I think Wynona was pitch perfect in her role, the rest of the adults were good and the kids were smashing.  The kids in TIU are very good, Sterling is very, very, good so it's just personal preference, as always.  Network t.v. has been tanking in the critical sphere vs. cable and streaming, so this is pretty surprising.

I think S1 of Stranger Things was stronger acting wise for the whole ensemble than S2 was.  So I am not surprised it didn't repeat.

The thing about the SAG awards is the voting body is just actors and any active member with a SAG card can vote.  So it is the award show that is almost purely about actors celebrating other actors.  And hence it might trend more toward the popular than other award categories.

For instance the Golden Globes are voted solely on the the Hollywood Foreign Press.  There is no peer group voting (no actors, directors, cinematographers etc.) and I believe the HFPA as a body numbers less than 100 people total. On the one hand they are probably the body that would be swayed most by buzz and access.  But they can be unpredictable.  Somebody on the HFP likes the CW because they are the only voting body for tv that has awarded Jane The Virgin and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend anything.  And Amazon, they loved Mozart in The Jungle and the Marvelous Mrs. Maizel.

While the Emmy's have very strict membership requirements & voting requirements.  So unlike the SAG awards, not every actor is eligible to vote in the Emmys.

I think for the SAG and amongst other tv actors This Is Us has a lot of goodwill and they aren't going to vote the way critics vote.

On a lighter note, I saw this and thought it was adorable.  And then I realized it was a picture of father and daughter which made me giggle.

Huh, so this is sweet. Mackenzie Hancsicsak (Kid Kate) and Logan Shroyer (Teen Kevin) weren't actually invited to the SAGs, so both Chrissy and Justin gave up their plus one tickets so the kids could be there. Apparently, neither one qualified to be invited because they didn't meet the mark for getting to go (both missed the mark for number of minutes for screentime; Logan apparently missed the mark to qualify by a minute or two).

It is rather sweet for the actors to actually do that. I'm surprised Mackenzie didn't meet the mark. I thought she's had more screentime than Parker (Kid Kevin), but I guess not?

I wonder if Mandy, Chrissy, and Susan, color-coordinated their SAG gowns:

Mandy Moore is a strong looking woman.  I don't think she has worn a "small" since she was eleven.  I'm always surprised when the script calls for  young Kate to talk about her mother as though she were  a frail, skinny waif-like person who wore tiny clothes.

Mandy Moore looks very thin to me. Not “frail” or “sickly” by any means, she looks healthy and beautiful but she is THIN and willowy, not much curve to her body (bust, hips or buttocks).

I would think she would always wear a small/xs PERHAPS a medium in certain clothes just because of her height (isn’t she 5’10?).

Mandy's height and weight listed on various celebrity sites say she's 5'10" and 135 pounds. and that's her publicity weight. I know she isn't curvy, but muscle and bone take up space, too, and to me her arms and wrists look large boned. I would actually guess her at about 145.  Part of it is probably because she's playing next to Milo but she looks like a fairly big boned woman to me.  I know lots of very thin, no-curves women who weigh around 150 -160 and would wear mediums or even large.  Maybe she shops at the sort of high end store where all the clothes have "vanity" sizing, but the last time I wore a "small" I weighed 108.

I think it is relative, because to me a 5’10/145lbs woman most certainly wears a small and would be considered “thin” and far from “big boned”. A “big boned” woman would be a Gwenyth Christie or Ashley Graham type. A woman who weighs 108 is probably an xxs or xs in today’s sizing (a 0 or 00) and quite petite (if she was short) or waif (if she was taller). Again not a value judgment (all of those women are beautiful) but we may be thinking of the terms differently.

And film adds weight. I have seen stars in person and am always shocked at how much thinner they look than on screen.

Absolutely. It’s not a myth.

I've tried to watch this twice but both times I had to stop, due to twitching brought on by severe second-hand embarrassment.

Well, the NBC writer in the link above did mention it in context with the death of JFK, 9-11, Vietnam, Columbine, the Challenger and other national griefs.  Heh.

Please tell me that this was written with tongue firmly in cheek??!?  I honestly don't know what's real and what's overblown hyperbole anymore with this show.

I know the hype has crossed far into ridiculousness, but I find a lot of it hilarious.  I figure Mandy and Milo and company are doing some of this tongue in cheek because they just have to be.  How can you not laugh at a “crockpot is innocent” hashtag?  I have to believe that after they do some of these ads and take some of these pictures, they start chuckling.

I've watched actors hype their TV shows and movies for years and they usually manage to do it with a little bit of modesty, usually by praising the other actors or the writers.  "Call the Midwife," is a tear jerking show but when you meet the cast they joke about it and credit the babies for all the emotion.  Mandy and Milo with their, "If you aren't sobbing, you aren't watching it right.,"  "I hope everyone will be okay," are just too much.  I try hard to avoid them outside the show, but accidents happen.

I do like the  ad. At least Crockpot can laugh at itself and Milo went along with it.

So, perhaps the Deja episode didn't fare as well as they hoped. Numbers slipped to the second lowest of the season: 8.8 million viewers and 2.2 in the demo. Still better numbers than most shows out there, but it doesn't look like the Deja-promoted episode succeeded in the way that they hoped it would.

That's just the live viewers, right? I think a lot of people - myself included - watched the Bachelor finale live and recorded TIU.
