Episode Discussion II: The TFGH

Culture Check: How can we discuss a character's or actor's appearance without objectifying them? How can we express likes or dislikes and still respect an individual's humanity or be mindful that a character represents a person someone else might relate to or identify with?

The mere mention of a hypothetical Jason/Carly baby as me reaching for a cross. If that wouldn't be anti-christ, who would be?

I could murder Valentin myself for even suggesting such a thing and putting it out into the universe. Such evil should not be spoken out loud, ever. And I'm sorry to say this, but LW is 6 weeks shy of 51 (I looked it up). When are they going to discontinue the farce of having babies at this stage of life? And yes, I know she just had Donna 🙄 pretty recently but that was ridiculous too. Eggs don't grow on trees at this age as I know all too well.

Do Josslyn/Cam like Spencer? Josslyn is so nasty to him all the time. If these four are friends, the writers need to write them like friends.

I thought Spencer was a complete obnoxious asshole to Cam today. He definitely seemed like he was looking down his nose at him for gasp, actually daring to work at a real job. Spoiled little prick. Why would Cam want to be friends with him if that's the way he's treated? So I can't entirely blame Josslyn for what she said. But pretending like her ass isn't entitled as well is beyond rich, pardon the pun. Yeah, she works at Lila's Kids or whatever, but girl has never wanted for anything in her entire privileged life with those two parents and her mob kingpin stepdad.

Don't get me started on Millow. The less said, the better. I liked Austin today, for the first time ever. I can get on board with snark when it's deserved. He's not obnoxious like Spencer is. I laughed out loud at "At least they were safe" too.

I'm surprised that Chase has found out so soon.  I thought they would drag this out longer, though I really wish the Boring Cheatertons would have found out that he knew the truth.  Because we're going to get months of Chase faking in order to make him the bad guy .

I like the Austin and Chase vibe.

Trina and Spencer great scene together. And those tears on her. I love her so much.

Super lame party. No other kids, not even Violet.

William Lipton looks like a young Rob Lowe. Love him too.

Good show today.

Not too happy with where this Milquetoast Millow reveal is going.  I could believe that Chase would freak out on them and possibly commit a crime of passion (kill 'em both!); but cold-blooded revenge just seems completely out of character for him.  I do think that now would be a good time to start a more earnest chem test between him and Brook Lynn.  Maybe they can both find out each other's secrets and constantly having their heads together.  (Then I would be more sure about whether their great friendship chemistry could become romantic).

This is the first time that I actually believe that Spencer genuinely cares about Trina.  I mean I knew that he was attracted gto her an trying to impress her, but we got to see a different side of him and their relationship.  It's been a long time since I've been invested in a teen relationship, but I think that they could be something special.

Is it too much to hope that the show won't go the obvious route of having Chase fake being unable to walk to hang on to Willow? It would be out-of-character for him but typical soap. I'd much rather he and Austin concoct a suitable revenge.

Willow being too fragile to go in to Michael's birthday party is just ridiculous . Every person there does nothing but prop her.

Jordan, Curtis is no loss to you. He gave up on your marriage as soon as he saw the chance to get with Portia .

Is now when we find out that the mystery person on the ancestry website that Aunt Stella is connected to is Trina? If I were Trina, I'd be really pissed off.

Spencer may have told Trina that he regrets how he behaved towards his father but he's still actively breaking up Nik's marriage to the woman he loves. A hypocrite as well as a slimeball to Cameron.

Carly cackling that it's been so long since she held a baby. Donna is barely 2, go up to the nursery and take care of your own child. Neither you nor Jason should be putting another child into the world.

Joss saying "as he should be" to Wylie getting so many presents that he will be spoiled says everything there is to say about Carly's children.

I don't think she's even that.  Wasn't she born late 2019?  Regardless, the last thing that Baby Collector needs is another one.  Of course, that would entail Jason actually sleeping with her, which I don't see him doing--though I'm sure she's already brainstorming a way to convince him that the Novaks will need there to be progeny from this marriage to be convinced.

As an alternative to the mob-oriented storylines, at least Stella harks back to the more classic soap opera busybodies that stir pots.

It is unclear to me why Chase would want to hang out in the bedroom where Willow and Michael had sex. Was Austin actually sitting on the bed? That seemed a bit too much for me. I also hope he's able to help Chase back down the stairs and up to the house, because if he can't, the cat will be out of the bag for sure.

Fair enough. But that story still places those characters on an island, to a certain extent. I don’t think it achieves real parity until they get a front-burner story that crosses into the larger canvas and where some of the white characters are playing supporting roles.

Yes, that is indeed Dame Helen, from nearly 50 years ago! The other 29 of us love her, too. 😉

Ava is tangentially involved, and now so is Spencer.

Not on a soap.

Willow, that deep hole you dug yourself into is because you haven't dealt with the death of your own baby. GET PROFESSIONAL HELP.

Good for Portia for telling Stella to butt the hell out of her life. Too bad Stella never listens, but at least Portia was able to give as good as she got.

Poor Trina. Portia is entitled to her privacy the same way you are. Color me shocked Spencer had good advice. Maybe he is learning a little bit of compassion. I don't want Trina with that spoiled rich turd, though.

"Trina, honey, it's your mom." It always cracks me up when parents identify themselves on voicemail. Mine did that, lol. I know my parents' voices! It was even less necessary because they usually used a term of endearment for me, and no one else did that.

Cam to Carly in the previews: "My past mistakes aren't going to keep me from being with Joss."  Oh, for fuck's sake, is he still apologizing for daring to think a murderer murdered someone?

Honestly, Millow are the absolute worst.  I still cannot believe the show wants us to find them so hot for each other that they *left their toddler's birthday party* to screw.  So tasteless.

Speaking of gross, another "are we supposed to find that endearing?" goes to Smike telling Nina if Valentin comes to Nixon Fails he'll have to kiss his ass.  Violence--HOT!

Yes.  There is no chance of Chase accusing Michael of using either Wiley and/or 'grief counseling' as a way to pick up Willow.  In a couple of weeks, we'll know that Michael is mad at Chase by CD's range of acting (e.g., rubbing his chin).  How many more disastrous relationships of Michael do we have to witness?  Glad that Michael has taken the Corinthos name as the original Edward Quartermaine would have ripped Michael a new one by now in the relationship department.

Reading all these comments about Willow and WSLS’s boinking and Chase getting a clue, is giving me flashbacks to when Lucky saw Elizabeth and Nikolas boinking, and the look of sheer disgust on Lucky’s face. Jonathan Jackson did a great job conveying how I felt about those two. And I will give points for this: they both always looked disgusted after each boink. Though I don’t know if that was a deliberate choice.

I think the ship on making him the bad guy has sailed. I haven't watched today's episode yet, but I remembered how Chase's goal was to walk so that he could marry Willow in the Q rose garden in front of their families and friends.

I can see him dragging it all the way there and then telling Willow and Michael that he knows everything. Although it sucks that so many people know that Michael and Willow wuv and are hot of each other.

Cam, or really anyone, feeling the need to justify their actions to Carly, LOCAL MOB QUEEN, is ridiculous.

To echo y'all, Michael and Willow are disgusting.  The type of affair storyline only works if the couple has the more scorching chemistry, which our two blocks of wood definitely do not.  I don't know how the writers expect audiences to be on their side, but I suspect they do.

I duuno about Austin being mixed into this.  Is he going to be the devil on Chase's shoulder, just because Michael was skeptical about him joining the family?

on Twitter it's kind of split. you have these peoplewho are like We Need More Millow!! and my favourite. "Chase just needs to leave and let Millow be together." like are you watching the show? MILLOW could be together if they weren't pathetic lying liars. but a lot of people are like the eff?

and that's what I've said Like some affairs (even though I fundamentally am not pro affair) - are sooo good because you can see both sides of it. there is chemistry on both sides. Like no word of a lie I wanted Sami/Austin (because I didn't like Carrie). and I liked Mike/Carrie a lot (because I didn't like carrie with the new Austin).. Dru/Malcolm/Neil were spicy.

This is just... plain toast. or plain cheerios.
Willow is mentally unstable, Michael is taking advantage of that (in my opinion) and both are lying because Willow doesn't want to be the bad guy and Michael "must be innocent of everything." I don't want Chase to lose his high groud here but he 100 percent needs to burn both of them for what they are doing. IMO what Millow is doing is 1000000 times worse than Chase's "I'm having an affair with Sasha, duces" lie so Millow could have that creepy baby.

I wonder if that's the reason they recapped Willow's history. Brought into a cult by her mother, her father left but was murdered. Willow is raped by Shiloh, gets pregnant, gives up her child for adoption, said child ends up dying.

If the show wasn't as stupid as it is, Willow should be headed for a mental breakdown. I don't think they had her sobbing like that over her child so that Michael would sexually heal her.

Michael is incredibly gross. He is looking extra greasy these days too.

Chase should arrange for Willow to walk in on him with someone, à la Clint, Nora and Kim. (Bonus meta points if it's BLQ.) "I wanted you to feel as stupid as I do." Let him have some dignity.

What I find really offensive is Willow trying to erase/trash every good moment when she was with Chase. Like telling the WSLS how she wished He had been there when she learned her baby had died instead of Chase. When Chase was nothing but gentle with her, and provided comfort and love while she grieved. It’s so gross. She wasn’t in an abusive relationship with Chase where it was always bad and she couldn’t leave. Next we’ll see her telling him she wished that thing with choosing wine (or whatever that was) she did with Chase was something she and the WSLS had done from the beginning. Both of them are TRASH people.

Chase deserves so much better.

Seriously, there were no children at that lame party. Not even the children that live at the mansion with Wylie? Not his aunt Avery and Donny or cousin Rocco? Or even fake Q baby Bailey?

Just a bunch of adults gossiping about stuff.

I will admit for a minute, I thought when Carly and Valentin were talking about kids growing up fast and next you know Donna would be a teenager, I thought the show would soras her to a teenager

I felt badly for Chase. He knows but what is worst he knows that his wife is in love with his so-called best friend.

We know thanks to Glittergate that Charlotte, Rocco and Leo made decorations for Wylie's party and yet they were not there.

It's ridiculous. I understand due to restrictions that they can't have too many kids together in one place (e.g. Violet's birthday) but there was no reason the children couldn't have been all together offscreen in another room with the nannies, Olivia, Monica

I haven’t been here in ages. I had 9 months of GH recorded to catch up on but I did it. As to what’s been going on recently:

I hate, hate, hate Millow and the sex during the birthday party was gross. Writers should be fired for that. They could have had sex at any other time and been caught. I hope Chase plays mental games with Willow causing her to have a breakdown and get sent to a psych ward. Michael can keep on mopin’.

I feel bad for Aunt Stella. I think she’s the only one that realizes Curtis will regret this. I also think she’s so involved because of what she gave up to raise her nephews and now the only one left is throwing away his marriage. Fuck Portia wanting to stay friends with Jordan. For the other woman to expect that is ridiculous. I don’t like this Jordan, she’s like a Stepford Wife - too robotic. I wonder if Austin could perk her up with his sly wit, but I doubt it.

I also don’t like this BLQ with Valentin, I think the fill in actress had more chemistry.

Nixon Falls is cringe and yet it feels real old time soapy to me. It’s kind of a nice change of pace. Sleepy Falls, Population: 20. We don’t have excitement but we have secrets. I kind of like this side of Sonny, I hate mobster Sonny.

I don’t like new Spencer, he looks evil. I took a screenshot of when he and Nic were in the Metro Court some episodes back because Spencer flashed one red eye. I was like...Terminator! Maybe he’s not really Spencer but a cyborg lookalike.

That’s enough for now.

I can't hate Stella, no matter what thankless writing she gets. I once heard an interview with a woman who's a great veteran stage actor now in her sixties. She said she has her own opinions of the characters she plays (she has played a lot of villains), but when she is playing them, she makes herself believe that everything her character does is right and justified. I think Vernee Watson-Johnson is that type. She really commits to everything. So I have been glad to have Stella back.

When I see people on some other sites wanting Stella written out but having so much enthusiasm for some of the dullest characters presently on GH (dull in large part because the acting rarely rises above "reciting"), I don't get it. All I can assume is that those characters have fans because they're played by young, "pretty" people and the show's framework is set up to make fan favorites out of them.

It's probably an unpopular opinion because of who is involved in this storyline and Michael can never ever lose, but Chase is really coming off as the victim here and even with what Michael and Willow have done, he actually defended their character. Then the writers put him in the sex bedroom, where he got a real confirmation of what was going on there.

Now let's see if Austin becomes the devil on Chase's shoulder and tries to use him to take down the golden child.

Dear Jordan, Curtis bailed out on his marriage the moment Portia entered the scene. There was no chance in hell he was going to give that marriage a second chance. I guess Curtis bails when there are shinier objects near by and the whole for better or worse part of the vows is just for suckers. She didn't cheat, Curtis, she kept professional secrets from you. Grow the fuck up.

The Spencer from the scenes he shared with Trina is a Spencer I can get down with. Dropping all pretenses, not being a dickhead, showing that he can be more than the spoiled brat we know and can't stand. It was nice to see this sincere and mature side for a change. What does Spencer think will happen when his father finds out that he is behind his marriage falling apart?
