Yes, I remember seeing the odd interview of hers and thinking it would be wonderful to get the perspective of a young conservative woman on the show. How wrong I was! lol

Last night I caught up with the past two days of talk shows I have DVR'd, and didn't hear Joy mention anything about her vacation, or who she ran into this weekend...

But on "Wendy WIlliams" show Monday, Wendy said she was a guest of Don Lemon's on his houseboat in the Hamptons.  On Sunday morning, they were eating breakfast outdoors at a restaurant, and Joy and her husband Steve stopped  by to chat  with them.

According to Wendy, "Joy made it  very clear to me it's going to be very difficult to replace Meghan. Very, very...I got insider knowledge.  I know stuff."  She wouldn't go further on what she knows and what Joy told her,

Wendy is a lowlife and I have been listening to her for years on the radio.  She used to be funny and tolerable years ago.  She has gotten worst over the years so I would take anything that she says with a grain of salt.

I was wondering if they would rotate potential replacements:

https://www.tmz.com/2021/07/22/the-view-seeking-conservative-to-replace-meghan-mccain-no-rush/

Regardless, her departure leaves a huge hole as far as -- to state the obvious -- the views offered on the show. For that reason, our production sources say they're searching for someone like McCain -- a Republican or conservative -- to replace her, but no names have been officially proposed yet.

Instead, we're told the plan is to rotate guests once Meghan is out at the end of the month, and for the start of the new season in September ... and take their time finding a permanent replacement.

Our sources say it's obviously very important to find the right woman ... so producers want to test chemistry between the guests and the regular cohosts.

No, if they want the show to be a success, they should be searching for a conservative or Republican who is nothing like MeAgain!

Even though she lives on our last nerve the show gets good ratings so they probably want to keep the same dynamic

Well, I've heard for years that McCain was supposedly irreplaceable because of ratings and yet here we are; I always disagreed with that argument on its face because the ratings were already on the up before she joined this show and they remained high last Fall when Ana was there for three months, too. If anything, she lost them ratings a couple of months ago when there was a dip because of her controversy regarding Asian Americans and the COVID-19 nickname. They probably know very well they can get a conservative who does the same thing she did without all the diva antics. Like Hasselbeck back when, for example. I imagine the conservative seat is the most easily replaced since generally, as you said, the viewers always dislike that person. They don't have to work hard to find someone super-likable or popular  like they have to for the other seats. All they really need is someone who knows how TV works and can function without derailing the moderator from taking commercial breaks.

Anyway, I wondered why one of the guests didn't show up this week and then saw this:

I hope they are back in the studio!

It was all question/answer format, Sara's scripted responses, and the predictability being remote.

Maybe it can finally be a conversation at the table!!  There should be plenty of room!

I'm really looking forward to it too.  I'm glad that instead of shoving a new person all day every day down our throats.  The one day a week is perfect.  And if it's on Fridays, even better

That video made me smile. They genuinely looked happy to see each other.

I’m a little over the reruns. They have 25 years worth of interviews. I wish they would have just shown edited interviews from past shows similar to what Kelly and Ryan do when they’re on hiatus.

Like someone in another thread said, I’d be surprised if Rosie O’Donnell chooses to appear--or Rosie Perez for that matter—which is a shame since they’re two I would like to see again. I’d love to see Meredith, Star, and Lisa for sure. I wouldn’t even mind seeing see Paula and Michelle again, although a lot of these later co-hosts, I’m not sure if they would be invited back or not considering so many of them had drama with Whoopi. I expect Nicolle Wallace would be welcomed back though since she’s Whoopi’s friend (gag). And you know Raven will show up—UGH. I have zero interest in ever seeing Jedidiah again either. Ditto with Candace, but at least she would be bearable.

If they only brought back the women from the first season (+ Lisa) several times over, I’d be completely fine with that. The show was at its peak then anyway.

I imagine Meredith and Rosie Perez are also pretty busy, but it's only one day. It doesn't sound like they'll have the same person every Friday, so it's not like anyone would have to commit to more than one appearance every other month and some may appear one time only. It's not like this show takes a lot of prep time either....

I could see Rosie Perez coming back before Rosie O and we all know why.

The ladies look really nice  and happy in those pictures above.  I even love what Whoopie is wearing..

I hope the ladies go back to what Barbara Walters envisioned, women talking to each other about a range of topics over a cup of coffee.

Sherry deserved it because she was always playing that annoying routine of the desperate big girl who is looking for a man.  Sherry did and said so many embarrassing things over the years..

Some interesting comments from Joy in this article.

https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/the-view-joy-behar-says-its-much-more-fun-to-have-fewer-people-following-meghan-mccains-exit.html/

Quote

Behar also mentioned that she didn’t love doing the show from home because she felt like she was giving a speech every time she had to give her point of view. Due to the co-hosts not being in the same room, they each took turns giving their view, which was a dynamic Behar was not fond of.

Quote

“We don’t like to be personal with each other and so, whoever comes in will have to know that, otherwise it won’t work,” Behar suggested.

Executive producer Brian Teta added that they are “not looking for fights” and was looking for someone that would have chemistry with the rest of the panel.

“We want people to have a lively, spirited debate,” he added.

Behar chimed in once again and said, “We like to debate, but we don’t like to have fights with each other.”

I can't remember if it had been reported back when the season premiered that Cindy McCain would show up as guest co-host or not. I don't mind her being there--she'd be better than Fiorina if they were going to cast somebody older--but at the same time I'd prefer the show cut off connection with that family altogether, tbh.

Also, there's this other bit of news that made me cringe a little, but I guess it's not the worst thing in the world either. Whoopi signed a new 4-year contract:

I remember the Rose and Elisabeth fight. I miss Rosie, Elisabeth not so much.

The Joy and Whoopi walk-off was one of the most memorable moments ever.

Did Jenny and Sherri really go topless?!

"Girl, please stop talking" is iconic.

I read the People article. The writer seems to contradict themselves to me? He says late in the article that they were called off stage once before being told to come back to the table before being asked to leave on-air a second time, but it doesn't match what he first describes of the details. He said they walked off stage (nothing about he heard them being called off stage) before suddenly they reappeared as if they were being ushered back to the table, looking confused. Then what we saw on-air happened.

Sounds more like there was probably one person unwisely trying to inform them there was a problem with their tests, but then someone with better sense intervened to tell them to go back to the table and that they would be informed what was happening from the EP who was at the teleprompter rather than risk unintentionally infecting anybody BTS not knowing. This show has always in disarray, so I wouldn't be surprised.

Some of this overlaps with one of my weekly thread posts, but based on the People reporter's article (and the well-known disarray that is The View that you mention), I think someone told Sunny and Ana to leave the table, before the break was over, but not why, (and this is my surmise), and since VP Harris's segment was next, she was probably back stage.

My guess is when they tried to leave the set during the break, the Secret Service wouldn't let them, until they got the VP out of there and away from Ana and Sunny.

https://people.com/tv/the-view-covid-chaos-audience-member-experience/

Quote

I could sense some mild commotion on set shortly before The View was to return from break, with Navarro and Hostin, 52, both walking off set as cameras were about to roll. Behar and Haines didn't seem alarmed, so I thought nothing was wrong. But as they were attempting to exit the stage, Hostin and Navarro were suddenly escorted back to the table. Both women looked confused as they returned to their seats. Behar repeatedly asked the producers what was going on.

And then they were live.

"There seems to be something happening here that I'm not 100 percent aware of," Behar said as the show resumed. "Can someone please apprise me of the situation?"

Hostin and Navarro were then asked — again! — to leave the set, with a producer explaining their sudden absence as a "tease" for what was to come. Another commercial break was suddenly announced on-air by Behar. We were left watching Behar and Haines alone at the table, both clearly flummoxed by what had just happened.

After being briefed by a producer, Behar then addressed the audience, telling us that positive COVID-19 test results had come in for Hostin and Navarro while the show was taping. Cue the gasps from the crowd — mine included!

From what I can put together between the above and Ana's disjointed interview with Anderson Cooper, I think Ana and Sunny were told someone needed to talk to them (backstage), then Secret Service wouldn't let them leave and escorted them back to the table, so they were they learned while on the air, through their ear pieces that they tested positive. Then they got the all clear to leave the set.

Sunny and Ana certainly look like they're just hearing the news on the air. Look at their poor faces.
