Barry continues to train Jesse and when a new meta human, Mirror Master, appears on the scene he lets her tag along. But she defies one of Barry's orders, which leads to disaster. Meanwhile, Mirror Master teams with his old partner, Top, and looks to even a score with Snart.

"Oh my God, I'm like Oliver!" You know how you're not like him Barry?  He wouldn't go back to change the timeline!

Goodbye, Harry.  It's been...surreal.  Bonjour HR!  (I was sort of holding out for the mime version.)

Nice to see Wentworth in special guest star/series status again.  And that Jessie is learning her powers.  And that Caitlin may have to reveal herself sooner or later. Villian of the week though was kind of dull for me though.

But hey!  Barry is finally getting his own place because it's the CW and the bow chick wow wow was supposed to happen ages (or timelines ago.) And==

Above all, I didn't hate this episode this week.  Still a bit clunky but a lot better than the rest of the season for me.

I'll assume they're going to verify HR's trustworthiness next week because otherwise that is one incredible leap of faith they're taking by bringing in a genius level intellect who could easily turn out to be villainous.  You know, like the first guy whom they all trusted before he revealed himself as Barry's archenemy.

On the plus side, communicating with other Earths is now apparently a piece of cake.  Presumably they'll figure out a way to get Supergirl to crossover when the time comes.

Ha. I was thinking the exact same thing. Finally, Barry and Iris can have sex like normal people.

Joe was ridiculous not agreeing to go out with that gorgeous woman who is way too young for him. Maybe he was worried he would not have the stamina to keep up with her, but there is always Viagra.

I thought it was the best episode of the season. Caitlyn coming into her powers was great. She is going to have fess up soon.

If it wasn't for Barry trying to find his own place, I can imagine him, Joe and Wally tearfully whacking it in separate rooms. And then Caitlin could cool 'em down.

I'm good with Mirror Master and his girlfriend, a female Top. At least she doesn't have the Silver Age version's fashion sense. Or weaponized tops. Had a laugh that the Grant Morrison-created MM exists on Earth-2.

Not sure how to feel about Hipster Dork Wells. I'd like to know how Country-Western Wells passed the first test. Would've been funny to see a Wells from a gender-swapped Earth, but I'm thinking the producers were all, "We don't wanna put Tom in a wig, do we?" As for Harry? Maybe he and Jesse can visit Earth-Kara, and we'd get some superpowered lady times.

I thought Caitlin was incapable of having powers. How does Barry mucking with time change that? I mean, I'm thinking that maybe John Diggle Jr. was conceived on a different day than Sara, but I'm not "getting" how we can get Killer Frost. I like Caitlin before that, even with the crappy taste in guys.

Anybody else miss Wentworth Miller? It's the delivery as Snart that makes things work.

You can thank Alchemy for that.  Caitlin was just starting to discover her powers in the alternate timeline when Barry re-set everything by allowing his mother to be murdered again.  Alchemy, for reasons that are yet to be revealed, seems to want to re-create every metahuman who existed in that alternate timeline, which is why Caitlin has gained powers and why it's also believed that Wally will eventually gain them.

Now THAT was a fun episode.  No "Barry caused the problem" episode.  Just a fun episode with them catching a fun crook.

Liked Mirror Master and his cool power (I remember Grey Damon for the final season of Friday Night Lights).  The mirror thing is awesome.  I liked Top a lot too although she reminded me a lot of Jennifer Lawrence in appearance (I said that about another actress recently).  Of course it would have been simpler if Jesse had just knocked her out the moment she confronted her again but she seems to have Barry's penchant for figuratively ****-swinging in front of criminals.  I like Jesse too and Jesse Quick.

Barry's stupid is rubbing off on the rest of the team if they think that seeking out other Harrison Wells and bringing them to their Earth is a great idea.  Still, I was entertained by the alternate Wells and wouldn't mind seeing a scene like that again.

Caitlin concealing her powers for no good reason is dumb too but I'm excited that she finally has them.

Nice to see Snart back again.

Eh.

Good things:

1. Caitlin coming into her powers. That bodes well, if not for her major upcoming plumbing bill.

2. YAY, Captain Cold is back, even if just in a flashback and not actually Cold. At least he was there.

3. I cracked up at the various Harrison Wellses. That was fun.

4. I don't want to get too excited about this, but we did get a couple of new location shots this week, suggesting - just suggesting - that Flash may have decided to explore Vancouver a bit more. Of course, then they all ended up back at warehouse but it was a nice moment.

5. And if I counted correctly, we had three women metahumans in this episode - Caitlin, Jesse and Top - the same number as the men - Barry, Cisco and Mirror Master - which is a tremendous improvement over previous seasons. Yay!

6.  And also yay, finally an episode where both saving Barry and getting the bad guys did not involve someone just saying, "Run, Barry, Run!" I mean, yes, he still ran, but for once Flash tried to add a bit more to that.

7. Barry: "I'm turning into Oliver." Heh. Not really, Barry, but glad to hear you're finally thinking a bit strategically at last.

Questionable things:

1. Given that Caitlin's about to have to pay some very expensive repair bills, I forgot: did we ever find out how or if she's earning a salary?

2. Are we really going to have a new Wells every single season, and if so, how many variations on "Harrison" and "Wells" can this show come up with?

3. Seriously, Team Flash, your first Wells turned out to be evil. This Wells has a hat, and you're going to trust him on the basis of less than five minutes of conversation and a desire for Big Belly Burger?

4. Wally, start of the episode: Jesse, I can't kiss you because, you know, you're from another earth, although since you seem to have no problems bouncing back and forth into this one, not sure why this is a problem.

Wally, middle of the episode: Ok, ignore my previous dialogue.

5. Also making questionable romantic decisions: Joe! She's cute! She asked you out to dinner! You're making your kids feel uncomfortable anyway! Go out with her!

6. Flash, maybe pushing the reminders that both Barry and Iris see Joe as a father is not the best way to start out this relationship, if you wanted to reduce the quasi-incest accusations.

7. Barry is getting his own apartment? Does that mean - does that really mean that he's getting a new set? Because if he moves into Laurel or Diggle's apartments, I will warn you all now I am going to BURST into tears.

8. I know it's tricky to portray vertigo on screen, but....that wasn't the best way to portray it, show.

9. So, has Oliver not updated Barry on what's up with Team Legends this season - which would presumably include the little fact that Heatwave failed to list Captain Cold among the missing members of Team Legends when Oliver visited the Team Legends Time Ship a couple episodes ago? Come on, Oliver! I know you are not particularly great at the communication, but we have enough continuity problems among these shows without you adding to them by failing to keep Team Flash up with the latest gossip!

Bad things:

1. I'd ask what all the stuff about absolute cold was about, but, this show.

2. Sigh. For a couple episodes there, I had hope that Iris was going to get to do something other than just be Barry's love interest. And then, this episode, where her entire plot role was to discuss her role as Barry's love interest and joke about her jeans. Come on, Flash.

3. Not fond of either Mirror Master or Top, as actors or characters.

Loved seeing Snart!

I just can't get behind Barry and Iris, especially when they point out how Joe's dad to both. When the initial interrupting kissing was happening, Barry was going to say "he's our dad." They both grew up together in the house and it does feel like Barry's leaving is all of a sudden just because of the love interest plot.

Like seeing Caitlyn coming into her powers and Wells knowing something was up.

Caitlyn will go bald if she keeps cutting off chunks like that when it goes ice blond.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure I understand why Caitlin is hiding her powers. Barry has powers. Cisco has powers. Jesse has powers. She knows it's not a big deal. Her doppleganger was evil (so was Cisco's) that doesn't mean she will be. Unless, of course, she decides to start flash freezing and shattering people because they piss her off. Speaking of her powers, how did she manage to shoot ice out of her hands and freeze the mirror without Barry noticing?

Mirror Master worked better than I would have expected. Top, though, I agree with benteen, I was a bit distracted by the fact she looked sort of like a discount Jennifer Lawrence. No offense meant to either actress. But while having the ability to travel through any reflective surface would be useful, especially for a thief, making people dizzy (particularly when you have to stare into their eyes for a bit) isn't.

Snart! I missed you. Come back soon.

I actually liked Mirror Master..his sidekick not so much.  I am so tired of any version of Wells, can we move on from that? I would rather have the Pied Piper. Caitlyn is boring no matter what.

Why couldn't Wally go to Earth 2?

What is strange is that at one time Joe was encouraging Barry to go after Iris.  Did they forget that?  So, we are to believe that  Joe had not considered that if Barry and Iris got together they would be intimate or affectionate?

I thought Barry had his own place before at one point?  So, why would it be strange for him to move out again?

"Discount Jennifer Lawrence,"  I love it!

So...I have a feeling that I might not like Dorky Harrison Wells from Earth-19. HR is...odd, to put it mildly. I guess I got way used to the Harry/Eobard that we've seen the last two seasons. Plus, I'll really miss Harry and Jesse. I hope it doesn't work out with HR and Harry/Jesse comes back. At least Tom got to have fun this episode with his Many Versions of Wells.

I really liked Jesse/Wally, so I have to assume that her and Harry will be back, hopefully in a regular capacity.

I enjoyed Mirror Master and Top quite a bit. They were a lot of fun, and a supervillain couple is always fun to watch. Too bad we only got minimal Snart and mostly in flashbacks.

I like Iris/Barry, so they really need to get over the awkwardness soon. At least Iris is getting something more to do; I enjoyed her calling an impromptu family meeting. But hopefully she gets more than the love interest role.

I don't get why Caitlin's lying about her powers, but I also get it. This show loves its secrets and since they spilled Cisco's Vibe secret fairly quickly last season, they probably want to drag out Caitlin's. It's stupid, but whatever. I'm actually enjoying Caitlin's arc because it doesn't involve a guy whatsoever. Thanks, show! I'll take what I can get!

Damn, Joe, don't turn down Cecile! You go, man!

Grey Damon (who I mainly know as Shafe on the dearly departed Aquarius) was pretty solid as Mirror Master, and the actress playing Top was fine, although she really did look like Jennifer Lawrence.  Still, the highlight of all that stuff was Snart.  Snart in the flashback.  Snart as a holograph. Barry trying to find the best way to explain where Snart was.  I miss Snart.  Hopefully he'll be popping back up more in the DC shows soon.

The gang finding a new Harry is an obvious way to keep Tom Cavanagh around, since they really can't keep current Earth 2 Harry around, unless they find some reason for it to not be safe for him anymore.  But I'm not sure what to make of his Harry... or "H.R."  Really, with that silly hat of his, he's already "Hipster Harry" to me.  I do wonder what actual Harry wanted to say before he got zapped out.

I'm slightly surprised that Wally didn't just go to Earth 2 with them.  I, mean, sure, he will have to leave behind his family, school, and everything, but did you see how Jesse looks in that suit?!  It would be hard to turn down Violett Beane for more Joe time.

I want to root for Barry/Iris, but having a storyline that focuses so much on the awkward relationship between Barry, Iris, and Joe is not the way to go.  Maybe Barry finally moving out will finally tone down that shit.

How much longer can Caitlin hide her powers, I wonder?

Why in the hell is Joe turning down a date with this Ceclie?  You are hopeless, Joe!

Best episode this season so far, although I wouldn't be surprised if Wentworth Miller's perfect smirk alone elevated it a letter grade.

Not a huge fan of Mirror Master but Grey Damon is attractive and looks great in a suit. I liked Top's skirt. Not great rogues.

Barry's little "I'm like Oliver " was cute enough that I won't list all the reasons he was wrong. There was obvious fondness there. He just wants to be a good superhero mentor.

I get Caitlin being scared about her powers, given her meta doppelgänger tried to kill her, but I want her to trust Cisco and Barry. She's been there every step of the way for their powers,  they'll do the same for her.

Carlos Valdes and Tom Cavanagh have great timing and chemistry. Love them.

I don't recall anything in the alternate timeline Barry created by saving his mom that said Caitlin was getting powers.  She was just the pediatric eye doctor that Barry kidnapped.  Did I blink and miss a scene?  If not, Alchemy wouldn't have anything to do with it.

I did not buy that Caitlin's first instinct was to cut our a big chunk of her hair.  What girl does that?  And in the front as well?  First you try to dye it, then you move on to more drastic solutions if needed.

I liked Mirror Master and Top in that they were a different kind of villain than we'd seen before.

Happy Barry is getting his own place.  VERRRRRY happy.  Way to make it so much more awkward than it had to be.  I would have been so much happier NOT concentrating on their siblingesque history as they were making out thank you.

About Wally and Jesse, he can't go to E2...yet.  First he has to get his powers and risk going evil.  Then once they get tired of having him on the show, they will ship him over to E2.

I think the first paragraph Scott Von Doviak's review of this episode from The AV Club summed up best why I liked this episode so much.

Quote

“The New Rogues” is a treat for those of us who fell in love with The Flash during its first season and spent much of the second worrying the show might never pull itself out of its funk. It’s the most giddily entertaining hour of the series in ages: light on its feet and overflowing with humor, adventure, and Silver Age goofiness. The glum tone of the Zoom era, which persisted into the first couple of third season episodes, has now been left in the dust.

I had not thought about Flashpoint changing Joe's perspective.  It is almost like the read all the comments that some fans make and decided to make that come true.  They need to fix Flashpoint quickly!

Is Iris living at home?  Wasn't she living there before Barry's father was killed?  All this time traveling and different time lines is annoying to me, not exciting.

I thought it was strange that Caitlyn cut her hair.  You would think the instinct would be to dye it because if it keeps changing, what are you going to do, keep cutting it out?

Any idea if and when they are going to reverse Flashpoint.

Iris hadn't spoken to Joe for a year, so it's safe to assume to she moved out when her mother showed up alive and she learned Joe had been lying to her.

As for Caitlyn, she's obviously scared and acting on instinct.  Her fist thought it to get rid of it.  Immediately.  Out of sight, out of mind.  She's not thinking rationally.

I am amused by the idea of a different iteration of Harrison Wells every season.  Plus it means more Tom Cavanagh.

I, too, wondered why the heck Caitlyn didn't use hair dye, especially if it's not the first time it happened.  She cut it at an odd spot, too. And missed a clump.  Possibly I'm thinking too much about this.

Yes, and I just know he will turn out to be evil because he is from an alternate universe and none of the geniuses on Team Flash considered that as a possibility after seeing ample evidence of it.

Barry, you should get your own place not because you are dating Iris but because that is what adults with decent jobs do.  And one you move out, no going over to Joe's to wash your Flash suit. Get your own washer and dryer.

Iris, you are next now that you have a real job and are over Eddie's death.

I suspect that they do intend to fix everything or at least most of it. I expect that Alchemy will somehow restore the timeline by the end of the season.

I can buy this first time Caitlyn panicking and cutting her hair irrationally, but I cannot buy it twice.

Why would you be worried about one Wells being evil...especially after you've sent out a message to the entire frickin multiverse.   I mean just put a damn neon sign on Earth-1 saying 'Hey!  Come invade us.  We're a bunch of dumb fucks!'   These people are more worried about alt-Well's accent and clothing (well, not so much the later since they picked one with a hipster douche hat) rather than if he can be trusted or not.

I'm not understanding this whole all other Harrison Welles must be evil because the first one was. Why? Because the first season Harrison Welles wasn't the real Harrison Welles. He was Eobard Thawne. Thawne just stole the real Harrison's DNA...and from the little we saw of the real one, he wasn't a douche or bastard.

Now, onto watching the episode. I admit, I got distracted rewatching the first season, and it makes me cry, because that was so good, and light and funny, and we got gloom and doom last season.

And this season just fucked up everything.

TC grates lately. HR is as annoying as the stupid plot line.

Why doesn't Caitlin buy some hair dye? Cutting off random chunks of hair isn't a good look.

Good episode. Mirror Master is my favourite and the casting was spot on. Top was alright. I don't see how she looks remotely like JLaw other than the blond hair.

Since I've been the one complaining about the chaste kisses between Barry and Iris, I'll give credit where credit is due. That was some very good kissing from them in that makeout scene, lol. Probably the best I've seen Grant kiss anyone on this show ever, so kudos to him on that.

Whatever gave you that idea? They've made it abundantly clear that is never going to happen. She gets to be useful on the rare occasion, but when she's not Barry's love interest she doesn't exist in the narrative. She doesn't even have a room or her own living space, and even Patty got that much.

Because Flash showed her working at her job and doing some research; she was the one who figured out that Magenta would be targeting her father last week.

That's what I want to see more of. Not this week's Iris, who was just left to keep Mirror Barry entertained while the rest of the cast went off to do things. I admit that I don't have much hope of seeing "Not Just a Love Interest Iris" on a frequent occasion, but I'd like to keep some hope.

I'd still take Barry over Oliver...

Oliver is:

1. Manwhore who needs checked for STDs due to his past and sleeping with everything that moved.

2. Cheater who cheated on Laurel with not only her sister but cheated on her with someone he impregnated. Oh and he proceeds to sleep with her sister later on too going for a second round right in front of Laurel's face.

3. Liar in general.

4. Flat out murderer with his own two hands.

5. Was so upset over the drama with Felicity in that crossover, he literally gets all of them killed and the irony? Barry had to time travel to save Oliver from killing them all! Time travel saved what Oliver did there but that's conveniently forgotten that Barry saved the day.

Funny how people forget this stuff.

Barry could go ahead and time travel and screw things up again and it still wouldn't be as bad as what Oliver
Queen is all about.

*grabs calendar and starts writing*  "Marking this date down;  an episode of The Flash aired without anyone shedding a single tear.  The presses were literally stopped."

-  So will the S1 pattern hold, meaning we're going to get two to 3 more episodes of these 'new rogues' this season?  Thanks, but I'll pass Show.  I didn't mind the meta-powers, but the actors left me quite underwhelmed.

-  No Malfoy?  Well, if that doesn't bugger all.

-  I don't know any spoilers - which I prefer, in case anyone's wondering or wants to provide an answer based on them - but here's to hoping they leave Caitlin on the good side with her powers.  Making her KF is just too predictable and cliche...... which means, most likely what will end up happening.

-  New HW.  HW-19??  Not. A. Fan.  Maybe time will change my tune, but at first sight, just absolutely not.

-  One thing I am a huge fan of?  Barry moving out so he and Iris can get their groove thang on without giving Joe a show.  That's been a long time coming... like since the moment Barry woke up from his SpeedForce coma that kicked off the series.

I will continue to love this show no matter how many times Barry screws up because of episodes like tonight, when the team gets to have fun and work together. I just love the chemistry between everyone, especially Harry and Cisco and Barry and Joe. Cisco trying to out-nickname Harry was hilarious. I'm sad that hipster Harry won't have the same rapport with Cisco.

I finally get my Jessie and Wally and she's back on earth 2. Damn it! At least Barry and Iris kissed longer than 2 seconds. I liked their talk while he was in the mirror and admitting he's afraid to finally have it all. Grant continues to kill it.

I wish Caitlin just told everyone the truth before Alchemy tries to take her to the dark side.

I miss you Snart. Hope he's featured more in flashbacks, though him possibly being on Arrow will not bring me back to that crappy ass show.

I really liked this episode.  It was a much needed breath of fresh, fun air.  There were no tears, no recriminations, and no attempted time travel so a win in my book.  I'm so glad we are getting to see Iris and Barry be a normal couple.  I especially loved their last scene together with the kiss and Iris' teasing reaction.  I've personally never had a problem with them being raised together because it's never been portrayed to us as a sibling relationship imo.  I think Joe would have a problem with Iris making out with anyone in front of him, look how he acted when she was with Eddie.  That's just normal parent/child awkwardness.  Joe also  happens to be a smidge overprotective of Iris.  I believe that Barry moved back in with Joe after his coma, I don't think it had anything to do with flashpoint.

I love Wally and Jesse, they are so adorable.  I really wish that Jesse and Harry could just stay on earth one indefinitely, like the team I feel like something is missing when they're characters are not around.  I'll reserve judgement on HR, he seems chill for now.

As for Caitlin, I think maybe it's been so long since she had the powers and hasn't shared that maybe she feels like she can't now, if that makes sense?  She's very timid sometimes but clearly her powers are starting to grow beyond her control so it might be time to share with the rest of the team.  And also why did she cut her hair like that?!? That's why hair dye exists.

Top is a terrible nickname for a metahuman -- they may as well have called her 'Dreidel', as it also spins, or the even the more blatantly obvious 'Vertigo' since she caused vertigo.  They could have even used some U2 lyrics to sell it (Hello, hello).

And since it appeared she needed direct eye contact to induce her power, you would have thought that they would have whipped up some sort of eye protection (since guards would have had to have worn something to protect themselves from her while she was incarcerated in Iron Heights).

And I didn't quite understand Mirror Master's powers -- I get that he could move in and out of mirrors and reflektive surfaces, but what was the deal with the vortices when he was traveling along the surface of that building ?

I liked this ep.  It was fun.

The actors who played the villains were underwhelming, but Barry seemed to be the only on who really cared about them, so it is fitting.

I loved Joe's reaction: "You're a grown ass man it is about time you moved out." LOL.

So the pretty DA hit on Joe, Jessie kissed Wally and of course Barry and Iris are kissing all over the place. The romantic prospects of the entire West family were looking good this ep.  Now if Joe would just catch what pretty DA is throwing.

My head hurts trying to figure out at what point this timeline got split from the original that would give Caitlin powers that she did not have in the original timeline?  Is it at the point where Flash Barry goes back to save Nora from reverse Flash?  Because I can't tell how that would affect Caitlin since the particle accelerator already happened before the split point.  Or is it unlike the others from the second timeline where they just dream about their powers, hers actually jumped over and manifested?

Anyway... this was my favorite ep of the season so far.

Top was alright. I don't see how she looks remotely like JLaw other than the blond hair.

To me, she looks astonishingly like Michelle Williams, back when she played Jen on Dawson's Creek.
