@hathorlive, now that the trial is behind us, do you have any final thoughts on the evidence presented, the defense arguments, etc.?

I guess that's one way to make sure the baby gets diapers.  But since you are told that the line is monitored, it's a pretty dumb way to do it.

I am going to withhold judgment until I read the transcripts. I think the defense did the best they could do with the stupid client they had, but Josh just buried himself by talking without his lawyer present.  No sane person was going to let a guy who says "are you here about the CP?" go free.  I do think the Prosecution had an amazing case, but there's always the fear that you talk above the jury's head and lose some of them in the process.  I won't know what the transcripts will show, but the failure to interrogate the router was massive mistake. That should have been fixed by putting the forensics guy back on the stand and asking him what a router does and does it have any static memory. And then point out that the router was not seized and the defense expert could mosey over to Josh's and look at it any old time.    And keep reiterating that router's don't store data. If the router was password protected, the HSI guys should have gone into the router and shown that it was locked and needed a password. Screenshots, guys.  Screenshots.

I said since day one that if they allowed the testimony about his molestation of the sisters into the trail, Josh was done.  There was no coming back from what he said, what he did in the past and what he downloaded.

I'll add more when I get ahold of the transcrips.

The FF basically confessing to the feds when they showed up at the car lot is referenced here a lot, but what took place, exactly? Did they show him their badges, and he immediately asked if they were there because someone downloaded CP? Is he really that stupid? Is it on record exactly what he said and when he said it?

A detective testified that Josh agreed to talk with them when the arrived at the car lot. While getting ready to start the interview Josh asked, is this because someone downloaded child pornography?

As noted above, yes, he really is that stupid.  He also agreed to answer questions before saying it, without consulting an attorney, let alone having one present.  While sitting in the cop's car, not in a formal setting. So, he really wins the gold medal for stupid on this one.

Perhaps the detective testified as to what his response is (and I've missed it) but I would love to have been a fly on the wall if nothing more than to see the look on the detective's face when Josh replied!

He probably felt like he'd won the lottery.  It doesn't get much easier than this.

I'm not sure what his response was, but for some reason I think he said we'll get to why we're here in a minute and then proceeded to formally get the interview going, including recording it.

But... I may be making this up. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Why is Josh calling Hilaria from jail???

As for phone calls, inmates can only make outgoing collect calls and cannot receive incoming ones, according to Washington County Jail.

The Sun confirmed the phone numbers listed through public records. They were also confirmed by The SoJo Files.

Josh made 64 calls to Anna from December 10, 2021 to December 30, 2021, as some of the calls failed.

He successfully called dad Jim Bob twice on December 26 and once on December 29.

He spoke to his mom Michelle on December 14 for almost four minutes.

Josh also had three successful calls with Michelle on December 21, one on December 22 and another on December 25.

Josh called brother Jed twice before he picked up on the third try.

They talked for over 16 minutes on December 21.

Other calls include to his younger brother Justin’s in-laws Robert and Hilary Spivey, family member David Waller and his lawyer Travis Story.

Maybe to thank her for her support and because he's bored AF?

Maybe Josh finds her as bizarrely entertaining as we do.

As for the detective's response to Josh's "are you here because someone's been downloading child pornography" moment, I'm pretty sure they said in court or in the motions that they tried to caution him to not say anything until they'd started recording.

I cracked up at the pickles!

SINCE HE'S BEAN GONE

Josh Duggar’s family & fans can send him ‘gifts’ in jail including Cheetos, pickles, refried beans & more

OMGosh I always thought being in jail would suck, but after seeing this:

"The jail also offers the A.M. Delight Care Pack for $44.

This includes two instant coffee packets, five cappuccino packets, five hot chocolate packets, one creamer" <snip>

I think the worst possible punishment would be NO coffee when I felt like having it!

I get terrible caffeine withdrawal headaches when I try and go cold-turkey, so I always fall off the wagon.

(I hope FF got the worst headache ever.) 😁

Does the prison accommodate special diets for people with food allergies?  Looking at the "gift packs", there is nothing that I would eat.  I have a wheat allergy, and I do not like coffee (at all).  I also do not like chocolate.  I guess it is good that I am not planning to go to jail.

You’d be surprised at the amount of fools who will keep the Fucking Felon well stocked with snacks.

How do they know WHO he talked to?   He called a number.   Who he talked to is not part of the record I would think.   The calls are recorded but those records are not released to the general public.

I mean if my hubby wants to talk to his dad, he calls his Mom's cell phone.   Because Dad never picks up.   So even if the Felon is calling a cellphone there is no guarantee that is who he is talking to.

Maybe the name indicates who Josh says he is trying to reach?

Josh being so casual about mentioning CP makes me realize how 'casual' he felt about it. Like it wasn't much different than say, setting an odometer back.

He really is a scary, cold hearted, psychopathic excuse for a human being.

Josh really seems to think this was NBD and 'everybody does it' just as he was taught that it is only natural for teen boys to molest their sisters.

I felt that this was the attitude most of his family were taking as well.  After the verdict many of them posted about how their thoughts and sympathy went out to victims of CP but I dunno, maybe some of this was sincere but not all of it.  I really had the impression that the Duggars, en masse, think this was all much ado about nothing much.

I think that they make a distinction between the people who do the abuse vs Josh, who just looked at it.* The Duggars are very black and white in their thinking for everything EXCEPT when it comes to themselves and people who subscribe to the same belief systems; that’s when they are willing to be more morally flexible.

*Nope, if you look at CSA materials you are a piece of crap

When all sin is the same, then yes to him it is no worse than setting an odometer back or cursing or whatever.

I'm watching an old episode of COPS, and a cop is searching a car and pulls out a pill, and the driver says "Wait, is that a Xanax . . . . . . . . . . . . or a Tylenol?  It's a Tylenol."  It wasn't a Tylenol, and he went to jail.  I laughed so hard my cat got scared.  Guess Smuggar isn't alone in this sort of stupidity.

But even though they say that, we all know they don't believe it.

They commit sins all the time, yet no one but Josh is in jail. If all sins are the same, then more uber Fundies would be in jail.

Hee!   My favorite from old Cops is when the officer is asking the guy he pulled over if there are any drugs in the car or on his person.  The guy is insisting there is nothing ... while the cameraman slowly zooms in on the joint he has wedged on top of his ear (like a pencil).

Joshie is dumber than a box of rocks.

I think Josh's appeal has to be filed in January

I believe the appeals clock timeline starts running after sentencing.

ETA:  The sentencing phase can also open up additional avenues for appeal, which is another reason why the appellate phase begins after sentencing takes place.
