I do not have much to add that has not already been discussed, but I thought the first episode of RHONY was far more interesting than the Orange County or Beverly Hills franchises have put forward in their latest seasons. It helps that I do not really hate any of the New York cast. My like or dislike of them varies depending on the episode or moment.

Dorinda's drunk ramblings cracked me up! I think I would not mind watching Ghost Hunters with her.

Random observations...Bethenny's driver has lovely, manicured hands. I rr'd to see when he was cuddling the pups. Bethenny's Barbie was reminiscent of her Roller Girl costume from past seasons. And I was wondering if they would address the death of class act Bobby Zarin and it appears that BF attended the funeral. Finally...as always.....Bethenny overkill.

Yes she did, but only after claiming it wasn't an attempt to darken her skin considerably.  I can only go by what I saw and I saw the so called bronzer much darker on her face.

I didn't see anything wrong with Luann's outfit. She was trying to be Diana Ross. Is a white woman not supposed to dress up like a black woman entertainer? Is she only supposed to dress up as a white entertainer like Ramona, Tinsley and Dorinda  did? Black people dress up as white popular figures all the time. Granted, Luann's outfit was a little tacky, I didn't think the idea of it was out of bounds.  Dorinda's outfit was tacky as hell.  First of all, half the dress was missing!  But it was quite amusing, especially when the bubbles started falling off.  By the time she was leaving, it looked like she only had a leotard on.  I would not have guessed who Ramona was supposed to be if no one said it.  I think Tinsley did early Madonna better than Ramona did Brittany Spears.

Say what you will about Bethenny, but when push comes to shove she actually walks the walk. Good for people like her who actually take action and take up charitable works instead of just attending galas that cost more to throw than they end up raising.

LuAnn is already annoying me, coming after Carole after she gave her space and distance and then telling the others how much she "suffered" over the past couple of years. Bitch, that's on you. You wanted a storyline so badly you failed to heed other's plentiful warnings.

I was surprised at how these women are coming for one another at their very first group get together. They must've been serving up some pretty strong drinks at Dorinda's Halloween party.

Looks like it's going to be another eventful season.

I don't get how SheriLea's observations are ugly or closed-hearted. A lot of people agree with her--me, for instance. Humility is a good quality. Beth lacks it. Doesn't mean we don't appreciate what she did, but her bringing attention to it is as off-putting to me as filming herself sobbing over her dog. (And no, I didn't like it when other people did it either.)

This is not a forum for criticizing other posters, by the way. We are supposed to confine our remarks to the people on the TV box.

Believe me, I'm right there with you on suspecting the worst of Bethenny & particularly on her motives of doing pretty much anything.  I mean, Jeez, discussing what other people choose to donate is crass & tacky -- and an invasion of privacy.  It's a typical Bethenny move -- thoughtless & nasty as hell. 

My first thought was, given how I'm so used to thinking the worst of Bethenny, that she did this to make herself to look way better than her castmates.  But no, I don't think that was it.  I kinda suspect she was poking at them -- to donate more to this extremely worthy effort.  Still think it's a tacky thing to do, but she was doing it for such a good cause, I'm OK with her nasty shit -- at least this time, in this situation.

I know everyone's bagging on Beth's very public grief over Cookie, but I have to say I almost understand it.  She feels the need to convey everything on social media; that's who she is.  The loss of a long time pet companion who has seen you through the many phases of your life is devastating, and can make you pretty fucking crazy.  I've been there, and done that, too many times to count in recent years, and my only social media outlet is these forums.  I'm fairly certain I've become totally unraveled and posted unconscionable things in my fugue stages of grief (which continue to arise to this day).  I still ugly cry on a regular basis - there's just no way a camera would ever capture an image of it, or me (unless it's the dreaded DMV pic).

New York is back, and more dysfunctional than ever! I love it ? 

I’m pleased Carole has come back with some fire in her belly. We haven’t seen the feisty side of her since way back when Aviva accused her of having a ghostwriter.  She has been like the human version of Ambien the past few seasons. 

Beth did good with the charity work. Normally she drives me insane, but she really stepped up and delivered a lot of help to many folks were literally left with nothing.   Also ...rest in peace, Cookie. ? 

Many of the ladies look ‘refreshed’. Some a little too refreshed *cough* Carole *cough*.   Beth looks good. There is softness to her face, and she looks healthier overall. Ramona continues to turn back the clock. She looks incredible. Big applause to whomever is her face overhaul team. 

My jaw dropped when Luann waltzed in dressed as Diana Ross. How completely offensive and inappropriate. 

Dorinda, she’s a woman after my own heart, and may she never change. For me, a good night would include spending it with a friend and indulging in some wine, a bit of chicken, and watching some Ghost Hunters.

Going back and forth between “current time” and flashbacks and “future time” with the talking heads, it was jarring that every single one of these women had three different faces! And when the flashbacks contained multiple years, add on multiple face options. The amount of plastic surgery is unreal—EVERY year they have something done?! The worst new look is “future” Sonja in the talking heads with her terrible facelift that had to have been done by the same plastic surgeon that did Ramona’s. Sonja now has the “crazy eyes.” Why, Sonja?!? She looks so much prettier in “current time” and flashbacks than the “future” new “surprised iguana” look.

From the previews, it just looks to me like it's going to be a season of them screaming at each other, but we'll see. I hope not.  I have read that this season's showrunner is the same one that Atlanta has.  I don't watch Atlanta but from what I gather, this season has been a disaster.

Other than that:

Sonja looked awful in the TH with the red dress.  I almost didn't recognize her.

I also thought party guests were supposed to come as a living famous person.  LuAnn was way off (in more ways than one) as Diana Ross. 

It appears that Nasty Bethenny has resurfaced.  Her comment to Ramona -something along the lines of "Call me when you've accomplished something" was way out of line and Ramona, for all her faults didn't deserve that.  Way to empower women, Bethenny.  Put them down every chance you get.  And while I applaud her good works, it was very tacky to mention how much anyone donated.  Actually, it's more than tacky, it's just plain wrong - unless she checked with them first - many people would prefer to keep that information private.

For some reason, Sonja's version of "How I Spend My Summer Vacation" rang false to me.   I think there is more to it, but whatever.

Carole still gets on my nerves, continually trying to show everyone how hip, cool and aware she is.

2) Bethenny: Yes, she "bragged" about what she accomplished in PR and TX.  People were criticizing her for putting it on social media when she was doing it and they still are.  But here the is other side of that--people saw what she was accomplishing and so they decided to donate to her.  She wouldn't have been able to accomplish nearly as much if she hadn't been all over social media with it.  You can argue why she was putting it on social media all day but nobody truly knows why she did except for Bethenny.  You can assume but you don't know.  However, she accomplished a lot and has helped a lot of people.  I'm not going to shade her for that. 

3) Lu...  Oh Lu. I can't believe that in this day and age people have to explain that black face is NEVER appropriate. It wasn't even a good Diana Ross.  As posted above, she should have gone with an iconic Diana Ross look.  Not a racist trope.

She made Ramona look bad by only donating 3k. Tinsley gave 10k. She should have said both made generous donations

I thought B's videos during that time were very disturbing. But I've never lost a pet that I had for ages like that. I can't even imagine the frame of mind she was in. I am willing to give grieving people a pass, because I'm sure it's hard to think with a straight mind in those circumstances. I do think she needs to try and create some better boundaries, though. I am one of the few B fans left, but I do think a little privacy wouldn't hurt.

I, honestly, didn't even really think she was bragging that much. I'm assuming the off-camera producers were asking her about what went down and she was explaining what she did. It was a HUGE part of her life when they weren't filming. Now, most of us followed along. But for those that didn't? They needed to be brought up to date. I thought she did an awesome thing, and talking about it IS how you raise awareness.

First, I am not sure how I missed the information that NY was starting a new season...how did that happen? And second, I know Luann has had a rough year but that is no excuse for her to wear that awful red jump suit for the opener, she needs a waistline but yet she favors those unflattering jumpsuits.  Now you are all wondering how THAT is my take away from this season so far. LOL.

I'm already sick to death of Bitter Carole. She's never totally forgiven Luann for all of the stuff that went down when she and Adam first started dating and holding a grudge like that on a show like this is tiresome. It would have been a totally human thing for her to do to send Luann a text or something when she found out about the divorce. Even Bethenny reached out and she's had more beef with Lu than the rest combined. I think Carole realized that she was in the wrong and had no other defense other than sputtering back that Lu should have reached out when she heard about her breakup with Adam. RME.

Can't wait to hear everything about the breakup with Adam. It must really suck to be dating someone for a couple of years and then be reduced to the occasional morning fuck.

Ramona didn't seem drunk to me at all at the Halloween party. Until she (hilariously) dissed Bethenny's new highway home in the Hamptons, she was well-behaved and cracking me up with her facial expressions. I loved her dig about Bethenny's place because you know that it really burned Bethenny that it was all on camera, her just-off-the-highway home that she'd planned to brag about.

Tired of Sonja and her weirdness. She and Tinsley aren't going to have anything real to do this season, are they? Yawn.

The NY ladies are the funnest housewives to watch.  They say mean things but as they're mostly all talking at once they never hear - and anyway the egos are massive and they've had a few cocktails so it doesn't matter.  I just love that they all wave their arms about when talking.  It's a wonder more tables aren't cleared and glasses smashed.  Hope it's an entertaining season.

I don't think I'll bother with Beverly Hills any more.  They have no idea how to have fun and just dredge up slings and arrows from the distant past.

I think the term blackface is misused a lot.  Blackface is ugly and exaggerated with clown white lips, like what Ted Danson did when he was dating Whoopi Goldberg.  Using a darker bronzer in a flattering way is not blackface imo.
