That was one of the most cruel and vile comments I've heard on these shows and that says a lot.

She was on watch what happens live and a caller asked if she regretted that comment. She said she still thinks it’s funny

Yeah because missed motherhood is hilarious.

She's awful.

In one of her talking heads seasons ago, she says she listens and observes and stores bad behavior of them in her head.  Then when the mood strikes her, she’ll attack.  Who in their right mind would be friends with a person like that?  I won’t miss her, but I will miss BSM and all the weird stuff in her house.  I miss Sonja’s townhouse too.  I also liked LuAnn’s house on the Hudson River.

Dorinda admitted that in a TH?!? Can you remember which season? I would definitely step away from that friendship after watching that TH. I will miss her holiday decorations. “That looks like Bethenny crying.”

I actually really like Leah on the show - except when she gets out-of-control drunk.  It's not fun in the same way Dorinda's outbursts are not fun.  I like that she laughs alot and seems to really enjoy the other women not only inspite of the age difference but because of the age difference.  I think she learns a bit from them, and they learn a bit from her, and she has bridged the age gap really well.  Having said this, I don't like her in the media outside the show. This might be harsh, but she doesn't offer much that's new, interesting, or inspiring - at least not enough for me to tune into her social media accounts and interviews.

I'm probably a voice of one, but I like a mixture of ages.  I'd really like to see Ramona, Luanne, and Sonja return but introduce 1 or 2 more younger women with interesting careers that reflect NYC, e.g. Wall Street, museums, or maybe even a female ferry captain or something...I dunno.  Just something interesting and unique.  I really like Tinsley and don't think we saw all that's there because of Dorinda. If they bring in younger more diverse women, I would like to have seen Tinsley in the mix.  She's a throw-back to the socialite days and it would be interesting to see them all together.

That’s fair — I’m not interested in her clothing brand either. I just like her on the show for the reasons you stated, and am also in favor of different ages. We just need more NYC housewives, period, lol. The vibe between Tinsley, Leah, and Sarah was silly and light. I enjoyed that.

Lots of contraversy about this over on the Reddit Bravo boards right now.

Made me look!

So, I don't know if this is Photoshop at work, but there's a post over there with an image of Dorinda's Instagram account showing comments Dorinda made in response to the rumor of her possibly returning that are no longer there.  I guess the emoji hands together could represent Dorinda's hope that the rumors are true - or her way of saying thanks to the poster for supporting her.

I hope Bravo doesn't reconsider, because I think Dorinda needs help with her alcohol problem. Maybe being fired will be her "bottom" and she will finally admit she needs help. Different scale but being fired is a wake-up call for many.

Yes she did say that.  I’m on season 9 now, so it must have been maybe on 7, 8 or 9.  After she said that, she made a motion like she had a gun in her hand and was shooting someone.  Unbelievable.  Bethenny was crying, again.  Always wound up tight, but good t.v.    It’s funny, but I always thought these shows were scripted, but now I see, they are not.  So much is true.

Maybe part of her dismissal was when it went from being nasty on camera, to treating the production staff badly. When you see what is happening over at the Ellen Degeneres show, it may be TPTB did not want bad press leaking out about how horribly they allow their employees to be treated by these two bit reality players. Ellen is a huge star and is getting raked, it may just have been the sea change that made Bravo put a halt to Queen Dorindas rampages off camera (there’s no way you can convince me she can control her vile behavior to only when “filming”.

And by the way, my husband died at 40 years old, I’m 53, and never once have I used his death as an excuse to treat people like garbage. Just sayin’.

Agreed. I'm catching up on NYC after many seasons of not watching. I think the last time I watched Aviva was still on hurling her artificial leg around.

I probably wouldn't care for her in real life, but on the show, I don't mind Leah when she's not drinking - she seems to enjoy interacting with the various women, and when sober, can sort of act as a bridge or voice of reason between women who are feuding. She's completely out of control when she's drunk, but it sounds like she's recently tried to clean up her act and dry out again.

I can recall reading about Tinsley and her "it girl" status years ago. I fully expected to be irritated by her, but was surprised that I liked her - there was nothing malicious or mean about her. I would have liked to have known more about her, but her airtime seemed to be limited to other people bullying her. The other ladies were only nice to her after she had packed up to leave. I found myself rooting for her to build a new life for herself in Chicago, even if things don't wind up working out with her fiance. In fact, I would LOVE a Chicago HoWives franchise with her as part of the cast, even though the idea of a Chicago show has been shot down in the past.

I agree that it would be more interesting to include real movers and shakers on the NYC show - people who actually DO things that would be interesting to follow on camera. These women literally have no lives - the show has devolved into a tedious mess of drunken dinners and parties where people get into screaming fights.

And as for Dorinda? YIKES! This season was my first intro to her. After watching her, I can see why people might have liked her in earlier seasons. She does have a warm, lively and fun presence when she's not drinking. Also an attractive down-to-earth den-mother quality. But she really is like Jekyll and Hyde - the nail spitting rage she flies into when she sets her sights on someone, holy smokes! Her tendency to fixate on certain people to bully was disturbing to watch.  There was no way Tinsley deserved the treatment she meted out. She's clearly got some deep psychiatric problems and anger issues going on - her refusal to hear anyone out who is trying to help her is telling. I question how healthy her relationship with her late husband actually was. As others have pointed out, I believe she loved and still grieves the lifestyle he afforded her. I know people have bagged on her daughter, but I shudder to think what kind of childhood she had with such a volatile mother.

Leah on the show is much different from real life/her podcast/social media. The podcast is crazy. She’s toned it all down a lot since joining the show.

I do like the idea of the show adding some younger women with interesting careers, lives to mix with the other women.

key word: Interesting

Interesting does not include neverending cabaret show, cougers drunkenly hitting on anyone with M checked on their drivers license, high decibel, drunken verbal cage fights, even their trips abroad are just more of the same.

These chicks are boring.

This is my problem with NY, BH, and OC, though all the shows suffer to some extent, these are the worst.. None of the women seem to be living their authentic lives in any way. They simply live for the camera. There is nothing authentic. Most of their homes look boringly upper middle class, so no real house porn, and their trips aren't enjoyable because they leap from one stupid assed fight to another.

Agreed. I think they start out fairly "real" but it doesn't last long.  The change seems like a natural progression though. Stardom settles in for popular cast members, and with that comes star-like behavior, homes, clothes, attitude, etc.

Also, I recall separate interviews of Kyle and Tamra in which they talked about how they used to walk around in their normal cotton pajamas and sweat pants, etc. in the beginning but switched it up after seeing how frumpy they looked on TV.

I'm not sure how the non-realness of these shows can be maintained other than switching up the casts more often so that "newness" doesn't have time to turn in to stardom...much, anyway.

My opinion on the firing of Dorinda pre- the reunion airing:

I am wondering if she really went after Tinsley again at the reunion - either on camera or off. Given her severe reaction on the finale at the mere mention of Tinsley's name, she may have gone Berzerkshires on her in person. Especially with Andy there to witness, it may have been the final straw.

Some of this is starting to leak in the press now. I don't have a link handy, but apparently one of the producers refused to come back to the NY franchise if Dorinda returned. Given how ridiculous most of these women are most of the time, it had to have been pretty extreme behaviour. I'm DYING for someone behind the scenes (producer, camera person) to come out with a tell-all on the behind-the-scenes shenanigans. There's no way I would be able to work on one of these things - I'd have been thrown in jail for throttling all of the cast members.

We all know these shows are fake and scripted, but I'm curious as to how they shape the story-lines: do they pay some of these women bonuses to play the villain role for a season? I've watched a few franchises off and on for so long now, I'd really love to know the inner workings.

Now I want a tell-all from the production people. Do they sign NDAs? I'm curious to know who treats the crew like humans, who treats them like the hired help, and who treats them like gum on the bottom of their shoe.  They should secretly be taping the treatment of the crew by the "talent" and create a special or new series. I imagine some of the HWs would be livid at how they "are portrayed" 😉, but I would FLOVE this.

I always find it interesting how people to to assume what Richard would think or do regards to Dorinda’s behavior when so very little is known about what he was like as a person.

I agree with this. I feel a little icky speaking of the deceased, but those two could have been opposites or they could have been exactly alike. I have met wealthy and accomplished people who were very dignified, but an equal number have been repulsive. Socialites and academics are often the tackiest people. I mean...no matter what you think of him as a president, does "RIchard was friends with Bill Clinton" still seem highbrow, knowing the former's associations? And in a horrifying twist, am I just using other words to say Money Can't Buy You Class? Send help.

From the article:

It had to have been pretty egregious behaviour. I bet everyone associated with these shows has to sign iron-clad NDA's. What I wouldn't give to view some smuggled secret footage! I'm so curious to know who is decent and who is awful when the cameras aren't rolling.

Thanks for posting the link. Her daughter is cringeworthy in every sense with the OTT speaking like she's some damn theater major; it's like someone turned up the volume to 10 and then over dramatizes the most mundane things. Entitled, spoiled and insufferable clown.

Love Dorinda, she's nothing like her daughter. Down to earth, immediately puts others at ease, great listener and empathetic, warm and genuine. She's my favorite HW on this show. I'm not crazy about the boyfriend, I just don't see what she could possibly be attracted to but there must be something because she's been with him for more than 2 years now.

Her apartment is not my taste, I'd be depressed living in NYC with dark grey walls. I need light, sunshine and clean/simple aesthetics. I'd love to redecorate her flat. I'd get rid of the wall color, dark furniture, purge more than 1/2 her stuff and I'd lose the daughter. Love that she's only a block from Central Park though.

ETA: Dorinda looks like Lady Di to me, she's very attractive in an uncommon way.

So I took another poster’s advice and started reading Dorinda’s thread from the beginning. Many of us liked her a lot at first. Maybe Hannah was the lightning rod because she was swanning all over the place for the camera.
But it also made me realize how many posters we haven’t heard from in a long time.

Besides the possibility of NDAs, if you are in production, I imagine you want to continue working when you leave the show and talking about what goes on behind-the-scenes without the approval of the executive producers, etc., will probably get you blackballed. I mean, that Vanderpump Rules producer who talked about wanting to highlight Stassi and make Sheena look ridiculous probably did herself no favors within the industry.

I think he might only be saying that because her firing happened ahead of the reunion. He's basically placating the five fans she has left. Had she been dumped post-reunion, I doubt we would have had this statement. Like Gunvalson, she'd remain fired.

This is just me reading between the lines, but what I sensed from Andy's words and tone are that:

  • he sounded sincere about having an open door for Dorinda
  • he also sounded sincere in his requirement that Dorinda will have to do an about-face
  • if/when Dorinda comes back, they'll be watching; I wouldn't be surprised if they invoke some sort of policy such that if she messes up, even mid-season, she's out. I feel she was THAT bad, and Andy wasn't having it
  • no single cast member is bigger than the show; this should send a message to all Bravo cast members - including those who have inflated egos, e.g. Nene, Jax, etc.
  • These shows are all about making a buck (they aren't non-profits!), and Dorinda was popular.  She must have been REALLY, REALLY bad for them to have gotten rid of her - AND to have announced it prior to the reunion.
  • Andy didn't sound sad or regretful in the slightest. It was almost as if he's glad to be rid of her.

Dorinda is a disgusting individual.  That footage of her reaming out John was almost too much.  I don't know how she could sit there and watch herself and not be embarrassed.  And the awful way she treated Tinsley was so disturbing.

I doubt that Dorinda thought that she would ever be fired. She is so out of touch that it never occurred to her. Even Ramona has remarked that you never know from season to season if you will be back.

I wonder if those BSM renovations will be paid for.  Maybe she could rent the place out and live out the rest of her life in the fish room.

Well for years Dorinda could do no wrong according many. She was always the fan favorite. She was not condemned for her vile treatment of Sonja. People ate up her "clip clip" at the Bronx restaurant. It took quite a few seasons for people to realize what a disturbed person she is. I have not cared for her since outburst at Ramona's dinner party when she attacked Sonja and the rest of the group just sat there and let her get away with it. Over and over we saw her lose it. It took production to force the issue of having her fired.  I dont believe for one minute that she left on her own accord.

Andy's just making promises that he knows he'll never have to keep.  Dorinda would rather commit hari-kari than admit she fucked up.  I think in Dorinda's mind, she's 100% right at all times and has no problem whatsoever with alcohol.

Quoted from the above link:

"The reunion then aired some previously unseen footage from Season 11 of RHONY in which Dorinda appears to be talking to John on the phone during the ladies' trip to Miami as Sonja Morgan looks on. "I don't want you to talk to Scott. He is not your friend," Dorinda said. "So when I say to you don't do something, you better f--king well listen."

Who the hell does this bitch think she is anyway?  Tinsley should have replied that Dorinda can eat shit and die, but of course that's not Tinsley's style.
