Now, my Catholic family would've laughed and asked where they could find one for themselves!

Saw lots Jill and her boys (faces included). At one point she is standing outside next to Joe who is holding a baby and Kendra beside him.  One of the lost girls was holding a pretty young baby in several shots. I think Austin's family outnumbered the Duggars in attendance.  Of course Jana helped with the reveal, the dart thing was kind of convoluted.  Joy really seems happy with her life.

His sister is usually knocked up.

One sister just had a baby, like, two months ago. The other one (the half sister with all the A kids) could potentially be pregnant again, though she tends to space them more (and she's in her early 40's now, so maybe the baby train can grind to a halt?).

So pregnancy clotting disorders may not happen for each pregnancy? Everything seemed fine with Giddy. Then they lost Annabelle. They saw a high risk specialist with Evvie, which turned out to be an uneventful pregnancy. And now the clotting disorder.

you can have any number of wacky bad mutations, and when both copies of that gene have the mutation, your risks of clots and other complications go way up. On the other hand you may go through like with one copy of Factor V Leiden and have no problems popping out four kids and having several serious surgeries and never have a problem, like my mom. When I was preggers in 2000-2001 I learned (due to a sister learning about it after two miscarriages) I had FVL. Just one gene affected. Still had to give myself heparin shots 2x/day.  Gave me MAD RESPECT for anyone who has to give themselves shots all the time. These days I think they may just do baby aspirin if there is no history of clots or other mutations.

I will say my sister and I got a kick out of calling each other mutants.

She better pray she don’t get diabetes. Or is Austin going to be administering all Joys medications. She has 2 kids and can’t give herself injections?

I see them using Ephraim or Elijah.

It’s not unusual for husbands to do the shots during pregnancy. Chad and Evan did. It helps the spouse be part of the pregnancy.

Austin is such a dick and so is his father.

For starters, the haircut looks amazing and you could tell Joy felt like a million bucks when she left the salon. Poor thing just wanted her husband to say something nice and the most he could muster was a half-hearted "I don't hate it" followed by "it's short." Then to add insult to injury, he reveals his father ruined the surprise. Great guy 🙄.

I feel like it's these little microagressions that keep women "in their place" in the fundie world. They're not allowed to feel cute with a new haircut. You could tell Joy was so excited and visibly crestfallen when Austin was a dick about it.

I agree. People think Austin is one of the more supportive Fundie husbands, but apparently that's only as long as Joy follows his playbook. The second she made an independent choice, he negged her into oblivion. Even Austin's father ruining the surprise felt deliberate like, "ain't no woman gonna hide something from my son!." Tired or not, they're horrible people.

I didn't watch the video. I have a question - was it so bad, Joy was stupid to post it?

She kept basically asking him to say he liked it. At one point he said it should be (drew a line on her back) about a half inch longer. Weird. Maybe he was mad that she hadn't told him first. She should tell him to shave off that beard.

If she (or dad) hadn't mentioned the hair I wonder if he would have even noticed. Do men notice when women go from long to less long?

We've all seen the sitcoms where the man doesn't notice that the wife has gone from long to pixie cut.🤣

I think he would’ve noticed. There are social circles of men that are very particular about hair and what it means for a woman’s femininity and attractiveness.

“I don’t hate it.” Is rude as hell though. Given Joy was excited about it, even if Austin wasn’t a fan he should’ve said “You look so happy babe”(or something along those lines)

That explains why Jana's hair is kept at a reasonable length and nicely trimmed. No hubby to tell her what to do.
