Couple of things.  Yeah I agree that Dorinda showed her ass last night but I give her a pass because she has provided me with my favorite phrase. Whenever anyone asks me how I am doing i respond “You wanna know how I am doing? NOT WELL BITCH” complete with hand gesture and up-in-their-grillness.  Ahhhhh it gives me life. That phrase is my spirit animal LOL

It was extra sweet in that she said it to Candace Bushnell.

Did I miss something or did Ramona just make up that Carole dis-invited her solely because of Bethenny?

Yes and we have Luann telling USMag that she was only telling Ramona to be quiet at the dinner table.  That she never said anything bad about B.  I guess she thought we missed her nasty little grin talking about B as an ex porn star.  So it appears that they can all jsut say things and they thing we'll believe them.

And this is why I love Carole:
"But I'm not a musician, or a plumber, or an accountant. I'm a journalist, so my expertise is - information. Oh, I know, I'm not currently working in news right now, so it doesn't count. But a retired doctor is still deferred to when there's a rash in the room. Why is it so hard for my friends to acknowledge I may know more than they do about politics? Why would they know about FOIA requests anyway? That is kind of, sort of, what started the infamous email scandal in the first place. I'm quick to admit the many topics they know more about than I do, like parenting, blood alcohol content, all 245 kama sutra positions."

And this is why I loathe Carole. So condescending. Up until a few years ago I was a SAHM (something Carole looks down upon with complete and utter disdain) and even I know about the FOIA.

Best part of the night was when Carole said it was all girls living there and Bethenny said but Adam is a boy and Carole shrugged. I think it's just an arrangement, to get him exposure and to make her seem desirable, at this point.

ETA: I thought it was interesting that Candace Bushnell was listed as Luann's friend and not Carole's who seems to idolize (and parrot) Carrie.

When Sonja revealed that she had a french lover nicknamed, wait for it, Frenchie (all of Sonja's cosmopolitan yacht party cred incontrovertibly disappeared with that sobriquet), did anyone else think Jacques??? Lu's old beau?

Funny, that is the first thing that popped in my mind! LOL

To me the most telling thing was Carole actually making Bethenny wait for her because she didn't want to leave the party!  I'm sure Bethenny thought Carole would be waiting at the door for her to pull up and come running out, ready to bitch about the lame party and how awful everyone else is.

Carole was absolutely desperate to leave the party. She just asked Bethenny to wait a minute so she could tell Ramona not to come to her election night party and then she was out the door, ready to bitch about the lame party and how awful everyone else is.

I find it amusing that the only thing she's throwing out that makes her far superior is being a journalist at one point and FOIA.  Surely, there must be SOMETHING else that can make us all think WOW, she REALLY knows her stuff

Also, it is possible to be a journalist and not really be an expert on politics.  I haven't heard her say one thing that makes it sound like she knows much about economics, judicial issues, taxes, etc.  I've just heard her use phrases like "Buffoon."  Granted, no one wants to talk to her about politics and they aren't going to get in depth on this.  But if you look at her twitter feed, there's nothing that suggests some deep connected thinker.  She's just someone who passes along NY Times articles and then captions it "Senile old man."

How about the tried and true kitten names, "Hey You" (for kitty 1) and "Who Me?" (for kitty 2)?  Of course, I also refer to the female neighborhood cat who keeps trying to seduce my (male neutered) cats as "Kim Katdashian"...

Beth's TH would have been funny except for the fact what for her two new dog's are named.  Biggsy and Small?  Or whatever.

Yeah, very little of Beth this episode.  Thank you.  Of course we have to have the required scene of Beth talking about the brutality of what she is going through with her ex.  Just shut up Beth about your 'hell' and the other words you have used to describe your divorce, your ex, your parents, your fibroids and all the other things that make you feel you have the hardest life on the face of the earth.

So Adam is moving out?

Dorinda?  What was that?  I get you're mad at Sonja but you don't do that at the dinner table.  Ro was making it nice and you didn't appreciate it.  Wow.

Lu and Dorinda in coordinated outfits.  Gotta love it.

I love Lu's house.  All those spices and stuff out.  Ship lap.  It's relaxed.  Ro's house needs updating and it just looks ugh from the outside.  Hamptons it's not.

Edited to add Beth's blog.  She felt tortured and miserable.  I rest my case:

http://www.bravotv.com/the-real-housewives-of-new-york-city/season-9/blogs/bethenny-frankel/bethenny-frankel-i-have-felt

B looks tortured and miserable, and for a woman who's in her mid 40's she looks 60.

You know- for all everyone's bit**ing about LU, I can completely see her being great fodder of a SATC or Bushnell character. She is a woman who actually seems to enjoy both sex and life. Which is ironic since the others put so much stock in being young, sexy or hip.

What I have to wonder about with Carole is if she was so plugged in why no acknowledgement that things were neck and neck in Fl and Ohio was out of reach. You'd think she would be hitting some issues or the Cmey letter or something. Even funnier since Dorinda has an in with the Clintons. And speaking of that- JOhn Oliver and Dorinda were the WWHL quests last night. Oliver basically said Clinton needs to recede from the spotlight and Dorinda questioned hime with something along the lines of 'she loses and now that's the end?' His response was YES. It was a funny eye into both HRC supporters and real housewives who just want to keep repeating the same arguments over and again. And I say that as someone who did vote for her in the general and obviously knows their way around the RH franchises.

I know it was ugly and not a tight read, but I don't have much of a problem with what Dorinda said to, screamed at, Sonja.   Carole was totally on point, explaining to Tinsley the broader context of Sonja's delusions and inveterate shit-talking, and I wish Ms. Medley had been able to slow her roll, but hot diggity dog, how infuriating is it to have someone smear you publicly and then get smoochy-fakey when they see you?  The FB post linked to upthread contains breathtakingly rude, classist and malicious crap by Sonja about Dorinda.  Who the holy hell is Sonja the fellating restaurant hostess and expert in septuagenarian dong, to sneer that she is "silk" and John and Dorinda are "synthetics?"   At what point are folks allowed to tell her about herself, for real?  She is IMO abusive.  She thinks she can control Tinsley's friendships, LuAnn's wedding, her band of visibly miserable interns.  She can claim to have been pursued by Carole's old boyfriend and LuAnn's almost husband and to be the real BFF of someone extending an invite to Tinsley.  She's a bitch.  A big one.  And she washes her draws in what one must presume is an indifferently scrubbed bum-bum rinser.   How gauche!

I loved Carole this episode.  I'm glad she decided to rid herself of the putty-nosed devil so that her election party wouldn't suffer (even more, as it happened).   And I'm glad Beth is loathe to interact with Ramona.  Invoking Bryn was true lowest of the low stuff.  Honestly this franchise doesn't need Ramona.  Sonja proves amply delusional about her "dates" to suffice.

Dorinda . . WTeverlovingF?  That was BEYOND tacky.  Handle your shit in private.  I would have mortified if I was a guest at this dinner.  Was D high on something?  Coming down off something?   There is no excuse for this fuckery.

I did note Carole's smile during this shit storm.  You know she was wishing she had popcorn for this.  I will have this same expression during the start of next week's show, where we kick off her election party. I honestly cannot wait to see her meltdown.  I am putting this on my calendar to watch live.

Carole - - you can't even attend a dinner party without toasting to the election?  Can you not go anywhere without calling Bethenny?  You name all your pets "Baby" because you like the name?  "Shacking up" is sexy?  Saying that Ramona is a know it all is fucking hilarious.  Pot, meet kettle.  Jesus.

These women are exhausting.

Sure, you don't have to be an expert on politics to be a Jourmalist. But Carole has said that the whole reason she went into Journalism was because of her passion for politics. It's just her thing. Folks can get the sense of her passion by looking at Twitter, which I realize folks think is unhinged, but all you have to do is to look at who she follows to understand how serious she is about trying to know everything. That doesn't make her conclusions or opinions correct, but I think it does mean she is more informed that the average person.  More informed because she is more interested. She just is. Not sure why for folks see that is a slight. I love me some football, but I have zero issue with the notion that I know just the most of the basics and don't dig into the details. Don't know every player on every team.  I'm not listening to sports radio every day (although on some days I do) or paying attention to the odds Vegas puts on the games. I know people who do this, and am happy to allow them to be the experts. I cannot imagine why I would want to proclaim to know as much as they do because I simply don't. Carole may have said all kinds of things that show she is more informed, but I highly doubt Bravo is going to put a lot of that on the show.  They have literally minutes for every interaction, and they are not going to take that time up with policy pronouncements. They just want the drama.

I agree that Lu's house is the one I covet the most.  Whether she pays for it or it comes naturally, her sense of style and decor is on point IMO.  It is definitely cozy and welcoming.  I do like Bethenny's house and the property, but her decor is not my style. Romana's house is just not appealing...the architecture and the decorating is so 80's and 90's.  But so was Romana's wardrobe for too many seasons (royal blue shiny disco dresses, anyone?). And even though Lu's personality is often off-putting, I still think she looks the best and least "facially manipulated" of the bunch.  Sonja is a close second.  Bethenny, Carole and Ramona should stop going to whichever boutique-y uptown clinicians they have on retainer. Unless they can reverse some of the damage work done, just stop. Yikes.

I'm with you, @Ki-in.  I loathe Carole.

I know about FOIA requests.  I work in the legal field.  Doesn't make me an expert.  Doesn't make me the smartest person in the room.

Carole may say in the above quote she "may" know more about politics but there was no "may" in her statement to Ramona.  She said she is/was more informed.  Not maybe or possibly.  She was firm in that.

She's insulting and condescending.

Exactly! Politics seems to be the umbrella word for so many complicated, far-ranging social and economic issues that IMO one person can't be an expert in all of it. Now, what Carole may have some insight into is information gathering tactics in reporting the news .... as a reporter she should be able to read a political story and evaluate a news source as credible to the topic or not, or applicable to the topic or not. But those valuations would still be her opinions.

Also key here: her example of the doctor being "deferred" to regarding the rash. She seems to want her opinions to be weighted more heavily than the other women's and that's where her condescending attitude rears its head. Back in the day, I was a journalist (healthcare was my beat, yawn) and I would say that I probably have a little more insight into all the complicating factors and players involved in the healthcare delivery systems. But I would never expect anyone to defer to me; in fact, whenever healthcare comes up in the news I groan and think "good luck, that is one complicated issue."

Still, Carole's obvious anxiety made me really feel for her. She seems more likable to me this season than before.

Meanwhile, sometimes I feel as if I am the only viewer who dislikes Sonja. I don't think she's beautiful, I feel grossed out looking at her dated townhouse (especially that pink carpet on the stairs that must be from the 1980s) and she pouts way too much. I feel sorry for Tinsley who got stuck living with her. Yes, Dorinda was slightly unhinged going off on her but I think she could have stopped at any time; she was just on a roll. She overdid it in the hopes that Sonja would actually pause the next time she wanted to say anything on a public forum about Dorinda that was unflattering.

Great point, but again, after spending years with Ramona, she knows she isn't interested and doesn't care. It wasn't a shock to Carole when Ramona said she wasn't even going to vote. It's hard to know how Carole might have reacted had she been in a conversation with a knowledgeable person she respected who happened to support Trump. What she gets is a ditzy Ramona who doesn't know anything, but per usual, likes to always believe she knows more than anyone. They are talking about something that is very meaningful to Carole, hence her passion.  And something not meaningful to Ramona, hence her assholeness.

I don't thin Carole let the couch go.  At some point when a couch is used every day, it just happens.  That time comes when the material just has lived it's life in the every day world and the time has come to either reupholster or replace.

Wasn't the upholstery like 50 years old as well (or close to it?)?  I don't think her cats did it.  They were pretty bad off every season.  I LOVED the couch though.  If I had money to burn I would be really tempted to get something like that.

I think Carole is basing this on having been around Ramona for far longer, and in more intimate ways, than any viewer of RHONYC. I mean, before the airing of this season, Ramona was routinely called out for her malapropisms and lack of care for others (which leaned to a conclusion that Ramona is not bright and very self-centered). This was just based on folks watching 48 minute snippets weekly for 12-16 weeks once a year. I'd have to think that Carole's view of Ramona is definitely based on the conclusions many viewers came to over the years times infinity.

That in mind, I think that Carole's comment about being more informed than Ramona is in part about this election (I really don't think that Ramona would know what the hell a FOIA is let alone what it stands for), but also in large part about interactions with her over the course of four years.

Yep, I suspect that the show is not doing her any favors in that regard -- they don't want to show any substantive convos about politics, so they just pull out the snippets where Carole meta-comments about it. I mean, at a dinner party the weekend before the election (especially with people at the table with personal connections to both Hillary and Trump!), it would have been non-stop political discussion. But the show is only showing Carole talking about it, as if she has some special obsession.

I admit I'm seeing all these interactions through my own lens, which is that Ramona has always been a person I could not tolerate being in a room with for 10 minutes under even normal circumstances, much less during election time. She's the walking, talking embodiment of an ignorant facebook comment thread. Carole is actually the stand-in for an awful lot of viewers in the election situation, I think, so it will be interesting to see how the show frames her next week and following the election.

If she has such a passion and knowledge about politics, why isn't she actually doing more than following people on twitter and writing snarky comments that add nothing to the conversation?  Bethenny said she should work for Hillary.  Her response was "Like, move to Washington?" And then dead air when reminded she could actually work for the campaign right there in NYC.  That seemed to be either a novel concept to her or she doesn't care about politics that much.

I personally think Carole overstates her superior knowledge and passion.  For someone who has such driving passion for it, she doesn't really seem to do much that suggests she does anything than read and link articles.  So when seems to lord her former profession over everyone's head and belittle others for their knowledge of politics (and virtually everything they are about). Just like Bethenny pointed out -- she's not having a conversation, she's being an elitist.

I don't blame her for basically telling Ramona she's a fuckwit because she is.   But at the same time, the way she continually reels off her former laurels, it feels like this is something she does on a routine basis.  Maybe it's because she's no longer the respected serious journalist and is just on a crummy reality show.  The way Bethenny reacts to her tells me she is tired of hearing about her former life.  To me, it's like a Dr. who hasn't practiced in 10 years, quits it for whatever reason, and then works in a much lower profession but tells everyone 10 years ago he was a practicing Dr. and then argues with you about what your practicing Dr. diagnoses you with because you know, he was once a Dr.

I think she's just never recovered from the humiliation and her love for Mario.  She's too busy trying to pretend her life is this wonderful festival of suitors and hickies.  It's just a bad look on someone who is 60.  And there is the effort to look like she's the 30 year old Mario left her for looks bad on a 60 year old.  She used to always have her hair done nicely, now it's a long ragged mess.  The over use of fillers on her once well-kept face has given it a strange look.  Being on the show like this just doesn't seem to be working for her right now.

I agree - Ramona, as a single woman, is just sad and desperate.  I think you're right about Mario.  She is trying soooo hard to make everyone think she is this bubbly girl about town, flitting from one date to the other, when in reality, she is probably hiding out in her condo, waiting for her facial mask to harden and hugging her dog.

I also think that if Mario were to come back to Ramona, begging forgiveness and a second chance, she would jump at it in a NY minute.

What's sad to me is she has the perfect opportunity to show the world that you can be a youthful 60 and enjoy your life without a man.  Even though her hair looks like shit, if someone were to give her a makeover, she'd look incredible at 60.  She's got wealth, a great kid, lives in NY.   I get that she's hurting.  She loved her ex.  It's just a shame that she's using the show to get over her humiliation and to try to show Mario she's happy.  She could instead focus on having a wealthy lifestyle, some great friends, some fame, and show the world she isn't desperate for a Mario replacement.

Sonja washing her lingerie in the bidet is odd but I don't think it's horrible or gross.

I could be wrong but she probably washes them in the bidet because they have to be hand washed.  If the bidet is clean and she uses it for nothing but washing her lingerie, (or her face!) what's the big deal?

I mean, some people hand wash their lingerie in the same sink they brush their teeth in....

Nah, Lu is more of a Samantha.  Dorinda was quite unhinged.  It is one thing to get your feelings out so you can move on.  Its another to tear the person apart and beat them with the left over stumps.  While Sonja periodically bugs me and I think she lives in her own little world, she can take a verbal beat down like no other.  Even though I am not a Lu fan she can take that type of stuff as well.  Loved Glenn and his comments/toast.

I was a fan of Carol's for a nano-second when she first came on.  It didn't last long.  As a crazy cat-lady myself, however, she hooked me back in last night.  The cats were beyond adorable - and watching her with them was the same.

I am also enjoying her passion for the elections.  I do, very much, like that she cares as much as she does.

I have a question.

Which is more tattered, disgusting, ripped and gross? Carole's couch or Sonja's underwear?

Sonja's underwear.

Dorinda said on WWHL last night that the couch is from when Carol was with her husband.  I can't pick on that.

Wasn't the upholstery like 50 years old as well (or close to it?)?  I don't think her cats did it.  They were pretty bad off every season.  I LOVED the couch though.  If I had money to burn I would be really tempted to get something like that.

Well, if it's true that Carole has gotten rid of the couch, you may have been lucky to have found it on the street outside her apartment, or in the dumpster behind the building.  I know that some people furnish their own apartments that way, and some have been lucky to find unwanted treasures/antiques.

Sonja: "But Cinemax is great! That's a top shelf program."  Does Sonja actually know what Cinemax is??

I "watched" the show rater than watching the show, as I was busy doing a ton of other things while it was on, so I didn't even notice that Candace Bushnell was at the dinner.  I think the last photo of her I saw was her wedding announcement, so I didn't even recognize her when I went back and looked again. Wonder if we'll see more of her?

I find it hilarious but I also named my dogs Sausage and Biscuit.  LOL.

I never make fun of animal names.  They mean something to whoever does the naming.  Your dog names are great!

I found it amusing as well. I have a cat named A. Purr. My previous pets were a dog and cat named Pancakes and Waffles, so I was with you on the food theme. Who am I to judge? I do not care what people name their pets. My friend who was a Doctor Who fan named her pets whatever number the doctor was and his companion at the time. I do not mind people using the same name over and over. I do find Carole's three pets all named Baby a bit ridiculous, but overall I do not care.

I really do not care about Carole's couch. If she wants to keep it because it has sentimental value because of her late husband that is fine with me, and if she doesn't I am cool with that too.

And thank god for that!

I'm watching.  One of my favorite moments in the renovation of the Tribeca place was when the designer showed Bethenny a $50K armoire that they suggested she gut and rebuild it to house her Skinny Girl bar.  She felt that no one in there right mind should pay $50K for a piece of furniture.  The faces on these two women who had obviously thought this was their big pay day was priceless.

I posted an interview at the beginning of the season where Carole talked about working for a get out the Vote organization. She also said that we would see her doing that work, going door to door, because those segments were filmed. I am sure she was disappointed that we didn't seen them, because they probably gave more context to what she was doing. But clearly, Bravo was aware that folks only wanted to see so much of the election stuff. She said in the interview that she was probably driving production crazy because in the first few weeks of filming, she could concentrate on nothing else.

Gotcha.

I think my bias about Carole is that it's hard for me to continue to take her seriously as a journalist because she's now on a crummy reality show.  I respect what she has done in the past and I enjoyed What Remains.   I actually liked her a lot when Heather was on the show.  I just kind of wish she'd with either accept the fact she's on a crummy reality show and embrace it.  I feel like in the beginning, she was sort of winking at us all and it seemed obvious she was using it to pimp her books.  But now it feels like she's still winking at us like she's above it all but she needs the paycheck.  I doubt she is anywhere close to as well off as those silly websites estimate.

Sonja provides amply delusional about her "dates" to suffice.

I don't have a problem with Dorinda's take down either, although I don't believe Dorinda was sober or even mostly sober.  Sonja is the kind of person who needs to be bonked on the head to get their attention.  Subtlety is not going to work with Sonja as she would just brush off any kind of veiled criticism.  Dorinda read her right and let her have it with both barrels.  Of course, not being sober she veered into slut shaming among other nonsense but overall it was the right idea.

Luann seems mellow and happy and I'm happy for her.  I also respect her for not inviting the hws to the wedding where they would no doubt have made a scene or otherwise been unpleasant.

So Bethany obviously doesn't want to be on the show.  Fine, leave!  Don't do me any favors Bethanny!  I think the only reason she does the show is some sort of contractual marketing obligation to keep Skinny Girl front and center and if she can get that with a spin off with Frederic she should go for it.  Somehow I doubt it though.  She has had multiple shows and has proven that she can't carry one by herself and I think the same is probably true of Frederic.

It's funny she mentions parenting specifically because at the lunch where Ramona and Bethenny blew up, Carole voiced an opinion that kids would not confront Bryn on the playground with gossip about Bethenny and Ramona said something like, Well, you aren't a parent so you don't know the kinds of awful things kids do.  And Carole got very, very bucky that Ramona would say Carole couldn't have an opinion because she is not a mother and that she found that very offensive.

It's almost like people don't appreciate being excluded from a conversation happening in front of them because they are considered unqualified to voice their opinion...

Even more shocking to me than Dorinda's meltdown (so much for making it nice) was Luann's TH comment at the first of the episode that Tinsley would be bringing men to Sonja's home,  to a bedroom full of stuffed animals. Like it was the most natural thing in the world to bring strange men to the home of your hostess, who has been gracious enough to give you a place to stay. Then I remembered that Lu did that when she stayed at Sonja's. I wonder if there is a chapter on that in Class with the Countess?

So I was further shocked at the end of the episode to find that Tinny has done just that. WTF is wrong with these women? If you are staying at the home for wayward socialites and pick up some random guy you want to bang (and apparently is homeless as well) spring for a friggin' hotel room. Sheesh.

Dorinda's meltdown was something else, if only because it was in front of so many guests that have nothing to do with the HWs. I have a feeling Dorinda may have been taken off a few lists. And that was sober? Yikes. I didn't mind though that it happened at Ramona's party - no one deserves that kind of disrespect more that Ro.

The whole Dorinda meltdown was kind of lost on a lot of us because it's never really revealed what Sonja was saying about her. It would have been a lot more interesting if we knew what Dorinda was so pissed about. That story line was poorly executed by production.

This is why I think Dorinda was in more control then she appeared. She was being very careful to not give voice to the things that Sonja was reported to have said. And though I thought she definitely lost the high road because of how very low she was going, I did think she was being smart to not actually name the things being said. If she says them, then they just get that much closer to being believed. Dorinda couldn't be specific as to which FB post she was talking about because of this.
