Fitz and Olivia are presented with a shocking plan that might just make all of their troubles go away, and Mellie is put through the ringer when confronted about her troubled marriage. Meanwhile, the Gladiators continue to defend Olivia, and Susan Ross turns to David for advice.

I may have said this before but I don't think I've really meant it before.

I think I'm done.

I have really not liked anything about this show since Liv and Fitz went public.  I don't think I can take Papa Pope running free and smug on top of it.

You know what totally sucks of the fun out of what has been a great start to the season? The title of this episode. How does anything have any real stakes if papa pope can just wave his magic wand and get his way? Fuck. It's so completely fucking unneccessary.

Scandal has actually been fun this season. The hearings were a blast. And I actually liked the resolution B316 or not. And yes Abby you are all going to Hell but if it makes you feel any better you were pretty much going to Hell anyway.

The Olivia and Fitz romance still makes no sense to me. Papa Pope does have one thing right when it comes to Olivia and Fitz; Olivia will always be looking for a door marked exit. Fitz is probably the only character on the show I don't like so I kinda really enjoyed the mini smackdown Mellie gave him and when she showed up the second time with Papa Pope calling Olivia her saving grace and her white knight and the person who will make her President I kinda saw that as a Hell Yeah moment as well. So sue me I like Mellie and find her far more interesting and entertaining then Fitz.

I thought this show might be salvagable.  We might be able to make a change in direction, deal with ramifications and move on.  Instead we get more of the same.  It's the same damn plot recycled through different machines.

I just can't anymore.

The Senators didn't have anything because marrying to get out of testifying was a solution to the hearing.

Olivia couldn't testify because she would have to tell the truth.

Olivia had to help a mass murder escape to get out of testifying and not have to marry Fitz.

Does someone want to explain to me why Olivia couldn't just lie?

I just hope the B613 stays away and it's just Rowan.

My, Mellie yelling at Olivia about her father felt nice.  Ditto with Mellie yelling at Fitz.  Can that just be the rest of the season?

Good for her, all Fitz does is constantly whine and blame her for his problems.

my teevee cut out. so I basically saw them throw dead Harrison under the bus.

everything else I missed.

don't really feel bummed out about it.

so. basically. Olivia does  not want to marry Fitz. so what the hell is the point of all this? seriously.

So wanted her to punch him repeatedly when he started the "blame game".

He was the one who threw the divorce papers at her, yelled at her, etc. and then he goes around and yets blames her some more when it backfires on him.

I don't see what Liv sees in him at all.

The Olivia Fitz love story has jumped the shark.  Now she's 'not ready'.  She'll never be ready because once they're together the thrill is gone.  That's why she's in this.  Why else?  The guy is basically dumb and she knows how he got where he got, not because of his leadership or smartness, but because of the people handling him.

Loved that Jake basically told Olivia, Fuck you.

Team Mellie.

They released Liv's father who killed Jake's wife and who knows what in all those envelopes, all so Liv didn't have to get married? Mellie had it right the first time, letting out that killer just so they could get out the hearings is ridiculous.

I can't with half this show. They didn't understand and get all they did wrong with the writing and forcing of B613, they're STILL doing it.

It's to keep this an annoying on/off relationship.

Liv is still not trying to wrap her hair up at night I see. Not even a bonnet? Yeah this marriage is built on lies and wIll not last.

I'be been saying the same thing since season 1; Liv and Fitz are real yet until he sees "the scarf" and understands its importance. Oh, and don't get me started on those sex romps on the shower with no cap on and perfectly coiffed hair in the next scene!

These win the Internet today. Imagine Olivia doing the Big Chop and wanting Fitz to help, with her twists. Nope about as realistic as that damn Jam in Vermont.

Well, I liked Liz and Fitz and was hoping they would get married. Can't believe any good, will come out of letting Liv's Dad out of prison and now we'll have to listen to his marathon monologues along with watching tons of bloodshed. Aye, aye, aye Unless, someone will knock him off. I'm counting on Jake to do that!

Mellie rules. That's all I can say right now.

And Jake kind of rules also for not responding to Liv's Adele's "hello" moment there. No, Liv he does not want to talk to you about your boy problems. Shes really treating him like he's her gay bestie and not the guy who told her he was in love with her but knew she did not love him. Know your audience, Liv.

That's not the worst part. The worst part is Olivia's whole job is digging up dirt on powerful people and getting them to do what she wants! That's 90% of her cases of the week! That's what Huck does with a few keystrokes when he's hacking into the Pentagon mainframe. Olivia has, in her safe, Lena Dunham's manuscript with the dirt on tons of Washington people.

We don't need Rowan to wave his magic want for this, This is all Olivia does and the one thing the show has never wavered on is she's the best in the world at it. The Senators should be doing her bidding and that goes double for the husband murdering, bearding, teenage-abortion-procuring Sally.

In 3 seasons of Rowan posturing that Olivia is an incompetent weakling who needs daddy to "protect" her, this is the first time the show made it seem like it;s actually true - which I'm pretty sure was NOT what Shonda intended.

Fitz already knows about it though. Mellie doesn't know that Fitz knows, but I'm guessing that will come out at some point.

I really enjoyed the David Rosen / Susan Ross scenes.

And I much prefer Abby back at OPA.

Oh, and are they just expecting us to believe that Lizzie North just accepted losing her job to Cyrus and left without a fight?

I at least expected to see her pop up on Sally's show to dish some dirt, or even for her to be testifying.

I was not surprised that Olivia stalled on marrying Fitz. I certainly don't agree with the people above who have said that she does not want to marry him. I think she simply does not want to marry him as yet and under those circumstances. I figure when they do get married it will be a quick and unexpected. Fitz was petulant and ridiculous with Mellie. However, she is so ridiculous that I end up rolling my eyes at both of them. I can only hope that when the show ends, the vice president becomes president and both Fitz and Mellie are shunted aside in disgrace. Oh, I was glad that David convinced the vice president not to resign.

I think the change in the Fitz/Olivia relationship this season has rejuvenated Scandal. The only weak part is the resurrecting of B-whatever and Jake. However, I just fast forward those those horrible scenes now.The show is not going to end of Fitz and Olivia because their relationship is its foundation and it would fall apart with out them.

I recognized the actress from The Strain as the woman visiting Rowan in the prison. I wonder if this is why the decided to leave the show. She is a good actress so I hope she gets more to do.

Was anyone else depressed by "No man wants to do this!" "Of COURSE no man wants to do this!" re: proposing? I was like, well, it's a good thing I've given up on dating then!

That read Mellie gave Fitz was EPIC. And earned. Long overdue. When he was like "You take everything!" I was like "Um, what?" and was glad when she had the same question. That might be in the top three reads on this show along with this and this. I can get with "Vengeance is mine, saith Mellie."

Liv is still not trying to wrap her hair up at night I see. Not even a bonnet? Yeah this marriage is built on lies and wIll not last.

I always thought her hair was a weave so I could forgive not wrapping it up, but then they had her hair going back when she was kidnapped so yeah, she needs to wrap it up. (She also apparently sleeps in full makeup, but everyone on TV does that.) I was not feeling her church lady hairdo when she was about to marry Fitz, nor was I feeling that cardigan.

Liv needs a friend, because to call her ex about her current is tacky as hell and I'm glad Jake shut that shit down. "You're who I talk to." Well, he didn't sign up for that, so bye!

So everyone in the federal government (with the possible exception of VP Susan Ross) is hiding some horrible secret that the delivery of an envelope can cause them to stop what they are doing. What a cynical view of politics, Shonda!

I am more and more convinced that this is all going to be like the movie Sliding Doors and, just when the Olivia and Fitz are dying in each other's arms, we will be sent back to that fateful moment when Liv is asked if she is the President's mistress and this time she will answer an emphatic NO.

Everyone has secrets, maybe not murder or rape or child porn, but everyone has something they don't want to get out. And I think part of it is, how do they impeach the President when they have secrets of their own that the American public would frown upon. Very hypocritical.

I agree with the poster above who said that Olivia is supposed to be this badass fixer, who knows or can find out, anything about everybody, yet she needs daddy to fix this for her. After Rowen was released from prison, I zoned out. The B613 storyline didn't bother me so much last season but this time around it's just tired.

I don't doubt for a second that many if not most politicians have somethings in their lives they wish to hide (not necessarily murder or other violent felonies) - I assume this is the case or why would we have no really interesting, smart, decent people running for the highest office in the country?  Look at the choices!  To me, that says reams about the job, the realities of intrusive media and dissection of lives -

As to the show, I've decided to hang onto the brain cells that flee my brain with each viewing.  I now feel kind of dumb after watching.  It is such a poorly told story - whatever the story may be.  And, I don't care about even one character in the show.  Not one.

Maybe I will tune in for the finale - I'm kind of hoping we see both of them walking off in different directions having divided the country and creating chaos over their "true love' crap.  That would be my ending anyway.

So again.... can not lie, but can release a murderer to black mail the senators?

How does she think she wears the white hat again?

I enjoyed Jack hanging up on her.

Also I enjoyed how bored fitz and liv looked in bed. Like a normal married couple, no teasing, no stolen glances, no oval office sex. Just a couple in bed that looked bored and stressed. What real like marriage go through, I know we are expected to believe this is LOVE, but I always felt this was a hot affair, once the thrill is gone who knows?

Yep.  Its all exciting stuff when you are hot and heavy in the Oval office and giving Mellie the middle finger, knowing that she feels some kind of way about it.  I know Mellie does not love Fitz and I don't think she ever did, but she thought they were a team (just as Cyrus thought he was on the team) and he trashed that relationship without in reverence to Mellie for having his children.

Now, he is all Olivia's 24/7.  The clock is ticking on his relevance and he will soon no longer have the power to have sex with her on Air Force One whenever he wants.  Plus, even I could stand Fitz for a few hours a day or so.  Its a whole different ball of wax when you have to entertain this asshole 24/7.

Olivia is a power player.  If she really wanted to make jam in Vermont with her doting, boring husband, she could have done that long ago.

As someone said above, she would rather spar with her Daddy than marry Fitz and his dumb ass should buy a damn clue.

Mellie was the MVP of this episode. Her reading Liv & Fitz in two different scenes was epic, especially her putting Fitz on blast for playing the victim in their marriage for the umpteenth time. Fitz's claim that "[he] gave up everything" was bullshit, like almost everything else that comes out of his mouth. Oh really, asshole? Were you raped? For all her faults/crimes, Mellie has made way more sacrifices for Fitz than vice versa, not that he has sense enough to really appreciate them, unless of course, Olivia's involved. The more Mellie made Fitz's face crack, the more I loved her.

A close second was Jake's hanging up on Liv for dumping all her Fitz drama on him. IMO, Liv lost the right to expect Jake to do anything to help Fitz the second she chose Fitz over him. In that moment, Jake proved that he's got more balls, more pride and more sense than Liv gave him credit for.

Another highlight were the David & Susan scenes. Like Mellie's rants at Fitz & Liv & Jake's brushoff of Liv, David & Susan's expressing their mutual disgust with Liv & Fitz's behavior was long overdue. I don't blame Susan for wanting to resign because chances are it's just a matter of time before Fitz's so-called "presidency" not only becomes a sinking ship, it'll be the Titanic.

Are you allowed to invoke the 5th Amendment provisions while testifying at Congressional hearings?  That would seem to be the shortest route for anyone to avoid throwing anyone else under the bus.  Yeah, it makes you look guilty in the eyes of the populace, but Olivia and Fitz are way beyond that.

The only thing I really took away from this episode was that Huck's last name is Munoz.  I did not know that.

...yes Abby you are all going to Hell...

On the bright side, if anyone needs a press secretary, it's the old guy himself.

Seriously, not even a satin pillowcase if she didn't want to use a scarf or a bonnet? See, this is why I love How To Get Away With Murder. I don't know if it's Viola's decision or someone in production, but I like how that show keeps it all the way real with Annalise. The wig and makeup is off before bed, and Ana has her hair tied up in the thickest looking scarf I've ever seen.  Even after her hookup with Eve, Annalise sent Eve on her away wearing her robe and scarf. If this were real life, Olivia's hair would have breakage.  But I guess she must have Florina, Filomena, and Maria (aka The Dominican blowout fairies) on retainer every morning for a fresh blow out and bump.
