Seriously. No matter what you think of Pedro's family, that is totally boorish behavior. And I can't imagine they'd try that if Pedro's family were poor people living in, say, the deep South rather than foreigners. They are treating his family like they're subhuman. Common courtesy, yo.

ETA: Pedro's abuela's digs are also way nicer than many I've seen in Central America.

Two wrongs don’t make a right.  Both Chantal and Pedro’s families are awful.  If chicken feet is not part of Pedro’s family every day diet, then why was the dish offered to Chantal’s family?  I don’t blame them for being offended. So, Pedro chose to use his TLC checks to give his mom and sister a come-up and Chantal opt to use hers to buy a new car, I don’t understand why she is upset; especially since he also bought her a ring for $3,500.  Like he said, you get more bang for your US bucks in some countries.   However, his sister and mom seem very greedy and entitled.   

Pao’s “agent” claims she is the best and yet her client hasn’t had an assignment. Clearly Russ hasn’t seen the tape, otherwise he would know that it didn’t take much convincing to get Pao to doff her top. 

I have a feeling that if the immigration lawyer wasn’t on tape, his advice to Loren and Natasha would have been much different.  Let’s face it, there are at least a half million illegal aliens in this country, so one more won’t make any difference.  I don’t believe it would take Artem very long to find a nice Jewish girl and get married.  Problem solved. 

Jorge and Anfisa are a murder docudrama waiting to happen.   

I am over Dani and Mo.  I wish they would just go away, because there’s nothing to see there.

I am Team Anfisa! Did you see their living room about 10 minutes into the show? Couch, cat tree, coffee table and teeny round rug. There is nothing nice in that room. The cat tree is from chewy.com, by the way. Not one thing on the wall, not even a chair. I've stayed in nicer Red Roof Inns! The hotel he checked into was nicer than their apartment.

Not that I think every wall needs a chair. (My English teacher is spinning in her grave,)

I agree that family Chantal was acting deplorable. Nothing like showing your ugly American asses by not getting out of the van. What is up with these people and their seemingly inability to use the Google. Google Dominican culture and you will get info on the social structure, the food,how people live, etc. Who travels to a foreign country and doesn't bother to learn anything about where they are going. 

Pao can lose me with Miami is all about sexy. No Pao you just want it to be that way. The reality is that Miami is like any other city. I am lol at the previews if next week's photo shoot and Pao standing on a ladder. So much classier.

Interesting that there were two different spins from Jorge and Anfisa on their separation. Anfisa says she kicked him out. Jorge tells his sister that he left. I tend to believe Anfisa. She's a demon, but at least she's an honest demon. Jorge on the other hand? Conveniently leaves out all of his I'm-a-millionaire lies in his conversation with Lourdes.

Chantel's Spanish seems to be improving. Maybe Loren could be assed to learn a little more Hebrew or Ukrainian. Natasha seems pretty kind to her and would probably appreciate that effort.

Omg Alexi's mom is so sweet!  I thought the scene with her and Loren cooking together was cute.  It's good to finally see an in-law actually getting along with the married couple.  I think it's a first!

Anfisa really means, "I got my green card so time to kick Jorge to the curb and find a real sugar-daddy."  Funny that during the meeting Jorge had with his sister he made it sound like it's his choice if he and Anfisa get back together.  He's so delusional.

Paola's been so busy partying she didn't care whether this "agent" gave her work or not.  If her pictures weren't up to par she shouldn't hire the same lousy photographer to take more lousy pictures.  Sadly, Paola's age really showed next to her "idol" the fitness model.

Please please please let cameras be allowed into the courtroom during the Mo/Danielle annulment hearing!  I doubt either of them will be able to control themselves and it'll be a big sideshow.

Sorry, but I feel that Pedro's family definitely cooked those feet and necks to offend Chantel's family because neither the mom, nor the daughter, took even ONE bite. They both said, "I don't eat that." Then they both smirked. If they had eaten that, I'd give them the benefit of doubt, but, no way, Jose. No way would I have touched that. Pedro's been in the country a year and never noticed that we don't eat that. He's been gaming too much.

I just googled Dominican Republic foods. None of the first 20 recipes had chicken feet or necks.

If you're going to drive 5 hours to get somewhere, why not leave earlier so you don't arrive in the dark? 

Also, you have to have a green card to work, I think Anfisa just got hers, plus, she has no car.  Granted, she probably should start looking soon.

I've had chicken feet before at Chinese restaurants, and I think they taste pretty good, but it's one of those foods that you have to use your hands with, so it can be a bit messy.  But it was a bit odd that Pedro's family didn't eat them.  It would have been different if that was Pedro's favorite and he was dying to eat it, but that didn't really seem to be the case.  Eh, I ate slow roasted pig's feet the other day, and those were delicious, so I guess I really don't have a problem with eating feet in general.

Agreed. The last shot with the mom lounging on the couch pontificating (and the aforementioned TV whine session at the airport) were particularly galling. She and the sister had a perma-smirk going on the whole time.

But I really couldn't "root" for either family -- Chantel's family (especially her mother) did NOT go to the DR so "the families could meet/get to know each other." She definitely came with an agenda & was pretty rude, insensitive, weirdly voodoo-obsessed  & culturally unaware . . . IMO. I've seen chicken feet on Chopped. Maybe not STUPID Americans, but definitely in their bubble and not too interested in going beyond it.

Korean style chicken feet are really good (at the soju tents if they have those around anymore) but daaamn, I was thinking the same thing "WHAT? No plastic gloves with those feet?  Huh?"  That made me think Pedro's mom was just effing with them and wanted to watch Chantel's family squirm as to how to eat them properly.

There is no way in hell I would put up with Pedro sending that much shit home per month to the DR.  Nope,  Not.  I can see sending money/stuff home if the family was beyond dirt poor but this gravy train's gonna be never ending.  Know that.  Why can't Pedro just send gifts home for birthdays and XMAS.  The monthly gift grabbing's too damned much.  Culture be damned.  Chantel needs to run away.  As in fast.  This relationship won't last.

Chantel and Pedro: I think both families were being rude. Mother Chantel wanted to leave the Mother Perdro's house right away, didn't really make an effort. And then out in the woods, they couldn't get out of the van? You drive for 4 hours, take one look at the place and decide not to even get out? Really, they should have googled Dominican culture before going so they'd at least have an inkling of what to expect. Voodoo? C'mon, that was being childish.

Family Pedro wasn't much better. Very greedy, especially asking about the TV less than 5 minutes after meeting up. She is a lawyer, she really has no money for things like toiletries, laptops and TVs? Even a small TV, used laptop? When Chantal said she needed a laptop, hers was slow, she could have offered her laptop to MIL and gotten herself a new one instead.

I feel for Chantel. Her family acted immaturely, it almost seemed like Mother Chantel went all the way there to prove to her daughter that Pedro and his family were no good. Also Chantel must be feeling like she's #2 to Pedro, Mother being #1. No, wait Sister Pedro would be #2, Chantel #3. And that is a sucky feeling.

Well, well, well ... Pedro and Chantal finally got super interesting. This culture conflict felt real and intense.

As my screen name denotes, I am also from the islands so I well understand the concept of remittance. I got no problem and have myself sent money, clothing, toiletries, food stuffs, hell even furniture back, but also within what I could afford and not at the expense of me and mine. You'd think that Pedro was a microsoft exec the way he is making it rain.  TVs, computers? He is a frigging dishwasher. Yes, I know he gets TLC checks that we aren't supposed know about but what percentage of that is going towards improving he and his wife's situation? Spending $2500 on a gaming systems? Come on now. Chantal isn't innocent either with wanting a $3500 engagement ring. That also could have went towards an apt which didn't have the bed next to the stove. 

It is funny to me that the chicken feet and necks were the 1st of anything brought out for Family Chantal to eat like that shit was breadsticks at Olive Garden. And neither the mom or sis touched that shit .. shady as hell. His mom and sis are tricking off Pedro. His mom's talmbout he gave up a lot and had a good job before leaving the DR. Well that job wasn't paying for 3 bd apartments, 50 in tvs, ceramic flat irons, and laptops though, right?

Family Chantal were rude to not even get out of the van. Why come 5 hrs and not at least greet his grandmother?  Yes, it was isolated but it wasn't some shack pieced together. It was a house and there was electricity. Voodoo? Really?

Notice how the hotels Jorge are going to now are looking cheaper and dingier. 

Danielle talking shit about anyone's looks ... is just .... no words. NONE!

Danielle and Mo's story is just over and they need to stop beating the dead horse because it is dust right about now.

I blame the mess in the DR directly on Pedro and Chantel:  They didn't help the communication issues.  They made them worse.  They didn't translate well.  That said, Family Chantel and Pedro suck too.  His mother and sister seem like greedy assholes (that tv and laptop were wayyyy too much to ask for at this point), while Chantel's family are acting the parts of ugly ass Americans.  COME ON.  I also don't understand how Chantel lets her family whisper in her ear (esp useless River) and let them disrespect her husband's grandmother.   I'm an island girl...some areas look like that.  They aren't going to murder you.  Calm down, princesses de Chantel.  Y'all probably missed out on a bomb meal from Pedro's abuela.  Pedro, who seems like not a terrible guy, is letting his family manipulate him to play "the man" and that his wife is of lesser importance than them; the attitude and the chicken feet are really some high level game playing.  His sister's "if you want a bigger apartment, move into a bigger apartment" flagged for me.  They aren't paying for theirs, so...take several seats with that shitty attitude.

As much as I dislike Anfisa, I keep reminding myself that droopy Jorge wanted to get him a foreign chick b/c us American girls are all big crazy feminazis.  So homeboy can suffer the karma of Anfisa.  Boy, bye.  But.  I really hope they don't end up on an episode of Snapped or Dateline.

Watching Loren "help" cook and her MIL's subtle digs about her boy not getting good food were amusing.  It felt very normal MIL stuff.  That said, if Alex wants some chicken liver and onions, maybe he should fing cook some.  

I really, really dislike Pao.  She's such a raging bitch.  She isn't that cute.  She isn't that special.  But, more than anything, her attitude is just ugly.  Every single person she has interacted with is using her and I love that everyone is making Russ out to be the heavy.  Not lazy Pao.  Also.  Did she get some boob work done?  They seem bigger.  **looks at Russ's pocketbook**  The other side of the deal is that Russ told us tonight that he takes pride in his wife being a model.  Does he think she is going to model for sweater catalogs?!  In Miami.

Hot take:  The more I see, the more I realize that Dani and Mohammed deserve each other.  They are both real cray and take zero responsibilities for their actions.  They are a mirror for each other and while they say the other is erratic and want to be left alone, both clearly LOVE the drama.  Dani and Mo both have toxic enablers around them (remember Louisa?!) too.  I think Dani is maybe a litttllleee bit crazier.  

The previews for next week look AH-Mazing.  Pao in a terrible swimsuit standing on a stool is going to make my day.

Plastic gloves? I love chicken feet eat them at least twice a month at dim sum, never needed plastic gloves, chopsticks work fine also it didn't appear that hers were barely sauced. Though now I am going to look up recipes for Dominican style chicken feet since I have only had Chinese and Korean versions.

This is what happens when you bone a lifeguard in a poor country.  Complete clash of cultures.  The two of them went for the superficial, the sex, the heat, not thinking at all about how a union would play out.  Most jobs in the Carribbean are tourist based: housekeeping, lifeguards, waitstaff, bartenders, entertainers, tour guides.  "Rich" people go there on vacation, and then go home.  Not to say that unions like this can't work, but usually the clash of cultures is so huge, they don't.  Chantal was utterly naïve in thinking otherwise..  And she can't even verbalize her anger.  She is so immature.  Pedro= I like him.  He saw an opportunity with the hot body, and he took it.  Now he's sleeping next to a stove, kind of like he was in the DR.

Probably. This agent is someone who lost her beauty pagent crown (and was DQ'd from the Miss Florida pageant) because she was involved with the porn industry. I looked it up once a couple of weeks ago and now I can't remember the details. It's on the Internet, though.

I would actually try that. I've never had it and I might not end up liking it, but it looks tasty and I would at least try it. Now, if it were the Philippines and we're talking balut, then that's a whole other story...

I think they are in a rental that's furnished. Could be an air bnb on a weekly rental basis?  Fact is that this isn't their home home.

The problem wasn't the food or the culture. There is a power struggle going on here.

Mother Pedro wants the upper hand and was GREATLY insulted with the fact that Junior (didn't anyone catch that they referred him as Junior) had to sign a prenup.  How does she fight such an insult to her baby boy? By serving the 'stupid Americans' a meal that she wouldn't even eat.
Mother Chantel acted like the 'stupid American' that Mother Pedro was pegging her at.  She figures she's given up a "prize pig" like Chantel and needs to make sure that Pedro treats her like the queen she is.  Pedro sending money back home and seeing how Mother Pedro lives grated on Mom Chantel's nerves.  

I can see Pedro taking back some goodies (i.e. the stuff in the luggage, clothing, etc)  The laptop and big screen tv just grated on my nerves.  No one needs that stuff. And why a 50 inch?  

Russ and Pao - just don't give a crap.

Ugh most of these people are insufferable now.  Even somewhat nice people like Alex's mom still took too many digs on Loren's cooking.  Those beliefs that the wife has to cater to the husband are so annoying and out-dated. 

Pedro and Chantel have so many issues.  I would expect if I married an immigrant that money may be sent home so prior to marriage I would have asked about the plans/expectations of that.   Pedro's relatives do seem like they are using him and he doesn't really see it.  Insulting his family will not get him to recognize the issues and will make him more defensive. The voodoo stuff was pretty offensive and close minded.

The model agent was hilarious.  I bet she thinks she came off well with all the "I don't work for Russ bs" and "Pao will work all month". And then to check her system and work she was supposed to do wasn't done and she brushed it off like "oops my bad hehe".

But here's the thing. Chantal was a bonehead from day one, they should have had a discussion about money and culture long before they got married. I'm not sure who was pushing for the K1 and the marriage, but I got the impression that it was Chantal. Either she was just hot to get married, or Pedro was amazing in the sack. But the two of them never sat down and had a real conversation about expectations, money, family, or culture. That's why you don't jump into marriage, even with immigration issues. I also think that Chantal probably saw 90 Day Fiance and figured it would be a free ride to get her squeeze into teh US and get some TV time for herself.
