And on this subject, if she is such a devout Christian and believes she’d be going home to the arms of Jesus (or whatever it is they say)- why is she so terrified of dying? Why is not going to Heaven the greatest miracle she’s ever know.

Derick, her son, clearly needs support and guidance. Her two grandchildren are dependent on him and Jill and she wants to be around for them.

Oh, I didn't notice Jill in that group photo. Why is she there? Is she on staff too? Isn't she nursing Sam? I do believe that Jana is off camera with both of Jill's boys. Can't Jill let Derick GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT HER? I don't see the other men there with their wives, do you? and finally, where if Derick's blazer? He looks sloppy and underdressed, as usual.

I just read an article that said girls are now allowed to join the boy scouts. Wonder how long it'll take Derick to post some crap about it, like he did when they allowed trans kids to join.

You can bet he's wearing sandals as well.  Jill is wearing that hideous dress that Anna and Joy have a copy of.

I don't even think it is a job; I suspect it is part of that bogus ministry course he's taking from Cross Church, the one he wanted everyone else to pay for.  Job implies he is getting an actual paycheck, maybe even benefits.  It is far more likely that he is paying for the privilege of going to DC as a chaperone for the college kids who might otherwise have boy-girl conversations or flash their knees at one another without supervision.  I also don't think Jana is just off camera with the kids, she is back at the compound in Arkansas taking care of their children because there's no way Derick and Jill would kick in for her meals and costs, too.

There are two girls in the picture with short dresses exposing their knees. Several girls are in pants. I guess Jill is there to chaperone Derick. He's such a stud that the girls are all over him.:-).

Yes @Marigold that can be a thing. Derick's & Jill's arrested development is also showing in the picture of them hugging in the Capitol Building.

They are leaders?? Shaping, molding and setting examples for these college age Christians? Hmm, kneeling in silent protest is disrespectful, but glomming onto your partner during a political tour is cool?

The picture of them in front of the Supreme Court, with white shirts on  (posted above)

Derick looks healthier than we have seen in almost two years and I think he gained weight too. His hands look normal now and his face has filled out. Plus, he looks showered!

I have to agree.  He looked like shit on the latest Counting On, (and irritated me a lot with his rerun "Marriage Advice" to Austin,) but the latest photo shows him looking better.  That ugly man-bun did nothing for him.  He's still a pompous ass.  I did notice the Instagram comments are not as scathing as the Twitter ones.

Danger America was really a bad decision for them. Jill was miserable and Derick was probably sick and didn't realize it.

SOS did those two a huge favor by sending them packing.  I think they got dumped because they were bad for the image but it is possible that someone with half a brain said "these two are not doing well at all.  Send them back"

Jana has also been seen in that hideous, cheap (Amazon $12.99) dress.

We are the world famous Duggars we run on Duggar time and because of that you should've waited for us to arrive before you heard the arguments?

I'm sure if the cases being argued involved gay marriage or abortion, Derick would've managed to get his lazy butt out of bed in time.

Doesn't the general public have to get tickets in advance to attend Supreme Court sessions?  And, if you're lucky enough to be there when court is in session and have the chance to see something as momentous as tha, wouldn't you be embarrassed to announce to the world that you missed the opportunity because you couldn't manage to get there in time ?  I'd be mortified myself, but Derick, of course, has no shame.

To be fair, they may be required to be couples chaperoning, as a package deal.

I hate seeing them in my neighborhood. If I'd run into them unexpectedly I don't know what my gut reaction would have been!  Spontaneously yelling out something about getting off your ass and off twitter and getting a job, most likely!

I love this! I am totally stealing it and using it whenever my holier-than-thou relatives start on about their miraculous healings.

I'm sure Jill must still be breastfeeding at this point.  I'm surprised she would leave her baby in someone else's care.

Two words: breast pump.  She pumped off enough milk to feed the baby while she was off playing missionary.

I'm not surprised Derick managed to tag along with a bunch of college students on a trip to D.C.  I am surprised he's wearing a pink shirt.  In his narrow, judgemental world, I'd think that'd be taboo as a sign of having TEH GAY.

He's a rebel and he'll never ever be any good.  Shaking head sadly.

Rebel implies he has fun or breaks rules. The stick is way too far up his ass. I'm afraid if anyone tried to pull it out, they would find it's the only thing keeping a smile on his face.

To be fair, you can sometimes get there at 5 am and still not get in. There are no tickets and seating is first-come, first-served. It depends on how many other people show up. And you have no control over that. So you're at the mercy of how long the line is when you arrive. If a lot of lobbyists and interest groups in DC are interested in that day's case or a bunch of particularly motivated tourists are in town, you can easily be out of luck. There's not much room for observers.

Okay, there is that. But everyone leaves people behind. I thought a large part of the comfort Christianity offers is the idea that you’ll be able to watch over them from Heaven and eventually be reunited with them.

Growing up and living in the Baltimore area, we went on a lot of field trips to DC.  When we went to the Capitol in high school government class we had to dress appropriately - no jeans, t-shirts, proper shoes, etc.  These people just don't know how to dress appropriately for certain situations. I'm thinking about the wedding the Duggars attended during the summer.

Derick's brother works for the Boy Scout Org. Nothing like alienating your own family.

He didn't post anything about it but he and Jill liked Trump Jr's tweet saying something like " that what the Girl Scouts are for". Well, maybe the girls are sick of selling cookies and wanna hang out with the boys. Derick's brothers hides behind a private Twitter but I have a feeling he feels the same way. He has a job to protect so the family has to stay quiet.

I'm finally jumping into the pool with both feet by posting here.

Since we've seen so very few pictures of baby Samuel, I'm beginning to wonder if something with his delivery became a 'trigger' for Jill.  Maybe a flashback of sorts?  It feels like we had eleventy million pics of Izzy at this age and only a handful with Sam.  While asshat is dancing up a storm with kids, someone needs to sneak Jill to a therapist's office.

Someone counted up Sammy IG posts by Derick and Jill since Sammy was born. Jill has posted him 13 times, Derick 6. So, essentially 20 posts in 3 months. Jessa can knock out that many posts in a couple of weeks.

I wonder if they will ever talk about Samuel's birth?  If they never show Jill's labor, I hope some interviewer questions them about it.

I've been thinking they don't want to be reality stars as much and I don't mind them quitting reality tv.  I'm less concerned with Samuel's birth and more concerned about the fact Jill may still be doing most of the prenatal care for her sisters.  I would definitely hope that since they're on tv, that they would talk more about that.

They can't talk about it because Jill isn't a licensed midwife. All she can do on camera is use her doppler, and she's already done that. I think it's a foregone conclusion that Joy is relying on Dr. Jill, but we're never going to be officially privy to that information any more than we were privy to Jessa's midwife for Henry (when Jill was home for the delivery) or Spurgeon (when it was rumored that that doula - whose name escapes me at the moment - was the primary "midwife" in the room).  We don't even know who Anna used for either Meredith (remember, she had a great CNM lined up in DC, but those plans got shot to shit) or Mason. Jill was in Danger America for that first month when Meredith was born and hadn't passed the NARM yet (she took the exam when they came back for Michael Bates' wedding in August, IIRC), but she could have delivered Mason.

TL;DR. All this to point out that we haven't seen a real midwife deliver a Duggar grandbaby, like, ever.

I wouldn't be surprised if they never even tried (or even wanted to) go inside. Derrick may have just invented that on the spur of the moment to make himself sound important.

We did once - Anna's third baby.  The water birth where she was panicked.  It's easy to forget amidst all the grandbabies.

Yeah, this thought crossed my mind, too!  On the other hand, the current court is full of Christian-conservative heroes, especially the newest justice. So I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of quasi-educational conservative-Christian student DC trips these days make a special point of going to see Gorsuch and company in action, knocking down the ebil librul system! It would make a real story for them to tell back at home -- and someday to their grandbabies. All about how they watched Christ's judicial army in action one day in 2017.

Discussing if the Duggars were at the Values Voters Summit is fine, no need to discuss or mention the politics/politicians behind it. From the Mod Announcements:

Quote

A reminder that though the Duggars are constantly bringing up politically charged issues, political discussion is not allowed at Previously.tv, unless it directly relates to episode content. It's very tempting to use their constant social media posts as a jumping off point for discussion of our own beliefs, or to bring up what politicians are saying or doing or not doing about an issue, either in seriousness or in jest, but that's against the site rules. Please, resist!
