  1. Yes! I remember their huge stockpiles of items that didn't always seem like the kind of staples I would need a lot of. There seemed to be an obsession with bottles of barbeque sauce. How much of that do most people need?
  2. I agree regarding Mary's hair. I think they put her in the long hair to make her look different from her Laura Petrie character on the DVD show. And I think it really worked. I am a fan of both shows but the characters of Laura and Mary seem so different to me. While Laura Petrie seemed poised and confident as a housewife and mother, Mary Richards (in season 1) seemed more awkward and unsure and "younger" in a way. I don't mean "awkward" in a clumsy way- more of a lanky way where she doesn't know what to do with her hands and kind of slumps over. Mary Richards seems taller- I guess DVD was so tall that Laura seemed petite by comparison. Mostly It really shows what a great actress MTM was- Her two characters seem like completely different people to me.
  3. I agree. If I left a job because it was a negative experience and there were co workers who made it awful for me, I would not later go back to what is essentially a "work party." That's what this is for the housewives, even if officially it is for Garcelle's birthday and Denise is still friends with Garcelle. If I were still close to one of my former co- workers and the work group was celebrating their birthday, I would not attend. I would apologize to my friend and take them out for their birthday seperately at another time. Surely my friend would understand that I would not want to engage with that same group that was so ugly to me when we worked together. If this were real life, and not a reality TV show, Garcelle's party was big enough that Denise could have made an appearance to support and celebrate Garcelle, while not even having to engage with the other housewives much. But with cameras there, they would have all tried to engage, cause drama, etc. The one reason why Garcelle might have expected Denise to attend, would be if Denise was hoping to get back on the show. The party would have been a great way to get involved again. Lisa R wasn't there, and there is a question about whether she lied about texting Denise to try to reconnect. Denise and Garcelle could have controlled the narrative more easily without Lisa R there. The fact that Denise did not show up tells me she is not trying to get back into the Housewives drama.
  4. Sandy acted as if the medicine were illegal because Hannah had no prescription. If that were the case, though, why would she return the Valium to Hannah before Hannah left? Imagine if Hannah actually had something like cocaine or if her Valium had someone else's name on the prescription. Sandy would not just have given it back to Hannah to walk off the boat with. She would follow whatever procedures "Maritime Law" dictated- lock it up for evidence, turn it in to authorities, etc. After all her attitude about the severity of Hannah's "drug possession," she just handed it back to her to keep.
  5. I think what upset me about this episode is that Sandy and Malia keep changing their stories about what the issues are. They state or imply that Hannah has illegal drugs, that she has taken drugs routinely that have left her impaired, and that she cannot be trusted with her job, because she was "freaking out" and hyperventilating. There is no evidence that these things are true. What is true, and Hannah admits, is that she did not register her legal medication with the boat. I'm just wondering if termination is a reasonable consequence. If there is a clear, consistent, sacred rule that any medication, prescription or OTC, must be declared and registered in writing before the charter, then that is the rule. Even if it is only Sandy's rule (because Capt. Lee didn't note it) if she is clear about the rule's importance at the beginning of each charter, then all crew should follow the rule. What I would like to know is how consistently is this rule followed and enforced across all charters? Among all of Sandy's charters, how many medications are routinely declared? Does each crew member typically turn in a form filled with all the meds they bring along? I can't imagine being stuck on a boat for six weeks without packing all kinds of medications just in case- even when I was young. The indication is that all meds- even if OTC like Benedryl must be registered. So I would think Sandy would be very clear about the seriousness of this and would have everyone's list of declared medications. On the other hand, if this is a rarely-enforced policy that no one mentions and no one cares about, then termination is not appropriate. Did Hannah try to deceptively leave her prescription meds off a declaration form that everyone routinely receives? Or does registering a medication require such a production of red tape that no one has time for it as they are rushing to get the yacht ready for the first charter? What is on Malia's form? She has no trouble broadcasting Hannah's belongings, so Malia's should be shared with us as well. Pete indicates that drugss aren't always registered but he may not be the most reliable source.
  6. Did anyone else think, "Baby Yoda could choke on that ball," or was it just me?
  7. I don't get it either- I find it disturbing, and it does not make me want to go to Aldi.
  8. Did she say it was easy? From my experience, an oversupply was awful. I won't go into it, but it did not make it easy, She did it for three months, it wasn't something she felt she could continue. That does not sound like it was easy for her. Her problem with it was just not one of the "approved" excuses. So she did not claim any of those. Good for her.
  9. I thought Christine wanting to sing was a sweet gesture. I personally would be too emotional and choked up to do so. Her singing wasn't great, but I'm glad she's trying. I agree it is too high for her. Also, I think if she sang it more sweetly and simply, it would convey the sentimental mood better than the way she is trying to sing currently.
