Ben can wear a mask to clean if he's allergic to dust. That's what I was told to do. Have we heard Ben complain about a dirty house? I'm a big believer in "if it bothers you, take care of it yourself."

I think they're both home enough to clean their house. Starbucks money alone would probably pay for someone to come in and do a deep clean.

No, no, Ben has never complained.

The discussion started because Jessa posted dusty and dirty and poopy pictures of her house and ben has openly said he has allergies. Plus he is constantly sniffling, snuffling and blinking on camera.

We were just putting 2 and 2 together and suggesting that SOMEONE clean the house and call an allergist!

I totally agree.  Hire someone to clean if you can't get it together.

In Ben’s defense-allergy testing and shots can be quite costly with good insurance. Not sure what they have (if anything) but I paid a good bit in co-pays even with excellent coverage when my son was doing allergy shots.

Both of my sons had 7 years of allergy shots for trees, grasses, weeds,  dust, mites, and mold.  I paid absolutely nothing, not even a copay.

I had/have an HMO ( Group Health Cooperative, which is now Kaiser Permanente.  I was a federal employee and am now retired with the same insurance.

Surely Ben must have some type of insurance that can help him!

Does Ben even know what he is allergic to?  Just start with some testing.

They must have some money saved up from the show.  Health is really a top priority, especially with a career plan of ministry.  All that sniffling, snuffling and blinking is not gonna work in a grown up world.

In order to manage her allergies, my cousin has been on steroids, benadryl, and antihistamines, with limited efficacy. She is now currently in her first year of allergy shots. Even though they won't "cure" her allergies (she will still have to take prescription allergy meds), they will help reduce the amount of medication she has to take. When her allergies flare up, her face looks swollen like Ben's.

However, it's hard to know whether or not Ben is taking any medication for his allergies, even just over-the-counter stuff. I doubt he has visited an allergy specialist or had an allergy test to give him a starting point for treatment. The Duggars definitely have the money to pay for a good specialist, but I suspect the real limitation is whether or not Boob is willing to pony up and put Ben out of his misery. Ben can just man up and deal with his "sniffles", right?

Jessa is a dirty filthy disgusting slob. WHAT do they teach them over at that house?? Not one of them can cook, clean, do laundry, or anything house related. They keep waffling on about womanly virtues, but not one of them wimmins there actually possesses even one.

Except Jana.

This is the latest picture of herself she posted on social media, from Dec 5th. Also, she wasn't at the pedi outing with Joy and Jana which seems a bit suspicious. Maybe she'll be at the Bates wedding and someone will snap a picture of her. I believe she's already pregnant, again.

That sure looks like a pregnant bosom.  I'm surprised Jessa hasn't figured out that it always gives her away.

Or maybe she’s actually parenting her kids or cleaning the house? Those dirty nappies stack up fast with two babies.

Or maybe it was decided that Henry needs to be blanket trained for his willfulness in knocking over Spurgie’s construction project.  You can’t start too young with that thar blanket training with those godless, willful, manipulative toddlers.  Of course you all realize I find this absolutely abhorrent, right?

Jessa stopped the video before we saw Spurgie's full retribution, but at the least we saw him push Henry down on the floor.  Looks like Spurge needs a little blanket training, too.  Although I'm sure Jessa finds it impossible to do anything but adore the child with her face.

And of course, I find it abhorrent, too.  I hope Jessa has two dozen boy children.

The world of HMOs is pretty much a thing of the past unless you're in a well established union or government.  HDHPs with HSAs are much more common, with the minimum deductible of $1350.00.  That's minimum deductible. Deductibles PER INDIVIDUAL of $3500 are much more common.  Consider yourself extremely fortunate to have/had that coverage.

Deductibles PER INDIVIDUAL of $3500 are much more common.  Consider yourself extremely fortunate to have/had that coverage.

I’d be thrilled if the options on the individual market didn’t have such outrageous deductibles and out of pocket on top of outrageous premiums, but for many like me with active cancer, the ACA made sure those who are sick couldn’t be locked out. I haven’t had an employer plan since first quarter of 2015. The drought in the oil patch is going into its 4th year in 2018, so with only short term gigs here and there, and agencies won’t let you have a plan if you can’t get at least 30 hours a week.  Employer plans are costly, too, but some let you payroll deduct your deductible on a pretax basis and cover part of it sometimes.

The worst part of the deductible plans is that until you show up, you don’t know what you’ll pay up front.  Then, weeks or months later, the insurance decides they want to charge you MORE because it falls under the deductible. Doctor or facility has rendered the service already, so you can’t be an asshole and not pay.  Many people who pay more for premiums than their rent/mortgage and/or car note and can’t really afford to pay any more. And, just like in the airline industry, why does the seat next to you cost twice as much when everyone is in coach and you’re all going to the same place. No rhyme or reason.

I’m sure the visit to an allergy clinic is out of reach for Ben and Jessa for those reasons. It’s not one visit, either. Coming back for serum and shots. I had to give Mr E his shots. I was used to giving insulin shots to our cat, but you don’t give allergy shots the same way.  After 6 to 9 months of watching my poor husband tortured, I was as relieved as he was when he decided he’d had enough. We forked  out a goodly amount for that experience. And, if someone can tolerate it, it’s 2 to 3 years. Perhaps Bin wants no part of what allergy shots entail.

I have food allergies, but my husband has environmental allergies. I can just stay away from my allergen and I’m fine, but not breathing is not an option. If that varmint Jessa would throw away those filthy nappies, and get a Swiffer out a few times a week, Bin would breathe much better.  Indoor allergens can be just as bad or worse than outdoor ones.

Oh Lord, i think I'm defending Jessa here but maybe BEN should schedule his own appointment with an allergist or doctor and find out why he is always congested.  Ben can also push around a vacuum, dust and climb around and clean out some vents too.  Ben can gift jessa with a professional cleaner too. He can also tell Jessa to throw out her poopy diaper collection.

I realize Ben is barely out of his teen years but Ben can do this for himself.  He cannot feel good always being stuffy, sniffling and irritated eyes. Either do it yourself or get Jessa to do it.

Jessa, if you read here, tell Ben to man up and call an allergist.

Ok Derek, if you catch this (and I am STILL waiting to be blocked by you!) tell Jessa to tell Ben to make his own freaking appts and on his way to the appt tell him to grab the stacks of dirty diapers off the dresser.  Its the least you can do for those of us that are still semi interested in the family.

I have horrible allergies, and I wish it was just the sniffles. I know what I'm allergic to though, and am being treated for them. It's called "going to a doctor"...Ben should try it.

As religious as I am not, I still think allergies are from the DEVIL (not even joking.)

So I guess Ben isn't praying enough for God to cure him.

Continence problems are symptoms of bladder or bowel dysfunction. They tell you that something is not quite right. Pelvic floor muscle weakness is a common cause of these symptoms. Changes to the nerves controlling the bladder, bowel or pelvic floor can also result in loss of control.  In other words, an adult who needs to wear diapers − which could explain why so many dirty ones accumulate, stacked on the dresser.  LOL

Yeah, Jessa. Babeez!!!

Just wait till three, maybe four years from now, and the show finally ends. And Spurge and his 52 first cousins are suddenly all living in families where no parent is earning above minimum wage and they've already blown all the TeeVee money on mini-vacations and lattes. Then it'll be "congrats" indeed.

Isn't he supposed to be in the back facing the rear of the car?  Henry too; he should be in the MIDDLE of the back seat and facing rear also.

Henry looked like he was rear facing. It looked like a van to me with each of them in 2 separate seats, not a bench type. No clue what Spurgeon weighs, he may be past rear facing size?

I have to say, with all of the pictures I have seen posted, on Facebook and such, credit to Jessa for having the straps done correctly.

ETA: Arkansas

Infants – Rear Facing Car Seat

Children up to one (1) year of age or up to twenty (20) pounds should be secured in a rear facing infant seat or car seat in the back seat of the vehicle.

Harness straps should be snug and straight and the chest clip should be at armpit level.

Please follow manufacturer’s directions for the installation and maintenance of an infant car seat.

Never use a car seat in the front seat where an active airbag is present.

That's a riot.  She is locked out of the gated TTH until she posts a fucking wackadoodle video!

Can't you just see jessa realizing the gate won't open for her?

Shit i forgot the video...damn, who is pregnant again? Oh right, joe and kendra.  Ok Spugie...3, 2, 1 and mommy is gonna say Baaabeee 13 times.  Send the video over to mama and daddy...

Jessa might be able to gin up some excitement in the kid if she pointed out the lure of "new cousins to play with", but apparently her knowledge of child psychology doesn't extend that far.  A toddler is not going to be interested until you point out the benefits to them, Jessa.

  • Love 10

Me watching the video:

I like the kids, but the way Jessa is talking to the two kiddies makes me want to slap the crap out of her. Reminds me of a few group home managers I use to work with. They would talk like Jessa did in the video to the clients and staff. I just smiled and thought I want to slap you while trying not to roll my eyes.

Having babies every 12-18 months is a guaranteed way to ensure eventual continence issues.

It's really weird because I didn't think Henry was a cute baby until recently. I think what makes him more appealing is he looks more Seewald than Duggar, while Spurge is a Boob-clone. Since Duggar males age in dog years, my money is on Henry turning out to be the better looking adult.

Menopause can affect the continence of even us nulliparous folk. I said to my mom, “out of nowhere, I sneezed, farted, and peed my pants all at the same time. Is THIS what I get to look forward to in menopause.?How can I be incontinent if I haven’t had kids”.

Without missing a beat, my mom said, “Now you’re just showing off, there will come a day when you just don’t get a choice as to which thing you’ll do first!” Another friend said, “Yup, that’s what you call multitasking”.

Maybe Gothard has a Wisdumb Booklet on Kegel exercises, since pregnancy is the desired consequence of “joyful availability”.

Definitely.  I'm not a Boob or Jessa fan, so while I don't hold his face against Spurgie, it give Henry the advantage.  I didn't realized just how much Jessa looked like her father until Spurgie came along.  Israel looks like grandpa, but in a less obvious way.  And Josh's kids have been blessed to take after Anna's side, I guess.  I'm curious about Jinge's kids, because she's the least Duggar-looking to me, although Jenny and Jordyn are a little more unique looking.

What's stopping him from cleaning his own house?

I imagine the same thing that's stopping Jessa; nobody taught him how.

He caught on to how to shag Jessa with no prior experience (that we know of) and knocked her up twice, so the intricacies of a mop and bucket shouldn't be that difficult for him to master.

Well, we're thinking about him as a modern young man. But Bin was raised in and then deliberately married into two very very strong patriarchal male-headship traditions. And yet -- he's clearly the submissive partner, pussy-whipped and largely dragged around with a ring through his drippy nose. (and he seems to be the only Duggar adjacent husband who's got this problem.)

I think it's possible that he -- consciously or unconsciously -- might see avoiding housework as the only benefit he's getting from the male-dominant marriage structure he clearly signed up for. (Jessa might think that too, I imagine. -- "I'll let him off the hook on housework because i"m the boss in absolutely every other way.")

Yeah, you're right. I'm sure he does it. That said, maybe he holds back from doing all of it! ... I actually see no reason for him to do all of it -- since he is working (sort of) and going to school (which can't be all that quick work for Bin, I'd expect, even if it's just kind of half school).

I don't really believe that is the case, but damn if I don't want it to be. I'm all for men who sign up for patriarchy to get the opposite of what they signed up for. If Jessa really is a ballbuster,* Ben 100% deserves it. GO, JESSA!

*I tend to think that Jessa is more slyly manipulative than a raging bitch with Ben, if anything. She gets what she wants by some combination of giving Ben what he wants (lets not forget she agreed to name her child Spurgeon, clearly something that only Ben wanted) and convincing him that what she wants is his idea. She learned that from her mother.
