Congratulations!

I gained 10 pounds since summer, 7 of them over the holidays.  3 of them are already gone but still have 12 to lose to get to my personal goal.

My gym has a fancy machine. You stand barefoot on electrodes and hold electrodes In your hands. Afterwards the computer analyzes the data and prints out a recommendation. Mine said lose 50 pounds. At least it didn’t say one at a time.

That looks like a resistance band. You can actually get a pretty good workout from using one of those.

I was going to say, we use those in spin class, (band, not a scarf, but it's the same concept), and it kicks my ass when riding.

@umgoblue Sorry, no prizes are awarded for guessing the poundticipant's height, but we can see if we can get you a job at a carnival with your guessing abilities.  You and @Twopper can be a pairs act doing height and weight.

Hahahaha

I am out of weight guessing practice!  My skills have dulled because of...you guessed it...The 'Rona!

Anothr good sign is that while she's pinning a lot on the surgery, she's willing to put in the work. She has insight, which a lot of the failed Pounders don't have.

It also seems to me that the producers are really emphasizing the narrative where the poundticipants talk about just how much food means to them. It feels like they've really pushed them to talk about it in a lot of detail.

Is it just me or does it seem like Dr. Now is being less tolerant & stricter with his patients this season?  I felt in past seasons he tolerated many more excuses from his poundparticpant when they failed to lose weight/follow his plan.

This season he cuts to the chase and tells them flat out their behaviour is going to kill them.

I really liked how Dr Now talked to her about good days and bad days.  I don't recall his doing that before.

Last week on the closed caps when he said "psychotherapy" it came out as "cycle therapy. "

I had a gnarly broken leg several years ago and had to do PT. Lots of resistance bands and things. It was surprising to me how all those small exercises really added up. You don't think they're doing much one at a time, but you do all those reps and it really makes a difference.

I’ve never been able to relate to eating when anxious or sad. That’s when I can’t eat a thing.

I’m the same. When my marriage broke up I lost 25 pounds almost overnight. I just could not eat.

Food can be calming. The sensation is pleasurable and there are all sorts of emotions tied up in certain foods. I find a cup of hot herbal tea calming- NO CALORIES.

I'm trying to shift from ice cream most nights to tea instead. Lemon ginger has been my go-to lately. The other night I had mint. (But tonight I will have ice cream.)

Mmmmm....wings.

Curse you, whomever mentioned wings first.  Now I want some too.  Maybe I will get takeout tomorrow... I haven't found a place for wings here in Boston yet.

OK folks, did she lose?

My guess is yes, but significantly less than the full amount.  I say she lost 20-25 pounds.

Ah, the body composition machine.  Their accuracy varies, but it basically tries to differentiate by how electrical currents move faster through non-fat than they do through fat.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that our first grandchild (due in June) is a boy.  Note to @aliya, I do not think there is a chance in hell they will name him Napoleon Tesla.

My big worry for Melissa is that COVID will strike in the middle of her weight loss journey causing her to stall or fail.

She is at 548.  So that's a loss of 44 pounds, if I remember correctly?  That's one of the most impressive first two-months losses we ever had.  She was actually doing pretty well, I guess her cheating was more than she thought.

She did work hard. But it's about what I expected because she worked hard but also had some slips--so she did well, but not quite as well as she could have. I'm glad Dr. Now is pushing therapy now because she needs it for long term success.

True.  I am 5'10" and 15 pounds gained or lost doesn't even translate to a full dress size change in me.

I'm 5'3" and just gained 17 lbs due to a medication change. It took me from pants 6 to 10 and top M to XL. I'm devastated.  Really.

Since we were deprived of the airport scene, did they also omit the shower scene, too?  I came in a little late.

No there was a shower scene at the start. Melissa is still taking care of all of her basic needs and living independently.

There are three groups of people:  those who eat as a reaction to stress, those who stop eating as a reaction to stress, and a small group of those who can manage their stress without any untoward effects on their weight.
