of the time. It's been both their "faith" and their "job" for as long as they can remember, so it's just reflex y now, mostly.

They may get over it someday. But old habits that you were forced to have are damn hard to break. It probably hasn't even occurred to them yet that those expressions aren't absolutely normal and absolutely relaxed. Even though they're really evidence that they're uptight as hell in the pictures.

I often wonder if JD was attracted to Anna which made him seem more upset and angry over the cheating and porn watching. Maybe JD is wanting a girl like Anna instead of a girl like his sisters or his mother.

I don't think Jinger and Jill are besties. I don't think they hate each other but I can't see that these two couples are close. I bet Jeremy can't stand Derick and that's the root of the bigger issue.

Jinger probably tried to make the best of it and smiled like Jill wanted her to.

Or maybe Anna and JD are good friends? Their personalities would kinda go together...I could see a friendship happening. JD probably thought Anna deserved much better. And she did.

Right???!!! I have a cousin in Ohio (I am CA) who told me she was going to surprise us for Christmas had she gotten some $ she was waiting for. I love her but man, I would have been pretty upset. You don't just 'drop in'! In theory it seems like a good idea to surprise someone because you love each other blah, blah, blah but the reality of it is your surprise visit could be really bad due to timing (and for us, we were having a record breaking fire). Plus, she is a handful and I need time to prep myself! And time to clean, get food together, etc. What if financially it is a hard time for people to accept guests? I am in the always NO camp for surprises like that.

Jinger's expression bothers me too. It seems very "mean girl." It reminds me of the cool girl at school who is forced to be photographed with the loser, and kind of half-asses a smile in a fake, "I didn't really want to take this picture and I want the whole world to know it" kind of way. I'm sure if bestie Jessa had held up the camera and said, "selfie time!" Jing would have been over there in seconds pushing her face against Jessa's and grinning. Because it's Jill, she keeps doing what she's doing and gives an aggrieved look that sorta kinda passes for a smile, but implies she's being forced to take this picture against her will. Jill probably held the camera up and expected Jinger to walk over to her, but jing left her hanging. Then Jill is the uncool girl who doesn't realize Jinger is embarrassed to be in the picture and posts it.

Given Jill’s reported role as the “snitch” in the family, Jinger just may not like her.

It looks like Jill took the picture while Jinger was in the middle of cooking something. Jinger has her sleeves pulled up. I don't think it was a slight or anything, she looks like she is tired and fake smiling. If anything, Jill could have been considerate and waited to take the picture until Jinger was out of the kitchen and relaxing.

I’m going to cut Jinger some slack here. If an annoying relative showed up for a surprise visit with her baby and her crazy husband, I don’t think I would have the patience or energy to fake a goofy smile for her obnoxious selfies either.

You are probably right. Very likely, she looked at the photo and thought "I look awesome!" and posted happily. The more I look at it, I think Jill was ready but Jinger's smile had not quite formed, Her face looks in transition from one expression to another and those pics are always dreadful.

In all the years I've been watching the Duggars, that's the first time I've ever seen Jinger and Jill spending time together.

In such a large family, I don't expect all siblings to be close, but given the level of isolation and the way their parents denied them normal friendships, it's strange that Jessa/Jinger are like virtual strangers to Jana/Jill.

I remember when she was engaged and the girls were traveling somewhere (wedding dress shopping, maybe?). Jill was finishing packing her bag, and said something to Jessa about wearing whatever extras Jessa packed, and when Jessa replied that she had planned what she would wear each day and didn't pack any extras, Jill got pretty snotty about it and Jessa had this, "I am so done with your shit," look on her face.

This, plus Jessa and Jinger seemed to only get the "fun" chores, like going out and buying clothes. Jana and Jill seemed more into the everyday grunt work.

I think it's all part of Gothardism. The parents tell the children (and everyone else) that they are all "best friends" regardless of the reality. Since they have no other frame of reference, they believe that its must be true and that any negative feelings they have for each other should be suppressed. Meanwhile, Gothard's teachings pit the siblings against one another in a sad and desperate attempt to win some scrap of attention or affection from their parents. Yeah for such a close family few of them seem to be that close. JB and Michelle pitted each and every one of those kids against each other. They continue to do so to this day. I foresee very few of the Duggarlings having anything to do with each other beyond a superficial level once JB and Michelle pass on.

Well, he's not entirely wrong. Just about 99% wrong. I haven't read the book but I'm guessing he's using the examples of Ernst Röhm and Rudolf Hess, both close friends of Hitler, to make his point. Both has been rumoured to be gay (Röhm pretty definitely was, as were apparently a number of his senior officers in the SA but don't quote me on that) and at least initially they were very influential in the Nazi party. Hess remained friendly with Hitler but Röhm was executed and his brownshirts essentially destroyed during The Night of the Long Knives. And thousands of gay people were later sent to the camps.
