Things got off to a rough start when McCain seemed to interrupt Behar’s introduction to the topic, prompting Behar to ask: “Can I get through this, please?”

Then, as Behar, Huntsman and Sunny Hostin were going back and forth about the Democratic senator’s “temperament,” a frustrated McCain busted into the conversation.

“Can I say something now?” she asked sarcastically. “Is that OK, Joy? Do I have permission to speak now on Amy Klobuchar? We’re all good?”

“Yes, you may, now that I’m finished,” Behar, who was filling in as moderator for Whoopi Goldberg, who was home sick with pneumonia, replied.

McCain started to make her point but stopped in the middle, apparently in reaction to a look Behar was giving her to say, “Nope, by all means, keep going Joy.”

“No, if you’re going to have a hissy fit, we can’t continue,”

Catches Meghan changing up what she was going to say after noticing a look from Joy. The whole thing was so awkward, but I'm glad Meghan got called out. More of this, please

I noticed that Joy was annoyed with Sunny and her comments about Elizabeth Warren too. Joy was in teacher mode today with Meghan getting the worst of it. Meghan just has to push it and teacher Joy has no patience for it.

Meghan's little "can I talk now?  is it ok?"  was condescending as hell, and a power play.  I think Meghan has been told to stop talking over others, and she probably thinks that she is the one getting interrupted all the time.  that's what brought on the "is it my turn to talk?"  passive-aggressive bullshit.

I enjoyed Joy's takedown so much that I screen-recorded just the hissy fit part so I can keep replaying it. 😁

Today's show was so good without Whoopi! With her away sick and Meghan silently sulking in the corner for most of it, the tone was completely different and so much more enjoyable! Even including Sunny's ridiculous pearl-clutching didn't ruin it (because Joy called her out and Sunny didn't sulk about it). It felt closer to the old way the show used to be than it has for a long time. I noticed it right from the beginning actually; when Joy mentioned she finds awards shows boring and the Grammy's is probably the best, I just knew if Whoopi was there she would've been pissed off.

Re: Elizabeth warren.  It’s important to note that she put Native American on her bar application but ethnicity has nothing to do with bar admittance.  She gained no advantage by doing that.  Bar admittance is only based the bar exam and “moral character” (e.g. no convictions of crimes, plagiarism in law school, etc).  I saw this as simply being proud of what she thought was a Native American heritage fro her family’s history.  My family always said we were Welsh...that’s all I heard growing up.  But when we were able to do genealogy research, turns out we were just plain English.  One always assumes the family lore is right.

Did anyone think Meghan spent an unusually long time staring at the sex room photo?  She looked at if for a long time as they started, then turned to the table and then went back to looking at the photo.  And then during the discussion she continued to glance back at it.  It was interesting.

Maybe she was wondering where they got all those bearskin rugs, or why someone with a sex dungeon also has an open floor plan.

So can someone tell me why JLo was chosen to do the Motown segment?  As was mentioned already by Meghan and on this board why not someone who actually sings in the vein of Motown.

I love JLo but I can see why people are like huh?. I didnt watch the Grammys but did see clips. I think Jennifer Hudson would have been amazing.  I'm wondering if the Grammys wanted a show with all the dancing and wow factor. I couldn't see Jennifer Hudson doing that but I could see Beyonce doing that. Idk if Beyonce was busy but I think she would have been good.

Almost forgot about the snowflake. So, we're to understand the subject was changed from politics to sex because MM was pissed and wasn't going to participate in the rest of the conversation if it involved politics? I could just hear saying nope I have nothing more to say. Shes such a child. I get why the producers dont want her just sitting there not engaging.  But way to feed that massive ego of hers.

Loved Joy putting MM in her place. It was glorious 💕💕💕

It is there at 1:50.

Right after Meghan starts talking about "her friends" that were at the Klobuchar rally!

I find even that laughable. She is probably ACQUAINTANCES with someone at CNN or Fox News who was there to cover it.

I guess I am alone on this one, but at my house we loved J-Lo's performance, and it seemed the audience did too.  I am a huge Motown fan, and as J-Lo said after the show, so is her mother.  She grew up with Motown.  Certainly they could have brought out some Motown performers but this was a huge dance number, so it was a different vision than having Motown performers do a tribute.  I actually agreed with Sunny.  But I do understand the opposite point of view.  It seemed odd to me that Abby and NutMeg were the ones saying that J-Lo was not a good fit.

Re the hissy fit, you know, NutMeg does that thing frequently where she is in the midst of blathering on and then she hears something in her ear, or she sees something, or she notices a look on Whoopi's face, and then she interrupts herself and stops dead, instead of just finishing the thought.  It is so amateurish and childish and I cannot believe that her producer Brian has not tried to coach her on that.

And the other thing she does frequently, is have a hissy fit and be condescending about being allowed to speak, thus wasting time, instead of just speaking.  Her producer Brian needs to work on that with her too.

So today we got both of those things!  Then she silently pouted, and I feel Abby and Sunny were just pleased as punch to get a chance to talk.

My only problem with J-Lo is that she made it too J-Lo and not enough as Motown. It had nothing to do with her ethnicity.  Celine Dion or Adele could have given soulful performances. Motown made it a point to not present Black women as lascivious and too sexy in their performances in defiance of the stereotype of Black women at the time. It was always about the songs, the harmonies, the voices of Motown artists. I felt that was missing in J-Lo's performance last night.

So, she doesn't like to talk about sex and she doesn't like to talk about people's mothering choices, etc., etc.  None of it is important enough for her, it's a waste of time to talk about.  All she really likes to talk about is politics.

Yeah , you'd think she would be good at it by now .

I agree...and maybe we should blame the producer.  The dust-up with Ariana Grande proves he's hands on.  More than likely he selected Jennifer L. and discussed what he expected from her performance.  He has stated that he's "very collaborative."

I hope when sunny was an attorney she didn’t allow her personal feeling for people get in the way of her judgement like she does on this show.  She can’t handle criticizing Lin Manuel Miranda or JLO.  It’s ok to have a differing opinion than someone you idolize sunny, we are all grown ups (insert Meghan joke here).

Omg....I wish we had someone in the audience to report back today!

Darn wish wish I was there! But the last time I was and Whoopi similarly shot down Nutmeg before they went to break... she argued with her, cried, and stormed off the set. Then was talk down to, producers had to calm her down, convince her to come back to the table, get her makeup retouched and spent the rest of the show pouting in silence.

Somebody on another forum said they were in the audience today. Not sure if true, but it sounds believable:

I was in the audience today and the atmosphere was terrible. McCain stormed off during the commercial break and spent the entire show rolling her eyes and shaking her head at the audience. How Joy kept it together I don’t know. They were supposed to do a political segment but Megan would only come back if they did the Philly house segment that her husband suggested. It was like being at a Thanksgiving dinner with fighting relatives. The Deal segment was pre taped but Sunny/Megan/Abby stayed and talked to the audience as it was shown. Joy left the set and never came back

Sunny did turn to her after the incident and said something to Joy when she stormed off. Brian then came in and talked to Joy before disappearing and coming back at 30 sec to go with Megan and the notes for the topic Megan’s husband suggested. Joy then gave Sunny the eye on getting the new topic and Sunny just sort of looked into the distance and didn’t engage either of them.

During the deals prerecorded segment, Megan shared about her grandmas birthday and said grandma reminded her of daddy. The ladies behind me groaned

That was so weird.  I was trying to figure why she kept looking at it.  Trying to remember so she could describe it to her husband and they’d try and figure out what people did in there or thinking about a remodel?  Which, by the way, would be an improvement over pictures I’ve seen of her apartment.

I thought she was looking at it so she didn't have to look at her cohosts and to hide her tears. She appeared to wipe her right eye at one point.

This Oprah's VIEW YOUR DEAL segment gives me the creeps everytime it's on. The reactions are so fake. I think why Joy never does it because if she doesn't like something she'll say it straight up. Unlike Sunny who says "Oh, my gosh!! I LOVE it!" to EVERYTHING!

I think Sunny's reactions are cringeworthy.  She goes too far over the top - gasping, saying "Wow!" over and over, carrying on as though she's never seen anything like each and every item before.  "Soap that smells nice!  Wow!  Wow!  I love it!  What a great idea!  I have to have it!"  It's laughable.  She's just so bad at doing this.

I agree and will repeat: I think she has been taking acting lessons...you know, moving up to bigger and better things.  She has no clue that "cringworthy" is the perfect term for her performances.   And...she claims to already have/love SO MANY of the "View Your Deals," that it's difficult to believe.

What the heck???   So, Mr. Meghan McCain, aka Ben Domenech, publisher of a conservative online magazine (and host of a podcast), is now providing topics for The View?                Cue Dragnet theme:  "Dum - da - Dum - Dum)

Despite what the co-hosts say about getting along off-screen, I can't imagine any of them (outside of Whoopi who clearly says she's just in it for the money) enjoys coming to that set every day.  If they were really so buddy-buddy outside of work, how does that just suspend itself for one hour daily?  Hmm...have we all been duped by a scripted reality show with NutMeg playing the Omarosa role?  The mind boggles.

With Joy who you see is the real Joy. She's been at this too long to pretend to be friends with her co-hosts.  Sunny is a lawyer so she is used to having to make peace and follow the rules.  As you said Whoopi doesn't care.  To her it's just a paycheck. Abby is new so she is just trying to get through the day. But Meghan clearly thinks the View is beneath her and it's just a stop on to something better.  For a woman in her 30s who has grown up in a public family she is woefully lacking any social skills.  You do not act like a spoiled entitled brat on live TV.  If you have problems with  your co-workers you discuss it in private.

NOTE TO ANY FUTURE EMPLOYER OF MEGHAN:  This is the person you would be hiring.  A woman who will have a hissy fit (TM Joy Behar) when she thinks she isn't getting her way or feels slighted in any way. Don't say we didn't warn you.

I think that J-Lo was picked to show that everyone loves Motown and their fans aren’t in some box. Which is why Abby and MM didn’t like the performance, they like everything in a box and segregated.

As far as Motown not sex’ing up their ladies.... they sure had no problem not paying  them their worth and having unwanted sex with them. I’m not the only who saw Dreamgirls. Lol

I used to like Sunny until I watched and listened to her more closely.  She’s so full of herself.  I can’t stand it  when she makes those cutesy, coy faces if someone on the panel references some ‘funny’ thing  she’s done.  Evidently she travels in a ‘pack’ of hangers on at all times to reinforce her love of herself.  Too bad, because I do respect her intelligence.

It's interesting now because we read on this forum that she insisted that it be shown and discussed as a topic...after her husband sent her the photos and they talked about it.  Also, she was recovering from Joy's calling-out.

I call that CNN Sunny.  I loved CNN Sunny.  Short, concise moments with her in which she would discuss topics that she was educated and an expert in.  Now we get to spend 5 hours a week with her Mon-Fri and hear her every thought and emotion on sex dungeons, condoms in schools, wearing makeup to bed, over the top birthday parties, and chickens.  It's the risk you run with TMI.  That is why I am in the minority of not wanting Ana Navarro to join the show full time.  I don't want to watch CNN Ana meet the same fate as Sunny.

Wasn't paying close enough to catch it, but was Sunny pontificating about teenagers and marijuana?   She better not get too high and mighty about that, because - no matter how deep in the sand she sticks her head - there's no guarantee that her kids won't at least experiment all that.   She may be left with a carton of eggs on her face.
