Apparently Daniel Goddard begged Mal Young for Cane to be paired with Victoria so unfortunately we will be subjected to that grossness coming up. Hopefully Josh Griffith puts a quick end to it.

Since 'Lane' stans no longer have a couple with Lily being off contract and in the pokey, there really is no reason to keep Cryptkeeper Jr. around.

I have very little faith in this show but I would be shocked if JG and Tony Morina, the new EP and husband of Sally (who Gina actively and shamelessly undermined with her “people LOVE Philly” tweets right after Sally declared them dreadful, unlikeable and dead, AND kept pimping them while Sally tried to sell Villy) will give this vile pair another try.

Philly fans are the new Lane fans. Fucking insane. (Though far fewer in number.) And Gina is DG with her posting of that laughable SOD poll and constant encouragement of  their weirdness “thanks for the balloons, cookies and pics of me macking on Jason!!!”

You're both probably right about Jason Thompson.  I thought he was miscast from Day 1 - ahhh, the sunny days of yesteryear when being miscast was the worst sin I could imagine.......Now I so utterly loathe the character and find the actor completely charmless, I can't see a day even in the distant future where I won't want to ff the very sight of him.

I liked him on GH as Robin's husband and the father of her child, and I enjoyed the way his character detested Sonny and Jason, and I didn't mind him even when that show had characters swoon at how handsome and charming he was.  Different speeds for different folks, I figured.

But he's been front and center for what feels like decades now, more charmless and talented with each overexposure to the point that I doubt I can ever look at him as anything other than a Cam Matheson wannabe and there isn't anything worse than that, unless it would be Cam Matheson himself.

I agree. He’s dreadful. But he doesn’t appear to be difficult to work with and he has no desire to leave and try prime time or something. So TPTB will keep investing in him.

This show will never not suck.

But Mal is out and that’s good news.

The character is approaching Victor's level of loathsomeness, and JT's just got nothin' going for him as an actor, though I hear he's a lovely person. I find him as "charmless" as you said. I don't know how they could plan to backburner GT's character without JT's character being affected. The twenty or so stans who ride or die Philly won't let that stand.

It's funny how when Mal was hired, I had such high hopes and was excited. Fast-forward and suddenly I couldn't wait for him to get fired. I hope this new regime is better but I think I've lost all hope. They need to find a balance between plot (which I like) and characterization without it being boring. Sally's regime was kind of dull.

I agree jewel21: I too had thought the new blood of Mal Young (NOT being the same US soaps rotating parade like JJP) with classic Y&R writer Sally Sussman would be a good combo. Maybe it just needed more time? For all it's faults I still don't think the show is as bad as Chuck Pratt era.

It will be interesting to see how quickly (if any) changes are made. I’m sure nothing will be said or done until January when they go back. Will they drop everything mid story and then hire the vets back or will it be a slow roll out. Who’s to say that JG won’t work (or be told) with what he has?! Personally, I say get rid of the newbies but TPTB might like JV (and, family) and, keep him. I think most of the fans want the old Y&R back but I think most will be disappointed. Also, I would like to see the old sets brought back to life especially Newman ranch. I know Sharon burnt it down but with Victors money he can build an exact replica for Nikki. LOL!!!!

In a tweet last week, MY indicated he was back in Britain, but I got the idea it wasn't immediately after he was booted. Based on EB's tweets alone, I believe this was a done deal over a month ago. So perhaps in the next two or three weeks I believe we'll start seeing changes.

I hope that at the very least, if the Newman Ranch does reappear ( and I believe it will), it's better than that poor imitation of a tract home TPTB replaced the old set with.  Talk about charmless, with Nikki's piano right at the front door by the staircase.

The old Newman set desperately needed refurbishing IMO but to burn the place down and then replace it with what they did was a travesty.

I would love it if TPTB would bring back our old Billy and send JT back to General Hospital. Old Billy had so much more of a connection to Victoria, the kids, Jack etc. Plus Billy Miller is SO wasted as a character on GH.

I expect significant changes - Mal was fired because his version bombed. 

I do think the Rosales clan will be reduced (maybe Lola stays?), also Kerry will go imo. Tessa probably is on her way out. 

The Gina Hour will end. JG has no allegiance to the actress. And he already has shown Phyllis holds little appeal for him. (Based on his last stint.)

Devon? Ana? Fen? Show needs younger characters. They all have hope because of historical ties.

I’d like to see ED back, BM back, Lola to stay but the rest of that clan to go back to Miami, GT goes to Paris to take over for ED when she comes home to the Abbott Mansion/Jabot, Devon/Ana bring in some new, young talent—singers, entertainers to be on Mariah’s show, etc. Oh, and goodbye Kerry. You can go with GT to Paris. Please bring on some older folks with some sense to interact with the older folks on this show. We’re the ones who watch, not young kids. They’re too busy texting their friends on their phones.

Really! Don't they know who their demographic is? In fact, now that my mom, and most of her friends, have passed away, I don't even know anyone in my real life who watches soaps. Oh, and I'm 63, Jack's age, so how does that make me feel to see him fooling around with a 30-year-old? Old and fat and unworthy to be loved. Viewers who feel like that are not going to keep watching. Even Nikki's affair with Arturo was ridiculous. As much as I was "You go girl," I was also kinda "Ew."

This is exactly why I think bringing Gloria back for a fun age-appropriate love interest for Jack would be  great idea. Ground breaking, in a way. Especially if you put her in a triangle with Jack and Kerry, and shown Jack realize that a woman of a certain age has a depth of character that is worth exploring.

And I tend not to like stories of women competing for men's attention, but this is a soap, so I would at least appreciate a more mature spin on the story.

I would like to see Michael, Lauren, Kevin & Gloria More. I think GR is having too much on Days right now to return plunge Kevin though. I’m curious to what is said in January. Will they work with what they have or will they go back to the vets? I only watch Y&R on Friday's. The show is so slow I get caught up pretty quickly. That said, I had no idea who Jack’s new love interest was. For a second I thought it was a Hillary recast but then realized I hadn’t seen a such announcement for one. She seems way out of her league with Peter Bergman and I’m kind of surprised a random newbie would be paired with him. I’m guessing she isn’t long for the game. Bye Felicia!

I like Gloria but I just don't see her character as a long term option with Jack. So after they toss the no talent noobs, how about finding someone like Colleen Zenk (Barbara, ATWT) as a new love interest? And, have her be loyal to Jack, I'm sick of him getting the short end of the stick with his love interests.
