  1. How old was Nina when she fell into a coma (or however she got into a coma)? Maybe she is emotionally stunted as she never developed naturally emotionally as one should/would if not in a coma for a million years. Franco baiting everyone - seems to be leading somewhere and probably not a good somewhere. Just don't care.
  2. From episode 1 this season I didn't care for it and hung in there but just deleted from my DVR - I did see some promo for upcoming last season of Inspector Lewis so I guess I will wait for that. Right now, everything is so depressing on Masterpiece - I still like Call the Midwife as they do it so well even as intense as it is and Selfridge is now on the sad side of events but I'm hanging in there till the end on that one. But, Grantchester just provides zero enjoyment or satisfaction of having watched a well made show, etc They really got a third season??
  3. I like SG - and have no problems with roles from their past; they are actors, after all. I don't care what she played in Firefly - won't impact my viewing of this new show - IF it happens and IF it winds up being well written, etc. I liked the cast of Firefly - but, wasn't a huge fan of the show - so I don't mind them showing up on Castle. I am, obviously, one of a few people here who really doesn't care that she is not coming back and don't have any interest in reading about why because we won't ever know what all went down anyway. If the showrunners were to release a statement at this point, I can only imagine the feeding frenzy as it is dissected for every word for tone, intent, truthfulness - seems easier to stay quiet but maybe they will release a statement closer to time of renewal/cancelation stuff. I never care about people getting together as couples or not - TV never does it well so whenever I see what I am supposed to take as people being smitten and then them dragging out forever the two getting together only to muck up the whole thing, I just cringe and wish they would get people together more naturally and not make it such a big damn deal to it in the first place, taking years to get them together. It's seems so silly to me and writers for some reason never seem to be able to write these sorts of stories or couples well -so, I just don't care. The show has been simply awful - even if she was staying and the show was renewed in its current configuration, it would be off my DVR because it is just so bad right now - (to me) - It's been disappointing to see the slide into this boring version of the show for the past few years - what a drop from the first few seasons when there was fun, witty, smart Castle. Might be cheaper to just make it that he is living in L.A. instead of having to futz around trying to make it like here (NYC) - it all looks so fake when they do it.
  4. No, it is not an automatic right to stay if his wife has a Visa. One tiny bit on this (given this isn't a board re: immigration issues): "Relatives of non-EU/EEA/Swiss nationals Spouses and minor children can apply to join family members who are not EU/EEA/Swiss citizens, living in France, under the following conditions: "- The family member you are going to join must be living in France for at least one year and hold a valid residence permit. - Your relative must have adequate finances (an amount equal to the monthly minimum wage – EUR 1,445). - There must be enough room for you: French standards are 16sqm for a couple, and 9sqm per extra person." Whatever I think of the faults of this story - I don't really mind it - it is a time when young people do things of which parents often don't approve. I know I did something pretty extraordinary at 18 years of age and my parents were 100% opposed, it didn't stop me. In hindsight now at my age, would I have done what I did as I did it. No, but that's how it all works - young people do things and they are either successful and happy with their choices or things go haywire or it is just plain disappointing. Trying to stop someone over age 18 years of age from making their own choices (stupid, bad, goofy ones) is like trying to turn a ship around in the ocean. The only person on this show I actually like as a character is Eli's daughter - I like the character and I like the actress who is just very natural in the role.
  5. The point I was making about lazy writing is that Americans (and others) cannot go to anywhere in the EU for more than 90 days; not without a grueling VISA process - so, no, he can't go to France for year to travel or anything. It's just a bugaboo of mine when they gloss over stuff like this so they stick this storyline in - in real life, all a parent had to do is point out it is not legal in any way (and, believe me, they are checking) to go for more than 90 days. That would sober up the kids - and, fast. The girlfriend could go for more than 90 days as she has a job, but not him. Anyway - says a lot about this crappy episode that I focused on that - and the strange bot person that Alicia has become. "Happy" seemed to become her code word for the night and I guess I as a viewer am supposed to assume that she will now focus on finding happiness? Yeah, by now, I really don't care.
  6. John Noble (who I adore) looks so thin - more so than the last episodes. Hope he not sick. I was so struck by his appearance - Episodes always benefit from having more Gregson -
  7. Alicia is like some sort of robot - with inappropriate/bizarre reactions to situations, etc. Just weird. She's coming off as a shell shocked victim - And, what's the big deal with the joke of the acres on the moon? The fact that she didn't get it immediately is - again - weird. Yeah, not the moment to hand it over but so what? So - I don't get why she likes him and I really don't get why he likes her. The fantasy of the kid moving to France is so ridiculous - good luck with getting that visa fella! The "wife" is not a French citizen - I hate when shows screw this sort of stuff up so royally. And, Jackie is never going to see the mother of her grandchildren again? Who is writing this crap? If she ends up with Peter - well, I wouldn't be surprised but I don't care one way or the other.
  8. I think I wouldn't mind if Henry were off the show but then I don't want a mopey, mourning Elizabeth so.... I just wish whatever the heck happens with this ginned-up dramatic storyline that Henry stops playing spy next season and goes back to showing up for only a few minutes each week; he's like the shark that zoomed in from under a rock at the bottom of the sea and is eating the show - sorry, I don't like TD either - but, still - it's to much with him at this point - for me....
  9. Kromm: "Diagnosis Murder"? I never watched that show so I wouldn't have been referring to that. You said the Dick Van Dyke Show wasn't good - I was referring to the that 1961 show - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054533/?ref_=nv_sr_2- not Diagnosis Murder. And, you really think I'm getting 'upset' about it - about a television show? Yeah, I don't get upset about such frivolous things. I was simply asking you a question - that's all. No need to respond as I'm sure you never the DvD Show. So, never mind, as they say.
  10. Kromm: You think the Dick VanDyke show was "shit"? Really? Wow - I loved it - the ensemble cast was terrific, the story lines - funny and also very warm. I was referring to the 1961 sitcom, not the variety show - if that is what you thought I meant. But, you are the first person I've seen/read/etc who thought that sitcom was shit - Oh well - we are all different. What I miss about some of those old shows like the DvD show, I Love Lucy - all of which I watched after their original airing - was they really had to tell a story, they couldn't resort to the sexual hijinks, etc that came in later sitcoms. Actually, there were quite a bunch of them - some really awful (I thought the Donna Reed Show was just terrible) but I did and do love both I love Lucy and DvD -
  11. If the writing is good, I think NF could carry a show - no doubt. As an aside: as to the Gilmore Girls - I think anyone can watch through the end of season 4 and wind up enjoying it and feeling satisfied (because after that: splat) - But, it is doable. I just wish I had know but I watched from the beginning and did bail for most of the last 2-1/2 years it took such a dive. Maybe NF does believe a show should go out on top and he, sadly, believes this show is "on top" still. I think all shows have a shelf life - 3, maybe 4 season and then the redundancy and changes to characters begin to made - none of which make the show better. Dick Van Dyke was a smart cookie. He ended the Dick Van Dyke show when it was at the top of the heap, saying he wanted to end it when it still had quality, etc - and, he did. The network wanted to keep it going - he said "no." I always admired that. Such a terrific decision. That show remains a wonderful watch - haven't seen it for years but when reruns were on years ago, it all held up and I never felt like it tanked -
  12. Still no sighting or word about Trubul - (or, however you spell it)? I'm not a particular fan or anything but curious where she disappeared to - maybe I missed something? All shows are upping the violence - not sure if it is to shock or desensitize viewers. I just find it lazy and distasteful and, usually, unnecessary and a wee bit desperate on the part of the directors/producers.
  13. Years ago, my apartment was broken into in the middle of the night while my boyfriend and I were sleeping. The thief came into our third story apartment by climbing up and then onto our terrace which I used to leave unlocked so my cat could go out use the letterbox and hang out, outside (never again after that night, obviously). He took a few items and left through the front door. We didn't know a thing until the morning. He had gotten into 3 of the 4 apartment units - quite prolific as a thief. When the police came to take the report, my boyfriend (to my horror) asked whether a gun was a good idea - the cop said, having a gun can cause all sorts of unexpected stuff - one being the thief coming into your room (and, if not armed) attacking you before you can fire and grabbing the gun and wind up killing/hurting the victims they had not planned on harming and that if you did have a gun in hand when confronting the person, be prepared to shoot and keep firing until gun is empty - We chose to not get one as we just felt with the adrenalin pumping, fear, whateveretc., too many bad scenarios could happen so, for us, that was not a choice. The cop also said it is best if it is the middle of the night, you hear something - just stay put - don't come out to confront the thief as most (not all, of course) are there to steal not kill - but, when a confrontation happens, bad things can happen. Another good piece of advice from him was not to get one of those locks for the door that needs a key when leaving as it does when entering. He said the last thing you want is if the thief got in another way (as in our situation or through a window), you want him/her to leave with ease, not get crazy frustrated because they can't leave which all again can escalate into something bad happening they didn't plan on. This is all - obviously - about our particular type of situation. I know there are countless others. But, I had been considering that sort of lock so was happy to get that bit of advice.
  14. That's the thing I really don't understand about parents who think they are successfully hiding stuff from their kids; it's like they have zero memory of their own childhood. Kids are sponges and watch everything with spanking brand new brains that soak up and process everything in some way. Just because they are not eye to eye with you, doesn't mean they can't see/observe what you are doing. Sheesh. It was too special of a special episode but, in the end, given the number of guns in the U.S. and the number of incidents that happen with guns and kids in the homes, the ultimate tag about safety is a good one, if only as a reminder to some people out there. Just this week there was another story about one child getting hold of a parent's gun and accidentally shooting their sibling. Hardly the first and it won't be the last but if people are (for some reason) susceptible to messages from fictional tv shows (which is a whole other issue I can't comprehend), then this ultimate message: not a bad one. And, of course, heavy handed but that's what TV does and her in particular.
  15. Every time I hear Dr O speak the hideous words they put in her mouth in a German accent, I cringe. Just cringe. And, yeah, why does she have so much hate for this new version ME is playing? I can't remember seeing anything about the "why" - I do hope she's out the door. I used to like Anna. Now, I don't.
