(Airdate 3/28/21) COVID-19 disrupts birthday celebrations for the Brown family, while Kody is surprised to learn that Mariah and Audrey have gone to run the bed and breakfast to protect Meri's mom.

Kody being the only one going to each house.......they should equate COVID and his penis and understand the virus being spread. Sort of like cold sores, etc..

Anyway.....only Robyn and Kody tweeted last night.

That was just plain cruel.  I get Christine's desire to go over there and sing for everyone - that's what she does because she is the only adult that actually does seem to love all her bonus kids.  But to have Truely stand there apart from her father, knowing that he got to go back inside the house to stay and play with Sol and Ariblabola was heartbreaking on a deeper level.  It might have been better for Christine to simply have stayed away.  Truely has gotten the scraps of Kody's attention and affection her entire life while watching him slather her half brother and sister with adoration.  How she doesn't end up scarred from that, I don't even know.

Worse is that 3 days later, Truely would have celebrated her birthday, and Kody probably didn't bring Robyn's family anywhere near, because they were celebrating Aurora's "landmark" or "benchmark" 18th birthday instead.  Out of the 5 birthdays, we saw 2 - probably because the other families didn't reciprocate for Truely and Christine.

When Kody comforted King Sol and Areiolablabla (even though Truely was the despondent child), the calendar in the room was on the month of March.  The birthday spree is in mid-April.  Ariblabola was trying to escape him.

Mariah and Audrey have given up on themselves!  They both look terrible.  They are young women.  What's happened to them!  I'd love to see a side by side before and after of the two of them.

I thought Mariah was bad but what happened to Audrey???

Why are they filming a whole year ago and just now showing it?  Kind of like a rerun!

I too feel so bad for Truly.  Such a sweet little girl.

It really is the Kody and Robin show!  I wonder if he'll twist it around and eliminate the other three wives from the show completely.  Wait for it!

Her going on and on about how weirdly quiet the birthday party annoyed me. Like it was a stealth way of getting confirmation that they all really liked the smaller family dynamic, but having plausible deniability that she voiced that she felt 'weird' about it. I feel like she is so freaking manipulative but tries oh so hard to appear not to be. Like why did she just have to call Kody if she knew he was meeting Meri after going weeks without seeing or talking to her?!? Give them some freaking alone time for goodness sake. Then acts like she was put in an awkward position, which she interjected herself into.

+++++1 to all of this.

She could have made her call on the pretext of saying a quick hello to Mariah and Audge, despite the fact that both she and Kody had already let more than a week elapse before even making a phone call.  The fact that she didn't even inquire about M & A convinces me that the whole scenario was a made up plot device.  Someone please correct me if she did even mention them and I missed it.

Two giant pans full of beigey-orange slop - I couldn't tell if it was some kind of pasta with cheese sauce?  I have no clue but I noted that there was no salad, no vegetable, no bread - just a huge plate of whatever that was.  Strive With Janelle, y'all!

Giant skillets plopped on a lumpy tablecloth, and no beverages or napkins. Did they pull the cleanest forks out of the unwashed load in the dishwasher? Yummy birthday meal at Billy Goat Acres! How does a tablecloth lose the ability to lie flat on a table? I like Gabe but he lost me with rubbing the face of the dog butted up to the edge of the table and then running his hands through his own hair before resuming his repast. Yuck.

"3. why is Robyn daughter still using a pacifier?"

I thought the same thing. When this was filmed Ariella was 4 years old. wtf

"Yeah and she may be younger but to me she looks every bit as old and matronly as the rest."

Agree. Robyn looks a lot older than 42 partly due to her wardrobe.

I'm sure it's TLC editing, but the comment Robyn said in the clip from next week - I shouldn't be with him that much - made me slightly hopeful that the karma gods are out of covid lockdown and itching to get to work.

They "explain" things to us ad nauseam in general anyway, but now they get to educate us on COVID - and it goes on and on and on... Honestly, I haven't been able to get through a single show yet this season because of it. I also don't want to hear them blather on about how sad it is to miss a birthday party when people had relatives in the hospital dying alone because they weren't allowed to be in there with them. Now THAT is sad!

And I am weirdly interested in their takes on Covid, especially those early days when none of us knew what was going on.  What I cannot handle are fictional shows doing the Covid thing.  I want FICTION on my fiction shows. 🙂

But having said that, I find some of their takes fairly triggering - for instance, when they think this Covid thing is only going to last a few more weeks, or when they admit that they don't really know what the rules are, or when Christine talks about wiping down Gabe's gift twice and then keeping a distance from it until they delivered it (which makes no sense whatsoever considering they then had to pick up the gift and put it in their car, but her confusion about doing what she thought was right is something I can definitely relate to).  What I loathe, however, is Kody's constant blaming of Gabe and Garrison for being the reason that poor widdle Kody can't go and visit his other wives and children when this outcome is pretty much perfect for him.  His sons are handing him his "excuse" on a silver platter.  They are going to watch these episodes and see their dad throwing them under the bus repeatedly, even though they've explained that since they don't see him anyway, he can't be their reason for not quarantining and they aren't wrong!  Kody just needs someone to pin the blame on for him not seeing his other wives and kids, and it's certainly not going to be HIS fault.

I'm afraid you do, because SOMEONE has to tell us what on earth this family is eating.  It's orange, gloppy, and being served out of a huge frying pan with another large pot that seemed to hold the same thing.  To me it looked like spaghetti mixed with Thousand Island dressing.

Kody had to work out at home, cause the gym is closed. So Mr. I get no alone time, usually goes to the gym by himself

This article about Kody and the gym includes pictures of him that are burned in my brain. I keep seeing a kindergarten kid, dropped off from the bus, on his way down the sidewalk, to his house. Obviously he knows the paparazzi are looking at him and starts a performance.

6. Speaking of Meri's mother, does anyone else think that Meri, Janelle, and Christine not tweeting last night, may be because they are either preparing or attending Bonnie's funeral? I wouldn't be surprised if Kody and Robyn, who both tweeted last night, did not attend her funeral, due to the safety of Robyn's children.

As far as I know, Janelle is still in North Carolina. Christine hasn’t participated in any tweeting this season. What you said could also be true, though. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Regardless, Gabe and Garrison should use precautions to protect their mom and other sibling in their home. I witnessed a lot of arrogance and defiance of people their age and it was not amusing.  And some of those I saw did get Covid and spread it to their family members in the home.   So, the young men’s arguments don’t mean much to me. Just their excuse, imo.

Kody is a lousy actor and the look on his face gave it away when he started fake-asking about Mariah and Audrey. He has no shame because he must realize that the scenario as presented revealed yet again that he is an asshole.

You have enough seasons as a reality TV "star" and eventually the truth comes out regardless of how hard you try to hide it.

It looks like a beef stroganoff/hamburger helper thing. I sure wouldn't want that for my birthday dinner, but there is no accounting for taste, right?

I am very confused by the rando social distancing decisions put forth by this family, but it seems on brand with their "we all just make our decisions and then complain about how unorganized we are as a family" way of doing things. To be fair- there was a lot of confusion at the time this episode supposedly takes place about what you could/couldn't do, who you could do it with, and masks were still considered unnecessary- at least where I was during the early lock down days. But from what I can tell:

-Christine, I assume, does the shopping and has also made the decision that she and her family can go and stand on porches and visit the other households that way. Kody is allowed in.

-Robyn does the shopping, apparently, but I've yet to see a kid from that household make it out past the front door. Kody is living there allowed in.

-Janelle does the shopping, apparently, and her two boys are working/socializing outside of the home. Savannah is at home for the most part. They spend a lot of time together in their yard. Kody isn't allowed over and apparently can't/won't do a socially distanced visit outside.

-Meri is totally doing her own thing by herself (save Mariah/Audrey/Bonnie) and one time Kody came over and sat in her driveway. According to Meri, no one checks in on her and she doesn't speak to anyone.

Am I forgetting any wrinkles in this?

These people celebrate 23 birthdays a year, EVERY year - I personally would be pretty sick of birthdays if I had to do that. I'd rather watch them teach their kids about being grateful for what they do have and about being creative and self-sufficient to get through a crappy time. But like I said, I'm not really watching, so maybe they are doing some of that.

Correction - I believe that's more like 29 birthdays, if we include in-laws and grandchildren. Actually, let's just make that 30 - Kody probably insists on celebrating Caleb's birthday AND half birthday.

Yes. Ground beef stroganoff is what I thought it was.  I have known people who make it (🤢) with ground beef and canned cream of mushroom soup...

now that we have actual verbal confirmation that Kody and Meri have zero relationship, occasionally see each other and are friendly but not romantic, (well, that's just like seeing any neighbor while tooling around town), AND she is lonely as hell on top of it all, WHY NOT LEAVE NOW MERI WHILE YOU STILL HAVE A SHOT AT AN ACTUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH A MAN.  I know she has wonky eyebrows, but she seems sharp enough, and looks OK.  She basically looks ordinary which is enough.  GO GET IT MERI.  NO NEED TO BE LONELY.

I don't think that Kody and Meri are even on friendly terms. I think she desperately wants to resurrect their relationship and he rebuffs her at every turn. He's not even nice to her; he's barely polite.

I actually like beef stroganoff as well as a once-in-awhile comfort food treat....but the slop on Janelle's table did not look remotely appetizing to me (but who knows? It might be the birthday boy's favorite dish, right?).

Did Kody say he usually does weights at the gym, but can't go to the gym because of Covid, so is doing what he can at Christine's house....and that people in their 50s shouldn't do cardio? I heard him say something about cardio, but really didn't want to rewind to confirm what he said.

The dog thinking Kody is the alpha dog - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!  I really needed that laugh.

Friends I know got Covid last May. They moved to their basement to stay away from their two teenagers and toddler. The two teenagers were able to look after themselves and the toddler for two weeks while their parents recovered. Robyn would not need Kody to look after her were she to get sick. She could easily isolate in her bedroom while her three teenagers looked after the two little kids. Would it be easy? No. Would everything get done the way Robyn wanted? No. Would it be doable? Totally.

Mosby takes one look at Kody/Goofy and goes weeeee weeeee!  Since dogs cannot laugh.

Kootie is certainly not the alpha male when around Joe Darger or other men he is trying to impress.

I don't know about birthdays but in earlier seasons, Kody wanted to scale back on  Christmas. Focus on the meaning of vs commercialism.

Robyn convinced him not to.

So when are Robyn's oldest children going to grow up some and accept some responsibility for their younger siblings? Kody saying if Robyn got sick, he would have to be there to help care for her and the youngest children, uh, are you telling me a 20 year old, and 18 year old, and 16 year old can't help?

For all we know she's still breast feeding that whole mob.  Didn't she co-sleep with King Solomon until he started grade school?  And you can't expect the Drama Queen to help, she's got to practice her swooning skills.

I don’t “feel bad” for Kody or anything, don't get me wrong - can't stand the guy - but I think he does realize he really shouldn’t have been a polygamist. I’m sure it sounded cool and novel when he was a horny 20-something year old, but the reality of maintaining 4 families and 18 children and growing into middle age with four partners who all want his time and attention is very different.

I also don’t think he truly fell in love until Robyn, so as a young man he probably didn’t realize how hard it would actually be to leave one wife he really loved to spend time with another that he basically saw as a friend. No matter how much guys might say they wouldn't mind multiple partners, most only really LOVE one (at least at a time). I personally don't believe he ever truly loved Meri, Janelle or Christine, so it probably wasn't that big a deal to him to leave one of them behind to see the other.

None of that excuses any of his cowardly and cruel behavior, it's just a really odd dynamic due to polygamy. Like seeing a guy leave one wife or girlfriend for a woman he truly falls head over heels for... except he actually stays married to the first one... AND TWO OTHERS.

To be fair, Mariah and Audrey have both talked about dealing with some pretty serious depression in the past. I know Audrey made mention of that in the last episode and both have talked about their mental health struggles on social media. Depression made me (and makes a lot of people) put on a lot of weight and stop taking care of themselves or thinking about their appearance pretty frequently. This was also during quarantine and a lot of people, myself included, didn't exactly look great, lol.

1. I realize I hate reality shows showing us them learning about covid. It’s not fun staying home and it’s not fun watching other people stay at home and complain about covid

2. if kody is going between houses, then he’s exposing them anyway.

3. why is Robyn daughter still using a pacifier?

Agree with all of this!  And, I'll add that I hate it when Kody refers to his kids as "Janelle's kids" or "Christine's kids."  Why doesn't he say, "My kids with Janelle?"
