Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

The Politics Policy is still in effect. A participants social media is NOT an invitation to discuss their political view points. Consider if discussion of certain social media posts will cause you to violate the politics policy BEFORE you hit the "Submit Reply" button.

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Why does this look like she was planted there and she's up to her knees in the ground .

I wonder if this church asked Jill to decorate, or if she pushed herself on them again. Who am I kidding? Of course she pushed herself on them

I suspect that Ileana was actually in charge of decorating and Jill bulldozed her into putting her on the team so she could take credit.

The flowers look OK though I'm not a big fan of fake flowers and I also am a fan of Christmasy red and green at this time of year; but that's me.

the church probably gave her some money, the decorating partner did all the work and jill sat with her SEVERELY injured leg up on pillows and waited to limp around to take pics and the credit. seriously this was "a dream come true"???

Well, she said that Ileana as her decorating buddy. Which probably means Ileana did all the work while Jill sat down and took photos. So don't feel dirty about not hating it.

Don't forget that she is SEVERELY injured.

I can't tell if the flowers are blue or purple, but if they are purple... I am shocked that the flowers are liturgically appropriate.  Purple is the color for Advent and white (or gold) is the color for Christmas Day so they would be thematically correct for this week.

Granted, most churches are using poinsettias at this point in the month so red is a predominant "seasonal decor" but for a church with no budget, this isn't bad.

In my church individuals buy the poinsettias, and after Christmas they can take them home.  We do the same thing with lilies at Easter.

Those flowers look like they are sapphire blue poinsettias.  I doubt seriously that Jill knows anything about purple candles for advent. I've seen worse but I don't like fake flowers that are of a color not found in the natural flower like blue poinsettia.

Oh, Hilary, you’re completely missing the point of forgiveness. One can forgive and still understand (and support) that there are consequences to actions.

This cannot be said enough! Plus, those of us who are not xtians are under no obligation to adhere to the Duggar interpretation of biblical forgiveness.

Looks like Jed Jason has fled to Texas for the holidays. I'd jokingly wondered if that would happen, but it makes me really curious who will be at the TTH this year.

He’s there a lot. Wonder if he’s got a special friend in the area? Or if he’s working for Clair’s dad?

I've long promoted the theory that his frequent visits are because he is Hilaria's one true love. And I mainly mean it jokingly but after watching her asshole husband slam that door in her face at the courthouse, I've started to wonder.

As soon as I saw it was a Spivey picture, I was so eager to play spot the Jason that it didn't even register with me until now, nearly an hour later, how Justin in his festive tree get-up looks like he was parachuted in from another family's picture.

Did Juddy's birth family even have their Ugly Attire party this year?

Just the way I hope it would be. 😀

I feel bad for the underage Duggar kids and the M kids, though. I remember being a kid and being trapped in the house with miserable, stressed-out adults taking it out on everyone around them, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

It's not just the minor children. ALL the Duggar kids suffered at the hands of their fucked up parents. We are now seeing how damaged the adult children are. The trial revealed some new truths, especially with Joy.

I feel for the adult kids, too, in general, but they have options to escape the miserable holiday festivities with their asshole parents if they really want to. The minors don't, and I have spent a lot of time feeling bad for those kids ever since the trial because I cannot even imagine what a hellhole the TTH is right now.

The irony is that their Ugly Christmas sweaters made most of them look much better dressed than they normally are.

DITTO, and holidays were always especially horrendous! (I needed a trigger warning for your comment.)

I hope Nurie got a TON of compliments on her dress, because it looks ten times better than she ever wore when she was under Jill’s thumb.

Jill’s nightmare is coming to life: a daughter who looks better put together than BME. You go Nurie!
