So, now GG is having to “cut back on the smoking of the pot”?  What happened not smoking pot for nine months?  What is this cutting back shit?  Since she said last episode that it’s been years since she’s gone more than a couple of hours without smoking, what is “cutting down” going to be?  From Chong to Cheech?

I am finding the only people on this show who 1.) have an IQ higher than room temperature ;and 2.) aren’t crass is this unholy trinity of Sara, Paulina, and Nema.

Nema is goofy as fuck, but he’s alright.  He makes sense and he doesn’t fly off the handle. Also, whenever someone adopts a mixed breed dog that is kind of funny-looking and would otherwise likely have been euthanized, it touches my heart.

Paulina may be thirsty, but her thirst is low-key and measured.  She’s making chess moves.  She’s not completely showing her ass...and she’s doing it with a boyfriend who is Mike! (who is in completely over his head managing this multi-million dollar building project).

I have issues with Destiney, but Adam rubbed me the wrong way when he was so sensational in relaying Destiney’s behavior vis a vis Sam to GG.  What ever happened to, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas?  So she got drunk and slept with a guy and they’re both single.  So what?  I also think it’s ironic that Reza, Adam’s husband, was completely like, “Oh, if i wasn’t married and he was gay, I might have slept with him,” while Adam and GG were on the fainting couch.

Oh no you di’int with saying Nema’s dad didn’t teach him to be a man, Mike!  What kind of “man” are you, exactly?  It’s hard to decipher if he’s ever held a real job, he cheated on his wife, he lied about it for an entire season, and when it did come out, it embarrassed his entire community.  Mike’s dad seems like a good guy, but I can’t find evidence that he was successful in teaching Mike how to be a man either.  Mike doth protest too much.

Yeah I had the same thought - especially in this bougie wannabe crowd who probably pay big $$$ for their purebreeds.  It’s a large part of why I find him the least hateful of the main cast.

(I used to consider Rachel Ray annoying AF until I heard that she rescues pitbulls)

  • Love 10

Once again, Destiney managed to annoy the crap out of me tonight. Is anything about her authentic? Even the way she sneezes seems to be manufactured to emulate a cutesy anime schoolgirl. I also find her constant utterance of "voy voy voy voy" and now "ba ba ba ba ba" really grating. I don't think I would mind half as much if it came from anyone else. (Perhaps someone familiar can elucidate how commonplace these expressions are, and what exactly they translate to.)

GG read my mind when she questioned who this new 2019 Destiney is. Destiney may have always been histrionic and hungry for camera time, but this new boy-crazy incarnation seems to be just another way to shamelessly shoehorn herself into as many of her castmates' storylines as she can. I wish she was a one-and-done like Asifa. Anyone remember her?

Nema may not be able to dance well (which leads me to believe he's terrible in the sack as the dance instructor jested), but at least he has his head on his shoulders unlike Mike. Who does Mike think he is to question the way Nema was raised? Ostensibly, Nema is a successful, self-made businessman whose marriage failed due to his philandering wife. As we saw in this episode, Nema can easily admit when he is wrong and apologize. Meanwhile, Mike is a failure for all intents and purposes who still lives off the benefaction of his parents. He has bounced from one ill-conceived business venture to another without profit and cheated on every significant other we have seen him with. Nevertheless, Mike has the audacity to be a rude, condescending asshat who attempts to mansplain what it means to be a man? Mike, have a seat. In fact, have all the seats.

That cooking class/culinary competition looked like a hoot; that's exactly the kind of event I would love to participate in with my friends. It's unfortunate Mike and Nema had to put such a damper on the night bringing their toxic masculinity into the mix. Mike's fragile ego and masculinity were bruised when he learned his girlfriend surreptitiously met with Nema, so he lashed out. However, fool that he is, Mike didn't realize this made him look even less competent and in control of his relationship with Paulina. I'm not at all surprised about his unscrupulous business practices, vis-a-vis attempting to cut both his prospective business partners out of the deal. However, utilizing that tactic on both of them? Did he not consider the fact the two of them could talk to one another and easily do the same to him, the weakest link? Mike is such a dunce it boggles the mind.

Speaking of emasculation, Reza got his weekly dose of humiliating his husband in front of others this week when he told Sara who knows what may have happened if her brother was gay and Adam wasn't in the picture. I practically heard the "womp womp" sound effect on my screen when the editors cut to Adam, resting his head in his hands and casting his eyes down on the floor. I have to admit, I chortled at that moment. It seems Adam is doomed to always be the butt of the joke in his marriage.

Anita was gorgeous and graceful, as always. She's like the Iranian Jennifer Esposito. Yeah, I have a crush on her, but can you blame me?

Me too! I had a client that went to a kill shelter and adopted the worst mess of a dog...fleas, tapeworms, extremely matted fur, in desperate need of grooming. But that was their purpose and on death row. They spent the money to get him healthy and cleaned up and he lived a happy life.

Maybe there is more to Nema than his veneers.

Ive missed a few seasons to know her back story well enough but she seems like a weird unit. Those expressions aren't *that* common, she's cultivating some phony yenta persona. Its too much. A simple bah bah when you see a beautiful spread of food etc is normal. bah bah is - yum yum or nice nice depending on the context and Vai is to convey shock, surprise, astonishment.  I hate Reza but I did chuckle him ask Destiney (what is her real name?)  how do you know this agha (gentleman) in front of her mom.

Can anyone tell me what paulina sees in Mike? serious question, is this just for screen time or what?

I wish Mike's parents went by their Persian names...do you think Aaron goes to Iran and ask people to call him Arash?

GG doesn't know what's going to hit her with this baby. Her parents will raise this kid.

Mike is insecure. He knows Paulina is a good catch. Paulina met with Neema to stick up for Mike - and both guys are making it seem like something underhanded.

Mike was losing his shit when he thought Paulina went to Nema's house!

She annoys the crap out of me too!  She is always with the vai vai vai vai vai!  When she was fake sneezing, and doing that weird little girl voice (to impress Sam?) - what was she saying??

I could give a rat's ass who Destiny fucks. I need the shit stirring mean girl MJ, neanderthal Tommy and delusional earth mother Asa back on my screen.

Paulina was wrong for not letting Mike know she was planning to meet with Nema. Of course Mike blames it all on Nema. I wish the show would get rid of Mike. He's such a waste of flesh.

I was surprised in episode 5 when Nema was eating in the restaurant with Paulina and they both made a picky eater move.  He said I'll have the glazed salmon without the glaze.  She said something similar but I can't remember what it was.  Usually this crowd is a bunch of hearty eaters and I don't see them being picky.

Oh, yeah I remembered what she said.  She said "goat cheese, walnut and something salad with no walnuts."

You have all covered what an asshat Mike is, so I don't have to add anything.

Incidentally, those who are in this group should migrate over to the Family Karma forum.  That show is like Shahs with much more functional people.  While they have to have some degree of fame-whore disorder to even be on a reality show, they seem to have real jobs and lack the extreme negative personality traits from this show.  It's more about how the Indian parents push marriage on everyone.  I suspect one guy is gay and doesn't admit it to himself, though.

Wherever MJ lives, it’s a hell of a lot nicer than where Mike and Reza live.  GG and Nema also live in much nicer places. I’ll never understand a shitty little house on a shitty little plot with low ceilings.  Not even the hundreds of thousands of dollars of rehab they put into it make it appealing to me, as compared to a condo for the same price. I’ll never get it. There are so many parks and open spaces in LA.  I don’t think having a tiny patch of lawn is something to strive for.

I think it’s safe to just assume everyone on reality TV dated R. Kelly at some point in time. Sara was getting so weird about her brother with Destiney though.  It was the first time I thought Sara was getting ugly. Is she in love with her sibling too? Didn’t we get enough of that with Nema\Mona last season?

Destiney’s eyelashes should have their own Twitter handle. They look horrible as compared to, say, GG’s also false lashes, but then I pictured her without them and I realized she would look exactly like a man. There’s nothing forgiving about that bone structure.  I kinda see Ted Cruz in a wig.

7F7C2BEE-3175-43B5-BC8B-8AA788B74766.jpeg.18ae5737c886a015c5c8c63e5b96c63a.jpeg

Holy contouring and highlighting makeup on MJ in that brunch scene with Nema.  That was frightening.  Whatever she is trying to hide—like a double chin—would, I think, look better than the clown makeup. I think it’s totally cool if MJ wants to flaunt her body—she’s heavy, but she has a good shape. But I gotta wonder why she flaunts her body constantly when she is very clearly self-conscious about her size, as evidenced by her body language and the words she used about her body. What’s the point of wearing a crop top if you’re hiding behind a giant purse and scarf, or holding your hand over your abdomen?  She’d look so much more comfortable and relaxed in a long flowing tunic or a damn Hanes t-shirt. She just had a baby for Christ’s sake. She can relax for a hot second.

I don’t think Reza is mad or frustrated about the idea of Adam spreading dick pics or playing naked Jenga—I think he’s embarrassed about how it reflected on him, but I don’t think he’s very hurt. I don’t think he cares that much about Adam. He had so much more light in his eyes helping Nema buy a Rolex compared to anything else he’s done lately.

i can’t really follow all this stuff with Ali. It seems really contrived. Did someone say MJ was holding out on filming because of a compensation dispute? That’s what this feels like—tension bubbling up to the surface that has nothing to do with this Ali character.

That is why everyone should be careful trusting ppl w/ overly personal information. Ppl fall out and next thing you know your crazy amount of abortions are being screamed for all of LA to hear and all the ppl tuning in. This was done in such bad taste Reza. Accusations of cheating is bad but an abortion count is just disgusting. MJ and Reza will never be friends again. Shocked and sad.

I agree and I find a few things very interesting.  First, Shahs of Sunset was moved to Friday night, which seems to me like the kiss of death for any Bravo show, also Watch What Happens Live doesn't come on Friday night.  It makes me think that they knew what Reza said to MJ and there was NO way he could have explained that away.

I'm also pissed at Bravo for airing what Reza said, they could have edited that out the way they edited out whatever Brandi said about Andrienne on RHOBH a few seasons ago.  I don't like MJ but my heart broke for her, I could tell by her face that what Reza said was probably true.  I also understand now why Tommy trashed Reza's house.  Reza should have told MJ, even when she was screaming at him, that he didn't want to talk to her and walked the hell away.

There is a line in 12 step literature that says: When we speak or act hastily or rashly, the ability to be fair-minded and tolerant evaporates on the spot. One unkind tirade or one willful snap judgment can ruin our relation with another person for a whole day, or maybe a whole year. Nothing pays off like restraint of tongue and pen.

This was a perfect example of that passage.

It is a perfect example of that passage! I can’t believe he said that to her. He could’ve said something else about her but what he chose to say was so degrading and full of hate. I didn’t need to know that yet it’s out there from her best friend.

I don't think this show can go on any longer. No wonder Bravo dumped it for Family Karma on Sundays. I may come back with some more thoughts but right now, I'm at a loss for words.

I think when the Bravo execs saw what Reza said, they were like, "Nope, let's banish this show to Fridays."  Bravo likes messy drama but Reza, like Phaedra on RHOA, crossed a line.

I'm sure this will be the show's last season and Reza will probably disappear into obscurity.  (at least I hope so)

What the heck was that?!  MJ was acting somewhat reasonably in reaction to Destiney coming at her immediately but then she just lost her damn mind by the time Reza showed up.  And wow Reza, that was a low blow.

”You almost died, you should be home with your baby.”  Like for how long, Reza?  At what point does she get to emerge into the world again?  Stupid.

Mike claims he’s made a lot of money from being a big hitter in the real estate industry. MJ claims the same - but I don't think she was that successful either she was arrested for fraud/passing bad checks before Shahs.

She was busted for bank fraud looong before she was in real estate when she was very young and working as a teller. I don’t think her crime indicates she was doing shitty at real estate because it proceeded her career in it by many years.

What is the big deal with Destiny sleeping with the brother? Is that taboo now? I can’t stand Destiny, the emotional mess, but wtf?

I’ve been an unabashed Reza fan until now. That was sooo low!! MJ was her usual shit-stirring snakey self in talking about Adam, her best friend for life’s husband, but Reza wow!! GG suddenly seems like the sane one in this crowd.

I didn’t realize Paulina has kids. No bueno bringing kids into a relationship with Mike.

Raymond Chandler's famous quote regarding the Santa Ana winds.

“There was a desert wind blowing that night. It was one of those hot dry Santa Anas that come down through the mountain passes and curl your hair and make your nerves jump and your skin itch. On nights like that every booze party ends in a fight. Meek little wives feel the edge of the carving knife and study their husbands' necks. Anything can happen. You can even get a full glass of beer at a cocktail lounge.”

I still dislike Reza and his hubby, I generally always have, but at the same time I don’t feel bad for MJ whatsoever. I don’t think she is a victim. Stop poking a sleeping bear and then bother being surprised when it bites you on your overinflated ass. Honestly, neither of them are good people, and Tommy still sucks for trashing R&A’s home too.

Yeah that is why I am done with the show. I don’t want to have to deal with Reza and Adam’s acting like they have physically assaulted and Tommy and MJ acting like he is completely justified and should have done worse.

First, with the superficial snark: Is it just me, or does Reza’s body have an odd shape? It seems like he lost some initial weight naturally through diet and exercise and then had liposuction or some other procedure like CoolSculpting.

Everything about Destiney is extra and pointless, including her eyelashes. She looks like the witch from The Emperor’s New Groove.

In-Defense-of-Yzma-Featured.png

9YsFPWz.jpg

I’ve made it no secret I can’t stand Destiney this season, but Sara should not have inserted herself in the situation and tell Destiney to back down from seeing her brother. If Destiney meant nothing to him and was just a one night tryst, then why is Sara panicked? Isn’t this a conversation she should be having with her brother of 20+ years instead of some girl she just met whom she cannot stand? Also, I don’t know why Destiney was excessively rude to Sara upon their first meeting (“I don’t know you! I don’t know your references!”) other than hamming it up for camera time and possibly jealousy of a new potential cast member kicking her irrelevant ass to the curb.

The Shahs always had very toxic friendships—meddling with each others lives and exposing one another’s secrets. I will never forget how Reza’s lose lips was quick to expose MJ’s real age, her criminal record and a history of substance abuse. Reza is a friend to no one. Now that MJ has had some distance from him, she can see him for who he truly is. He is not her ride-or-die bestie but rather just another Good time Charlie. She is rightly hurt that even after her hellish hospitalization recovering in the ICU following a cesarian section and emergency hysterectomy, Reza did not visit her once but instead accuses her of plotting to “come for his marriage.”

Reza is a fool if he thinks the world revolves around him and his sham of a marriage. Neither him nor Adam seem all that interested in the other, and the whole world knows about the cheating and lack of monogamy thanks to this show and the printed out texts from Ali. We saw a flash of Adam’s true colors at the pool party when he lashed out at MJ with such anger apparent on his face and uttered “fuck you.” The fact that he didn’t confront her about making up stories or lying was very telling, as was his reaction to the naked Jenga accusation. We see you, Adam.

MJ is no saint. She’s followed Reza’s lead and assisted him take down one cast member every season. It was wrong of her to “expose” the problematic dynamic of her close friend’s marriage, but what Reza did was far, far worse. He’s constantly knocked MJ down, pitted her against Asa for his time and attention and now has the gaul to expose very private health information.

I suppose it was inevitable MJ and Reza would eventually fall out, but this scorched earth decimation does not make for the kind of juicy, messy reality TV viewing I sometimes shamefully relish. It’s heartbreaking to see a friendship spanning three decades fall apart but I hope MJ comes out the victor without vile and toxic Reza in her life. Unlike Reza, MJ is capable of true love; she cared for her ailing father in his last days and has been kind to Vida despite all the abuse she’s endured over the years. MJ deserves love and happiness.

I also wish Reza never sets eyes on baby Shams and is forced into a life of obscurity and isolation after this show is ineluctably canceled.

She hasn’t just followed his lead she has been completely awful on her own to people that Reza likes. Not justifying what Reza said to her but a lot of MJs behavior was not driven by Reza.
