I wonder why Doctor Dubrow, self-proclaimed King of OC plastic surgery, traveled fifty friggin miles to Cedars-Sinai in L.A. to deal with his suspected heart problem.  That's an hour and a half on a good day (and there are no good driving days in L.A.)  One would think he'd have lots of M.D. contacts in OC, and Hoag Hospital in Newport is not exactly a backwater facility.

In regards to all of Vicki's scams: I used to believe that she was truly as dumb as a stump and was being duped/ doped repeatedly by men in her desperate bid for love/affection/companionship. However, after seeing the Season 8 Behind the Scenes special I know, KNOW, the bitch knows exactly what is happening, is complicit, and is more likely than not the ringleader. I can just see her laughing to herself about all the stupid, little people out there. She is as big of a grifter as the Curtins were, she just has better game and has been able to hide it under a veneer of respectability(maintaining a job) and a crazy, needy persona. That neediness distracted us for many seasons as to who the real Vicki is; a scam artist who would compromise her own son for possible riches.

Here's the thing.  Vicki is objectively an awful person.  I think we can all get on board with that.  But, to me, this show *is* Vicki.  I'm not going to pretend I would stop watching if she weren't on it because, let's face it, I'm Bravo's bitch and I would likely continue watching even if they replaced her with a Cornish game hen in lash extensions and a tube dress.  However, in my opinion, she is the most compelling person on the show.  I think a lot of that is due to her utter narcissism and lack of self-awareness (e.g. Even little things like her comment that she bought Brianna's new house.  Why?  Why even mention that?).  To me, it's more interesting to watch her than to watch someone like, say, Tamra, who comes off as very calculating and playing to the camera in many ways.  I can't help it; I want to know what comes next for Vicki, whether it's getting hit in the head with another football or offensively asking workers in her home not to "scratch the woody."  Again, please do not read this as a moral defense of Vicki.  She's absolutely awful.  But, to me, she's compelling and also "real," to the extent that any of them are.  

And it is absolutely idiotic that the other women were refusing to film with her because...why?  Some wacked out sense of a moral compass?  (Especially Megan, who's been on this show for all of one season?  Like, take a seat.)  Do they not realize how dull the show would be if she weren't around?  It would basically consist of Terry working too much, Shannon sitting around with a constipated look, Megan discussing her (non-)"fertility issues," and Tamra doing bicep presses.

Here's the thing about Vicks now -- for me, at least.  Every time I see her now, I just have to choke back the urge to vomit.  That she could be involved in faking cancer is so vile to me, I don't even wanna look at her, let alone hear anything she has to say.  

Could I possibly find Vicks remotely funny or conpelling to watch anymore?  NO!  Satan Andy shoulda dumped her from the show.  I'm hoping Shannon, Heather, Tams & Meghan continue to freeze her out.  She needs to go.

Vicki's main source of money is this show. I don't think that she has sold much insurance in years. Remember how she used to be key note speaker at various insurance conventions and for small business networking groups? Vicki was presented with a Rolex watch at one of them (yeah, right). It would surprise me if her insurance business takes more than one day a week. In this area, she reminds me a lot of Ramona Singer. A lot of talk and self-promotion about products that will not make anyone rich.

I don't care to ever see Jenna again. She enabled men in her life to treat her badly. No amount of fashion or makeup is going to make someone with such low self-esteem attractive.

Vicks is the original OG of the OC, she must be pulling down at least $500,000 per season. If NeNe Leakes can get 1 million per season this seems reasonable to me. Not exactly chump change. She also still has her Insurance biz, too, right? I know that kitchen remodel is no joke. At least $50,000. No, I don't think she's hurting in the $$$ dept. at all. 

I totally agree with this. I read that she made at least $850,000 per season not including bonuses.  Vicki makes good coin.

Vicki is making plenty of dough off residuals, probably low 6 figures.   That's passive income. She's also getting a cut from the sales people who work in the Coto office, and she also sells leads.   I'd be surprised if Coto ins wasn't netting her at least 250k per year.  Add the shitty endorsements all the HWs do, her Bravo salary, and we are looking at around 800k  total yearly, if not more.   One thing I will give her is that she built up a profitable business instead of gluing shit to cuffs like Lynne or Laurie.

Me too. She is a horrible, horrible person. I just don't understand someone like her.  I can't believe that there are people like her out there. I guess I just look at it differently.  I'm an addict in recovery with over 22 years clean. I did some wicked, horrible stuff when I was in my active addiction, things that I can never undo, things that if I hadn't been on drugs, I would never have even thought about doing.  A person in active addiction isn't in their right mind.  Since I retired I volunteer at the local juvenile hall as a drug counselor.  I see every day how drugs can completely change who you are. 

In my mind, Josh didn't pull the trigger, his addiction did.  I admit I could be wrong and he could just be an evil person, drugs or no drugs but that's not the Josh I remember.  I just don't think he would have shot someone if  wasn't in the throes of active addiction.  

The kid needs major help and I truly hope someone in his life cares enough to help him and not give up on him.  

Sorry for going on about this.  My heart hurts for Josh right now.

So interesting Talky Tina. I find your empathy, experience, and volunteering to be extremely admirable. Although I'm of the opposite mind, I enjoy reading your opinion, and I'm glad you put it out there. 

I myself have a complicated history with addiction (I know that phrase is heresy to AA members, lol). I am 100% on board in thinking that the way that we (as a country) view addiction and treat afflicted individuals needs to change. I also agree that people do horrible things during their active addiction phase that they would never do if they didn't have this terrible disease. 

However, I have written off addicts for lesser crimes than the one allegedly committed by Josh Peterson. I wish that I could be as forgiving as you are, and maybe I will be one day. However, I feel no sympathy for Josh right now. Obviously I don't know the details of the shooting (drug deal gone wrong?) but once someone shoots someone (unless in self-defense) my sympathy goes out the window. Even Kim Richards hasn't shot anyone (that I know of!) And yet she is ripped apart page after page. Then again, KR did tell Rinna to eat a piece of bread, so maybe she is more deserving of backlash than Josh. All jokes aside, the Peterson family seems extremely dysfunctional. I feel bad for Josh's daughter, and I'll leave it at that.

As a final aside, as someone who has the insight to know that I don't know what it feels like to be some of these addicts, you're an angel. It's great that these people who are clearly struggling have someone that they can talk to and not feel judged by. You're truly doing some noble work.

To tie this in with the episode -ahem, awkward segue- "Don't judge me unless you're perfect." Who else would have that tagline besides good ol' Vicki? (Or Teresa Guidice.)* She's certainly not apologizing for anything! My goodness, could she be any less ashamed of herself!? I know its been covered, but, "I don't care about your medical records, I don't care [that you faked cancer]" and, "I'd do it all over again." The hell? This woman is the epitome of co-dependence. She seemed to be so much more stable (for Vicki) with Don. What caused this epic downward spiral of toxicity and extreme codependency?

Which brings me to Tamra. Tamra looked hot. That's really all I have to say about her, but since she's about as shallow as a puddle, I'm sure she'd be thrilled to hear it. I'm interested in her insta-family drama, but I'm sure the juicy bits will be kept off-camera! (On a side note, interesting how much domestic violence infiltrates this franchise. It has publicly touched Tamra's,Vicki's, and Shannon's families to varying degrees. And those are just the ones we know about.)

Shannon. I'll be the lone dissenter and say that I think she seems happier this season. Now happy Shannon isn't everyone's version of happy. She will always be wound up tightly, but I think she's doing better than she was last season. I like how Shannon appears on camera completely sans makeup or is game to show her stomach. I love how she doesn't care if people think she's downsizing because she can't afford her home. #Zerofucks- live and learn Ericka Girardi.

Heather and Terry are growing on me. Bring on the yachts, bring on the mansions, bring on the sparkly dresses. I think Heather is in on the joke, and I feel like she legitimately cared about how Shannon would feel seeing Vicki (which I didn't expect- hope the two of them become real friends). I think at her core Heather is a nice person, but I can't understand why she is so quick to forgive Vicki. Unless they are much closer than I previously thought, how did Terry's health scare convince her that a friendship with Vicki was so important? Especially after Vicki made up the IV story involving Dr. Dubrow?

The new woman is a necessary evil in order for this season to not be a rehash of last season. The newbie shifts some focus off of Vicki and is willing to film with her. She also brings a different element to the cast. Agree that she's doing a (bad) Sarah Silverman impression. Her "jokes" are corny and lame. She's clearly already decided to hate Shannon and IMO was an asshole for her USC comment. Have SOME class. Please don't let her turn into Brandi 2.0. Her hubby was cute though! His personality probably sucks, but he's better looking than I expected /shallow. And newbie, if you're reading this- never make the 55 year old joke again. I would have felt so awkward if I were on the receiving end of that. For once Vicki had some tact and a quick save. (Excuse me if the above paragraph makes no sense, it's hard to write your opinion of someone when you can't remember their name.)

ETA: I rewound Tamra's deep thoughts on her baptism to see if it was spliced together. I'm undecided. It's a very Tamra thing to say, but I don't know if I believe she came up with that "joke" herself.

I didn't watch Jeana's earlier seasons, but from what I have seen, she doesn't seem to have any respect for women, so I'm not surprised that she doesn't demand respect for herself.

And true confession- I sadly want a Jim Edmonds candle. (But not his frozen semen--even if its included as a free gift with purchase). Am I interpreting that marketing scene correctly?

I also completely understand your point.  I don't expect anybody to really agree with my opinion, I actually expected most to disagree.  I'm just trying to show that even after all of this,  there is hope for Josh. Nobody ever thought I would get clean.  I can thankfully say that I never shot anyone but I could curl your hair with some of my stories.

Totally agree. Michael always seemed bored to tears with the idea of selling insurance....yet here he is. Instead of discovering what his own ambitions were and pursuing them, he took the easy road and kept working for mommy.

I am so bored of everyone following Tamra. She's been disloyal to both Shannon and Heather, yet they follow her and forgive her, but not Vicki, who did NOTHING to either of them. She's got her own shit, but she was a good friend to them, she never hurt them or trashed them the way Tamra has.

Disgusted that Vicki bought Brianna and her rage filled husband a house.  She claims they will pay her back when they sell their house.  Yeah, right!  When pigs fly.  Why not let them sell their house and then move back home.  I guess they want to make sure Brianna gets a Bravo check this season.  Vicki is always trying to buy her kids' love.  I don't like Brianna and can't stand Ryan.  I really don't want to see either of them this season.

 

Anxious to see who the new girl is calling ugly this season.  That seems like it will be funny.  She's trying too hard to be a badass though.  I guess she'll have Heather clutching her pearls most of the time this season.  Ho-hum.

I can't help but think of the excellent movie, Glengarry Glen Ross, with the chalkboards listing sales leaders and everyone salivating over a stack of cards with juicy "Glengarry" leads.  I can envision Vicky rationing out "KillALLCancer" leads to her employees with the same smug arrogance as Kevin Spacey, and Michael breezing in from San Diego in his BMW to browbeat the hapless sales people for not closing enough deals.

Is it possible that this season is edited wonky?  I ask because the opening scene of Shannon playing basketball with her family showed a quite thin (IMO) Shannon.  Yet she looked heavier at Heather's party, and was complaining about her weight.

Vicky's kitchen didn't bother me much, but Kelly's sure did!  Everything was so sterile and plastic looking.  And her patio furniture looked so inexpensive and poor quality.  I also didn't like her bathroom.  But she did it all herself and loves it, so good for her, I guess.

Reserving my opinion on Kelly at this point, but that nude lip color does her no favors in her TH.  It's a little startling, to be honest.

I continue to be confused by Vicky and Brianna's relationship.  Brianna complains about her mother, says she doesn't want or need her mother's money because she's a six figure earning nurse, yet again takes Vicky's money.  She wants to be independent emotionally and financially from Vicky, but gets reeled back in by asking Vicky's assistance.  They both make me SMH.

I agree on the Tamra stuff, but Vicki didn't do "nothing" to Shannon and Heather. She lied to both of them. She used Heather's husband in some story to try and prove how sick Brooks was. She had Shannon, especially, worrying about him and trying to pull strings to get him better care...when it was all a fraud. I'd be pretty pissed about that myself.

Didn't Vicki also sic her brother and his girlfriend on Shannon at last year's finale? I recall the girlfriend demanding proof about David's affair or some such bullshit.  I think Vicki did plenty to Shannon.

Yea, that was really vile. It came out of nowhere and was pretty obvious, to me, that Vicki initiated that.

Shannon doesnt need to film with Vicki unless at a cast gathering...its more realistic that way to end up at the same party...be cordial..or make veiled insults.
