my facialist at the spa I go to told me at my last visit that a nurse she works with had her baby and that the day of birth visitors came and someone kissed the baby who had herpes. The baby now has herpes and is in intensive care.

Funny story, I've seen women in that much pain during delivery, vomiting and all, and one of them had an epidural, but it wasn't correctly inserted, so the nurses kept saying the mom was exaggerating her pain, and only looked at the spinal at all after over an hour of quite loud complaint.  Woops! 

And then the girl's mother had the nerve to APOLOGIZE for her daughter being so much trouble.

I think it is so disingenuous for a married couple to brag about 'dating'.  That's what you do BEFORE you're married, idiots!  If you get married before you date, that's your mistake and no amount of post-marriage dating is going to compensate.

Joe doesn’t seem nearly as happy as he did during courtship, engagement and the wedding.   Could it be that the full responsibilities of being a husband and father so soon be taking a toll on him?   Not referring to the sadness of Grandma’s passing, just that there seems to be a Marked difference in him this season.  
 

It was even more apparent during Kendra’s labor, he looked as though he wanted to be anywhere else.   His comment about it being a long night was interesting as this labor was much faster for them.  The baby  came after only 4.5 hours in hospital and he’s young!

To me he just looks tired. I hope he hasn't realized this his the best is life is ever going to be and it kind of sucks because he's got another 50-70 years of it.

They do have a new baby in the house. Maybe he is actually a decent enough man to help out Kendra and that is why he is tired.

I wouldn’t be as happy with a toddler and spouse in labor as I was during courtship and wedding- Joe actually has responsibilities now! He’s got a lot more work to do. Children and spouses are a lot of emotional labor. I’m not suggesting Joe would ever mistreat Kendra or the children (I think he’s one of the most decent older boys, and I think he does love Kendra), but small children are WORK even if you wanted them. Of course he’s tired. And he had no years of doing “his own thing” as an independent adult (or even with Kendra) before Garrett came along. 
 

One of the downsides of this lifestyle is that you get no time to just focus on yourself until the end of your life. In childhood you’re in service and under control to your parents, you’re married and procreating as soon as you’re a legal adult and then you are raising children/grandchildren until the very end of your life- sounds exhausting without a moment of peace.

my parents had date nights after I was born.. and it's actually something healthy couples should do... have a little time away from the kids to stay connected.  If these two are doing date night, that's probably the most rational and healthy thing a Duggar has done...imho

My husband and I hired a babysitter once a month and went out to dinner w/o the kids. We didn't call it date night, we just called it going out.

I don't think anyone objects to anyone spending time as just a couple with their spouse.  Most of us don't call it dating, though.  In the case of the Duggars, they brag about not dating prior to marriage and then, after they've married someone they've spent almost no time alone with; they brag about 'dating' their husband or wife.  They've got it bass ackwards, IMO.  Maybe if they dated before marriage, they'd be better acquainted by the time they said, 'I do' and wouldn't find it so necessary to 'date' their spouse.

Yeah...I don't actually have a problem with a married couple referring to a night out as "date night". My daughter and her husband dated for years, lived together for a few, and certainly knew each other well before marriage, Then they waited six years before tackling parenthood. And they refer to those infrequent times they go out alone as "date night". I just see the term as people looking back to the times that they were younger, probably had less stresses, and a new (or at least new-ish) romance to give an extra spark to their lives.

This does not, however, apply to those who never dated. They may well be looking back (probably with a sense of nostalgia) to those months between marriage and parenthood, as they were getting to know each other as a couple, but don't call it by something you never did, and don't actually approve of among the rest of the population!

Joe doesn’t look that bad! Lol. He’s still got a baby face he just looks tired. I think their outfit theme goes well with the background, and then Garret’s cream sweater makes the outfit look toddler appropriate.

Joe looks disheveled. Kendra usually does a good job of making sure that her family is put together well, and I think it's just an awkward picture. Whatever is going on with Joe's pants doesn't need to be shared.

Joe's hold on his daughter is awkward, and Kendra's hold on her son is awkward, too.

While this is slightly better than the super-awkward head-to-toe photos that the Duggars normally take, we're once again subjected to too much torso.

It's simply a poorly composed photo and, since they're free, I don't understand why they didn't take another. It's not the worst photo I ever saw, but we no longer take photos with film and have to wait until they're developed before we discover that they suck. There was absolutely no reason not to take another photo that was more flattering.

IMO it doesn't fit, is wrinkled, looks poorly made (the front middle panel appears to be a different shade of black) and is frumpy.

I'm guessing being tired and overwhelmed with two babies and a postpartum body limits her choices, but Kendra usually dresses more sharply than that.

I have two now grown daughters and held them and plenty of other babies the way Kendra and Joe are holding their little ones in the photo.  I had no idea it was awkward.
