I absolutely can't wait for the "Who is against the Queen will DIE!" tantrum this week that we keep seeing in the commercials.

I'm starting to think that she's referring to Queen Debbie perhaps...?

Debbie was smirking her ass off in last night's "First Look" and she appeared to take great pleasure in nixing Larissa's wedding gown choices. But I also thought Larissa was being totally unreasonable wanting a dress that was 2 1/2 times over the budget Colt (Debbie, actually) gave her and wheedling and cajoling about it like a preteen. Like on SYYTD, the saleswoman should have asked her the "price point she was comfortable at" at the very beginning and steered her towards the within budget gowns, and not just let her run loose in the racks. I felt a thousand dollar budget was pretty generous for a dress Larissa would be wearing for a wedding with ten guests. (I forget, how much was Karine's gown?) But I've learned that the wedding gown shopping drama is an obligatory scene for each bride, and totally producer driven. Some bridal salon somewhere gets their 15 minutes of fame and free advertising.

I absolutely can't wait for the "Who is against the Queen will DIE!" tantrum this week that we keep seeing in the commercials.

I can see why Debbie smirks and I’m glad she told Larissa she might have to choose between the dress and the green card. It’s pretty clear that green card is important to Larissa. Larissa’s smug answer that she’ll talk to ColtE and get the expensive dress made me laugh cause she hasn’t convinced  him to spend any money he doesn’t want to.

I think Debbie smirks because she knows Colt is cheap, not due to her influence, it’s just his nature. Whether Debbie is there or not,  Colt isn’t going to suddenly give Larissa free rein to spend money, in fact, without Debbies financial contribution  to the household, he has to pick up that tab so there’s even less to hand over to Larissa.

They didn't have a couchie because Coltie wanted Larissa to pickie one out with him, or Debbie or all of them but when she went shopping with Debbie and chose a hideous couchie and said she wanted it, Debbie would not buy it because Coltie was not there to approve. In the car later, when Larissa mentioned that had wanted the couchie but Debbie wouldn't get it, Coltie said something like, "Well, buying a couch is a big decision," or some such crapie.

Sorree, thisee madee mee crackie uppie!   (Are you one of the show's writers?)

I thought it was cruel, the same as with the couch and the "we will decide'' about the moving.

When she smirked last night I felt like twisting her nose and breaking it.  No moree smirkee bitchee.

Let Larissa have something or just at the very least make the experience fun and pleasant.

Debbie HAD a responsibility to raise an adult and she didn't.   But now Colt is an adult and its on him.

I have no problem with Debbie, she sees Larissa for what she is woman who is selling her self for a  green card. It is obvious that the green card is all Larissa cares about and Debbie called it right.  As for Colt he made the implicit agreement "marry me and you get a green card", I am pretty sure he did not ever include having full access to his credit cards in the deal he struck, which is sex for green card.

Wow, the cousins are shit people, too.  The girl cousin was trying to keep things sensible and respectful, but then Cousin Moobs McFriendly's had to run his mouth- all with Coltee just sitting there with his soft, lady-like legs.  I couldn't believe he let his cousin call Larissa a bitch in front of him.  What a wuss.

I get what the cousins are saying; I do.  But I also sympathize with Larissa- living with a controlling and manipulative mommy-in-law is NOT ideal.  I was glad she gave as good as she got.

She knew what she was getting into. If you don't want to marry a mama's boy, don't date one. They don't change.

Indeed.  He's said repeatedly that he informed her of many things before she came to the US, including his living situation.  She came anyway.  I don't see him as some master manipulator, dangling carrots for her and yanking them away.  He's not smart enough for that.  He's a man-boy mama's baby, and can't make a decision to save his life.  But I 100% believe he gave her a budget, and she simply doesn't care.  She won't listen to reason.  And their drama that revolves around shopping of any kind (couch, dress, etc) is 100% producer driven.

The male cousin was for sure.  I understand his point of view and why he feels protective of Debbie, but he needs to keep his thoughts to himself.  Simply bow out of their wedding - make up an excuse - and stay away where Larissa is involved.  Invite Colt out alone for a guy's day, and keep your mouth shut if he gripes about her.  Been there, done that.  It's not worth the drama, unless that was producer driven as well (which it likely was).

I didn't like that Colt allowed his cousin to call his fiance a bitch.  He never told his cousin anything and when the cousin leaves, he begins to try to chastise Larissa for her behavior only.  Why does she have to prove anything to his cousin?  I think Colt's cousin believes no one would want Colt and therefore Larissa must be using him.

Perhaps Cousin Coltie thought his appearance on 90DF would boost his HVAC business but in fact, the opposite appears to be true. There are numerous negative Yelp reviews based on the way he acted on the show. I realize that it has nothing to do with his actual job performance, but his plan might have backfired.

Colt and Debbie are a mess because both of them are keeping each other from having a life.  Debbie could join a seniors group, go to a senior center and meet many people her age and have fun with them.  Where I live there is a senior center and they have yoga and dancing and computer classes, etc.  Both of them need to spread their wings.

I have been on Larissa's Instagram and I sense that she and Coltie are very happy to be on TV.

I don't condone fake reviews from people who have never been to the business, but yeah, I'm not sure what he hoped to accomplish there.

YES YES YES!!!!!! This is a dream come true for me!  I was thinking about the repercussions for douche behavior while wearing the (Un)-Friendlys employee shirt.  If Cousin Coltee didn't think there were wouldn't be blowback for how he acted towards Larissa, he's got another think coming!   I would love to be there when he reads the Yelp reviews and wonders why business is down 95 percent.

Did they ever say what Debbies disability is ?  It would seem if she is able to walk, breath and fly to that one aftershow, she can certainly find some type of part time work . I also did not like the fact that momma Debbie plopped herself down in the kitchen when Colte & Larissa were arguing. She should have had enough sense to leave, go for a walk or upstairs. She is loving the fights between them and then cries poor me, they want to kick me out...whaaahhhh

I don't have any sympathy for the toothy, marginally attractive - I don't think she's pretty at all and the extra black dye job doesn't help - Larissa-ee. She knew coming into it that Coltee lived with his mom, had cats he likes to dress up and wasn't the most exciting guy around. I don't believe for one second that Coltee told her he would kick his mom to the curb and stop letting his cats sleep with him once she got here. She started bitching the minute she got off the plane and hasn't stopped bitching since. She advertised herself in hopes of getting a green card. If she was smart (which I doubt), she'd make nice with Debbie, quit bitching about everything and just ride it out until she has the golden ticket of permanent residence, then leave. Instead, less than 24 hours after getting here, she's bitching about the house and saying she wants a biggee one with a pool and dissing the cat. When given the opportunity for a car with A/C, she wanted the unaffordable one and poopooed the affordable model.

By no means do I think Coltee's relationship with his mom is a healthy one. But, she knew what the situation was before she chose to come live with Coltee. If she's not willing to run the long con, she needs to go back to Brazil and fish for another sucker. Or better yet, stay there and take care of the children she brought into the world.

Probably an invisible disability like an autoimmune disorder that causes joint/muscle pains and fatigue (someone else guessed fibromyalgia).

If she has that tag in the car, does that mean she gets to drive still, or does that mean Colt just gets to use disabled parking when he’s driving with her?

The tag only means that you can park in a spot reserved for the handicapped, said parking spots being close to the entrance. There are also cardiac conditions with no outward signs, that make walking any distance difficult.

Oh, thanks! That makes sense too!

When I told my specialist that my heart was beating weird (buzzing like I swallowed a mobile phone) the first thing she asked me was, “are you out of breathe when you walk up the stairs?”

Didn’t know a cardiac conditon allows you a disability tag, tho.

I keep hearing from the Americans on the Spoonie communities (especially the ones who look younger/under 40) they get teh stinky-eye from people for using disability parking spots when they had the tag along! So anytime someone has an invisible disability, that’s the first thing I guess.

I have an invisible disability.  My left leg is full of metal after an accident where I was pushed by a little kid trying to get on a boat at a tourist attraction.  I broke the foot off of my leg, dislocated both ankles, and live with chronic arthritis - have since I was 23.  Some days, it's hard for me to move.  And I'm only in my 40's  - I can't imagine what it will be like years from now.  I get all kinds of nasty looks from people, rude notes under my wiper blades, and nasty comments ("Didn't know being fat was a disability!").  I won't hate on her for that.  It really sucks.  And it's not just me.  A friend who is a cancer survivor and has brittle bones as a result also gets horrible comments.  I don't know about NV, but where I live, you can't use a handicapped permit if the disabled person isn't in the car at all, and you can't use it if the disabled person is in the car but is not getting out of the vehicle.

I do believe him that he went over his situation with his mom in-depth with her.  Being an only child is tough - when a parent is disabled and needs care, there is no one but you to do it.  Right now, she doesn't appear to be completely disabled, but I can understand his wanting her to be nearby.

Let me start by saying that I don't particularly like Larissa .

But I'm am curious about the repeated references to her "abandoning" two children. My understanding is that she didn't just leave them in the street somewhere. One was adopted by a relative and the other lives with a family member.

This happens all the time across the world for exactly the reason that Larissa said she did it - she couldn't afford to care for her children.

<snipped for brevity>

In addition, abortion is criminalized in Brazil, so that is never an option for Brazilian women (unless they want to risk losing their life to a "back alley" abortion) even if they don't subscribe to any religious beliefs prohibiting it.

IOW, there are fewer options available to Brazilian women facing unplanned pregnancies (and women in many other countries, including some women in the US, depending upon where they live) when there isn't enough money to provide a child with their basic needs.

Edited to add:

Regarding the shouting match between cousin John and Larissa, the subtext to that entire rant from John was "My cousin Colt is an idiot, who can't see what a horrible person you are, and only wants you for sex. He's not smart enough to see what *I* see, and needs ME to spell it out for him!"

While IMO it was unforgivable that Colt didn't come to Larissa's defense, I'm absolutely gobsmacked he didn't come to his OWN defense against his cousin, who was essentially calling HIM stupid.

The cousins don’t want her.  That was a bluff on their part.  I would think the rest of the family is kissing Colt’s feet because they don’t want to take in poor aunt Debbie.

I think Debbie needs to be autonomous and independent from her son. It’s better for her.  If she needs to work, then she should.  A lot of seniors need to work to make ends meet.   JMPO, but I think Debbie can survive financially on her own and doesn’t need Colt to take care of her.  Colt is cheap, a stunted adult, controlling jerk and doesn’t want to pay to move out.  Debbie just doesn’t want to be alone.

I don't know her personally, and recognize that what we see on the show is carefully crafted in many cases, so I can't say for sure I would or not.  But if my husband told me in advance that he had to take care of his mother and that he lived with her, I likely would have backed out before marrying him - especially if I hadn't met her prior.  Larissa knew ahead of time that Debbie came with the deal.

Except for many examples where Colt has said the opposite to entice Larissa or placate her.  YOU can buy a couch, we can buy a car with air conditioning. WE will go home and talk to Debbie about moving. He says one thing and then does another. So, before she came to the U.S. I bet he was lying a lot.    Oh, I live with my mother now, but we can move after you get here.

That's all producer driven drama, just like taking Leida to that high-end furniture store.  It happens every...single....season.  Happened with Anfisa wanting a $10,000 ring, and many other examples.  Colt has said more than once that he explained to Larissa that his mom lived with him.  Beyond that, no one but them knows what was said.  But I absolutely believe he said his mother lived with him.  But at this point, this show is so contrived and half fake that the only person I believe is exactly like they're shown on TV is Leida, because Eric's daughter has been very vocal about it.

I saw a guy park in a handicapped space jump out and run in to a restaurant to pick up a food order, when I told him he had parked in a HC space he yelled at me that his son was HC'd...he was alone, no one else was with him.  Just oy.

There are people that feel entitled to those spaces just like there are people that feel like they are entitle to a couch or AC in the car or even to live separate from their MIL's.

Larissa should not marry in to that family, it will never be the relationship she wants, the cousins will never like her, the mother in law will never like her and her husband will never defend her and she will have to beg for every single thing she wants or needs even if she makes her own money. Coltee is a product of his upbringing, Debbie taught him how to be controlling and be passive aggressive thru example and sees nothing wrong with those tenets that he lives daily.  Maybe I can get Larissa and Olga to be roommates.

Just out of curiosity, I checked something out.  The distance from where Larissa went dress shopping to David's Bridal (where they would have been more likely to have something in her price range) is 7.5 miles.  David's probably wasn't interested in being part of such a low-class show.

The place where she went advertises that they are a "designer and custom gown shop."  Doesn't sound like they'd have anything in her price range.

Maybe David's was in the middle of some legal wrangling when the show was signing vendors:  "David's Bridal files for bankruptcy protection. David's Bridal files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The bankruptcy is part of a deal the retailer has reached with its lenders that will reduce its debt by more than $400 million. David's Bridal says its stores will stay open during the restructuring process. As someone who had the misfortune of dealing with a Debbie when I was with my ex, Larissa has nothing but my sympathies. It is a miserable, lonely situation to try to be with your partner and have his mother shove her face into what should be a personal, romantic relationship. It was a traumatic experience for me. What sucks is that my ex’s mom came off like Debbie, sweet to her son and the other family members, so they couldn’t fathom why I side-eyed her. But she was manipulative to a very concerning level.

As far as the DV charges are concerned, I am curious as to what really happened. I could see Colt being incredibly calm and Larissa being hysterical.

As far as the kids are concerned, Larissa seems to have left them with family. I will not criticize a mother who likely left her children with family who could provide a better life for them. I read that at one point, Larissa was working in Brazil and that money was used for child support. I also read that she ran into financial difficulty and couldn’t pay at some point, but still. Larissa did say she plans to at least bring her oldest over when she’s far more settled in the US. Makes sense to me. She can’t work and her housing is unstable right now.

But at this point, this show is so contrived and half fake that the only person I believe is exactly like they're shown on TV is Leida, because Eric's daughter has been very vocal about it.

I’m also inclined to believe Leida’s the one whose crayness isn’t fake drama.

The things she does/says are so awful, that if you weren’t like that in real life, you’d have enough self-awareness to understand how awful it comes off.

I like to think Larissa is playing a character like the trophy wife in “Modern Family”, LOL:

Someone on last week’s episode thread said they thought she might be a hipster performance artist. I like that theory too. 😂🤣

Nov 19, 2018"

The show was filmed well before the legal troubles.

They didn’t go to David Bridal because Larissa might actually find something she wants that is in the budget.   What fun would that be for Debbie?

That would also not make for good TV; they want drama, hence the tired 'can't get that dress' story line.

I went on the Nevada online search to look for marriage license under his name and there were three marriage licenses issued to a Colt Johnson

Maybe a different Colt Johnson....? God, I can't believe he could have convinced anyone except Larissa to marry him and his mother!

Larissa  could be a fun and good wife, in the proper hands.  Coltee/Deb are not mentally and emotionally wired to deal with a Latina in full Latina configuration.  Larissa is a Ferrari and Coltee is only capable of driving a 92 Honda Civic with no a/c, with primer on the passenger side door and mismatched off brand tires.
