I do think that Ricky is headed into a similar situation as far as having to share is concerned

Apologies if this has been addressed in the last few hours but when I was watching the coming attractions last night, I could have sworn they showed ANOTHER guy who we have not yet met (am guessing Tarik?) and he also had a photo of "Melissa" on his cel phone and was waiting for her to show up ... I may have just been tired and misreading it but I wondered, could that be the twist ... TWO guys both go to Colombia to meet Melissa and instead end up meeting each other and discovering the catfish? That, at least, would be something new and different.

Wow... that's news to me! If that's the case, I've got to give credit TLC for some adroit planning! It's like Geezer Wars with dumber people, but cranked up to a whole other level!

I reside in Ohio.  On behalf of many many many wonderful sane residents of the Buckeye State, please don't judge us as a whole by the participants on this TV show!  I realize that areas of my fine state may be harboring and nurturing some of these train wrecks but I assure you, great people of the internet both US based and worldwide,  that most Ohioans are NOT the Danielle/Ricky/Seans of the world.

I love you all and thank you.

Hee.

I thought 5e same thing when I saw the Grandma was from GEORGIA.  As soon as that little tag appeared under her name, I thought... oh nooooo!!!

he didn't want an average looking woman, he wanted a hot porn star, blow up doll type woman.

Right. This. He's not even seeking a beautiful young woman who is out of his league. He's going after a fake, male-created fantasy object. His ideal is not a person at all. That's why it doesn't matter that he can't hear her voice on the phone. What she has to say has nothing to do with his interest.

I'm sure that there are kind and loving porn stars out there who are great moms. But if you're looking for a woman who'll be a positive influence on your twelve-year-old, I would not start with the frequent flyers at the breast- and butt-implant store. As Chris Rock said: ""As a father, you have only one job to do: Keep your daughter off the pole!...If she's dancin' on a pole, you f%$@ed up!"

In regards to the English guy getting into the country, i know how hard it can be wirh a minor crime. I know a Doctor Who actress whose husband cannot get into the country at all for a minor marijuana imfraction years ago. Another had a similar issue  way back in the 60s. She gets in to the country but she ALWAYS gets stuck yting to get through immigration.

I agree with everything you said.   Also concerning Paul and the serial killer,  I remember a few years ago that reality shows tried to avoid people that were unstable or had been arrested.  This show almost seems to go out of their way to find these types, I don't know how I feel about it especially when there are innocent children (Lucy) involved.

Some of the ethical (or not) choices made by the producers get to me sometimes. I haven't watched regularly since the Mark/Nikki season (after it accidentally came out that she was underage when he first started chatting with her online). I happened to catch this episode though and, man, I just don't know. There's no way this isn't detrimental for these kids. Happily Rachel's daughter will be too young to remember her time on this show, but I think she's getting set up for a lifetime of revolving doors of men in her life.

Melissa's butt implants are, um, going to require some upkeep.

Vidalia Pawn.   That is the most contrived name ever, love it.

What's the real mystery of John?  Is he...

1. A serial killer?

2. Has no legs?

3. Has no penis?

4. Ate the umbilical cord?

I'm not getting good feelings here.

He's really short. I'm not saying that's a bad thing but it factors into how desirable women find him and what kind of woman he could reasonably get in the UK.

Maybe really short with micropenis. My experience with micro men is that they really love bomb you before the big reveal - or not so big reveal. Lots of romantic gestures And they are a bit angry. Only speaking from my limited experience

I have a friend who’s a very nice guy, successful job, good manners, no kids, attractive face, he stays fit but he’s 5’4- you’d be amazed how many women wouldn’t give him the time of day because of that.

But there’s something ELSE wrong with this dude. I don’t know what yet.

Exactly. How would he feel about his smart, sensitive daughter doing those things? Nothing wrong with getting the balloon boobs but if you want to let them lead you through life and open doors for you, you'd best be prepared for what's behind those doors. Surely he doesn't want his daughter to behave like that or to take that direction in her life. He's not thinking about the influence he's bringing into his home. Worst case scenario, she's real, and she takes an actual interest in being a stepmom, and she starts loaning his daughter her tube tops and mini skirts. "Oh, honey, the principal of the school called again... her biology teacher was complaining about the fishnet stockings she was wearing... I told her to ignore him..." "Nothing wrong with her uploading a few photos...She feels beautiful and I did such a nice job with her makeup!"

I don't want to broad-brush this by saying those women are idiots but will instead say then that leaves some awesome guys for women who either don't care if a guy is shorter than they are, or women who are under 5'4" and like someone they don't injure their neck looking up to!

Point A: I am 5'2" and actually always LIKED short-ish guys because we fit together well ... my college love was 6'7", out of character for me, and I think my chronic back/neck problems stemmed from that relationship four decades ago LOL ... Point B: Little Snappy is 5'3" and her awesome fiance is about 5'5" and they're perfect together ... I call them a "fun-sized couple." I always wondered how he was still "available" when they got together and I realize his height may have contributed to that because I can't think of any other reason. If so, yay for us! ... Point C: Mr. Snappy is about 5'10" and we're well-matched but he is taller than most guys I liked LOL!

You’re so right. I have a petite set of friends Wife is 5’1 110lbs and husband is 5’6 135 and they call themselves “fun sized” ???.

I don’t think most people behave/pick partners based on things like that but a significant number do, as evidenced by the people who agree to be on shows like this!

My best boyfriend ever was a short guy, so I'm not dismissing Jon because of his height.  I *am* dismissing him because he's a short guy who gets into serious fights with other people, like a short guy who feels he has something to prove.  A short guy who is comfortable with himself is one (very good) thing; a short guy who needs to show people that he's as manly as taller guys can be a very bad thing.

Is it the same quality that makes men rather than women the big customers at strip clubs?  Do they believe that the dancers truly find them so attractive that the dancers are driven into writhing orgies of desire, just for them?  Women laugh with each other when men strip for them; men become serious and withdrawn and don't look at the men sitting near them.  Are men this gullible, or stupid?  And why haven't women capitalized on this?

I think that every man who appears on this show suffers from/glories in the delusion that because the online women aren't really exposed to their personalities, it's their sexy looks that draws the ladies in.  How is it that this hasn't happened in their real lives?  Why aren't women at the neighborhood bar shoving each other aside for a chance to jump the guy's bones?

This show reveals profound truths, imo, and deserves the serious study we apply to it every week.  Don't be ashamed that you watch this show, my sisters:  we are Researchers doing the Goddess's work.

I'm of the mindset that all of them -- male and female -- who pursue a foreign mate who is out of their leagues lookswise know that they are out of their league.  It's not confidence that they have.  They know on some level -- consciously or unconsciously -- their power is in the green card.  So they purposefully seek someone that is better looking than them knowing this person is essentially powerless in the relationship because of their desperation to come to the U.S.

Maybe.  But that doesn't explain the "love of my life" and "I don't know what I'll do" shit that follows the inevitable letdown.  Also, I think--and I haven't made a study (yet)--but I think your explanation holds true more for the women seeking love from overseas than the men.  But then the women from overseas are in a more dependent situation, aren't they, even if they achieve the green card, so who knows?  The men who've stuck it out have gotten jobs, not great jobs, but jobs so that they could live on their own.  But the women?  Pao's "modeling" might pay enough to support her, but I'd like to see her actual paystubs.  Anfisa, after she finishes her education, will probably be just fine with or without George.  But of the rest of them, I think the green card entitling them to stay here (rather than entitling them to work here) is of interest to the women more than the men.

If the men realize on some level that their attractiveness begins and ends with the green card, I'd think we'd find them a lot more possessive and jealous about their fiancees/wives.  But--again--their circle of male friends/competitors probably doesn't offer much more than they do!

Lol Vidalia is a city in south Georgia, hence Vidalia Pawn ?

Being from Georgia I hate when Georgians are  cast on any form of tv show, especially this show and Honey Boo Boo. We are portrayed as hillbilly hicks, and in a lot of cases, we are in fact hillbilly hicks, but not all ppl from here talk, act and behave this way.

Same for us Texans!   Why can't TLC go casting call in Wyoming or something?

And OMG for the Vidalia onion!   They are deliciously sweet!  God bless Costco for the ten pound bags in the summertime.

My husband is 5'4". I'm 5'3", so for us, it works.  Thank goodness I didn't let something like his height make me turn him down when he asked for a date!

Jesse always looks like he smells bad, plane or no plane.

See, I think he smells like very expensive cologne, one that, no matter who asks, he won’t share the name of the cologne because it’s “his signature”.

He probably takes glee in the insane amount of money he spends on it and brags that he has it imported from Dubai or something.

Darcey, I bet she wears Coco Chanel.

My bet for Darcey is Angel, and that she wears it all at once: bath gel, sparkly moisturizer and loads of parfum.

I have worn several fragrances by Chanel over the years, so I’m quite familiar with what the different bottles of each fragrance looks like.

When Darcey was dousing the entire airport before Jesse’s arrival, she had a bottle of Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche in her hand.

Nah. It used to be this way, but now Visas are required. My very clean cut/legal English relatives had to get visas this summer to come over for my Father’s funeral, and they were pretty concerned about getting them on time.

That’s not true. Do they possess full British Citizen passports? Because unless they’ve been convicted of serious crimes or are dual citizens of the “banned counties” or have traveled to a select few countries recently they should’ve been able to use the visa waiver programme to get an ESTA. They just fill out a short form that takes 5 minutes to fill out online. Not sure what happened in their case but I have British visitors at least twice a year (for the last 9 years). I actually texted a few Brits to make sure this was still the case. I just had friends visit in July and they’re coming back in October. I’ve had at least 25 different friends or family from England visit over the years. Maybe they didn’t have epassports or request them? This explains everything: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/usa/entry-requirements

I think this is true of some of them for sure (Paul, Molly, David Poor, Nicole...I haven’t been watching this show that long, I’m sure there are others.) but not all of them. I think Darcy is kind of deluded, as is the Georgia grandma.

My mother who  had a great sense of humor used to say about a drastic difference in height :   if you're nose to nose your toes are in it, if you're  toes to toes your nose is in it.  She was 5'11 and said she was 6 feet.  She also said short men  either loved her  or hated her.

So far Jesse is the scariest.
