I've seen suspects blame their minor children for the CP on their computers.  For an affirmative defense, you usually have to try to provide facts for it.  But the defense lawyers entire goal is to get "it was his brother" into the jury member's minds.  Even if the prosecutor objects, it's still out there.  And even if they blame J boy X, its not like they go and arrest that boy.  

 

JB is in a lose lose situation.  If Josh pleads, then he is admitting guilt and JB looks like a bad Christian and parent.  If they go to trial, everyone will know what Josh was looking at and they look like a bad family.  It's fascinating to see how this plays out.

Nope.  Not going to happen.  Imagine being the AUSA in Western Arkansas, explaining to the people why stolen car parts negate child pornography.  There will be NO deal for Josh Duggar, unless it includes 10 years (or more) in prison.  I've never seen any case where CP charges were dropped for information in another case.

(who Jim Bob may try to run again for public office), but one of the other Howlers. Of course, the ideal solution would be to cast the blame on a non-family member,  but that may not be feasible.

For a married couple to get the full amount for their kids, they need to make under $150,000 a year.  Anna and Josh probably qualify.

However, all married couples with an income under $400,000 will qualify for at least $2000 per child.

Remember, this is taxable income claimed on their returns. I'd be willing to bet JB has found a way.

This would never have gone down in my house. I would have told my husband, you want this, I'm staying with someone. Let him take care of the perv. She did tell him that she wasn't comfortable, her daughter wasn't comfortable... And that's what she told the judge in open court, in private she probably went even further begging her husband not to do this.

I really lay it at her husband's feet. He wants to get in good with Boob or the Lort or whatever and his wife and daughter are the ones paying for it.

If I were Mrs. Reber, my marriage probably wouldn't survive this bullshit. But she can't really move out at a moment's notice, she's a housewife and probably doesn't have access to sufficient money. So she's probably trying to make the best of it. And who knows if her marriage will ultimately survive this, either.

I'm guessing if Josh is obeying the court rules, Mrs Reber might feel less uncomfortable by now. Josh is probably respectful enough that Mrs R doesn't feel threatened by him either.

Personally, I wouldn't want a houseguest I liked to stay with me that long, so there's that part of it too.

I have to wonder that if Mrs Reber had flat out said she did not want Josh in her home, and by doing so did not defer to her husband, that she would have faced some dire consequences when she got home.  From what I have read she was pretty much pleading in with the judge not to send Josh to their house but it seems the judge did not get it.  

Isn't there a verse in the Bible about beating your wife?  I know the one about sparing the rod and spoiling the child, but since these folks seem to delight in twisting interpretations to suit their needs, I can see them justifying "punishing" a disobedient wife.

Really? I would feel threatened as fuck. This is an adult male stranger under house arrest, sitting there with nothing to do and no place to go while every day draws him closer to being hauled into court on an airtight case that will get him a very long prison sentence. He has nothing to lose and is in a desperate situation -- and desperate people do desperate things. On top of that, the dude is an incorrigible sex offender and all-around-predator. And when Mrs. Reber asked for help before and said she was anxious about having him in her home, nobody listened -- so there's nobody who's going to help her if things turn bad. She is at his mercy.

Personally, I would move the fuck out. But she can't, because she has no outside source of income and it would probably destroy her marriage and financial security (or worse).

My eyebrows went up when I saw that, but really, it shouldn't be surprising, fundie circles being what they are.

David's the one that had left fundamentalism and called out Josh after Ashley Madision, right? I know nothing about Hannah Reber and her religiosity, but it makes me sad that David might be taking such a huge step backwards in taking a fundie approved wife.
