I guess he has a lot to repent for. I just remembered that in addition to getting fired for being drunk on the job, he cheated on the harridan when she was pregnant with either her first or second kid. He's a real peach.

I'm not gonna lie--that Happy New Year post on January 11 had me laughing pretty hard. If she's not going to go through with her one-month sabbatical, okay, whatever, but talking about going off social media for a month and then breaking that to post about a holiday that came and went over a week ago is some real chaotic energy.

I kinda see this post as confirmation that she is taking a break from social media. 

That's a Happy New Year's day post, and yesterday was January 11, 2022. My guess is that she created in back in December, scheduling it to go up automatically on January 1, 2022, and instead added an extra 1 by mistake, making it autopost on January 11, 2022, and didn't notice because, as she said, she's taking a social media break.

That was my first thought.  If Joy really wanted the kid to enjoy the snow, then dress her for it,  I wouldn't want to spend more than a minute outside with no hat or gloves and my coat unzipped in those conditions.

I think that she's pretty lonely -- actually, I think they all are. Joy has exactly one friend -- and she lives a couple hundred miles away. Austin is gone all day and she's at home with a couple of small children.

I think that SM allows her to feel some level of connection to the outside world. I don't think it registers with her at all that she's exploiting the kids for clicks

In a normal family she would be close to her brothers that are near her in age. But she was not allowed to hang out with them and was forced to go shopping and wear makeup. Of course in most families today, Joy and the Howlers probably would not have been born.

I don’t think she even views her IG as a money maker. I know she’s done some of those promos, but I think that in her mind, there are those sweet granny’s who watched them on TLC and want to see pictures of her kids as they grow. If she’s trying to be an influencer, she’s doing a bad job of it. She hasn’t even come up with cute #sayingsofgiddy.

True. In earlier episodes and specials she seemed close to Josiah, but the sainted parental units probably put a stop to that when they reached a certain age. Actually, I think I remember reading they did just that.

Joy has an IG story shilling the same speaker she has advertised before. OMG, Gideon is a full on ball of massive energy. My first born was like that and I was young and could keep up with him. The kid actually made me laugh. At the end even Evie got in on the action. It would be nice if Joy and Austin concentrate on the two kids they have. Gideon is a high maintenance child, and cute.

Joy is clearly not just on SM because she’s “lonely” and wants to interact. She continues to shill these useless items and tries to get people who likely can’t afford them to spend their hard earned money. She is no innocent.

I think Joy likes Kendra but maybe not Lauren as much, so that limits how much they hang out.

I think we did see Joy and Austin on a hunting trip or 2 with her brothers but now that they have 2 young kids it’s probably harder to justify these kind of trips. Plus Austin seems to be frequently off sky diving etc with the Meddicorp crew, which Joy doesn’t seem interested in.

I think Joy is closer with her brothers and sisters-in-law than with her sisters.

She seems to hang out with Abbie pretty frequently, which makes sense because Austin and JD are close. Joystin also do activities (e.g. softball) with Jed! and Katey.

Joy, Abbie, and Katey were all at a Galentines Day Party a few days ago along with Esther Bates and some other random fundies.

I don't like she made video of this but I do like she did have him evaluated and encouraged parents to do the same if they are concerned about their kids. The good thing is that Gideon was overall doing well, needed some attention in a couple of areas. Of course if the kids were going to pre-school, public schools they would be getting these evaluations. It was kind like when Jessa took Henry to have his speech evaluated, not sure she followed through with anything.  But yeah, she could have gotten that message across without filming the process.  Of course, she grew up with a camera recording her life so she has somehow normalized that. There is nothing normal about growing up in a cult in front of cameras.

I love that Joy took it upon herself to get Gideon screened, however, I hate that she was filming the testing. Test contents should not be displayed like that for the public as it threatens test integrity. There is a website called Testing Mom that will publish similar items that are seen on psychological tests, for moms to use to coach their kids so that they can score really high on IQ tests and get into a gifted program. It's incredibly unethical. I realize that Joy filmed the administration of language test items, not psychological tests, but it still applies. However, the onus is also really on the evaluators because I wouldn't expect Joy to know test copyright laws as a layperson. 

I feel like the title is misleading though...I don't think it was recommended for Gideon to participate in therapy? I thought the specialist told Joy to do some exercises at home to work on his communication and fine motor skills.
