We have to remember the fact that there are some people who no matter what treatment or punishment they get it won't work. So even if he gets 20 years in prison he will not be a changed Smuggar. He will continue to do what he wants.

That's true, but we'll never know if he had been given real help early on if things would have changed.  Possibly, and possibly not.  The fact is that his parents didn't even give him (or his sisters) a chance.  It's so sad.

Has anyone fact checked her on that? I'm really side-eying the claim that a federal judge is handling their civil case, which makes me think it is bullshit.

Edited to add: Apparently it's a federal lawsuit. I stand corrected!

Yes, but that seems like a huge conflict.  I can't see a judge being on cases so closely related.  It doesn't seem right to me.

edit: I see this was mentioned. We also can’t forget that food drive for the homeless, where the food was taken back as soon as filming was over.

And THAT pissed me off so much! That made me want to line them all up and punch them in the throat. And I am not a violent person at all.

I just re watched it on YouTube it’s s12e03 “Farm Fresh Duggar’s”

Jim Bob only takes the boys over to watch him shove his arm up a pregnant heifer and while he’s digging around up inside her he’s giving the boys a sex lesson grinning and smirking as he tells them “that’s where babies come from” and the boys are all snickering and talking about their dads sex lessons... John David is the oldest boy along with all the younger ones watching JB with their eyes bugging out..... giggling and laughing about their dad shoving his whole arm up her hole 😑

earlier in the episode we see a married Josh kissing his kids and Anna goodbye as he goes off to diddle a prostitute ooops I mean goes to work 🙄

the girls aren’t allowed to view the sex lesson .. it’s only for the boys...the girls go tend to the chickens in their skirts and weed a garden or something with Michelle

Wow. Poor cow. I wish that poor cow would have just up and kicked JB in his little marble sack, what a pervert to act that way while probably hurting that poor innocent cow. So JB equates the cow as being the same as his wife, wonder how she felt about it at the time!

I'm not sure why you quoted me.

I don’t know why you quoted my original post, I’m well aware that reality shows have scripting...I don’t know why you felt the need to tell me that.

My post was asking if anyone else had seen the episode I was trying to remember....my question had absolutely nothing to do with scripting.

I’ve removed your quote

I've been holding Boobchelle's feet to the fire for years for their failures. If still may have been more nature than nurture, but they never gave him a fighting chance to get better.

And when he cheated? Send him off to Jesus Camp for 6 months. He just learned more platitudes to spout to lull his wife and parents into thinking he'd been cured. If anything, his sociopathy got even worse as he further compartmentalized his life.

Oh, thanks for clarifying. They’re more like coprisoners at this point.

Mrs. Reber is, but I don't think Mr. Reber's life has changed much even with Sex Pest there. I feel sorry for her, since it was obvious at the hearing she did not want to have the creep in her home but The Asshole Man of the House hath spoken and so it would be.

I wonder if they really thought he's been cured though. He did have that monitoring program on his computer at the car lot. Was that there just as a precaution, or because they still had a concern? If they did have a concern, I hope they thought it was just adult/regular porn he was interested in and didn't know about the kid stuff and didn't do anything about it.

No doubt that Josh is a sexual predator, but I wonder if he's a true pedophile in the sense that children are his true and only 'interest'. Or in hindsight are we seeing an escalation of a need for more and more deviant sexual experiences.

But either way Josh has, and is, a problem. If he gets 10 years behind bars he'll only be in his 40s when he gets out. That's scary because that leaves a lot of years for Josh to prey on more victims.

Bingo.  What are his compulsions?   I wonder if as part of his sentencing he will be required to have an assessment to identify exactly that along with his propensity to reoffend -- and will he be required to participate in treatment, during and after incarceration?

It's not so much with an idea that he can be "cured", rather a truly watchful set of eyes on him that cannot be sloughed off with any of his smug tactics because those eyes will have seen and heard it all before.

What I wonder about Josh are the years from age 15 until he married Anna and the years from around 2015 until 2019, when he was raided. Filling in those gaps would tell us a lot more about him. I also wonder what Josh knew about himself and/or thought about himself.

What we know is in and around 2003 Josh molested his sisters, in and around 2013 Josh was on Ashley Madison and around 2019 he was viewing CSA. We can also add that he tried to protect Jacob's abuser and also a telling scene from when Josh, Anna, JB & M were checking out the Dillard's McMansion.

No doubt that Josh is a sexual predator, but I wonder if he's a true pedophile in the sense that children are his true and only 'interest'. Or in hindsight are we seeing an escalation of a need for more and more deviant sexual experiences.

Don’t forget what went on in DC. He was off the leash then and there was no scandal to hold him back.

I remember that anonymous post saying he was a regular at Arkansas strip bars, as well.

I must have missed that one. What happened there?

Its been over 5 years since I saw this episode so I'll try to give a picture - my facts may be blended with who said what and with how I interpreted it all, but y'all will get the gist.

JB, M, Josh and Anna are doing a kind of walkthrough of the Dillard's soon to be McMansion. Jana may be there too, but off in another part of the house. They mention things here and there, like Jill can give birth in the giant tub, nice kitchen, etc. JB or M say something like, they'll have plenty rooms for guests, and Anna, kind of giggly and proud says something like, they're not going to want any guests right away and they'll be busy using the rooms. Josh's (split second) reaction was one of shock and guilt and maybe a wee bit of embarrassment. But like Anna had just shared a secret.

The feeling it left me with was, Josh and Anna were going at it like rabbits on steroids, (w/maybe some kink thrown in) right after they were married. Anna thought this was normal. Josh knew it wasn't.

I’ve said this before but I don’t understand why it’s OK for her to be alone in her house with another male, let alone this disgusting perv. I thought their “religion” didn’t allow this. Aren’t they afraid she’ll tempt him or something?

It's hard to say without watching the scene (the gist of it sounds like a lot of newlyweds who have felt the need to tell me and everyone else about their honeymoon. I never want to know, but it doesn't stop them from sharing!). But I think what stands out the most to me is that it seems like something a power-trippy person would do. It's okay if he brags about all the sex he's having on his honeymoon and makes swallowing jokes about his wife in front of her doctor, but if she mentions it, then he's uncomfortable.

Even in Josh's social group, a woman in her 50s or 60s is allowed to be alone with a young man not her husband. I dont think these rules apply to menopausal or post-menopausal women the way they due to women of reproductive age and young men. A little bit of misogyny, social expectations in inter-generational relationships, and practicality.

Elder women in the family (I dont mean elderly, but the "elder generation") are often not subject to the same rules regarding separation of sexes the way that young women are. They are NEEDED for caregiving and domestic tasks, and are often "de-sexed".

If I were Mrs Reber I would not want to be alone with Josh, because he is a creep and an asshole and I wouldnt want him in my home eating my food, but if Josh wasnt Josh (just another young man, like a nephew of Mr. Reber) it would not be odd.

I wouldn't think that it would be unusual for newlyweds to have a lot of sex on their honeymoon. Especially if they didn't engage in premarital sex.

But, I totally think that when Josh made the "master swallower" comment, he knew exactly what he was insinuating. I think that married fundies know more about sex than unmarried fundies, but not as much as the "heathens" would presumably know. However, I think Josh knows a lot more about sex than typical married fundies.

Of all the comments Josh has made about sex, the only one that creeped me the F-out (and this was before the molestations and 2015 Ashely Madison scandal) was he made a sibling incest joke about Arkansas during the first season of 17kids and Counting, remember that anyone?

I thought that was creepy and inappropriate. No young man I know has ever made such a joke about his sister in my ear shot, much less on tv. Knowing how what he has done, its even creepier.

I remember it was Josh, Anna, John David,  and Jana going to a movie. I think Josh referred to it as a double date, and referenced it being Arkansas.

Yea, I hear what you're saying, but that wasn't the vibe I got at all.  It definitely felt like Anna shared something that Josh was hiding. The scene stood out to me so much, I posted about it a few years ago. Long before this latest 'scandal'.

One thing that really stood out to me on his Ashley Madison/OKCupid profiles was how tame his list of preferences and desires were. At the time, I took it as a sign that he just wanted anyone who wasn't Anna rather than anything specific, sexually speaking, because all he wanted was the plainest of vanilla sex. But now I'm wondering if he's been escalating since then--extramarital sex probably being extremely deviant to him at the time; or if what he wanted was deviance or kink without consent. Because there are a ton of options online for finding someone who wants whatever your kink is, so if he wanted kink but said he wanted vanilla...there are some really sinister implications there, and I hope I'm just letting my imagination get the better of me.

When I think Josh and Anna's honeymoon, I imagine something like the Pearls honeymoon. I don't think Josh was all that nice to Anna. He was filmed letting Anna carry their suitcases. He didn't even try to be courteous in front of the cameras, so imagine when no one is watching...

Josh was an ass to Anna. I remember that scene where she was STRUGGLING with two suitcases and his ass was just strolling along.

That was awful too. I was with my BFF when she had her baby and I wouldn’t have DREAMED to sleep. And that wasn’t my baby!

If we had a dollar for every time we saw Josh being awful none of us on this forum would have a mortgage or student loans.

In that case, she had you. Anna also had many “helpers.” Josh probably would’ve just gotten in the way with his useless self.

22 minutes ago, coconspirator said:Bolded your first paragraph for emphasis.  This cannot be stated enough. Teenagers who are sexually acting out can very often be helped through an accredited and evidenced based treatment program. Working with kids who are still developing their moral center and who still have a great deal of brain development during those years is much different than working with a 35 year old man or woman who has been sexually offending for years.  Digging a ditch doesn't teach you about harm to others, about emotional and physical intrusiveness, or about cognitive distortions that justified the offense.  Josh might have been put on the right path if his parents had gotten him REAL help. Now it probably is too late.

Shame on everyone who knew about Josh as a teen and didn’t call CPS. He would’ve been mandated to get legitimate therapy.

They believed in letting the church and families settle these sort of problems. They were STAUNCHLY against outside assistance. They viewed it as interference and showing weakness in their faith.

Knowing what they know now, I wonder if Boobchelle would seek outside help if Jackson (the only male minor left) acted out in some way?

I know the way they view CPS. But it’s such a shame that someone, anyone who knew, didn’t at least make an anonymous report.

Unfortunately, even their church friends believed that such matters were to be handled internally. To report would be interference. Sad, but that's how they operate.
