I was trying to find the one where she has her mouth hanging open and made the mistake of googling "Robyn Brown Crying"

Life with Kody has been really hard on her face

The whole "nanny thing" is funny!  WTH does Robyn need a nanny for?  She doesn't work, her youngest is 4-6 I'm guessing and she has teenaged and adult children living there.  And Kody doesn't work anymore that I'm aware of!

She's always looked like a witch though.  IMO she's the least attractive of the four wives, both physically and personality-wise.

I live 1000 miles away from my sister, but my 3 year old niece knows who I am and my kids (her cousins) because my sister is always showing pics and we occasionally FaceTime. There have been a few visits but covid has made those fewer than planned. Sure there aren’t like 20 of us, but there are things Robyn could do if she were really concerned

Seriously! My nephew goes to a really nice daycare - one of the things my sibling had to prepare for his cubby was a small photo album with family photos in it. The primary purpose was for him to have a touchpoint if he got sad or missed his parents during the day. He also readily knew who everyone was because of it.

If Robyn is the de facto fambly photographer, why didn't she put something like that together for "her youngest"?

When she first came into the family I thought she was really pretty—she was vibrant, had a lot of energy. She was also the only wife under 200lb. After 12 years she now appears stressed, tired, out-of-shape and puffy.

With the nanny taking the workload off Robyn, I would have imagined she was in the gym and at the spa (or had a gym at her home) but it doesn’t appear so.

And yeah, her personality.

I've always thought Christine was the prettiest and also very upbeat and fun.  Robyn has always looked to me like Baba Yaga in profile.

For the life of me, I don't understand what Janelle and Meri are holding on to.

I believe that it all boils down to the TLC paycheck.  Meri is doing well with her MLM business but that's only because of her Sister Wife groupie followers.  Reality tv can be a lucrative business and why not if you only have to be filmed a few times a year sitting on a couch telling a camera "whatever".

She is the most unattractive wife. It's not even close. Robin looks like a wizened apple doll. It's unfortunate.

Christine, Kody and Robyn have used that safe place term this season.  It seems to refer to a place of vulnerability…..but I don’t know.  It’s not right to infer violence unless that’s what it really is, imo.

I think “safe place” means anywhere off camera.  It’s a code word(s).

Actually, both Meri and Robyn would be eligible for his Social Security benefits today if he died.  The SS website says:

"What are the marriage requirements to receive Social Security spouse’s benefits?

Generally, you must be married for one year before you can get spouse’s benefits. However, if you are the parent of your spouse’s child, the one-year rule does not apply.  A divorced spouse must have been married 10 years to get spouse’s benefits."

When my nephew was Ari's age and living 2500 miles from many of his extended family, he knew all of our names as well as ~200 dinosaur names - genus & species - and he could spell them all!

And mostly due to an effort by his parents, I would wager.  Sobyn and Kootie are both too lazy to be bothered.

Yup, and he wasn't locked up in the house (this was pre-Covid) with 4-6 adults, he went to preschool and enjoyed playing outside with his little friends, busy doing lots of other things besides learning names.

Sometimes Kootie stumbles over remembering his kids names…. He was talking about Truely in one scene and he struggled and stuttered before saying her name.

I never had children so I cannot give personal experience but my mother would stumble over my name and she only had two..a boy and a girl.  There is a family story of  how my grandmother was asking one of the grandchildren to do something and was running through all the grandkids names trying to pull up the correct name. After trying a few names she stopped in frustration and looked at the child and said " You know who I am talking to why don't you answer." My cousin's reply was " I am waiting till you get it right. " people draw blanks. That alone does not make him a bad parent to me....other things now....

I have two children and 3 grands. When the 1st grand was born I called him by both my kids names and the dogs name before I got to his. I felt like a fool, but, he's my little BFF now so I don't stress.

Was anyone else appalled by the K🤢dy snark when the interviewer suggested that he should have run after Janelle after her “f you”? The sneer, the no! What a self centered poo poo head he is! Thirty years and six kids are worth nothing to him.

Yes! That had his nasty on full display. He was quite snarky toward the interviewer, too.

My Granny did the run through the entire family's names thing and I'd just smirk at her. She'd end up laughing hard and smacking my arm and saying "Girl!" 😆 Gosh I miss her so!

Doing a bit of rewatch while I'm doing dishes, and when Kody says he doesn't believe in divorce...then how did he divorce Meri? Does that also mean Robyn is still married to her ex, or did her creepy, revisionist painting magically cancel that one out?

Unfortunately, that’s a common thread in a LOT of religions, but since we are only talking about this particular family’s religion, then yea, that’s what these grown women signed up for-including the part about obeying him.  It’s not like they weren’t familiar with the whole Mormon Fundie thing-they were all over turning their lives and wombs over to Kody to direct as he saw fit.  They are just as, if not MORE misogynistic than he is.

2 hours ago, Chalby said:

Does he not see the hypocrisy of his reactions given he had 3 long term affairs while with Meri?

Well, technically, they didn’t enter into a monogamous marriage, so having other wives aren’t “affairs”, in their religious point of view.  Yes, there is a double standard-but it is one these women agreed to.  As a feminist, I support the right of a woman to enter into whatever marital relationship she chooses, so my disdain isn’t just reserved for Dick Tater Kody.

Goodness! What were they fighting about?

Hormones?

I think the fight and the Meri lecture happened the same day (was it somebody's graduation?), but as I recall it Meri was calling out the original recipe Brown kids for being mean (or at least non-inclusive) to Robyn's kids (not sure that the offending behavior happened on screen). It was a "we are a family and you do NOT treat your siblings that way, period." A fight between the other Brown boys wouldn't have drawn that specific lecture.

I'm not paying for it, but I may look to see if I have free access to some of the earlier seasons to watch key episodes with the retrospectoscope.

I suspect Janelle is comfortable with the way things are and doesn’t “need” Kody like the others might. I know she left the family once before and was lured back, so she obviously can be off on her own. I think Kody’s inconsistent covid rules really irked her and the fact that covid got into Kody and Robyn’s household—after all their bitching about rules—wasn’t lost on her. I wonder what her deal-breaker will be?

One of her kids will buy a place with enough land for her to have her dream cabin with garden/greenhouse and she will send Kody and Robyn Christmas cards and invite them to sleep in her trailer when they come to see the grandkids (if they're speaking to the adult children at that point). And every one of them will be fine with that arrangement.

Hey Yeah No, I agree with everything you said.  Robyn plays the victim in perpetuity. I need to rewatch like some other posters are doing. I've gotten to where I cannot stand the sight of Robyn and Kody. Janelle, Meri and Christine are adults, they can deal. It's the youngest non-Robyn kids that I feel for. Loved your post, just feeling a bit bitter.

I get it, I agree with what you said too.  I also think there might be other convenient reasons he married her like being tired of the other wives.  For all his self-professed enlightenment he's still using religious beliefs as a cover for abuse, domination and manipulation of women.  It's been done for centuries.  I'm also pretty cynical about it and although I call myself a Christian (Episcopalian) I don't fully subscribe to any doctrine and go my own way.  (I was a student of Theology in college, BTW.)  I'm glad the other women seem to be waking up.  Maybe not so much Janelle or Meri yet, but definitely Christine. I find it sad that usually when people wake up out of controlling cultish religions like this they end up non-believers in anything.  It's the reason Christianity is going down the tube in this country.  People are fed up with it being spun in ways that justify inhumanity, prejudice, abuse and all sorts of heinous things.

While it's true that she didn't have anything to do with the situation devolving before she came along if she were going to face reality she would see how Kody made her his priority to avoid his responsibility to his other relationships, and put her foot down with him about it.  But she doesn't want to face that reality because it serves her own selfish interests.  She acts like she has no control over the situation but she has more control over King Kodork than any of the other wives, and if she really cared about them and wanted everyone to be happy in their relationships with him she wouldn't feel right about reaping the benefits of their relationship troubles with him and open her mouth with him about her disapproval of that.  The fact that she doesn't do that tells me that she is a self serving sack of shit and frankly, deserves how they feel about her.

I couldn’t agree more.  And the reason she didn’t say or do anything to help the other wives’ situation is because at the end of the day, Sobyn is for Sobyn and her brood and no one else.  She knew exactly what was going on with the original three and their relationships with Kootie.  Meri was a hapless stooge in her eyes.  She was never going to speak up to Kootie about his treatment of the other wives because that would mean she would risk having to be in the same boat.  As long as she was the young, skinny, new wife she was golden.  Remember, this bitch went from a single wide trailer with no heat to a mansion and being HBIC on a TV show.  No way she is going to care about her sister wives and their situation if it puts hers in jeopardy.  Nobody really believes she is in love with the “tenents” (TM Robyn Brown) of their beautiful religion, do they?  She is in love with herself, and being a lady of leisure after those years in the trailer and finally “gettin her scent out there.”

My mom too - and my brother and I both got called by the dog's name more than once...

Happened all the time at the house I grew up in (and there were only 4 of us including my parents) and happened all the time with my daughter...some people just aren't good with names (and yes, the dog's name, the cat's name...and they all get called by one another's names and we are very gender fluid in my house as far as the animals are concerned!).  When my dad would start trying to call specifically to one of us we would just all laugh and call it the "roll call!".

Yep, in my book organized religion is anathema.

Hit the nail on the head when you said "they end up non-believers in anything" - that's me in a nutshell.  I am totally fed up with the horrid things done in the name of the supreme being of ANY religion.  And the evangelical "christians" are the worst in my book.

This is a good point.  And I will take it a few steps farther:  how are other polygamist families faring during the pandemic?  Why are the Browns having so much difficulty and how do their trials and tribulations measure up to other plyg families’ issues?
And how are the husbands/leaders of these families making it happen without incurring the insurrection Kody is suffering through?

I would love to know this, and hopeful that there was something other than fear/dictatorship as mentioned in an earlier post.  If they all lived in one house, I'm guessing it would be easier to get everyone on the same page...do most plyg families live in one big house?

Ehm..in my early forties here with three kids and a dog and I also stumble over their names…🤭. In my defense, it’s usually when I’m in a rush and I need one of them to grab something really quickly.

I never mix them up when I’m talking about them personally or forget fundamental basics about them (Gabe doing the double school year) like Kody.

Oh I agree, Kody and Robyn are very happy together, thanks to Meri (and I’m guessing she deeply regrets pushing Kody into Robyn’s arms but can’t admit it in order to stay on the Dark Queen’s good side).

Robyn does a terrible job of fake crying and pretending to be upset that she’s the only one having a full relationship with Kody. They both do a terrible job hiding it—being seen in the mall, at dinner, they’re truly happy (and don’t seem to mind that they’ve destroyed the family).

I watched the rest of the episode. I'm really curious about what went on between the wives when Robyn joined the family, as things were alluded to in this episode around bullying and giving Robyn a hard time. It is certainly implied that Christine definitely did not want Robyn around, and I can't figure out what Janelle is talking about when she implies issues between her and Robyn in the past and "trying again" to work on their relationship. I don't remember any problems between Robyn and Janelle on camera during the entire series. They only ever talked about the issues between Janelle and Meri.

Robyn's crying is over the top, but I think she has been made into the scapegoat for things that should fall directly on Kody.

Did the wives have a say in Kody taking a 4th wife, or did he just announce that's what he was doing?
