I thought Christine wanting to sing was a sweet gesture.  I personally would be too emotional and choked up to do so.  Her singing wasn't great, but I'm glad she's trying.  I agree it is too high for her.  Also, I think if she sang it more sweetly and simply, it would convey the sentimental mood better than the way she is trying to sing currently.

Lord, what a boring episode.  I never thought I’d miss FT.  I kind of love that no one let Meri know that Garrison was home.  That’s what she gets for disengaging from the “family” goings-on.  I’m not sure what she expects, but I call major bullshit on her not hearing what was going on right outside.  The only other interesting thing that happened was Christine’s song. Wow.  I think it’s sweet that she wants to put herself out there like that to do something special for her daughter’s wedding, but the pitch is way, way, way too high for her.  My cat sat wide-eyed throughout the entire rehearsal.

Christine, "Jenelle is lip syncing. It's not really her thing." Yes! We knowGod they need to give it a rest with that storyline!

And did anyone else notice that when they were talking about moving back to Utah, Christine was like Robyn, come on tell Kody you want to stay! And then Robyn was like, oh I've always wanted to go back to Utah. And now we know why Kody wants this. He does whatever Robyn wants. I can't believe they are even entertaining the idea of moving. I feel so sorry for Christine and the all the younger kids.

She expects that she can do whatever she wants whenever she wants -- engage or not -- yet the family should still be begging her to be involved, texting her, including her etc. She seems not to understand that that's not how it works. Don't any of these people have friends outside the family structure -- or did they never have friends?? If your friends call you to chat/go out etc. and you never want to go/make excuses/don't engage while you're out, people get the hint that you're not interested and the calls stop. This is a lesson most people learn in middle/high school.

The kids are a lot older now and have their own views and opinions. They're not dumb -- they can see how loves them, runs to see them, and cares about their lives -- and those are the people they seek out. Garrison was so thrilled to see the people who wanted to see him that he didn't give one second's though to -- hey where's Meri, can someone call her. Same with the other kids who were around who don't live at home anymore -- Logan drove Garrison home and likely hadn't seen the family in a while himself since he doesn't live at home -- he clearly wasn't looking for Meri. Christine even said that the teen boys -- who aren't the most observant people n the world -- have noticed and commented that Meri doesn't come over and when she does, she's on her phone the whole time.

I've always viewed their family structure as batshit but if there's ONE positive to it, it is that it is a big family that is relatively tight. In most families in the western world -- if you have 1 kid and they move away and you're divorced/separated, you're pretty much by yourself all the time. Here you have 3 other wives and probably like 10+ kids living within a stones throw of you. Clearly they "exaggerated" back in the day about ALL the kids belonging to each mom or whatever -- but honestly you can view them at least the same way one would view nieces/nephews. If you were home all alone and knew you had a nephew coming home - right next door - and it was a tight enough family where you could just waltz on over and not feel like people would act like "why is she here" -- most normal people WOULD engage. Meri's made her own bed.

She's got her Lularoe monkey now.  I bet she was doing a live sale or something when Garrison came home and just couldn't be bothered, and when she's on her phone she's checking her VIP page.

I think the other wives will develop a much greater understanding of how Meri feels over the next five or so years.  In five years, Janelle, too, will be an empty nester, and with the exception of Truly, Christine's children will be out of the nest or close to it.  Only Robyn will still have young children.  It will be interesting to see how Janelle and Christine cope with the change.  (If Kody takes on a fifth wife, does anyone really envision Janelle lending a hand with child care for the younger Browns?)

Mari was telling the truth when she said that the other wives neither want nor need her help with their younger children.  The other wives are networked largely because their children are networked.  They don't seem to hang out with one another much when the cameras are not rolling.  They may well feel as disconnected as Meri in a few years.

Mari's error was in seemingly not seeking alimony and a property settlement from Kody.  Had she done so, she would not have to go crawling to the rest of the clan for money for the B&B.

BTW, I thought I read somewhere on the Board that Maddie and Caleb did live with Meri for a time.

I kind of love that Meri's not even halfway pretending to give a damn anymore--and clearly none of the others mind that she's missing! I thought it was pretty hilarious that we got not one but TWO "Oh sorry I missed this family event. How disappointing!" confessionals. Esp now that she'll be flitting down to the B&B going forward, I imagine that's the way it'll be for the rest of the time this thing is on air.

I missed why Kody gave CALEB an expensive watch from his ridiculous collection for Maddie's birthday? Or was that their gift for making him a grandpa (gag)?

Aspyn's fiance seemed super uncomfortable to be on TV in that little commercial announcing their engagement. The fact that he's a "longtime family friend" also seems very sketch. I wonder if he will unseat Caleb as favored son-in-law if Kody's known/liked this dude longer.

Their amazement that people would give lingerie at a bridal shower... Lol. Almost as funny as the 50 Shades discussion.

This bullshit about not having enough room for Maddie and Caleb, when they have at least two bedrooms that are empty 90% of the time... SMDH.

Christine's overwhelming guilt about not liking FT (then...or now, IMO) is making her overcompensate like whoa. That claddagh ring was a lot. Cutting up her own wedding dress (although honestly that quilted satin blanket needed to be cut up), doing that terrible song an octave too high (shame on that music teacher!). Relax, Christine. Just relax.

"We're like a divorced couple living on the same block!" No, you ARE a divorced couple! Honestly, I'm surprised they're even talking about/acknowledging the lack of relationship between Kody and Meri. Because that means it's an arc and it needs to be resolved. And unless they're working towards Meri actually leaving, which I highly doubt, that means they have to work toward a reconciliation probably...and I don't see that happening either. Although I don't understand what made Kody and Christine like each other better suddenly. (The fact that he really didn't like her/wasn't attracted to her/wasn't into it....is so weird. Christine honestly seems to be the easiest to love out of all the wives--so it's always been surprising that he wasn't into her.)

So now the B&B will no longer be a B&B just a home for Meri's mom that they're going to buy? That's...something.

Show recap:  Janelle says 68,000 times that she just can't with the "I Will Survive" lip sync.  Well, I could barely survive this stupid, boring episode.

OMG yes...usually Janelle doesn't bug me as much as the others, but she got on my nerves with this! My God woman, it's a little skit at Christine's house, not a ballet performance for the Queen of England.

Right!  LOL    And doesn't she have other daughters?  What about when they get married?

That would require thinking ahead...something this group is not so good at. ;)

I'm somewhat relieved to hear that Christine's wedding dress was an unfortunate accident and not purposefully chosen in a room that had a working light and a mirror. It looked like a garment bag.

Let’s talk about Christine. What kind of drugs is that woman on? I’m going to say speed. Holy jumpin’ is she ever flying high this season. Maybe she found that being louder than loud works for getting Grody’s attention.

Christine’s wedding dress was a sloppy satin sack. By all means, cut it up, and then burn the rest. It’s not like it brings back great memories anyway. Maybe they can do a vow renewal. Oh god! I can’t believe I invited yet another celebration to be added to this family.

Why does beautiful Aspyn get only a 1 minute blurb about her engagement but we have to endure the never ending  tonymykelticalebmaddie love-a-thon?

I’m not looking forward to Maddie dropping her new baby friend in the family tub either.

For the record,  Aspyn’s  fiancé resembles a chubby Amish farmer. I wonder if they go polygamy and become the star in Grody’s beady eyes.

I find it hilarious that four frumpy women get to pearl clutching about a book of erotic fiction or some tasteful lingerie given at a bridal shower yet have no problem sleeping with the same man.

I think Fat T is funny as hell. You know who annoys me way more than Fat T? Mykelti. You know who annoys me way more than Mykelti? Christine.

Speaking of our little song bird. I can see why the teacher hasn't told her she shouldn't sing at the wedding. She'd lose a student if she told Christine the truth about her awful voice. My question is, why haven't the other wives told her how terrible it is?  Why are they letting her make a fool of herself?? If this were my friend I'd be like, "Hon, maybe you should reconsider the song. You're not ready to sing in public." But none of these wives who say they love each other want to tell her the truth? They love to watch each other make asses of themselves. They hate each other. I'll never believe anything else no matter how much they pretend.

I agree with Janelle about not moving Hunter's room if he's in the military and homesick a lot. He didn't knock up his sister so why should he give up his source of comfort? It's probably the place he dreams he could be at night when he's feeling down. He should always know that he has his home while he's serving. I'd feel the same as janelle if my son joined. But Kody wants to just boot him for Princess Maddie.

Maddie's husband is a loser if he's in his 30s and has to move home. He's a mooch and so is Maddie. They should be ashamed to bring a baby into this when they refuse to live on their own. I know they can get their own place. I know because I did it, had a baby when I was way younger than that man, and I wasn't getting TLC money either.

Im kinda digging Meri's fuck off attitude.

These dummies think giving lingerie at a bridal shower is cultural. Wow. And they talk about FT's culture way too much. In a "we're better" kind of way.

So is St. George in Mexico or some shit? Why does Mykelti think Fat T'a family have never heard one of the most popular songs in the world since the early 70s? Gosh, it's kind of offensive that they treat them like they're so stupid because they're Mexican.

What was with Christine screaming around the kitchen. She's really trying hard to perform for the cameras.

Maybe it's because I was working on a PowerPoint as I watched this, but I thought it was kind of a cute episode. (Except Tony, of course. Everything he says and does is obnoxious and he's an ethnocentric jackass.)

There were a couple of moments with all four wives on the couch where they all genuinely seemed to be having a good time. Jenelle even appeared to legitimately crack up at one of Meri's jokes. Kody seemed truly (truley?) remorseful about his and Christine's depressing wedding now that he actually likes her. Aspyn is a nice and thoughtful sister, and she and Christine have hilarious rapport. I'm the farthest thing from a baby person, but Ari walking was cute. Garrison seems like a very sensible young man. Robyn barely annoyed me. The love stories gifts at Mykelti's shower was a great idea, and the wives' befuddlement at Fifty Shades of Violent Lady-Porn was endearing.

TEAM WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME.

It was a good episode, quite a few sweet moments. Kody and Christine, Garrison coming home, the shower, that dance routine (hilarious).

Biggest WTF was Meri missing Garrison's homecoming - there's something fishy about that.

Wow, just finished and saw the previews for next week, and Christine is PISSED about Meri now just wanting the home for her mother! Can't say I blame her. Meri pitched it as a business (a shaky one, IMO) for the family to sink money into, not "let's use money from the family coffers to buy a house for my mom."

Perhaps Christine's also a bit peeved because she had her mother move in with her, and Meri has plenty of room to have her mother move into her house, if her mother really needs a place to live. Also Christine's mother, Annie, was supposed to be the main one running the B&B, so she might feel a bit slighted for her mom's sake.

It's all just so weird and goofy for so many reasons. She distances herself from the family, but wants family money to buy a B&B. She "misses" Garrison's homecoming, even though she's right there in her house. Then she wants the house for her mom, not to run as a business.

Meri, just decide if you want to be a part of this screwball family or not. Either engage in family activities (and be "present" when there), or don't ask for the use of family money.

If she said "I'm done with these people, I'm leaving, have a nice life" and ran away, I'd be cheering her on. But don't ask them to finance your running away.

I don't think it even crosses her mind that she's being unfair...she just seems to think she deserves whatever she wants, on whatever terms she wants. (She's not the only one who acts that way, but that's a whole different can of worms.)

When Janelle and Jody were going the rounds about how many bedrooms for who and why, in a small voice she said her mother deserves her private room. Did we know that she lives there? So they are 3:4 in terms of maternal grandmothers moving in?

It’s like a 1 hr 49 min drive from Vegas to st George - st George is in the southern western corner of the state and is very close to the Nevada border...

I will say that I assumed the wives were talking about their own culture when discussing the lingerie rather than FT’s culture. I think they realize that they are different than the majority of the US population (um, world?). it reminded me of the time I went to rural Utah for work and had to justify why I didn’t have kids and got married after 35. I was like, in my culture*, women go to college and then to graduate school or professional school. Then we work and live on our own. Then we get married and have kids. They were like, whoa. We get married at 18. I should have explained about how in my culture, women sleep with whoever they want to cause sex is awesome, but I was working with them in a professional capacity. Lol

I think the kids, especially the older kids, are close to each other and genuinely care for each other like cousins who live close together would. I think the wives just pretend to like each other for the cameras. I think some tolerate each other better than others, like Christine and Robyn getting along right now. But even they had a disagreement where Robyn never asks Christine to watch her kids, and instead finds an outside person. I think a lot of the sister wife "bond" you are seeing is played up for the cameras. Meri just doesn't bother to fake it anymore. I think its very telling that in a family of 5,000 kids, not one wants to live polygamy.

OF COURSE Kody gives Caleb a gift for Maddie's birthday. Of course. "Well, they were his and hers." So? You can't JUST buy your daughter a gift for her birthday? Doofus.

I know he's LOVING that they're moving back. Guess which wife's house he's going to be spending the most time at now? Sorry, Robyn!

I'm with Jenelle, though. Kody is going way overboard trying to make space for them. He wants to put up walls for what's supposedly a temporary move? GTFO here with that. "They're husband and wife, they need their own bathroom". Okay, then they can get their own house.

I don't get why they don't just stay at Meri's. Or is every spare bedroom filled with that God-awful Lularoe crap???

It's interesting that Kody is suddenly so gung ho to move back to Utah, and that Christine is vehemently opposed. I get it. While, yes, their culture is much stronger there, there's also more opposition there. Christine grew up the most entrenched in that world, and I think she likes the freedom they have to just be themselves in LV.

It was nice to see Garrison's homecoming. These people do a lot of things wrong, but I do love how close the siblings are, no matter which mom they come from. Most of the kids are pretty decent people. Garrison seemed to be a bit of a punk when he was younger, but he seems much calmed down and stable.

I want to know more about why Meri wasn't there, though. She said she was right next door, "but I must have missed the memo". Does that mean no one invited her? Or was it a misunderstanding on HER end? My guess is she came home early from whatever she was doing and didn't tell anyone, so she didn't know about Garrison. I feel like Meri just likes to pick and choose what family stuff she wants to attend lately, and it just doesn't work like that. I'm sorry you only had one child, but you signed on for polygamy, you do family stuff.

I'm glad the bridal shower is over, because I got tired of seeing them rehearse that stupid dance. Of course Meri shows up and tries to take over. "Can't you hear 4 beats?" STFU. I love how Christine deals with her! "That's awesome" and just moves on. She doesn't engage. It's hilarious.

I have to say, Jenelle did much better with the dance than I thought she would. She wasn't as effervescent as the others, but she looked in tune with them. But Robyn in that blonde wig? No, girl. You look like an 80-year-old grandmother.

I love when they talk about old shit. Hearing Kody and Christine talk about their wedding, how sad she was and how unenthused he was - that's fascinating to me. I want more of that. I want to hear more about the early days. Kinda weird she cut up her dress, but that thing was UGLY. She's a lot smaller now than when she was married. She may be the only one who can say that.

THANK GOD we had barely any Tony this week!!!

Questions that are plaguing me this morning:

Robyn's the same age as me???

Jenelle went to a Korean bath house????

OMG, Christine running around between the tables and screaming in the kitchen was more than I could handle. What is wrong with that woman? She's trying really hard to show us the carefree, fun loving, happy mom and sister wife this season instead of the depressed, neglected sister wife of season's past. Not buying it. Did anybody else hear her emphatically say she will not move back to Utah when they were having the Utah couch discussion. She actually said it twice and the last time she was dead serious. Interesting.

I don't understand why Christine chose that song to dance to at the shower. The song is about a woman that got dumped and will survive regardless of being left alone. WTF?

Oh, and Kody, there is no such word as "irregardless". It's "regardless", you asshat.

You ARE right! My husband does that, too. I think his perception of time is skewed when it comes to construction. My experience, having lived with the man 12 years, is that once a wall or floor opens up, all the problems start. “The wiring is wrong!” “It needs a new such and such, too!” “Now, mudding and painting will only take 3 days, tops!” Suuuuuuuuure.

But wait ... I thought if they moved back to Utah the family would be torn apart, persecuted,  and Kody would be put in jail forever. Isn’t that why they moved in the middle of the night with no plan and had the kids freaking out every time they saw a crossing guard ?

I can't believe that Christine actually sang at the wedding when 400 plus people were there? What in the world is wrong with her family if they let her do this? Aspyn would be pretty if her eyes were not set so far a part. Plus I thought her hair was naturally blond, and yet it was several different colors at various times in this show? I thought Madie was going to be a lawyer, with her end goal of being a Supreme Court Justice?

Yes, because then they would be sooooo very faaarrrrr awayyyyy . . . (next door).  Rolling my eyes here!

I actually think they are arching the story line toward Meri going off, to which I say "good riddance, sad sack!"  Why else would they make such a point to have her explaining her absences in her talking heads?  If she were just trying to slink around in the background I don't think they'd give her any attention.  She's getting her own place 3-4 hours away, c'mon!  She doesn't interact when she is home, right next door to the homecoming festivities. The writing is on the wall!  They can use Meri's house for some of the kids moving back and starting their families.

Yeah, the lip-sync was funny, let's all laugh at how ridiculous the moms look.  I question the song choice though.  Was there some special meaning to "I Will Survive"?  That seemed strange for a wedding shower.

And Christine, no, you can't sing.  Please won't someone tell her????

My experience, having lived with the man 12 years, is that once a wall or floor opens up, all the problems start. “The wiring is wrong!” “It needs a new such and such, too!” “Now, mudding and painting will only take 3 days, tops!” Suuuuuuuuure.

What's funny is, professionally he is always on time, if not done sooner than expected. He's known for it in the community where he works. But personal projects??? He's like Kody, "Oh, that'll just take a weekend".....four score and seven years later.....

Yeah I think Robyn shaved a year or two off. I could've sworn she was born in 1977 and her claim of "I'd be 38!" puts her closer to 1980. You are not an '80s baby, Robyn! We don't claim you!

They film so far behind, though. Maybe she was close? LOL! I just don't think she looks 38 and Christine 44. I switch those too. Robyn has aged rapidly in the last few years.

Please help me recall, but, didn't Christine say last week that Mykelti ASKED her to sing at the wedding?  IF SO, that's pretty mean, but, I think that Mykelti has a mean streak anyway, for some reason.   Unless, multiple people have told you many times over the years that you are an outstanding singer, you don't need to sing solos in public.  But, I don't blame others for keeping quiet about Christine's solo.  There is no way for that to not hurt Christine's feelings and who wants to have that riff between you and a family member for now and eternity.  I'd let it go too.  In the scheme of life, I suppose it's not such a big deal.

This is the first that I heard about Meri's clothing line.  How's that coming along?  lol  Does she wear the clothes she sales?

I was surprised that Janelle did so well in the skit. I actually thought that was pretty good and thought that Christine did a good job choreographing it.   I thought their costumes were more flattering on them than their regular clothes! lol

Does anyone have an opinion as to why the family is so intent on showing their love for Tony.  I mean, there's normal behavior of how you welcome a person into the family and then there's BROWN style.  I think it's really odd.

Isn't Caleb thirty?  What have they been doing that they need help to "get back on their feet"

this was the first time there was NOTHING interesting in the show...I was so bored.  So I think this is a storyline, having Maddie and Caleb move back, to gin up some interest.

I question the song choice though.  Was there some special meaning to "I Will Survive"?

I thought it was TOTALLY appropriate.  The whole family is hoping they will "survive" having Tony in the family.

I saw Solomon pick his nose and eat it while he was sitting on Kody's lap, so maybe that was supposed to be the highlight.
