I don't agree. Ben is at home almost as much as she is. He could clean that house. He's able-bodied and as capable of cleaning as she is. I don't agree with the Duggars about much, so I think a man should be able to clean.  I think she grew up in a house that sort of a mess most of the time, and she lacks exposure to other people so she doesn't know what normal is. Her messy photos seem to prove she isn't aware of how it looks. If she had gone to school or gone over to other people's houses more, she would probably be more aware as someone would have pointed that out to her.

My opinion is that Jessa is a selfish and lazy bitch who doesn't care one bit that her husband suffers with allergies. If she did, she would make a very good effort to clean her house. She doesn't work and never worked from the first day they were married. In that post a bit ago, her house looked like it had NEVER been cleaned from when they moved in to it after their honeymoon. You can bet your bottom dollar that if my husband suffered with allergies, and I was a stay at home wife, I would do my best to keep it clean and comfortable for him. Ben might not have a traditional job, but he does clean toilets and work for her father. He's not home all the time during the week....that's Jessa's cleaning time. This, of course, if my opinion. I think the girl never liked cleaning....ever.

I agree.

I don't subscribe to traditional gender roles, and I don't believe that women should have no options other than being a SAHM. That having been said, however, if a woman chooses that role, then that is her JOB. It's time for Jessa to get off her ass and learn to cook -- get some cookbooks, watch some videos, figure it out. Lots of people don't like to clean -- that's too bad. She's had more than enough time to develop a system for keeping her tiny house clean. I realize that J'chelle doesn't cook or clean, and to a large extent Jessa is simply mirroring the environment in which she grew up, but we know she spends a lot of time on Pinterest, and there are Christian mommy bloggers out there who probably post "fascinating" tidbits about "Biblical house cleaning" and "Christian meals for the busy housewife." I just simply don't believe that she is as clueless about what she should be doing as her actual behavior implies.

The Duggars -- ALL of the Duggars as far as I can tell -- are bone lazy, and do the least amount of work they can get away with in any given situation. It'sa good thing JB doesn't want any of them to work for an employer, because I don't think any of them could cut it.

Ben can help out with the house cleaning especially if he can handle cleaning dirty toilets without it making him sick and miserable. What does he do all day? He is not working a normal 8 to 5 Monday to Friday job. If he was a bachelor living on his own he would be responsible to keep the place he is living in clean or half way decent clean. Plus the fact his allergies may not be just related to indoors either. I know people who freak out if they see a spot of dust in their house and try to keep it spotless as possible and still manage to get sick with allergies. Ben's problems were showing up before he met and married Jessa. He needs to step up to the plate and go see an allergist and try to work on a possible solution in which he feels better because if his problems with allergies are caused by not keeping a semi-clean house then why does he look like heck when he is not at home.

JB was the one who took care of the mold. Need we say more...

I’ll be the first to remind you that The Howlers are specialists in mold remediation!

And Jill is a real midwife, Jana is a concert pianist, yada yada yada....

i think it’s absolutely criminal that JB exposed his young kids to all of that. If they were in HAZMAT suits and gear, maybe that’s a little more safe, but we all know what a cheapskate he is. He probably thinks all his kids were bred to serve his needs and fan his ego. Doubtless, all that blanket training guaranteed their compliance.

Ben has a "job" working for JB. First of all, how much work is that really? What exactly does he do for JB that his five or six of brother-in-laws aren't also doing? John David is a constable and is the family pilot responsible for the planes so not him. But Josh needs to have some employment I assume he's "working" for JB.  Joseph, Josiah, Jeremiah, and Jedidiah, also are of age and seem primarily to work for JB. Derick's financial options right now look like he's going to have to be working for JB. The rest of the Duggar boys are inching towards 18 when they will also be working for their dad.

Jill, I think did more work before she was married, between her mid-wife training and her nannying for the parents.  I would be surprised if Ben works everyday. It's not the same as even having part time work for someone else. I think they say Ben works for JB to make it sound better.  Although if he really spends 4 hours a day cleaning toliets, that make explain his allergies too.

To be fair, he does more than scrub toilets.  We call him a The Toilet Scrubber because he has to clean the foul Duggar toilets in addition to other duties. He’s supposedly got to mow their back 40, do repairs on the property.  Now that a few more Howlers are older, it seems there’s not much for Bin to do.  NWA is pretty much an outdoor allergy hotspot, along with a state that also abhors cleaning.

Don't forget, Been also has that internship at a church in Siloam Springs. I'm not sure how many hours a week he's required to be there, but he's definitely not working full-time for Boob. Don't forget that he's also ostensibly a full-time student, so he has to squeeze in study time in there somewhere.

I imagine the same thing that's stopping Jessa; nobody taught him how.  Maybe Jessa says she'll take care of it.  Maybe it's a Seewald household battleground.  I know I always wanted my apartment cleaner than my roommates did when I was in my twenties; I never knew how to get it out of them either.  I tried a cleaning schedule, nagging, the shame principle, multiple things.  Nothing stopped them from IMO-remarkable behaviors like coming home from shopping and dropping their bags mid-living-room for multiple hours before unpacking them, including groceries; covering every inch of the twelve-piece (!) sectional couch that didn't regularly hold butts with the overflow not piled upon the tables; overflowing milk crates of individual mail - I seriously never knew how they weren't defaulting on bills and student loans left and right - dishes left so long in the sink that even overflowing glasses of plain water molded; the floors of their bedrooms literally looked like dumps, if the contents of said dumps were all comprised of clothes and books.  I grant that when one of them married she magically learned how to hold up her end of a cleaning schedule; but she was pushing thirty by that time.  Bin was married at nineteen fresh out of the schoolroom, like a naive Jane Austen heroine.  I'm not surprised if he doesn't know how to negotiate reciprocal household duties.

True but... the allergic person shouldn't do the cleaning if they are allergic to dust mites, and should in fact be away from the cleaning, which is why I suggested he go to the park with the kids while the dust is flying about.  I say this because I myself am allergic to dust mites, and it takes very little dusting to turn my eyes to perpetual itch-bait.  I also found no relief for my concomitant eye problems from anything recommended by a doctor, including a cocktail of Claritin and steroid drops (there are in fact studies about Claritin which is appalling how few people it fixes, and/although this is "the best" thing we currently have out there to help allergic people).

That is true also.

Ok, maybe Ben should be Mr Head of Household and actually do something productive with the title.  Tell jessa to clean the house. Thoroughly and immediately.  Not a 9 year old sibling either.

Or maybe ask Michelle to watch the boys (you know, return a favor since Jessa homeschooled all the Duggar kids)  and BOTH jessa and ben clean the house together, like adults.  I have spent many days doing a home project or deep cleaning with my husband while an older sibling entertains my littles.

And like I said, ben needs to call an allergist asap. Mommy and Daddy Seewald aren't around anymore and Jessa is busy sorting & posing dirty diapers.

Ben is gonna be a minister?  He needs to address this asap. A minister can't be sniffling, snuffling and blinking while preaching, teaching and counseling. All of us who work with people as a career know that we need to be clean, neat, appropriately dressed and not coughing and sneezing on our clients. duh.

Ben can wear a mask to clean if he's allergic to dust. That's what I was told to do. Have we heard Ben complain about a dirty house? I'm a big believer in "if it bothers you, take care of it yourself."

I think they're both home enough to clean their house. Starbucks money alone would probably pay for someone to come in and do a deep clean.

Judging by the many photos posted of Bin & Jess traveling & on dates, I think he spends as little time at his church as Babe does. They are both living off of the Duggar daughter nest eggs.

No, no, Ben has never complained.

The discussion started because Jessa posted dusty and dirty and poopy pictures of her house and ben has openly said he has allergies. Plus he is constantly sniffling, snuffling and blinking on camera.

We were just putting 2 and 2 together and suggesting that SOMEONE clean the house and call an allergist!

I totally agree.  Hire someone to clean if you can't get it together.

In Ben’s defense-allergy testing and shots can be quite costly with good insurance. Not sure what they have (if anything) but I paid a good bit in co-pays even with excellent coverage when my son was doing allergy shots.

Both of my sons had 7 years of allergy shots for trees, grasses, weeds,  dust, mites, and mold.  I paid absolutely nothing, not even a copay.

I had/have an HMO ( Group Health Cooperative, which is now Kaiser Permanente.  I was a federal employee and am now retired with the same insurance.

Surely Ben must have some type of insurance that can help him!

Does Ben even know what he is allergic to?  Just start with some testing.

They must have some money saved up from the show.  Health is really a top priority, especially with a career plan of ministry.  All that sniffling, snuffling and blinking is not gonna work in a grown up world.

In order to manage her allergies, my cousin has been on steroids, benadryl, and antihistamines, with limited efficacy. She is now currently in her first year of allergy shots. Even though they won't "cure" her allergies (she will still have to take prescription allergy meds), they will help reduce the amount of medication she has to take. When her allergies flare up, her face looks swollen like Ben's.

However, it's hard to know whether or not Ben is taking any medication for his allergies, even just over-the-counter stuff. I doubt he has visited an allergy specialist or had an allergy test to give him a starting point for treatment. The Duggars definitely have the money to pay for a good specialist, but I suspect the real limitation is whether or not Boob is willing to pony up and put Ben out of his misery. Ben can just man up and deal with his "sniffles", right?

This is the latest picture of herself she posted on social media, from Dec 5th. Also, she wasn't at the pedi outing with Joy and Jana which seems a bit suspicious. Maybe she'll be at the Bates wedding and someone will snap a picture of her. I believe she's already pregnant, again.

That sure looks like a pregnant bosom.  I'm surprised Jessa hasn't figured out that it always gives her away.

Or maybe she’s actually parenting her kids or cleaning the house? Those dirty nappies stack up fast with two babies.

Or maybe it was decided that Henry needs to be blanket trained for his willfulness in knocking over Spurgie’s construction project.  You can’t start too young with that thar blanket training with those godless, willful, manipulative toddlers.  Of course you all realize I find this absolutely abhorrent, right?

Jessa stopped the video before we saw Spurgie's full retribution, but at the least we saw him push Henry down on the floor.  Looks like Spurge needs a little blanket training, too.  Although I'm sure Jessa finds it impossible to do anything but adore the child with her face.

And of course, I find it abhorrent, too.  I hope Jessa has two dozen boy children.

The world of HMOs is pretty much a thing of the past unless you're in a well established union or government.  HDHPs with HSAs are much more common, with the minimum deductible of $1350.00.  That's minimum deductible. Deductibles PER INDIVIDUAL of $3500 are much more common.  Consider yourself extremely fortunate to have/had that coverage.

I’d be thrilled if the options on the individual market didn’t have such outrageous deductibles and out of pocket on top of outrageous premiums, but for many like me with active cancer, the ACA made sure those who are sick couldn’t be locked out. I haven’t had an employer plan since first quarter of 2015. The drought in the oil patch is going into its 4th year in 2018, so with only short term gigs here and there, and agencies won’t let you have a plan if you can’t get at least 30 hours a week.  Employer plans are costly, too, but some let you payroll deduct your deductible on a pretax basis and cover part of it sometimes.

The worst part of the deductible plans is that until you show up, you don’t know what you’ll pay up front.  Then, weeks or months later, the insurance decides they want to charge you MORE because it falls under the deductible. Doctor or facility has rendered the service already, so you can’t be an asshole and not pay.  Many people who pay more for premiums than their rent/mortgage and/or car note and can’t really afford to pay any more. And, just like in the airline industry, why does the seat next to you cost twice as much when everyone is in coach and you’re all going to the same place. No rhyme or reason.

I’m sure the visit to an allergy clinic is out of reach for Ben and Jessa for those reasons. It’s not one visit, either. Coming back for serum and shots. I had to give Mr E his shots. I was used to giving insulin shots to our cat, but you don’t give allergy shots the same way.  After 6 to 9 months of watching my poor husband tortured, I was as relieved as he was when he decided he’d had enough. We forked  out a goodly amount for that experience. And, if someone can tolerate it, it’s 2 to 3 years. Perhaps Bin wants no part of what allergy shots entail.

I have food allergies, but my husband has environmental allergies. I can just stay away from my allergen and I’m fine, but not breathing is not an option. If that varmint Jessa would throw away those filthy nappies, and get a Swiffer out a few times a week, Bin would breathe much better.  Indoor allergens can be just as bad or worse than outdoor ones.

Oh Lord, i think I'm defending Jessa here but maybe BEN should schedule his own appointment with an allergist or doctor and find out why he is always congested.  Ben can also push around a vacuum, dust and climb around and clean out some vents too.  Ben can gift jessa with a professional cleaner too. He can also tell Jessa to throw out her poopy diaper collection.

I realize Ben is barely out of his teen years but Ben can do this for himself.  He cannot feel good always being stuffy, sniffling and irritated eyes. Either do it yourself or get Jessa to do it.

Jessa, if you read here, tell Ben to man up and call an allergist.

Ok Derek, if you catch this (and I am STILL waiting to be blocked by you!) tell Jessa to tell Ben to make his own freaking appts and on his way to the appt tell him to grab the stacks of dirty diapers off the dresser.  Its the least you can do for those of us that are still semi interested in the family.

I have horrible allergies, and I wish it was just the sniffles. I know what I'm allergic to though, and am being treated for them. It's called "going to a doctor"...Ben should try it.

As religious as I am not, I still think allergies are from the DEVIL (not even joking.)

So I guess Ben isn't praying enough for God to cure him.

Continence problems are symptoms of bladder or bowel dysfunction. They tell you that something is not quite right. Pelvic floor muscle weakness is a common cause of these symptoms. Changes to the nerves controlling the bladder, bowel or pelvic floor can also result in loss of control.  In other words, an adult who needs to wear diapers − which could explain why so many dirty ones accumulate, stacked on the dresser.  LOL

Just wait till three, maybe four years from now, and the show finally ends. And Spurge and his 52 first cousins are suddenly all living in families where no parent is earning above minimum wage and they've already blown all the TeeVee money on mini-vacations and lattes.
