Most of the new parents I know have gone trendy (Aidan, Mason, Bella, Brielle are some recent choices) rather than old school. I do know a toddler Lawrence who is named after his twenty-year-old father. 

I bet Smuggar wishes he'd had a down-low V after Michael was born. That was the last birth Smuggar seemed enthusiastic about. 

I don’t think it would even occur to him to get a Vasectomy and even if it did he did put in his vows that he and Anna would have as many as the Lord gave them, although I’m sure he promised to be faithful too.

Besides, there is literally nothing he can be accused of that would make her think 'nope, bridge too far'.  So he will stay married, hump her occasionally, have a new blessing as long as her equipment works, all while looking for others and visiting porn hub.  She will smile vacantly and drone on about said blessings and being thankful she has someone to take out the garbage.

I wonder if the families that use letter themes for names come up with lists for boy and girl names to draw from before they settle on a letter. Anna vetoed Mary, and we know Madison and Marjorie are likely off limits, so I imagine a list with names crossed off.

Anna's dad is a piece of work in that clip with his explanation that "dating is training for divorce." Her mom looks so beaten down and it made me sick to hear her evangelizing the patriarchy when she talks about how their method is so much better in that it protects the daughters because their husbands are accountable to their fathers. The whole clip was infuriating. Interesting that they were so much more upfront about their fundiness in those days, though. I think now they have polished that turd a bit more for purposes of the show.

My favorite line is Josh saying their marriage is different from other people's marriages. Thank god for that.

He kept mentioning that courtship was "protected." It didn't keep her safe from a teen sex abuser who turned into a cheating maggot. 

Didn't work so well for Suze, who had a child out of wedlock and was a single mother without a man anywhere in sight for a couple of years.

The Kellers doubled down after Suze and the divorces of the oldest son (who married a non-Gothardite) and Rebekah (whose ex was a Gothardite when they need but left Gothardism during their marriage). Nathan and Daniel are on VERY short leashes.

I am watching it right now.  Are we to believe that conversation with Anna's mother was the 1st time she learned of the nitty gritty of husband/wife relations?  If she didn't hear about that until right before the wedding what could they have possibly told her about Smugger molesting his sisters and another (that we have heard about, my guess is there were others)?  It is too bad she took that asshole back.  She needs to know what it is like with someone other than a selfish pig huffing and puffing his Big Mac breath all over her countenance.  I am sure she could think of a million other things she would rather do with that 2 minutes of her day.

This may sound inappropriate but I have always suspected Anna's dad has a lot in common with Josiah.  Just a hunch.

This was filmed when the Duggars were trying to sweep Josh's actions under the rug.  They were trying to weave a fantasy here about how super-special their courtship is and how they are both Godly virgins who have never spent one second of their lives thinking about sex yada, yada, yada. 

I do think that Anna was briefed about Josh's trangressions, but only in a superficial way.  These are people who believe that masturbation or looking at porn are just as evil as touching your sleeping sister.  Anna strikes me as one who would want to help return Josh to his godly path and willingly married him. I can see her smugly believing that he would never look at porn again because Josh now had her to righteously fulfill his desires.

That was the mousiest collection of human beings I’ve ever seen.  Who told them Christians can only wear dowdy frocks, and aren’t allowed to wash or comb their hair?  They really are too young to be so beat down looking.  And this video should be a reminder to all of us older, single ladies who might wish we had husbands.  We might be single, but that’s better than being married to the Josh Duggars of the world.

There isn’t footage of Josh in Counting On. Counting On was created after Joshgate tanked the 19K&C show. That’s why I find it odd that TLC doesn’t do repeats of Counting On, seeing as it’s all Duggars v. 2.0.

My cousins baby due in October is going to be Oliver. Old names seem to be coming back so maybe Smuggar number 6 will be named Mildred or Maude.
