Jim Bob, 56, and Michelle, 55, appeared in a Christmas parade with their kids and grandkids over the weekend.

The reality stars smiled cheerfully on a float while holding their granddaughter Gracie as they were carted between trees covered in string lights and festive decorations.

The pair seemed entirely unbothered by their son Josh's November 30 child pornography trial.

The snap was reshared by a fan on Reddit, who noted that the couple were participating in the "Springdale Christmas parade" with their son Jed and his wife Katey.

Fans were stunned by the family's optimism despite the grim accusations against their eldest son.

"Imagine having so much misplaced confidence that you put yourself, your family, and your . . .less than 48 hours before your son’s trial for CSAM begins," one ranted.

It happened while he was testifying before the trial actually got underway.  Apparently he didn't appreciate the line of questioning from the prosecution and decided he could say he objected.  The judge put him firmly in his place " "If there is [an] objection to be made, someone will make it but it won't be you," the judge told him."

It's not that the judge sits around for four months thinking gee what sentence will I give the guy? He'll get those documents several days before the hearing, and review them, and I suppose there will be a sentencing hearing at which the lawyers and perhaps others may speak, and the judge will wind it up by stating what the sentence will be.

Ah, okay, I thought it was something like he called the prosecutor and pretended to be the judge to give instructions or something, which would be egregious even for him, but yeah, this sort of thing seems in line with this smug fuck's M.O.

Wow, it has taken me many days to get caught up in here, but I finally did.  If anyone is looking for stories of people who had "BTDT" regarding prison, check out Jessica Kent of YouTube.  She actually lived in Fayetteville, Arkansas and would frequent some stores/restaurants the family did.  She did time in a state facility for drugs and a gun possession charge, so not the same as Josh, but her latest video can give you a rough idea of what he will be dealing with.  

The second one is Ro & Adam Clausen's YouTube channel.  Adam served many years in two federal prisons in PA.  His charges are not the same as Josh's either, but they have videos where he would call her and she would post the conversation on her channel.  He has since been released from the BOP, and they now live in Las Vegas.  Watch the videos done prior to August 2020, as the newer ones have been related to her pregnancy and the birth of their son.  

tl:dr--Joshy is not going to have an easy life over the next few years, and he deserves everything he has coming to him.  He got himself into this mess, and he finally realized that Daddy can't get him out.  He tried on his own...and failed.

The parade, you mean? ....Yep, Jim Bob and Michelle rode on a float in a local Christmas parade over Thanksgiving weekend., which was the weekend before the trial began. Some of the younger generations were with them. They had a little granddaughter with them, maybe John David and Abbie's little girl, Gracie, but I'm not sure. In the picture she wasn't smiling, and I recognize Gracie by her smile (and none of the other granddaughters in her age group at all!). .... Jed! and Katey were on the float, too. Don't know if there was anyone else. JB and M were smiling as if they didn't have a care in the world, but I'd guess a lot of the people on the sidewalk knew that they did.....and were surprised.

Yes, I don't want it to be dark, but part of me feels the current title minimizes the facts of what happened. I'd be down with something funny or fun, with no mention of his crimes.

That subreddit is my latest addiction. Even though it’s normal to only snark there, during the trial and aftermath everyone was free to express support for all victims and a lot of great stuff good convos ensued.

Me pondering on this name thread and proposed changes:

The problem with this name and new suggestions is this: There won’t be a “Josh and Anna” for the foreseeable future… From now on, their married life only exists on paper. Moreover, it’s unlikely we’ll hear anything about Josh for the upcoming years after he’s been sentenced.

So my point is this: If we are to change the name, we should focus on Anna. Maybe we can draw some inspiration from the Sister Wives page? Christine Brown is now single and her thread got renamed to “Christine Brown, from Basement wife to the single life”.  I hereby propose “Anna, from Duggar Wife to a single life”

Will she have reduced status, though?  It sometimes seems to me that going through shit at the hands of your husband is probably one of the top ways to gain status in their world (after having loads of kids, of course).  She may get even more credit from other fundies for standing by her man when he’s in prison for awful crimes than she got for standing by him so far.

Unfortunately, for Anna, Gothard teaches that, if a husband strays, it is the wife's fault.  So, since Josh ended up in prison, she is going to be looked at as a complete failure as a wife and helpmeet.  The Gothard set do not seem to differentiate between CSAM and adult porn, either.  Gothard was very big on stressing that any problems in a marriage are the fault of the wife, not the husband.

I've never seen this anywhere else before, but Justin (the guy who knew Josh as a teenager and had the podcast of his old journal earlier this year) posted a new entry on Reddit today. It is from February 2006 and talks about Josh getting in trouble for racking up 20 hours worth of phone sex calls in the previous month. He would have been 17, on the verge of turning 18.
