I don't understand how that dress looks like it's almost choking Josie, but at the same time the flower is so far down.

It's been altered by, I suppose, Jana.  Notice how high the neckline is on Josie but not on the dress in the ad.  It puckers in the front down towards the underarm.  If it was originally Jordyn's, it would be huge on Josie and the neckline would hang too low for "modesty".   Poor Josie.  She's a head shorter than everyone and she's in a badly altered, hand-me-down dress.

Yeah, personally I don't know anyone who did monthly photos until it became a "thing" on Instagram.

When my oldest nephew was born, my mom decided to sit him in a recliner chair to take his picture every month to show his size. This lasted like 7 months tops. And I honestly don't even know if she still has the pictures and he's 23 now.

As much as it utterly grinds me to defend Mechelle EVER, I wonder how much of this photo taking thing is first, generational, and second, driven by publicity seeking.

When we were kids it was pretty much annual school photos and group photos at holidays, period. Taking a photo meant getting out a camera, putting film in it, and flash cubes, which might or might not work. Then you had to fill the roll of film, remove it, drop it off to be developed and then pick up the pictures a week later. No Facebook, no Instagram.

So the Duggars wouldn’t have been that atypical in not commemorating all these milestones, especially with the older kids.

This concludes my annual compulsory attempt to treat the Duggars like they’re not insane.

Must go shower.

Yes. My mother loves me dearly and I am her favorite person but I’m a millennial- we got photos for Christmas, Easter, Halloween, school picture day. The only photos she has when she was pregnant with me are group shots. It’s not a testament to how much she loves me but a generational thing.

Also first babies get more of this stuff- that’s just the way it works. 2nd or 3rd babies of my friends still get the monthly photos but fewer belly shots because the Moms are busy!

Yes I hate that I had to defend Michelle.

They probably got those rings way before they were fully grown and had to ditch them at some point before they turned into ring tourniquets....(thus missing the chance to have some Very Special Episodes in the ER)... Definitely, in Jana's case. lol ... Or maybe el Cheapskate JB gave them rings somebody twisted out of gum wrappers ...

LOL, or the gumball machine.  ER episodes, hahaha!

I have boxes of pictures (snap shots)  and several photo albums dating from the 1920's from both of my parent's families.  They seemed to have been very prolific with the camera.  My parents are in their 90's and I feel so fortunate to have SO MANY pictures from their childhoods.   The front steps of my mother's house was the most popular background in her family.  I have another whole huge box of pictures of me from the time I was born (early 50's).  I understand that most families did not take this many pictures, but my family sure did.  Until my brother was born.  There are not many pictures of him at all.  I guess it pays to be the first-born.

How lovely. I love old family photos. Most likely your elders had a love of photography.

That's so cool! I love old family photos! There are not a lot of pictures of my parents going back to when they were young because both were born in Poland in the 1930's and led nomadic lives during WWII of the sort which could maybe make great movies but did not lend themselves to photography in the moment. I don't think there are more than two or three photos of either of them up until they reached adulthood (by which time they were both living in England, as yet unacquainted), and probably not more than another six or seven more up until they were married. For that matter, I'm not sure there are much more than a couple of dozen (at best) photos of me out there before the age of 10 or so. I'd love to have the sort of treasure trove of photos you do!

Besides my school picture, I had exactly one picture taken of me when I was growing up. My parents never bought my school pic either.  I take lots of pictures of my son and my twin daughters. My husbands family is big on picture taking too.

I think it's sweet that they take so many pictures of Felicity.

My family is like that too!!! I have so many fun pictures of my grandparents trying to look glamorous as young people, and they're so awesome! I feel like being raised with this kind of picture-taking is kind of its  own culture! Somehow, every boyfriend I've had has been the "no pictures...you live for social media but I hate it" kind of guy, haha! I try to explain that it's not social media, but it's how my family has always been! I show them the photo albums that take up a whole wall, and say that my love of taking pictures did not begin with Facebook! Not saying I require a camera whore, but I'm hoping my next boyfriend will be normal about having photos made, and even posting them online! Like today...we of course took Thanksgiving photos. We would have also done it if social media didn't exist! I hardly think that kind of thing is crazy excessive...I'm not the type to post cringey selfies with dramatic captions about my love weekly, but it would be nice to not have to appear like I take tons of trips and go on lots of outings alone while really in a relationship! Some people don't come from photo families, I guess. It really is like a different cultural norm that a lot of people have never experienced, and/or think it's a product of the digital age!

I wonder if Jeremy compares the likes on their IGs? Jinger has nearly four times as many likes and four times as many comments.

I'm sure he does. He's extremely conscious of his image and, I'd bet, of the possible effect of that image on the big future he plans for himself. And he married her partly to leverage her fame and influence to get his own fame and influence.

With that mindset, it'd be impossible to ignore those numbers, I'd think.

I wonder if Jinger got a discount on multiple dresses with a zipper in the front. She's worn that blue dress, this red dress, and the black one from jabbie's wedding. She reminds me a lot of myself when I was learning how to dress myself, and would frequently buy multiple colors in a very specific style (which is different from buying something like leggings or camisoles in different colors IMO, since those styles don't stand out). I think Jinger is figuring out what she likes to wear, and I say, better late than never!

The zipper in the front allows for easy nursing access. I’m impressed she has a nursing mama wardrobe.

I was about to say the same thing. I have almost zero nursing clothes and just bunched my sweater dress up to my armpits yesterday haha.

Also that is very fashion forward of her to wear a romper! I am not sure I love that *specific* romper and would love to see the full look on Jinger. I love rompers in general. Very trendy of her.

I was thinking the same. The jumpsuit isn't to my taste, but I'm impressed she's so on trend. It must be a thrill for her to have clothes that fit and flatter her figure after spending years in stretched-out frumpwear.

Jinger has tagged the company Called to Surf in a few photos where she's wearing the zipper and button down dresses. It's a company that sells stylish, modest clothing and they are apparently very popular in the Mormon community.

The company probably sent her dresses in return for a mention.

Jumpsuits say 1980's to me, probably because I wore one, then.

I don't particularly like the one Jin is wearing, but I don't hate it, either.  @GeeGolly, I agree about the bathroom problem.  I suppose with my then 30 year old bladder, it wasn't an issue.  My 60-something body needs pants that I can pull down quickly.  Or a skirt I can hike up easily :)

Im getting flashbacks to all the times I was drunk and wearing a romper and would almost pee myself trying to get out of it in time LOL. On vacation I was wearing a strapless one that had the eye hook thing and I think I actually just ripped the whole hook off ( I was solo in the bathroom at the time so nobody to ask for help), not my finest moment. :-P

Chic black jumpsuits are good for work-related social events where there's a great, tempting open bar that requires you to have a strong impetus NOT to drink so you'll refrain from blabbering the WRONG thing to bigwigs and corporate competitors.

Don't ask me how I know.

(This would not be the case for a Duggar, obviously.)

I hear you. I had a jumpsuit in the 80's that had a belt that had to be undone as well as a button down front. No way could I wear anything like that today.

I'm glad it's a jumpsuit.  Even though I find it strange looking, (more like a costume), if it was a dress it would have been more in line with a 1950's housedress.  Much too old for a 20 something!  At least the jumpsuit is youthful.

Yes, I can agree. I have this navy jumpsuit (strapless, too!) that I wear dancing and I can't drink while wearing it because I have to tape myself into it among all the other jumpsuit things.

I love Jinger's jumpsuit! I'm awfully fond of them, they're like dresses that way (I would also like to disagree with the post above me saying if it were a dress it would be too old for a 20 something! As a 20-something, I would die for that colour/print in a full-skirted dress, but then again, I guess I dress old too!)

I had one that buttoned down the BACK and had a belt. Not happening anymore.

OT: I also wish we had gotten to see her in the full outfit.

I don't love Jinger's romper, but that may well be because I've never much cared for plaid. As far as accessibility, my almost-60-year-old bladder still seems to be in marginally better shape than my midsection, as I've worn shapewear more challenging to get in and out of than a romper.

I do recall an outfit I adored, though I think I only wore it about twice before various life changes meant it never quite fit right again. I was about 22 and at a more or less perfect weight for pretty much the only time in my life. It was a sort of formal style grey romper of a slinky material in the pants, and a sort of reinforced version of the same fabric in the top, which was sleeveless, and consisted of three sort of dart-shaped pieces (black, grey, and white) which came up at an angle from my waist to form a bodice. I did kinda love 80's style...even my hair, which is curly, naturally fell into the perfect style if I just spritzed a little hairspray into it while bending downward.

Why isn't Derelict speaking? He is THE greatest missionator of all time. He sacrificed his family's safety by going to Danger America for the Lord.  I guess it coincides with law school.

Who is David Platt?  He's mentioned a few time in the replies.

Do the speakers get paid?  If so, how much?  I would hope if they do get paid they would give it back to a mission fund.

I guarantee the women will only be speaking to the wifeys who'll accompany the men to the event. (and hang out in separate rooms, for the most part). They'll probably have to let the African-American men talk to white men, though, since white men will make up about 99.9 percent of full-fledged attendees, I expect.

Don't know who the black guy in the bottom row is but the black guy at the top is is one of the biggest names in the whole event -- Voddie Baucham, who was one of Doug Phillips' minions when Vision Forum still existed and has been a quite prominent speaker and writer on his own then and now. One big part of his roadshow is the devilish nature of all children and how if you order a kid not to be shy around a grownup and it persists in being shy, you're as satanic as the kid if you don't beat it until it does what you say. I kid you not. ..... VB has a PhD and should put it to better uses, in my opinion.

The two women are even sadder sacks than we might have imagined, I think.

One of them, Cindy Currin, is probably there because her husband is also on the program. Here's her shtick:

"After a season of seeking assurance of salvation, Cindy was born again while attending Bible school in the fall of 1975.  Immediately, her life began to change as she experienced a desire to bring people to Christ. As a Christian she possessed the conviction that her highest calling was to be a godly wife and mother. She served her family with unwavering devotion by accompanying Don in his itinerate ministry as she educated her children on the road.

Speaking Engagements to Ladies: Cindy has spoken to women in conferences and churches in Canada, England, Norway, Egypt, Romania,
and across the United States on such topics as: The Attributes of God, Biblical Womanhood, The Role of Women in the Church, Overcoming Fear and Worry, The Joy of Biblical Submission, Loving Your Husband, Loving Your Children, The Portrait of a Godly Woman, Becoming a Woman of Spiritual Passion, The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment, The Titus 2 Woman, The Proverbs 31 Woman, Overcoming Bitterness, The Beauty of Forgiveness,, Devotional Life"

Read through those speech topics and see what kind of sick novel starts constructing itself in your head. Yeesh.

The most recent claim to fame of the other woman, Martha Peace, seems to be a book -- with a male coauthor -- on modesty for teenage girls. Once again, I kid you not. Here's her shtick:

Book's called "Modesty." Here's the publisher blurb:

"Do you consider your choice of clothing a gray area? Do you think modest equals frumpy? Do you dress to get attention? If your answer to any of these questions is yes, Martha and Kent challenge you to diagnose your heart attitude about modesty—and about God and others. In the Bible, we see that immodesty is forbidden for reasons that go beyond our outward appearance. Martha and Kent write to teen girls in alternating sections that discuss immodesty’s causes and consequences; explain and examine legalism in tackling immodesty; and take a look at ways to be modest, giving readers a biblical framework for growing in modesty. Includes discussion questions."

And here's a review:

"If you want a God-centered, gospel-saturated, and practical guide to the uncomfortable topic of modesty, look no further! Martha Peace and Kent Keller have given you a gift and will clear up what the Bible really says about the heart of modesty.
Martha Peace and Kent Keller have provided an invaluable resource for teenaged girls on the oft overlooked topic of modesty. This well organized book asks all of the right questions and systematically answers them by the use of Biblical truth. If young women are not taught the truth about the Gospel reasons for modesty, they often form opinions and habits that are difficult to change. The study of this short book will provide a framework for thinking through this issue that does not involve legalistic checklists but does involve taking seriously what a huge responsibility young women have as they make clothing choices. Martha Peace has included many practical examples from her point of view. The addition of Kent’s perspective as a father is so helpful. It is refreshing to see this topic elevated to the importance that it deserves! May the Lord use it to convince, convict and encourage."

I just knew you would be familiar with all these Godly people @Churchhoney. lol.

My head is about to explode just reading this. I can’t believe the way these people live. Every day they live in fear of doing something sinful. Don’t any of them have a moral compass, or a smidgen of common sense that tells them the difference between right and wrong without interjecting God into every. little.thing.?

And lo and behold, there’s Jeremy smack in the middle. So,we know he’s part of the fold no matter how smooth he is on the outside.

You couldn’t pay me to attend this drivel.
